I loved the cake selecting process the most during my wedding planning. Raquel is a sweetheart and very talented. I wish I had more left over cake the next day because it was so good! I have the anniversary top tier to look forward to! Even though her bakery is far from where I live, it is definitely worth it!

The cake was so delicious! My experience was wonderful and I've only heard great things from the guests. The cream cheese cake was tasty and very moist. Can't wait to order again from them!

I really love the wedding cake. It was definitely what I was looking for. I gave Rachel 3 different pictures of wedding cakes and I told her my idea, she got everything that I wanted on my wedding cake. It was very difficult for me to trust somebody because I am a very picky person. Custom Cake Design was wonderful with my design.

Custom Cake Design is an excellent company to work with! I worked with them to provide cupcakes for my wedding. Everyone associated with the business was professional, responsive, and extremely competent. I waited until the last minute to figure out my cake plans, and they were completely willing to accomodate me, even to the point of staying late one night so that I could pick up cupcake samples after work.

The final product was beyond my best expectation and truly a highlight of the wedding. The cupcakes were creative and beautiful, and most importantly they were moist and delicious. During planning, I had only a vague idea of what I wanted the cupcakes to look like. I gave Custom Cake Design a color scheme and a general theme to work with. The final design surpassed my best expectations.

This vendor was a no-brainer! We didn't want to search high and low for a bakery and Custom Cake Design had some really great reviews so we visited them for one of their open houses. We knew right away we would go with them, but then we had to choose the flavor, design, etc. which can be really difficult. We went back to the next month's open house to finalize these details and order the cake. There are A LOT of pictures actual cakes in their store to look at to help you make your decision. The ordering process was extremely easy and we had zero issues with Custom Cake Design. They arrived earlier than expected on the wedding day and were so pleasant to work with. My mom surprised me for my Bridal Shower and ordered the cake PLUS COOKIES from them also. The cookies are BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS...a big hit with all the bridal shower guests, and my now husband really enjoyed the left over cookies, too.

We absolutely loved our cake from Custom Cake Design. They did exactly what we asked and it came out perfectly. The staff at the cake tasting were very nice and helpful. They worked with me to get exactly what we wanted. When I saw our cake on our wedding day it looked better than I could have ever imagined! We were very impressed with their work and the flavors were great! We had requested quotes from several other cake companies and Custom Cake Design had the best price by far.

We had our wedding cake provided by Custom Cake in Gaithersburg and it is, still to this day, the best cake i've had. Our wedding was at Montgomery Country Club in July 2012 and Custom Cake was one of the featured vendors. They were very helpful when it came to the design that we wanted and accommodated us with the flavors that we couldnt choose between. The tasting was simple and quick, truly the fastest vendor we spent time with. I would definitely use their services for future events! Loved our cake!!

AMAZING! On top of the open house cake tasting once a month, they work very well to schedule personal cake tastings. The white raspberry was so good - all of our guests loved it! My aunt was even happy that we had brought home extra so she was able to have another piece the next day.

Custom Cake Design couldn't have done a better job on our cake. We provided a photo of a cake we found on Google and they replicated it perfectly including the detailed piping and fondant color. Their cakes are moist, fluffy, and delicious. The icings are not too sugary/sweet and even the fondant tastes good. The staff was incredible to work with. They take pride in their work and it shows!

I went to a few of the tasting because we could just not pick which flavor or design. We ended up giving them our own design. It was paisley print to incorporate the peacock feather theme we had. It was beautiful, cake. We finally decided on Butter Rum and Carmel. Delicious!

I had the perfect experience and have absolutely nothing to complain about. My fiance and I went to two tastings, one just the two of us, and another with our mothers. There were so many great choices to choose from, but eventually we chose the Butter Rum with Butter Cream frosting. We had a three-tier stacked cake with swiss dots, and ribbon at the bottom of each layer. We ordered the cake through our venue and paid a very small upgrade fee for the design.

A week before the wedding, I dropped off the ribbon, cake topper, and pictures of exactly what I wanted. I had read reviews on WeddingWire which said that people had separations in their cake even though they didn't want it, but I did not have a problem at all. Custom Cake worked with my venue to coordinate the drop off of the cake so I didn't have to worry about a thing the day of.

