Dan was a pleasure to work with. He did a great job with the photos and Video for our wedding. He was extremely prompt with returning phone calls and emails and helped us every step of the way. We had the disk with our pictures so quickly. People were amazed when I told them that we had all our photos already.
Early on we decided that we were not going to have video done. The week before the wedding we changed our minds. Dan was able to accommodate us and provide his Videographer on such short notice we were happy to use him for that as well.
You really can't find a better guy. We highly recommend him!

Dan excelled in all areas but I wish there were six stars for value for cost and quality of service. He did everything we asked and the photos came out beautifully. I have heard nightmare stories of brides not getting their pictures for a year or more but mine were ready within a month. People who hadn't seen the pictures and either visit his website or see my own personal ones always comment on how amazing they are. I did not have such amazing service with all my wedding vendors but I would recommend Dan Lungen to anyone.

Dan is an award winning photographer practicing the art of photography for over twenty five years. Since then, his love of aviation (as a former airline Captain), music and the fine arts are all positive experiences that honed and shaped his photographic style. Our Wedding Albums are custom designed by Dan himself. The newlyweds choose the photos that they want to see in the album along with the style of album that they want i.e. Traditional, Modern or Contemporary. FAQ for Dan Lungen Photography, Inc
Q. Are there any additional fees to your package prices? Travel, etc?
A. No additional fees for my package prices. There are no surprises and no additional fees as far as travel, if it is a local venue, upto 2hrs driving time from Nanuet, NY.
Q. How many pictures do you generally take in a 10 hour period, i.e. how many proofs will I receive?
A. I usually take anywhere from 700-900 pictures in a ten hour wedding day and if your package includes proofs then you will receive premium proofs for all photographs taken that day.
Q. How many photographers come on the day of the event? I'm expecting at least 175 people.
A. I personally photograph all weddings that I book. 175 people is an average size wedding for me and I usually do not recommend a second shooter until the guest list tops 200 or more people, even then I have photographed weddings solo with almost 300 guests. A second shooter is an option for you to consider, regardless of the number of guests, if you would like different angles of all the action going on as well as if you would like the groom photographed getting ready (pre ceremony) at a different location from the bride.
Q. Can I see proofs from past weddings that you have photographed?
A. Of Course you can.
Q. Can you send me references?
A. Yes. If you would like, you may log onto the weddingwire.com and search for me. I have several references there for you to look at and feel free to contact any of them.
Q. How many pictures does the bride/groom album hold?
A. I include a 20 page, 40 side, custom design, leather covered and in the color of your choice wedding album with the gold and platinum wedding packages. I tell my clients to choose at least 40-60 pictures that they would like to see in the album. You can have more if you wish but that may require additional pages in the album then there will be a small additional charge.
Q. Can I customize your packages? i.e. take things out/put things in I may (not) need. For ex. I don't need printed proofs, nor do I need parent albums- can that help lower price? Or can I substitute things?
A. Yes, we can customize the package for you and you only pay for what you want. I don't want to sell you something that you don't need or want. For example, If you do not want printed proofs, then that will reduce the package by 200.00.
Q. With the CD I get from you, are all the pictures you take on a DVD ? And say 10 years down the line I wanted to print a picture, am I able to do that from the CD, or will the pictures have a watermark or something across the image?
A. All photographs that I take that day are put onto a DVD in file form. Meaning that you can put them into a computer and pull up all the photos, this is not a custom designed slide show but that can be created for you if you desire. The photos I take are shot with a 21 megapixel digital camera (at this time and by next year probably will upgrade to a higher resolution camera if they become available). A DVD or CD has a shelf life of 15-20 years before the files become degradable. So for example if you transfer the photos from your disc to a hard drive then you shouldn't have any problems down the road. There is no watermarks or anything across the images. You can print all the pictures as many times as you like from these discs.
Q. What is the turn around time for getting the pictures online? for getting the DVD? and for receiving the album?
A. As soon as I am done editing the photos they go online. This takes usually 3- 5 days after the event and then the discs are shipped. Its very nice to have the discs and /or proofs waiting at your door right after you come back from your honeymoon. The album takes a bit longer. After the client chooses the photos that he/she would like in the album, I will design the album with your input ( traditional/ contemporary/ modern). I then send thumbnails of the layout via email for any changes/input from the client. Then with the clients approval for the album, the files are sent out to the album company for print and bind. It takes on the average 8-10 weeks from the time the files are sent to the company to receive the album. I am currently using a company that is located in Italy,
Q. Do I get the rights to my negatives?
A. You have rights to the digital negatives to print and use them as you like but the only clause that I have in the contract would be that you may not profit from them without my consent.
Q. How many hours of re-touching is spent on my photos? For ex. For every 1 hours of shooting, there's 1 hour of re-touching.
A. It varies. I personally edit all photos that I take. I color correct each photo one at a time on a color calibrated monitor. I do not batch edit, meaning I don't group the photos together and allow the computer to do it, such as if you took photos to a CVS or walgreens or other commercial developer. I then choose photos that I feel are capable of being edited with special effects such as B/W, Sepia and partial color B/W. I now have a special digital camera that is exclusively used for Infra red photography, It is a nice effect (I think). To answer your question, On an average wedding 700-900 photos takes me approx. 12hrs to edit give or take.
Q. How long does it take to do the formal shots with bridal party, family, etc? I do really enjoy candids and a photojournalistic style, however I do want some traditional/formal shots with our bridal party, both families, and the bride/groom alone.
A. Depending on the size of the wedding party and extended family, an average wedding portrait shoot takes about an hour.
