Debi's Cake Studio

Debi did a wonderful job with my wedding cake. I used her because the cake was included with my package from Turf Valley but after reading the great reviews I was very excited. She was flexible with setting up a tasting appointment which was helpful because my spouse and I are active military and do not live in the area. Although her office is not impressive, the cake sure was! We first designed the cake, showing her photos and hearing her suggestions. We then tasted the cakes. They were delicious!! We could not believe we got to choose a flavor for each tier. It was just perfect. When wedding day came I could not wait to see the cake and it was BEAUTIFUL. It came out exactly how I had dreamed. We chose to do wedding cupcakes with a small cake on top for my husband and I to cut, both the cupcakes and cake were sooo yummy!!! We chose three flavors for the cupcakes, triple chocolate, carrot and white chocolate raspberry, all of which were simply amazing!! All of our guests LOVED the cupcakes! Debi also provided our grooms cake in the shape of a fire fighter helmet, it turned out so cute and of course super yummy (it was red velvet). Debi is very talented and produces wonderful and yummy cakes, you and your tummies wont be disappointed!!

Our wedding cake was included as part of our Turf Valley Wedding package. The cake was amazing, we met with the staff at Debi's Cake Studio in February, looked through the book and decided on an hybrid of a few cakes we saw in the book. when we arrived at Turf on our wedding day in August, the cake looked amazing (just like we discussed). I have found that most cakes that look good, don't taste as good as they look, however, this cake exceeded our expectations in terms of looks and taste...very moist and flavorful!

My cake came provided as part of the contract of my catering hall, so the value was part of my package. We had 2 cake tastings! The first one was during the food tasting for my reception. Debi's staff was there and they were amazing! They even gave us samples to take home with us. The flavor options were all so savory! They brought their books with them to show the different styles they could do.
When I had my actual appointment with Debi, I told her what I was looking for, she showed me some pictures that matched up with my vision, and then she told me that I could send her the design that we were using on our invitations to match up with the cake. Our florist already knew Debi and worked with her to put the flower arrangements on and around the cake. The appointment took less than a half hour, and because Debi works in conjunction with our reception hall - they informed her on the number of people. Debi called me a week before the wedding to confirm the details. We selected 3 flavors - one for each tier and she made sure that we would be able to eat all 3.
When I saw the cake - I was floored!!! It looked AMAZING!!!! Better than I ever imagined, and all of the flavors tasted absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Every guest at our wedding raved about the cake!!!!

I am not a cake person, what so ever. But once I went to Debi's Bakery for our tasting, I fell in love. Her cakes tasted amazing. I was worried about what the cake would look like, since she was using butter cream and not fondant. I really wanted to achieve a great looking cake, rather than a great testing cake, especially since I feel like no one really eats cake at weddings, bu I was so wrong. The butter cream was seamless and tasted delicious. We had so many compliments on the cake...and I even tried the cake after our honeymoon, and it was still delicious...even to me, the non-cake lover. Thank you Debi!

One of my favorite things about Debi is her willingness to work with her customers. She isnt so focused on down payments. First of all, let me say that if you want FANTASTIC DELICIOUS AMAZING cake, go with Debi's. For about a week after, the guests we talked to raved about how good the cake was. I don't even like chocolate cake and I thought Debi's was pretty good. She was also really great about meeting with me to figure out what we wanted, outside of our meeting with the venue (she worked through them). I really appreciated that. I did get a bit of added stress, though, when she called me a few days before the wedding asking about some details that didn't get written down at the meeting. It took us a few days of me calling her back to get in touch and sort it out, which we did. All in all, though, the cake was so good and everyone was so happy, that I would use Debi again. Hope the top tier is as good next year!

Debi's cake is THE BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER! It was gorgeous to look at, and MIND BLOWING to eat! So moist! So delicious! We saved the top tier, but if that doesn't turn out, I'm going back to Debi's to get another one for our anniversary! And probably my Birthday, and 4th of July, and any other reason I can think of to eat cake! It was so good, that the only thing left after my guests got down with it was the embellishments! And price! Definitely the best price around! And we tried a LOT of bakeries! And for tastings you get FULL SIZED slices to try! We are definitely recommending Debi's to all our friends!

YUM. The cake was so good at the tasting we were worried it couldn't possibly be that good again at the wedding, but it was! Moist, light, delicious! Everyone loved it - we even had multiple people say it was the best cake they've ever had at a wedding. For our design, we picked a picture we liked from one of her books and described the colors/details to fit our event and it came out beautiful. It matched the rest of the wedding perfectly and I just loved it.

Our wedding cake was stunning! It was even more gorgeous than the inspiration photograph that I showed her. What’s more the cake was delicious; our guest raved about it. Side Note: I got a layer of lemon as well as fresh strawberry. Debi was great to work with; her prices were reasonable and she was able to work within my budget. I would highly recommend her.

Our wedding cake was delicious!! The tasting was an excellent experience! The only trouble we had was that everything was so delicious that we had a difficult time choosing! The guests were very happy with the cake, which is great since people don’t always have high expectations for how wedding cake will taste! It was included in our package at Turf Valley so we did not spend any additional money on it.

