Danish Pastry House
The Danish Pastry House was the selected cake vendor by my venue. We were really impressed at the tasting and Kathleen was so easy to work with in designing exactly what I was looking for. The cake was fluffy and moist and everyone was in love with it.
Danish pastry house provided our cupcakes at our wedding and everyone raved about how fabulously fresh and delicious they were. They worked with us on colors and flavors and were absolutely wonderful! Yum!
My mom had some very specific ideas about what kind of desserts she wanted, which included croquembouche, Sacher torte, and Dobis torte. I just wanted a beautiful and bountiful spread of delicious cakes. We ended up with the best of both. I found the DPH by googling "sacher torte boston", saw they were located close to my house and had great Yelp reviews. They were the last place we tasted, but by far the best. Kathleen, the owner, was sweet, open to our ideas, and gave us great advice. She even had the girls give me a free treat when I stopped by before the wedding to drop off the topper. Our cakes: Sacher torte, lemon raspberry, passion fruit, chocolate caramel pear, and Othello (chocolate with strawberries and marzipan). Cookies: French macarons, meringues, and almond florentines. Even with all this goodness, it was still way less expensive than a traditional wedding cake. Our guests, and even other vendors, raved about the cakes and goodies. I'm so excited for my new husband and I to dig into our top tier of Othello, which is sitting in the freezer, just waiting for our eager forks!
One of our primary objectives was to find a cake that was both tasty and beautiful. After trying standard and boring (and overly sweet) “American wedding cakes” from a number of vendors, we were wonderfully pleased to discover the Danish Pastry House. They provided both a tiered cake for us (a Lemon Mousse Cake with Fresh Raspberries and Marzipan Icing) as well as a sheet cake (Chocolate “Sacher” Torte with Bittersweet Chocolate Mousse, Apricot Preserves, Fresh Raspberries, and Marzipan Icing). Using a sheet cake to feed some of the guests provided some choice in cake flavor, as well as a more affordable option to a larger tiered cake. Both cakes were delicious, and we received many compliments from guests on them! The Lemon Mousse Cake provided just the right level of tang and sweetness, and the Chocolate Sacher Torte was just heavenly.
We met with Kathleen (one of the owners) and had a private tasting with her at their Medford store. She was a delight to work with, and it was fun working with a small business who really cares about the quality of their product.
We had been using a design motif throughout our wedding materials and had made our own cake topper, and the Danish Pastry House took some of our design elements/themes and adapted them perfectly to make one of the most beautiful wedding cakes we’ve ever seen. We were blown away at the quality of their decorating, and it was a wonderful surprise to see it when we walked onto the dance floor at our reception.
We look forward to going back to their store and getting some of their cakes for future special occasions!
Danish Pastry House made the most amazing and delicious wedding cake I've ever seen and tasted! Working with Kathleen was such a treat! We had a cake tasting at the cafe/bakery in Medford, where we sampled flavors and fillings such as amaretto mousse and Bavarian creme. There were so many delicious flavors, we decided to choose a couple! I highly recommend Danish Pastry House not only for the wedding cake, but also for the post wedding brunch! I love their European breakfast pastry! Definitely make a trip to Danish Pastry House...you'll see why they've gotten soo much great press!
