Davids Bridal
Reviews for Davids Bridal

My bridesmaid dresses are through David's Bridal purely for the convenience of it; half of my bridesmaids live out of state, so it's much easier if they can go to the David's closest to their home. David's is also one of the less expensive BM dress retailers, which was also important as I wanted to keep costs affordable for the BM's. That being said, every time I go into this store, it is pure chaos. There are rogue brides and family/friends of brides clogging the store and the racks, the line is backed up 30 minutes long at the cash register...it's ridiculous. They screwed up and ordered the wrong dress for one of my BM's and just seem to have a very careless way of doing business and servicing customers.
If you're going for cost effective and lots of style options, David's is great. If good customer service, knowledgeable sales associates, and a calm, non-chaotic store atmostphere is what you're looking for, then I would stay away. On a side note...I did NOT purchase my gown from David's!

My daughter found a dress in their catalog that she loved and she was told it was unavailable at first. Then Tracy entered into the picture and she not only found the dress for my daughter to try on, but was also able to order her a brand new one at the sale price. After that, we had no problems at all with her fittings and they packed it for her destination wedding so well, it didn't even need to be pressed when we got there!

Loved my dress, but every time i called or went in to the store my orders were wrong. They were not very helpful either.

I enjoyed myself here, Jennifer originally helped me then passed me on to Ivy. I purchased a Vera Wang ballgown, which everyone loved!!! I also purchased flower girl dresses, bridal dresses, shoes, (3) veils, mother of the bride dresses, card box, ring bearer pillow, runner, garter, flower girl basket, hair pieces. They really took good care of us, PLEASE when you go PLEASE ask for Mrs. IVY, if she isn't there make an appointment and she will take care of you... Please tell her Venus sent you!!!! Love her.......

I was truely beyond disappointed with the customer servive from all michigan David's Bridal's I dealt with. Dearborn, Ann Arbor, Novi, and one in Tennesse. My bridesmaid's shoes were lilac purple NOT Truffle brown. They were horrible about calling people when there items came in. My peek-aboo skirts were discontinued and they never bothered to call and tell me. I found out from a bridesmaid. Chewing out the Novi manager, calling 7 Ohio David's to find the sizes left I needed and I had only located 2 out of 3. My bridesmaid Carly came to the rescue. 3 skirts from 3 states and a BF later. They came to my house from 3 different states. Will never recommend them.....

We purchased our Brides Maids dresses from David's as well as our shoes. The service was horrible, but we knew what we wanted and helped ourselves. In the end the dresses came in as sized, and the shoes looked great. Don't go here for the service, but we got a great deal.
GUEST

Loved the bridesmaids dresses we picked out from David's...beautiful, affordable and something they can all wear again :)
GUEST

I truly loved Jessica who did my fitting and adored my dress. They were prompt and helpful. I did not have my dress altered by them because I heard horror stories, but the purchasing process was quick, easy and inexpensive.

Evelyn was my sales consultant and did such an amazing job assisting my bridal party and I pick our dresses. I have been to many dress shops and though others typically don't have a great experience there, I would say this particular location in Madison Heights is fantastic!

A found the most perfect wedding dress at David's Bridal, they have a HUGE selection! They are also much more affordable than some of the smaller stores. They were very helpful when I went to try on dresses and they really try to make you feel special. They even offered to play my wedding song while I tried on dresses!
GUEST

The people at Novi are very nice, but the one in Madison Heights has more experienced staff! All the dresses were beautiful, but the one I found was AMAZING! Great selection

I shopped at 4 David's Bridal stores in Michigan and all but the store in Novi were rude to me. I ended up buying my dress and veil there without needing any alterations! If this is the case for you, make sure that you get them to add your bustle! I forgot to do this, and my mom had to do it. It didn't last me nearly long enough before snapping! That being said. The dresses really are reasonably priced (mine was on sale for $299!) The accessories there are slightly expensive though. Make sure that you make them press the dress if you buy off of the rack like I did. We had to take it back to get it pressed and the store in Tennessee did not do it, leading us to just take it to the cleaners.