The cake was DELICIOUS and BEAUTIFUL! We couldn't be happier and can't wait until the 1yr anniversary to have another piece.

The cake was so fresh and delicious! I was so excited to see my beautiful cake that bakery created for our special day. All of our guests said it was moist and yummy. There was no leftovers! I will absolutely use this company for all my cake needs in the future. Wonderful experience!

Custom Cake Design came with our wedding package with the Holiday Inn of Gaithersburg, but we could not have asked for a better bakery. First, they have tastings once a month where you can try 20+ of their different flavors and fillings. We decided on the chocolate chip cake. It was delicious! Not like some wedding cakes that are dry and dense. This was light and fluffy, but dense enough to hold up the second layer. The decorations were flawless. They were very flexible with us when we didn't have our cake topper ready when we said we would. Then when I dropped off the topper (we did them ourselves with Transformers action figures) the woman at the bakery said they would try to match the color of the docorations with the colors in my female topper's bouquet. The colors matched perfectly! We could not have been more pleased with our wedding cake and the guests loved that we didn't pick some traditional flavor!

I loved their cakes and the cake tasting they offer are very convenient to a full week's work schedule. The models of cakes they display give you a real feel for what you will be ordering than just a picture can offer you. They are very easy to work with. My cake was included in our reception package so it included many different options and if we wanted any upgrades it would be an additional cost but we were very happy with the options we had to choose from!

The cake was delicious and very moist w/ LOTS great icing so if you don't like icing you can take some off but if you like icing you will be in heaven!! We chose the butter yellow cake w/ raspberry filling which was wonderful! I also loved the almond and rum flavored cake!!

Absolutely DELICIOUS! These bakers have been in business for a long time (as evidenced by their many photo albums filled with pictures of wedding cakes they've done) and it truly shows in their work. There are VERY many options to chose from as far as flavors and fillings, and we went with their most popular, the white raspberry with champagne frosting. It was light and delicious and a huge crowd pleaser! We got a lot of compliments on our cake. It was also beautiful!!! Exactly what I described during our consultation. I highly recommend Custom Cake Design!

A cake from Custom Cake Design was included in our wedding package from Holiday Inn Gaithersburg. We chose the shop’s signature flavor, white raspberry, with an ivory buttercream icing. It was so delicious! We considered getting a filling for the cake, but the cake has a strong flavor itself, that the fillings did not add much. We got a 75 servings three tier wedding cake. For a small fee we were able to bring in our own ribbon that they wrapped around each tier for us! Our cake came with one free column separation, which we declined, but it ended up on our cake anyways. But it honestly looked better with our cake and made it look much bigger, so I was happy for the mistake. Our experience was nothing but pleasant with Custom Cake Design! Thank you so much.

When I went for my tasting, I saw a cake I liked but wanted to make a few tweaks to the icing color and add a few more rustic touches...I gave my ideas to Nancy and moved on. The day of the wedding when I first saw the cake, I honestly could not beleive it! Nancy hit is right on the head and captured EXACTLY what I wanted. It was the most beautiful cake I have ever seen. Not to mention, it was so moist and delicious. It really looked like a cake right out of a bridal magazine!

I got the basic level design, square, three tier cake with a divider. I got the signature flavor. It was such a hit!! Everyone was raving about how moist the cake was..it was delicious!! The design was beautiful as well! I would definitely recommend them to future brides, GREAT value!

Custom Cake Design is a great place for any type of cake. We were provided a cake tasting of all the flavors of cake. We explain to the staff what kind and design of cake we wanted. They was eager to help us design the perfect cake. The price was very reasonable. Everyone love it. They also provided instruction to store the cake and a box to save the top layer cake for our 1 year anniversary. If your looking for the perfect cake with a reasonable price then Custom Cake Design is the place to go it.

The cake was so good and looked great! It was on time and the people were very enthusiasic. The only problem I had was the hours, they closed at 3 during the work and only opened on Saturdays till 10 am, so it made it hard to drop off things they needed if you work full time. Also when I bought the cake topper they didn't let me know that certain cake toppers aren't sturdy enough so they charge you extra money to add a base so it'll stay in place. I feel they should have mentioned it when I first met with them.

