Dianne was excellent to work with - she made our ceremony so special and memorable. She had us each fill out a detailed questionnaire about our relationship and she used that to make a very customized, personalized ceremony. She also met with us prior to our wedding day to get to know us and help us feel comfortable with her as the officiant. She is a very energetic and charismatic person and our ceremony was beautiful!

When I lived in Charleston I was not thinking about a wedding so never looked at venues, etc. Living in Virginia and planning a Charleston wedding would have been an big challenge if I did not have Brides Advisor Charleston to guide me through it every step of the way. It saved my life! I cant say enough good things about it. It should be required reading for every Charleston bride. Thanks to the authors of this great book!

About Custom Wedding Ceremonies

Custom Wedding Ceremony is a unique wedding vendor writing a special ceremony for each couple honoring their unique relaitonship, love and experiences together. We also stage and run the rehearsal.

We meet and interview each couple either in person or online we find out how they met, when they knew this was it, whats important to them as a couple. Plus any special passages, poems, song lyrics or anything that is meaningful to the couple. We write the first draft and submit it for changes and/or additions until it feels just right.

We stage the rehearsal establishing entrances and who walks in with whom and run it until everyone feels comfortable so that there are no worries for the wedding day.

On the wedding day we arrive about an hour ahead of time to check that everyone is there and on track.

We perform the ceremony, sign and file the license. We offer unlimited emails.

We now offer legal services to look over and advise on all of your contracts with vendors and help with purchase of cars, houses, etc. Plus making sure you get fair treatment when making purchases for your home.

What religious affiliations do you serve?

Christian (no denomination), Christian - Anglican, Christian - Baptist, Christian - Catholic, Christian - Episcopalian, Christian - Lutheran, Christian - Methodist, Christian - Mormon, Christian - Orthodox, Christian - Presbyterian, Christian - Quaker, Evangelical, Jewish

Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?

Yes

What is your attire for the ceremony?

I wear a black skirt with a black taffeta jacket.

Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?

I write whatever fits best for each couple. Often couples like to say their own words before the vows and they are also able to write their own if they prefer. My wish is to give them what they want on their special day.

Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?

Yes. If that's what they want. I always keep a copy just in case they forget to bring them or are too emotional to read them.

Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?

No. I write a ceremony that is just for them. However, I do show them ceremonies that I have already written so they get an idea of the broad range of what is available.

How long are your ceremonies?

Between 12 and 18 minutes.

Do you require that premarital counseling be done?

No. But since I have a masters in counseling I am open to offering if they request it.

Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?

I always stage and run their rehearsal unless they do not want one. I focus on who walks the grandmothers and mothers in, who will be seated in the front row,where everyone will stand, the processional and recessional, where the bride and her girls will enter. Where groomsmen and groom will enter, how programs will be handed out and any announcements they would like me to make after the ceremony. Plus a private moment location for the couple and where we sign the license.

Do you supply a sound system?

I do not.

Additional Advice

I want each couple to feel special and I will do whatever I can to help them feel comfortable and relaxed on their wedding day. I am more than happy to answer any questions and offer unlimited emails. If it is a destination wedding and we haven't met before I meet with the couple prior to their wedding day so they will feel comfortable with me.

On the wedding day I arrive about an hour ahead of time and check that everyone is there, offer support to the bride and groom and check that the ceremony site is set up properly with no obstructions.