I went to my appointment with a few dresses in mind to try on. I was a little upset that the top dress that I wanted to try on they didn't have in my size, it was either too small or way too big to even get a good idea. But my consultant Evie went through my list of dresses and help me eliminate all the ones that they didn't have or after talking to me which ones she knew I really wouldn't like based on the look that I was going for. The first dress she brought me was "the dress" which I did end up purchasing but since I was with my mom, grandma, and aunt, I had to try on a few more to appease them. After finally getting everyone to agree on my dress, Evie helped us pick out dresses for my maid of honor, flower girl, and my mom even picked out her mother of the bride dress that day. We had a great experience and I feel almost anyone who has anything bad to say about the dress shopping experience, was either A, going into David's with a bad attitude to begin with, or didn't have the right consultant. Because I did see a few people working there that all they did was shove the bride into a fitting room, brought them a couple of dresses and walked away and let them do the rest. My consultant was very attentive the whole time and helped us with everything :o)

-annual sales of all dresses offer good prices

Everything was great. I found an awesome dress for around $300. We ordered bridesmaid dresses from here as well. All was good with that except one of the bridesmaids did not receive a call or anything letting them know her dress had arrived.
GUEST

Do buy your dress here. Don't waste $2500 on a dress that frankly doesn't do anything a $500 dress won't do. Save that money for a huge cake, an upgrade to your reception venue, ceremony music, or airfare to Greece.Don't get your dress altered here. They will ruin it, and they will do it without remorse. They will not tell you it looks bad. They want you to feel good, and they're more concerned with that than actually making sure your dress is red-carpet worthy.
GUEST

I got the dress I wanted with little drama and the alterations were done on time with only one minor issue. Went back next day and got it. Loved the dress.
GUEST

I only chose David's Bridal because I had so many out of state bridesmaids so I knew what I was getting into before hand. I really wasn't too shocked to find that it's a circus in the store everyday. Most people I dealt with were overwhelmed but still friendly. Even when you make an appointment you're like 1 of 10 at that same time so expect to wait for them to pull more dresses while you stand there staring at yourself for 20minutes. Every person will give you a different answer to your questions which was really annoying. Never get your dress altered there because those prices are ridiculous. Bring a chair to the register with you because that's another wait and it takes forever to get rung up.
GUEST

I first would like to thank stephanie for being so wonderful, helping me to find my dress!!! she is the best. however, when you go to alterations, that is another story. they messed up the alterations on the length of the dress. (yes i did have my shoes when they pinned it for alterations) therefore this made all the planning i had done for pictures of just the dress and accessories not happen. i was suppose to have my dress the week before my wedding. instead i got it 2 days before my wedding. very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I only decided to go with David's Bridal because by bridesmaids were in three different states and I wanted them to have a convenient location to try on the dresses. I visited the Novi location for my first search of bridesmaid dresses and was displeased with the lack of stock they had. More than half of the dresses I wanted to see on they didn't have in the store at all. Madison Heights has a way better selection however I think they need to hire more consultants. My rep Michelle was very sweet but I felt like I was rushed and times and not given that attention I received at other bridal shops because she would be helping me and another bride or TWO. I also could not believe when I got a call 6 weeks before my wedding to find out my maid of honor dresses were on 6 WEEK back order. Even after I had two ladies rush in to order their dress the next day they never got the call that their dresses came in. I only discovered it by chance when I went in to have my gown altered and it popped up on the screen when I went to exchange my slip! However the price for my gown could not be beat just can't say the same for their accessories (veil, headpiece, shoes, jewelry) which I got all at other places for a lot less and better quality.

They were quite helpful in finding my dress. They somehow ordered me an extra veil. They also sometimes took a while to get to my group.