We ordered a cake from this place for my sister’s wedding upon the recommendation of someone at HSUS. So glad we did – it was beautiful and delicious!

Wedding cake was absolutely delicious and beautiful! We also had a chocolate fountain with everything you can imagine for dipping. There were even chocolate covered strawberries initialed with last name in white, such a nice touch! We also ordered cookies for our hotel guest bags. Custom Cake wrapped the cookies in clear cellophane bags with white ribbon. The cookies were yummy as well! The owners and her staff are wonderful to work with and we highly reccommend them.

I loved my cake! The only thing wrong was I asked for brown flowers with green leafs but instead the flowers were all white. Other then that, everything turned out perfectly

My wedding cake was beautiful and tasty.

The cake was gorgeous. We chose the almond cake and guests raved about it being the best wedding cake they had ever had. We also chose a custom design and Custom Cakes did great with it. They were very organized and called us ahead of time for our cake topper. I felt like I did not have to worry about them delivering the cake the way we wanted it.

Custom Cake Design did our cherry blossom cake and let me tell you, not only they were delicious (chocolate raspberry and butter rum on top tier), but they looked SUPER AMAZING!!!! We almost felt bad cutting the cake :*).

The White Raspberry flavor cake was to die for and everyone at our wedding agreed. Very prompt with returning answers to questions and will refer to all my friends in the area.

Custom Cake Design was very nice, it was awesome to attend the tasting and have the opportunity to pick the perfect cake. Every one who helped was very nice and they were always quick to respond to requests. It was tough for us to get a cake, the number of people we had were in the middle of their size options so we had to get a bigger cake than we really needed (not really that bad since I love cake...but would be nice for a little more flexibility). This vendor was recommended through our reception site. I didn't realize how much everything would cost with simple changes to the design...I wanted a circle instead of square and had a smooth surface rather than any designs on the cake and that cost more than some cakes I saw that were much more detailed. We asked them to match the color from our wedding for part of the cake and I realize it is very difficult to match colors but with their experience I was confident it would turn out good. We were looking for a darker almost rust colored orange and it turned out looking pink. If you were far away and in most of the pictures it did look peach/orange but was not even close to the sample color we provided. The taste of the cake was awesome and their service was awesome...I would definitely recommend, but next time I would choose something more simple to get the right value for cost.

They made the most beautiful cake! It was perfect!!

We LOVED our cake. It was just what we described/imagined. We chose it based on a few of their design samples being combined. It tasted GREAT! yellow/chocolate marble cake with white buttcream frosting. 3-tiers (for 100 ppl). They coordinated with our flower vendor for the day-of flower topping placement.

I was extremely pleased with the way our wedding cake turned out. We got many compliments about the cake and how wonderful it tasted. Our cake was included in our wedding package at the lowest level (one). I was a little taken back that any slight little change in the cake from what they have on display is an automatic extra fee, no less than $100. I wanted a simple change from the scalloped edging to the straight edging and just to have that changed was extra which seemed a little ridiculous to me. Other than them not being flexible with the designs I was pleased with the service and quality of the cake. I of course went ahead and paid extra for what I wanted for my wedding day but was not very happy that a simple change cost me.

I loved our wedding cake! It was moist and perfectly sweetened. This company has tons of flavors to offer. My choices was limited in terms of which cakes I could choose because the cake was included in my wedding package through the Crowne Plaza Hotel. I guess you could always pay extra if you wanted something more extravagant.

We absolutely loved our cake from Custome Cake Design! As was true with a lot of other reviewers, the cake came as part of the package for our hotel/reception site. I was a bit worried that when I arrived for our tasting we would be treated differently since we were part of a package, but that was so not the case!

We wound up upgrading our cake from what was included in the package. The package was a bit limiting, but we were able to find something that was an upgrade but still fit in our budget.

Custom Cake was incredibly responsive and whenever we sent them an email we hear back the same day! We received numerous compliments on the cake at the reception.

PS-The tasting was so much fun!

