Reviews for David's Bridal (Roseville, CA)
There are many good and bad reviews of David's Bridal. I want to throw another "good" in the ring - and this David's is the one I went to in particular. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding this June, and the bride got her dress here. She got great service and a beautiful dress at a discount, plus she was impressed with their plus size selection. Us bridesmaids were all able to order our dresses over the phone, one had it shipped, the other two left them there for the bride to pick up. We all got a discount because the bride got her dress there. All in all, an easy experience.
I didn't pick out my girl's dresses. I just told them I wanted them to wear dark purple. They all ended up going to David's Bridal, unbeknown to me and each other! They all chose different dresses, so they all got something they loved, looked great in and yet matched. They all looked wonderful ;) I don't know anything about the service or prices they got, but I didn't hear anything bad, so I assume it was fine.
I didn't get my dress from David's bridal. But I did go there to shop for shoes and accessiories. You can't beat the selection. But I felt because we were not there to buy a dress we were almost ignored. It took forever to get someone to pull shoes for us from the back. No one... not once... approached us to see if we needed any help. I guess the sales people do not make much in commission off accessories and shoe sales.
I took my FI to this David's Bridal (don't worry, I waited in the car, I don't want to see the dress until the wedding). I know David's on the peninsula usually get a bum rap. My FI said it was a great experience. She's going back there with her MOH to try on some more. I think she'll most likely get her dress there.
It was just David’s Bridal. Nothing special. The lady in there was very helpful and I bought the 3rd dress I tried on and I really did love it. She was very nice and remembered me when I came back in to buy my accessories.
This is the first David's Bridal I have gone to and had positive experiences every time! I am currently a bridesmaid in a friends wedding and we got our dresses from this David's. I also purchased my own wedding shoes here and the service was excellent. I recently went with two of my bridesmaids to buy their dresses and the manager was the one who helped us and she was wonderful. I have been very happy with their service!
They almost lost the dress and the alterations had to be redone. At least the dress was nice for the price.
Alterations:
David’s Bridal did a fine job with the alterations. They were quick and pretty comparable compared to other alteration places for wedding dresses. Not the best customer service though.
Wedding Gown:
David’s Bridal is a very affordable place to go and shop for wedding gowns. They have up to date styles that are more affordable than other wedding gown shops. Keep in mind that the dress that you purchase is probably not brand new, meaning it’s been tried on before. Once you decide on a wedding gown, be sure to do a thorough inspection on the beads, any make-ups marks or stains & any other things you see on their. The seamstresses do a check also, but just keep in mind that there is a reason why the dresses are cheaper. However, all of the other dresses there are brand new.
The customer service was very poor. Our sales associate, Patty tried to tell the bride what she could and could not try on. She left out valuable information on alterations and refused to give them for a dress purchased over a year ago, however she knew the date of the wedding at the time of purchase. She did not put the veil in the bag and by the time the bride had a dress rehearsal, the veil was discontinued. The manager sold the mother of the bride a veil that she said was almost identical and ended up not looking anything like the original veil. My bridesmaides dress was sold to me with a tare in it. Another bridesmaid ordered a dress months ago and when it finnally came in, it was the wrong size making it too late to buy another dress. Another bridesmaid ordered her dress and Patty to her that it would be shipped to her on a date post wedding after she had again been informed of the wedding date. The tuxedo store next door has heard so many complaints that they have disassociated themselves with davids bridal.
Alterations:
While they did an excellent job on my alterations, they took several weeks to get it done and the price cost almost as much as my dress did! If you’re on a budget, I’d recommend getting your alterations done somewhere else.
Bridal Gown:
I got my wedding dress at David’s for about 80% off of the original cost! David’s has quarterly sales that can’t be beat, so if you have picked out the dress of your dreams, ask the person who is helping you when there next sale is. I saved hundreds of dollars by waiting three weeks to get my dress.
David’s bridal was not personal and not professional enough for me to buy my dress there. I went online and got one cheaper and just had it altered. My bridesmaids did find dresses there but found the customer service and appointment only system not warm or inviting.
There is a LARGE variety of dresses and colors to choose from. All dresses are very reasonably priced, compared to most places. It is great for those brides with bridesmaids in other cities or states because there seems to be a David’s Bridal everywhere. ALWAYS make an appointment first, as they are always very busy and not very accommodating for those who just walk in. Also, don’t expect your bridesmaids to be able to try on their dress in the appropriate style or color.
Good if you have to buy off the rack, but there are just so many of the same dress. Service was nothing to write home about.
I have mixed feelings about David's Bridal. On the one hand I think it's an especially great place to find bridesmaid dresses! For the wedding, the bridesmaids were given the wedding colors (chosen from the David's bridal website) and told they could pick pretty much any style gown, but in a long length - that worked great! Everyone got a dress that was perfect for their figure and personal style. BUT (and I mean this is a BIG BUT) the customer service experience of EVERYONE (including the bride and mother of the bride) WAS ATROCIOUS! One time they forgot to record our appointment and didn't have a sales woman available to help us, another time the woman assigned to us during our appointment started helping a walk-in and never returned to check on us, the sales people were continually RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!
The Dress Shopping::
I had a GREAT lady named SANDRA help me. I went back and forth and had many visits with David's Bridal in Roseville, every time they were very accomodating due to circumstances. I know they like to book appointments, but every time I asked for a fitting room they would do their best to fit me in. Sandra was very patient, taught me all I need to know and did it all with a smile on her face. I found my PERFECT dress at a Great Price but also got a $100 discount on it since they were running deals. The dress came in earlier than expected, I was very pleased. However, the checkout desk takes quite a while and I do not like to wait...sometimes it takes a while for them to notice your there. The color swatches are only $1...which is awesome because you need them for almost everything! (IF you ever want GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE ASK FOR SANDRA!)
Bridesmaid Dresses: The selection is great. They don't always have the sizes, styles and color in exactly what we need at the moment, but there are many dresses that are similar so you can get more of an idea. My bridesmaids got $20 off their dresses because I bought mine there, I liked that they offer the incentive. I did not buy the flower girl dresses there because they are the same price as a bridesmaids dress..which is a little ridiculous since we know that it takes less fabric to make those. But their selection was once again great.
Alterations: I was not very pleased with Alterations. I had many appointments and alterations done before the dress was made perfect to fit. The first aleration was crooked and they would have sent me off like that if I didn't say anything...they didn't even notice.....! The English didn't come across clear enough and it seemed as if they were having difficulties understanding me and the same with me and them-That was frustraiting! They requested too much time to fix simple problems, and at my second appointment they hadn't even done the alteration...which was BS- So they asked me to come back in an hour! I felt that they were rushing the service and that's not something you would like to feel after purchasing a $700 dress! In the end the alterations were great, however I don't feel I would have gotten there if I didn't hound them...I really don't want to deal with them (Alterations!) in the future!