I had read several reviews about David’s Bridal and had read good and a lot of bad stories about the place. I decided to see for myself and went with an open mind. My first impression of the store was a big bridal warehouse and could easily be overwhelming. The lady at the front desk was not overly polite and didn’t really explain anything, just gave me a bunch of forms to fill out. Be careful giving your address, phone number and email as they and their vendors will bombard you with advertisements. I had an appointment (definitely recommended if not demanded) so I had a consultant assigned to me. I had already been to a few other bridal shops so I had an idea of what I liked and what looked good on me. The consultant introduced herself and then gave us a book to look through to see what I wanted to try on. The service was a bit slow and I had to wait to change into different dresses. My consultant was a bit rude although never said anything mean to me. It was more her attitude – it seem like she was put off that she had to help me and that she didn’t really want to be there. I had to ask several times for her to help with dresses as I am a size zero and just about all of the dresses were huge on me and needed to be clipped. She didn’t really offer her opinion on the dresses as I was trying them and didn’t suggest other dresses I might like. Thankfully I didn’t like any dresses at the store and didn’t need to ever go back. I wouldn’t recommend going to David’s Bridal based on the service but if you do go, don’t go alone – bring a friend or two!

Got my dress at the Madison Heights store. Sales staff was average, customer service was average, tailor was average. BUT, the deciding factor was the fact that my dress was $400 cheaper there than at the designer salon in my home town. I'll take average service for a $400 savings.

I have to admit, I was very happy with how my dress turned out. It fit well, it looked beautiful, and, since I had it specially made with no train, it was comfortable for the entire day. I also found most of the sales staff that I worked with to be very friendly, patient, and helpful. That said, shopping at David's is certainly not an ideal experience. Even if you have an appointment, you are often competing with many other customers for the attention of one of their sales staff and the store turns into a complete zoo on the weekends. I also think their selection of accessories (shoes, slips, corsets, tiaras, etc.) is poor and I think it is awful that they frequently sell customers accessories that have been tried on by others numerous times. I often saw tiaras that were bent/broken, slips and shoes with obvious wear, etc. being displayed and sold as new. I did get a decent deal on my dress, as it was one of "last year's", but I felt that they really tried to nickel and dime me to death with their crappy accessories and added fees. For example, they charge you a separate $10 fee for a garment bag for your dress when you pick it up. Seriously, if you don't pay it they will give you your dress in a flimsy clear plastic bag, which I found ridiculous. I also was disappointed in the "coupon book" that they give you with your dress purchase. Most of the coupons are completely useless because they don't apply to stuff that is on sale (and most of their products are already "on sale"). You will also get frequent annoying phone calls from their corporate center requesting reviews of your experience with them, asking if they can sell you more stuff for your wedding party, etc, so be careful which phone number you give them.

What a horrible experience...I bought my dress here and ended up returning it to the Ann Arbor store and buying a new one there (that was a wonderful experience). We stopped by the store to look at dresses and were told that we needed an appointment even though there were 5 consultants just standing around and only 4 customers (including us) in the entire store. So, we made an appointment and came back the next day.The consultant only pulled the dresses I specifically asked for...she didn't take any initiative to suggest other dresses, just handed me the catalog and said let me know what dresses you want to try.I only tried on 5 dresses and one of them which I liked was discontinued so it was on limited availability and they told me if I didn't buy it right then it probably wouldn't be there the next day. So, needless to say I felt really pressured, but I liked the dress so I bought it and the slip which I was told I had to have or the dresses wouldn't hang right (I ended up not wearing one under my dress) and went home. A few weeks later I tried my dress on again and started crying because it looked awful on me...I looked like an ivory snow beast! I was horrified and all sales are final (so they told me). But, I was able to exchange it for in store credit at the Ann Arbor store and get the dress of my dreams. The consultants I worked with at the Novi store seemed more interested in getting a commission than in making sure I had the right dress for me.Also, that discontinued will be gone tommorrow dress is still available 10 months later.
GUEST

great service, fast, bridesmaid dresses came smaller than the ones tried on at store.
GUEST

Sales associates are the best. They helped me pick the dress of my dreams and were honest with me. Encouraged me to try a variety of styles to find the best look for me. I love them for that!
GUEST

I got a great deal on a dress that was "so two seasons ago" which made it half off. I was exactally what I wanted I went to pick it up and it was packaged perfectly with a cardboard support and bagged in a long bag, I inspected it and found a hole. They offered to find me another dress without the hole. I went to pick up it up it was on a hanger in a bag that was too short I had to ask them for another one so the bottom wouldn't get dirty. Once they had gotten their money they were less helpful.
GUEST