We used Custom Cake Design as a part of our Platinum package through the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg. We were very pleased with this company overall. We were able to come to their stores for a tasting. Their show room and picture books provided us with plenty of ideas for the design as well. They were helpful with creating the design for our cake and really listened to what we wanted! They even helped in ordering the monogram for the top of our cake. We would definitely recommend them to others.

If you want a deliciously scrumptious cake, Custom Cake Design is where you have to go!!!! :) My husband and I attended the monthly tasting and we really had a hard time choosing flavors because they were all just incredibly yummy!!! Although the white raspberry was my absolute favorite (to die for!!!), my husband chose the almond flavor and so we felt we should have a dark cake too...so we went with the chocolate raspberry. The cake itself was an absolute dream. :) I wanted to have the design on the cake match the design of my wedding invitations and the cake far exceeded my expectations. It was absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Everyone commented how stunningly beautiful the cake was and we were beyond pleased. It was exactly what we had dreamed of and more. :) We also had a beautiful chocolate fondue table set up by Custom Cake Design and that was the real hit of the evening. All of our guests were in chocolate heaven!!!! I would highly recommend this company as you will not only have excellent service, but very happy tummies as well. :) I want to especially thank Raquel and Nancy for their supreme service, care and helpfulness with everything, it was truly a pleasure to work with them. Right now I am impatiently waiting for another event (birthday, baby shower, anniversary, anything!) to come along so I can order another cake with them...this time in the white raspberry, LOL!!!! :)

We got our cake through them. Their prices are excellent and all the people who work there are really sweet, helpful and genuine people. We loved the cake tasting. They have the best shop and a wide wide variety of choices. Unfortunately our budget for the cake was small so we couldn't really explore some of their creative choices.

I will say this I was surprised that their chocolate cake is not moist and doesn't taste good. In fact, some of their cakes all taste the same despite different flavors... like the difference between red velvet and chocolate--if you closed your eyes you wouldn't be able to tell.

Their sig flavor-- white raspberry and the caramel flavor are super moist and taste great!

Overall, I really liked them. Good value for the money.

The cake was included with the package from my reception. My mom and I went to a tasting open house, and it was really great. They were all good, but the almond was our choice. We picked from the available designs and it was all pretty fast. We didn't have a cake topper, but they followed up a few times to double check. I just told them we didn't have one. They also called my mom who thankfully decided to double check the design, and there was a mistake, but they caught it in advance. When the cake arrived at the wedding it was perfect and tasty! We even had a little to take home and enjoy that week (in addition to the top one being frozen for our anniversary). Yum!

Our Cake was so delicious!!! We got a Spice cake. We only got the one bite that we fed each other but it was so good! We have had several guests compliment how good the cake was.

Custom Cake Design was great. The staff was great at the tasting and helpful with scheduling a later than normal cake drop off for the day of the wedding. We have nothing but accolades for them. The price was included in our wedding catering cost so that is the only reason we listed them as average. It's not that they arent remarkable, I just feel it would be misleading to suggest something when we didn't directly deal with them with regards to price. But the cake was exactly what we ordered and was a big hit because there were only a few pieces left after the reception. yummy

Custom Cakes were my vendor chosen by my venue package, althought the cake flavors i chose were pretty good, i would have like to have more variety of flavors. their open house was pretty useful and loved the variety of designs.

Wedding cake was included in our hotel reception package from this vendor. We chose basic cake which was very nice - several flavor choices. Can't really speak to extensive negotiations or pricing as we did not get into this aspect. Very pleased all in all.

My cake came included in the price of the venu, which was very convenient. However, I could choose which cake design I wanted and the flavor. I ended up paying a little more to get an upgraded cake since the one I wanted was a square cake and that was not part of the package from the venue. I showed them a picture of how I wanted my cake to look and was nervous how it would come out. However, I loved the cake. The design was amazing just like the picture I had showed them. The cake looked like it had come from a magazine. My florist added flowers to the cake and it was gorgeous. My photographers loved the design so much they took more pictures of the cake than of the other details. The flavor of the cake was also really good. The cake was moist and not too sweet. I really was so pleased with how the cake turned out.

