Doug was the absolute best. He was always quick to respond throughout the process and his photos were wonderful. He by far exceeded our expectations and he was a delight to work with. He was by far the easiest vendor we dealt with for our wedding. There are not enough positive words to describe my experience.

Doug was fantastic to work with and we received beautiful pictures that will last us a lifetime. Willing to go above and beyond to get the job done. I came to trust his abilities and personality so much that not a single worry crossed my mind about pictures on the day of the wedding or before.

Doug, our photographer, was the BEST part of our wedding. We had a great time taking pictures - it was really relaxing to have Doug around. I still look at our wedding pictures almost every day and am SO happy we found Doug to do our wedding photography. He has exceptional listening skills and is extremely passionate about photography. He put more effort and time into our pictures than we had ever anticipated. Doug is really intuitive and has an ability to sense what people want. We tell everyone we know who needs photography to go see our friend Doug Loates! Thanks SO MUCH Doug! ;-)

Doug was absolutely, without a doubt, the best part of our wedding. We thought of him much more as a friend and member of the family after he shot our wedding, than just a photographer. My wife and I are both not the biggest fan of being in pictures, but Doug went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable, to point where most of the time when we were shooting, it literally felt like he wasnt even taking pictures of us (although the 2000+ photos he DID take proved me wrong). We took the photography for our wedding very serious and met with a few other photographers before we found Doug, but right when we met him, we both knew that he was the one that was going to be a part of our wedding. There was no pressure, and in fact after he showed us some of his work and talked us through what he would do for us, he basically said that if we never spoke to him again he just wanted us to make sure that we made the right decision, since we would never be doing it again. He urged us to meet with other photographers, feel them out, and if after doing all of that we still felt good about him, to give him a call. After we had decided on working with Doug, he took a ton of his own personal time and effort to shoot our "Engagement Shoot" as well as to make sure that all of our pictures turned out perfectly. We continue to keep in contact with Doug two years later and continue to refer him to every single person that we know who might even be considering getting married. If I could have rated him more than 5 stars, I would have...
About D. Loates Fine Art
Doug and his team provide award-winning wedding photography to discerning clients in Seattle and Tacoma and select destinations. First and foremost, Doug Loates is an artist. He is known principally for his painting and drawing but his photography is rapidly gaining recognition. He brings the same artist’s eye and sensibility to his photographic process. from your very first meeting with him, you are going to a totally different place than you would with other photographers. He believes in building a relationship with the couples he photographs so the quality of the work will reflect that connection. Your experience with Doug will be unforgettable – fun, rewarding, creative, fun, satisfying, relaxing, fun, exhilerating, fun (did I mention fun?)
Doug is a full-time artist and photographer. He does Wedding Photography because he LOVES doing Wedding Photography. (He books only two weddings a month so he can give you the attention that you deserve - to make sure your Wedding gets the photographic coverage that will blow your socks off!) He takes Wedding Photography to a whole new level. And it’s catching on…..
With the advent of lower cost, semi-pro digital cameras it seems like more and more folks are getting into the game. Most photographers are looking for something that will set them apart. Trendy, edgy post-processing. Funky web-sites. Remarkably low prices. We were sitting around discussing why anyone would choose us to capture their Wedding Story and we kept coming back to the central pillars of our business:
utmost confidence in our ability to deliver a stunning photography experience.
- We make sure that we exceed our clients’ expectations.
- We are emotional, honest and real. We care passionately about the craft but care even more
about our friends.
- Our clients become our friends.
- We WILL have fun!
You won’t regret it!

The Experience,
Even before you decide which photographer to hire, we would like the opportunity to meet with you to help you understand your options. Photography is a crowded and confusing business - you have so many choices to make and being informed will help you avoid disappointment. We believe that selecting a photographer that meets your style and output expectations starts at this first meeting. We know that we won’t be a fit with every couple that we meet but we still feel that it is important to provide you with the knowledge, exposure to various options and questions to ask when making this critical decision. We believe that photographing your Wedding should be approached with the same care and attention as creating a piece of fine art. And to be quite frank, this is our competitive advantage.
If you decide that we are a fit, we will provide you with computer tools to help you plan your Wedding day. We will meet with you as many times as necessary before your wedding to make sure that we have every detail nailed down. We leave nothing to chance.

We encourage you to have a photo session with Doug before the Wedding to help you get used to being in front of the camera. Even though our team uses a blend of photo-journalistic and fashion photography, you will still love and appreciate getting the jitters out of your system! Some of our clients favorite photos come from our engagement sessions.

Whether you bring our team on board to provide simple digital coverage of your Wedding or you ask us to provide prints, albums and the whole enchilada, you won’t question the care and attention your special day receives. And you’ll love the experience and the photography!
Your photographer should be a master storyteller. Creating the photographic documentation of your special day can’t be left to chance. There are no “do-overs” at a Wedding so bring a photographer on board who can anticipate those magical, emotional moments and has the vision to capture these memories with style, skill and confidence.

Doug will create beautiful images of your Wedding that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
Period.