David's offered great deals on dresses. I actually bought my gown at the David's in Flint, however I've had all my bridesmaids by their dresses here. I've also gotten my bridesmaids dresses for other weddings I have stood up in as well. Overall good prices, the service is hit or miss
GUEST

We went with Davids for my dress and my bridesmaids. I tried on 5 dresses , picked one, never had an appointment (an appointment is recommended) I found the dress I loved the first time there, it fit perfect, didnt need any altering and took it home the next month. I had no problems at all with this vendor.
GUEST

Wasnt great, Wasnt horrible. The dresses were good to choose from, good price, but their staff sucked!! Especially the seamstress! and the alterations were ridiculously expensive!
GUEST

I would recommend David's, even though the service wasn't always the best. If you make an appointment you're good, walk in's forget it, unless there isn't anyone in the store! The sales girl I finally ended up with was great and helped me pick the ideal dress, then when it went on sale for 1/2 the normal price she called to tell me. I ended up with my dream dress at half the price. It's worth it to go to David's and save on a dress that you will only wear once if you're lucky!!! They have beautiful designer dresses, so don't be a snob, check it out. They are a lot more convenient too, since some places close at five or are by appointment only. At least at David's you can look without an appointment.
GUEST

They did well in all of these categories, but I felt like I was just another one of the gazillion brides that go there. I really liked my consultant - Evelyn.
GUEST

Good Ol' David's Bridal.First I have to say that Nikki and Michelle are THE BEST!!!Second - I didn't want to spend $5k on my dress and I wanted to look good - mission accomplished! Can't go wrong. Service can be sketchy, but luckily I formed a relationship with to dress girls and it was like I was being welcomed home every time I stepped inside!

After shopping around at other bridal stores, I found the dress I loved at David's Bridal. It wasn't an easy task. I had made a list of about 8 dresses that I liked online and wanted to try on. She only brought about 2 dresses from my list before bringing other dresses she picked out, which were nothing like the others that I wanted to try. Much more expensive too. After a couple hours of sending her back to grab dresses I liked, I flipped through their magazine once more and a dress caught my eye. I tried it on and bought it. There was confusion about the return policy (I ordered it around Thanksgiving for an October wedding). Luckily I didn't need to make a return. I was overall very happy with the dress, although I spent nearly the same amount of money on the dress as I did on the alterations. Over 130 dollars to hem the bottom of the skirt! It was hugely expensive. There were several issues with my wedding information on their computer system, and 2 associated tried telling me that my wedding was not the day I told them. I think I would know something so important. There were a couple of accessory items that were ordered wrong or not ordered at all that I had to go back in and order again. My mom had shoes dyed to match her dress, and they came back horrible. They were streaks and spots. They never looked at the shoes before they sent them to the store or before they called us. So they sent another pair to be dyed. I got a call telling my mom that he shoes had come in, and once she got to the store to pick them up (a 30 minute drive), she was told that the white shoes were in, they still needed to be sent out to be dyed. It seemed like nothing was easy with them.If you can go to a nicer, smaller, private bridal shop, the extra cost will probably save you plenty of confusion down the road. It might be worth it!
GUEST

Good service, loved my dress. They were flexible and worked with me. The only negative is I didn't get as much personal one-on-one attention as I would have at a small boutique.
GUEST

Emily was my salesperson and she did a wonderful job assisting me and my bridesmaids fiind the perfect dresses!

This David's Bridal was pretty good, thy where patient and helped me find my perfect dress at a good price. The only problem i had was during alteration. I needed to have my dress let out a little so I had to pay extra for fabric so they could let the dress out, well the fabric they ordered was wrong so then I had to go and purchase the material myself. So that time the store spent to order the material was lost time that they could have worked on altering my dress. At first for every appointment someone would call me to remind me, as time went on thy stopped calling me, and they werenÂ’t very accommodating to me for my final fitting. Which I donÂ’t really think is their fault because it was a very busy wedding time and a lot of people where getting married when I was so I wasn't really able to the time I wanted for my final fitting. However, as far as the actual work they did on my dress, it was wonderful, and I would recommend them as a place to purchase a dress.