Our cake was included in our reception packagae, so we were a little worried..but Custom Cakes was great! We love that red velvet was not an additional charge and the cake tasted great and was exactly what we asked for design wise. I was a little upset that you have to pay for additional flavors and that ribbon and special "dots" were extra too. However our cake was included so adding a few extras was not a big deal.

Don't get me wrong, our tasting and the staff at CC were amazing. Very helpful, very attentive. But in the end, THEY GAVE US THE WRONG CAKE ON OUR WEDDING DAY. It was so ugly. :(
What makes it worse is the fact that I had to contact them to tell them of the mistake. They knew it was wrong, but as we were told, "it was too late to do anything." They knew it was wrong, yet I had to contact them first? They didn't come to me to appologize? Completely unprofessional in my opinion and I'd hate for this to happen to some other bride. Just beware...
In response to CC's response below, I have to say, I'm torn in writing this because on one hand, they were gracious enough to donate a cake, on the other, everything that was said is an outright lie. We were NEVER contacted and told that the cake was "outside" the price range/package pricing. In fact, when we were there doing the tasting, we had the woman who was helping us ask the owner or manager to make sure it fit within the guidelines. According to what we won, it was and it was confirmed that day. We picked a lovely cake, and even when I called two days before to confirm the drop off time, NO ONE told me there was an issue or discrepancy with the cake. And even after we received the wrong cake on our wedding day, knowing that it was wrong, it took ME calling CC a week later to let them know. No one ever contacted me. I appreciate their intent with the donation, but at the end of the day, this was an important aspect of our day that was ruined. Please don't make it worse by lying about it.

Custom Cake Design was one of the two options I was offered with my venue (Hilton Hotel in Rockville, MD), and I was happy with the experience from start to finish! I went with my husband (then fiance) and his mom to a tasting, and it was such a delicious afternoon! We had a hard time choosing between the great tastes, but we settled on an almond-flavored cake. The gals at Custom Cake Design were so helpful with directions, and did just what I wanted with the cake-topper. Our guests loved the cake, too.

The wedding cake was part of the inclusive fee through the hotel that I had my reception but in addition we ordered a groom's cake through them for the rehearsal dinner that turned out fabulous. I had a level I cake included in my reception fee and chose a monogrammed cake for 140 people with a pindot design. I really wanted the monogram to be done in red to match the colors of my wedding and usually that is an additional fee but they included it for free, which I thought was very nice. They also include a gratis top layer with all their wedding cakes (on top of the number of servings for your wedding reception) for the bride and groom to freeze and deliver a small box for you to bring it home in as well.
The cakes are moist and the buttercream frosting is delicious- not too heavy. The tastings that they host at their store are fun, I brought my mother and my bridal party with me and we tasted cake until we were sick to our stomachs. They have a lot of flavor options- I ended up selecting Wild Strawberry (a white cake) for my wedding cake and Chocolate Chocolate Chip for the groom's cake.
The groom's cake was a large sheet cake and my husband, being a big college football fan, wanted his alma mater's stadium crafted on it. I provided a picture and they went with it and ended up exceeding my expectations. They even put little plastic goal posts in for us. It was fantastic and a huge crowd pleaser- we almost didn't want to cut it in order to serve it, it looked THAT good!

The cake was delicious! If you love fluffy buttercream frosting as I do, this is the place to go. We tried one other cake baker and their cake was comparable but the frosting here is what sold us. The flavors are wonderful too. They have a monthly open house where you can go and taste samples, and they let me take some samples home for my fiance too. We loved just about everything we tried. They have tons of styles to choose from or you can create your own. We were very pleased with them and the cake was a hit.

Custom Cake Design was wonderful. The cake was extremely moist, and the flavors were wonderful. We got our rehearsal dinner cake and our wedding cake from them. We had a mix up with where we were supposed to order our cake, and we had to order only about 2 months in advance of the wedding, but there was no problem at all.

The staff was very nice and helpful, and they were able to give us exactly what we wanted. the cake was beautiful. All of our guests thought it looked like a present. And the cake was yummy.