We were thrilled with Debi's Cake Studio! When we initially met with them for a tasting, they showed a lot of creativity in planning the design of the cake. The didn't nickel and dime us like other bakeries who charge extra for a square cake, or extra for a fondant ribbon, etc. Everything was included with Debi except for gumpaste flowers, and she threw them in for free for us. She called us a few days before to confirm all the plans and everything turned out great! We loved the cake and our guests loved it too. We would absolutely recommend them!

Debi's Cake Studio was our caterer's prefered vendor for wedding cakes. It was also included in our package. We went to try the different flavors and design the look of it and it was all so simple with Debi!
One month before the wedding I calledto change my mind about the design and it was no problem at all! She was very understanding and made sure the changes had been made. When I saw my cake on our wedding day, I wanted to cry it was so beautiful! She had brought the cake stand as promised and it just look amazing. NOT TO MENTION IT WAS DELICIOUS!! We used Debi for our wedding cake and it was so easy and amazing. We went in the studio one day for a tasting and picked out the design and never had to do anything again. We had the white chocolate raspberry and it was so good and I don't even like cake that much. I would use her again and recommend her to friends and family.

Cake was good for my vow renewal ceremony BUT the whole color of the cake was wrong and it seems minor compared to the presentation of the cake. We had a grooms cake that was done in shape of football helmet WOW that was amazing !!!! How do they do that !!! Wedding cake colors wrong but cake was unremarkable and all gone didnt get any just the very top which was my favorite carrot cake !!!! To far to travel but cant say its not worth the distance and they deliver so i guess i would say i would use them again !!!!

All of our guests RAVED about the cake! It was such a delight, because some wedding cakes can taste like sheet cake. This was true gourmet.

Debi's Cake studio, although hard to find if you're driving there, are great! They made the exact cake I wanted from a picture, and it was delicious! We chose the strawberry and the chocolate truffle. I definitly recommend those flavors!

The cake was DELICIOUS!!!! I have never had wedding cake that tasted this good! The cake also looked as good as it tasted. We gave a picture of the style of cake we wanted and Debi made it. She was alittle hard to get in touch with but she is in high demand. I wish I had more cake (The reception venue threw our cake away) and I can't wait to eat the top tier next year!

My husband and I tasted at 5 different bakeries, and Debi was the clear winner! Her cakes are DELICIOUS! We really like filling, and she does really thick, generous filling layers, and all of the flavors were so good we had a hard time choosing. The cake itself is also good and moist, and the buttercream is delicious. She lets you mix and match any flavors that you want. We picked chocolate cake with one layer of mascarpone cream and one layer of chocolate mousse for the main cake. The backup cake was yellow cake with raspberry truffle filling--raspberry jam and chocolate ganache! to die for! We had lots of guests tell us how good the cake was, including while we were all at another wedding eating not-very-good cake.

Another important note is that Debi's cake was $150-$250 cheaper than the other estimates we got!

At first I didn't have a clear design in mind, but I eventually found a picture I liked and mailed it to Debi, and she executed it perfectly! It was so pretty and exactly what I wanted!

I docked her a point on responsiveness because there was a week in there when her voicemail was full and I couldn't leave a message. But I sent her a message on her website (http://www.debiscakestudio.com/), and she called me back pretty quickly. Overall, I was so happy with her, and I HIGHLY recommend her to everyone!

The cake was DELICIOUS! We hardly had any left to take home! Debi was very friendly and helpful. She even let us make our own combinations for our tiers. My only complaint is that what I envisioned was not exactly what I got. The cake was beautiful and we got a lot of compliments, but it was shorter and wider than I thought it would be. Also, I wanted tapered tiers, but these tiers were tapered and slanted. Not the end of the world for me, but if you are going to be picky...be very specific.

We got our wedding cake from Debi since we had our wedding at Turf Valley. The location of the studio is a little odd, but the cake was absolutely yummy. My husband and I went to do the cake tasting months before our wedding and the woman who helped us was very nice and helpful. I had already seen a picture of the cake I wanted in one of Debi's picture books at the bridal show at Turf Valley, and since my husband liked it as well that part went quick. We were able to pick out our flavors rather quickly as well and we had a different flavor for each of the three teirs. The cake tasted great, and we got lots of compliments from our guests about how great the cake was. I was very pleased with my experience with Debi's Cake Studio and I wouldn't hesitate to use Debi again for another event or recommed Debi to another bride.

My husband and I are big fan of wedding cake and after tasting the cake we were both excited to choose a cake and design and couldn't wait to eat it! It was absolutely amazing in taste, design, and presentation! The cake Debi made for our wedding was awesome! We have received so many compliments on the cake, from the guests to the caterer. The caterer commented that they never had a cake go so fast. They had to keep washing dishes because guests continued to come back for seconds until it was completely gone. A number of guests commented that it was the best cake they ever had.

Debi was very responsive to our request for a special filling. We requested chocolate cake with a peanut butter mousse filling (our favorite cake!) and it was delicious!