I had a very positive expirence. Everyone was very pleasent in there everytime i walked in. They were always willing to help and when they did were very helpfull with everyting i needed.
GUEST

Obviously, their assortment and ability to get what you the size and style you want is wonderful but the service and overall attitude towards customers was rather dreadful. I loved my dress and the alterations staff were terrific, although very pricey. they are very rigid with their requirements and seem to not have heard of "the customer is always right" rule in retail. I went there for the selection and found "the dress" so I had no choice but to buy it from them since the designs are exclusive to their stores. In the end, I was very pleased with how it looked and in the grander scheme of things it really doesn't matter since it's in the past.
GUEST

David's Bridal in Novi was very accomodating and helpful. They were able to exchange my dress for a bigger size after I ordered it and found that it was a little too snug.

Since I had such a bad experience at the Madison Heights location with my bridesmaids I went to the Novi location to get my dress. I have to say I would recommend this store to any bride. The staff was amazing the store was clean and organized. I really felt like I was getting the personal attention I deserved. The best part was the dresses were beautiful and I ended getting the perfect dress and I only paid $400. Don't bother paying anymore for a wedding dress these are just as beautiful as the rest.
GUEST

The dress was beautiful for a very low price.

This particular location (Novi, MI) was HORRIBLE. I went there to order wraps for my bridesmaids and also to reorder my maid of honors dress because the wrong size was shipped to her. This was 6 weeks before my wedding when we realized her dress was the wrong size. They told me that it wouldn't arrive, treated me like crap, and acted like I was stupid. I WOULD NOT recommend this location to anyone!
GUEST

David's Bridal was the only place I went because I didn't want to spend a ton of money on a dress I would wear once. My mom offered to pay up to $500, then said I must pay the difference. I'm cheap, and not a fashionista, so I chose David's. The sales-people were ok, the service was ok, my dress was beautiful, but I wasn't overwhelmed in any way by the staff. The seamstress that made the small adjustments and bustle on my dress was amazing, but I didn't really feel excited while I was shopping for my dress. My sister went somewhere else when she shopped, and ended up spending twice as much, but wound up with MUCH better service that made her feel like a princess! I wished I had felt that, but I was in no way disappointed with the quality of my dress. If you are the type of bride who really wants to put a lot of emphasis on the dress and the dress-shopping experience, I would NOT recommend David's Bridal. However, if you're like me, and just want an inexpensive dress, go to David's first, and don't go anywhere else afterward. Otherwise, you'll find something that's probably just as beautiful and twice as much!
GUEST

All I had to do was try on one dress and I knew it was the one. They have the best dresses to choose from at a great price.
GUEST

I went to David's Bridal to find the perfect shoes for my wedding day. They were very helpful and pleasant.
GUEST

I was able to buy my dress right off the rack! Most other places I went to needed up to 4 months to get the dress, then you still have to alter it. The alterations were perfect and swift! The only problem I had with my dress was my two side bustle buttons came off after my dress was stepped on but safety pins saved the day! We bought the bridesmaids dresses from there as well. Since the bridesmaids dresses were from there, having them pressed was free. Also, since the bridal dress was from there, everyone else in the bridal party got 15% off. The associate I worked with was Dianna and she was absolutely fantastic.
GUEST

My dress was amazing and I got a lot of really great service while I was there. I started at the one in Westland and the lady kept bringing me horrible dresses that I would clearly not wear. I kept trying to tell her my style, but got the opposite. The Novi one was like a breathe of fresh air. They listened and responded very nicely...of course I went with the first dress I tried on, the one I picked out of a catalog!!
GUEST

The ladies there were great, they helped me find the perfect dress!! I picked a few and so did they and I liked the ones they picked better
GUEST

Picking out my dress was very easy, but I would definitely recommend making an appointment before even going there because otherwise it will be difficult to get anyone to help you. As for the alterations, David's Bridal is very expensive, and my bustle ended up breaking an hour into my reception so I had to carry my train around the whole time! Also, I sent my veil and dress in to be pressed a few weeks before my big day, but they never returned the veil! Of course I didn't notice until a few hours before my ceremony when I was getting my hair done! My brother ended up having to drive 30 minutes over to the store for them to give it to me. Needless to say I was not a very happy bride. I would recommend using the company to find your dresses, but not for the alterations!