I would definitely recommend Custom Cake Designs. We had both our wedding cake and our groom's cake done by them and both were great! We went with their signature White Raspberry for the main cake and it was DELICIOUS! They did exactly what I asked for, however I did think that it was a little pricey to add on various options, but in the end it was not bad! I also wanted to surprise my fiance (now husband) with a groom's cake. He loves Penn State football and I was able to find a picture of a cake that I loved of a football field with a big football in the middle. Complete with goal posts and everything. I sent them a picture and a copy of some of the logos and they were able to make the cake. it was a big hit and my husband was so suprised and excited. For that cake we used the chocolate, chocolate chip and it was really really good! Everyone there is VERY friendly and helpful!

Custom Cake was great to work with. They spent a lot of time helping to design the perfect cake that was not only beautiful but delicious! We also received a reduced delivery fee since they are a preferred vendor for our venue.

Cake was delicious, and looked exactly how I wanted it to. I brought in a photo from a magazine, and it was almost an identical replica of the cake in the picture. We were able to taste test all different flavors with no troubles. Everyone thought the cake was absolutely beautiful, and it was with custom cake flowers separating the bottom two layers. YUMMY! Made my dream cake a dream come true!

Every effort was made to make the display tables elegant and ready for pictures. No detail was left undone. Cake was their signature White Raspberry flavor. Their cakes are moist and the icing is not overly sweet.

All of my guests commented on how good the cake was and the chocolate fountain was definitely very impressive as well.

Nancy and her staff hold a monthly Open House so that I was able to taste test many flavors of cakes and look through all of their photo books. Their showroom is beautiful.

I loved the cake. They made it easy and quick, were happy to give me samples to take home for my fiance, and were great with price negotiation. Absolutely delicious and a breeze.
I would recommend tasting their cake either way. It is by far better than any other cake in the area. Especially their specialty, which is the white raspberry.

LOVE THEM. My cousin and I were married with in a month of each other. Her wedding was after mine. Most of my family attended both and I got soooo many comments that my cake was much better than hers. The ironic part is I had a white raspberry cake. She had a white cake with raspberry filling. THey give many choices that you can actually see on "cakes", not just pictures of cakes. And they have a ton...TON of flavors to choose from. The cake was moist and stayed moist. Our one year piece was just as if was at the wedding! And I loved the convient bridal open houses.

They were part of the package with Marriott but they were excellent. Their staff was extremely helpful in making sure we didn't over spend but that we got the best value and best cake possible. We went with their signature flavor and it was a hit. I can't wait for our year anniversary to come around so that we can dig into the top layer of the cake.

Two words: Chocolate chip. We wanted something different for our wedding cake, but not too different. Everyone was so surprised at the reception to be served a delicious slice of chocolate chip wedding cake. Not only did the cake taste wonderful, but it looked wonderful as well. Our design was somewhat simple, but it did not look that way at all. Also, they did a very good job matching the icing color to the flowers on the cake. They were very responsive to all of our questions and concerns. And, I must say that a year later, our top layer was just as delicious. The monthly open house is a must, but be prepared for a bit of a crowd. Plan to get there early if you can.

Yummy, beautiful and affordable compared to other places we looked. They designed the cake exactly how I requested and it was beautiful. I wish I had a chance to eat more of it on the wedidng night, but it still tasted good on our anniversary!

The first time I knew about Nancy's cakes was when she baked a delicious cake for our Junior High class. When it came time for my wedding, I knew I had to have the same wonderful lady be part of this happy memory.

My wife and I wanted a carmel flavored cake - and Nancy went out of her way to create such an uncommon flavor. Because I'm stationed overseas, it was 2 years before we got around to eating our anniversary cake - but when we did, it was just as tasty as the day of our wedding.

My wife said Nancy was a joy to work with. I'm sure brides involved in the details of planning the wedding would like to have someone who is very upfront in explaining to them what they can and can't expect from the service. Not only did Nancy and her folks show that kind of polished professionalism you'd expect from a business that's been around for more than 25 years, she also gives us the same loving attention, as if we were part of her family.

They were very cooperative and accommodating of my desires and the cake was mouth watering. They were very patient and informative. We tasted the cake from another supposed-to-be popular cake place and they were rude and the cake wasn't near as good and it cost more. I was very impressed with Custom Cakes and how easy, convenient and good tasting everything was with them.