Debi's cake was AMAZING. Everyone raved about it, included my husband, who is not really a dessert guy, and he's not easily impressed, lol. He was not at the tasting, months earlier, so he was in for a surprise. Right after we fed each other during the cake cutting, he says, "WOW, this is REALLY GOOD." That was a first!!

We had the wedding cake all in chocolate truffle and a sheet cake (back-up) in Lemon. Both were absolutely delicious and LIGHT--not sickeningly rich, which I wanted to avoid from the start. The Lemon was such a great palette cleanser.

Debi won in the battle for a local baker that had the best taste for the right price. Her designs were great too, even though I gave her a simple design I created myself, which she followed to the T (it looked exactly the way I wanted it :) ).

Unfortunately, she was not as responsive as I had hoped she would be during the planning process, but I think she was moving her business to a new location at the time? She also does not do contracts and I had to ask for an invoice a few times, so that kind of worried me at first. I feel bad lowering her star count, but I have to be honest in the review. She definitely came through in the end!! I would absolutely recommend her to other brides--and anyone holding any type of party!! I may even order birthday cakes from her in the future!

Debi's Cake Studio was the cake provider for our package at the Sheraton Baltimore North. When we met with her to design our wedding cake, she was very helpful and patient and helped us pick the perfect design. She had many flavors to taste, which we really enjoyed and ended up picking two different filling flavors for the different tiers. She also ended up doing a "cookie cake" for our rehearsal dinner, with two bride and groom Maryland Terrapins, which turned out so awesome and everyone loved it. She was really laid back and willing to do anything. Our only concern was that she was a bit difficult to get in touch with and didn't get back to us a lot of the time, but that was probably because she was so busy making awesome cakes!

Debbi created the cake we wanted from a photo we gave her. It was gorgeous and delicious! It was a little bit hard to reach Debbi by phone to set up a time for the meeting, but we had fun meeting with her and picking out the kind of cake layers we wanted and that is one of our fun memories. My husband wanted a red velvet groom's cake and it was so special! The wedding cake and groom's cake costs were included in our catering fee, so I am not sure how much the cake actually cost. Worth the calories!

Yummy! I was a great cake but... I didnt like the area in which we did our taste at. The woman didnt make me feel comfortable. I felt like I had to make a choice right away. Other then that I had many of compliments and I enjoy it to.

We had our wedding at Turf Valley and Debi's Cake Studio provided the cake. Turf Valley paid for the cake, so I cannot comment on the cost. Debi was wonderful and our cake turned out beautiful. When we first met with her, I had a lot of different pictures and wasn't sure exactly what we wanted. After we told her our theme was 'Winter Wonderland', she started throwing out some ideas. She made us a cake with 3-D snowflakes all over to go with our theme. We got so many compliments on the design and flavor of the cake.

Not only was our cake absolutely beautiful, it was the best cake we've ever tasted. Other bakers we met with recommended adding real poinsettias to the top of the cake (one of the main flowers of our decor) but Debi created a stunning edible poinsettia design on the cake! Our guests were in awe of the beauty and not being a major cake person myself, I was hesitant about the taste. When we cut it and served one another, my husband and I were blown away by the INCREDIBLE taste! One of my husband's favorite desserts is tiramisu and we made that the bottom tier--which was amazing. The middle layer was white chocolate raspberry and the top was chocolate. Debi's prices are very reasonable and the delivery was seamless. We will look to Debi's Cakes for all our special occasions in the years to come--and likely a replicate mini-cake for our anniversary!

I gave Debi a picture of the cake I fell in love with in NY Magazine and she made it to the tee. It was gorgeous and it tasted even better then it looked! Cost was very reasonable. Debi was lovely to work with

Just perfect. People were asking me if I had Ace of Cakes or Sugarbakers (both really highly priced upscale Baltimore bakeries) because it was so beautiful and a great copy of our wedding invitations. The cake itself was so moist and delicious, people couldn't believe it looked AND tasted that good!! We got both our wedding and groom's cake from there and the grooms cake turned out so wonderfully!! I got to surprise my groom with a little extra treat and no charge!! They even accommodated my mother-in-law's lactose allergy by creating a special dessert for her at no charge. Debi rocks!

Absolutely delicious!!! They taste like dessert cakes, no fondant, just moist cake! Our wedding cake was BEAUTIFUL and I recommended to my best friend who is also using her. You cannot beat the price either!

Debi was awesome. She was one of the first vendors I visited at the beginning of my planning. Several months into the planning my vision for the cake changed, so we arranged to meet again. I had a very specific hand drawn original design for both the wedding cake and the grooms cake--She nailed it!! She followed everything that I wanted perfectly. The cake tasted great and it was much larger than I was expecting. We placed some in the freezer and took it out weeks later and it was still delicious! Debi deserves the reputation of some of these other cake studios that you always hear about--but in my opinion many of those other cakes are way too sweet. Debi's cakes are just right.

My cake looked and tasted incredible! I had gone to about 6 other bakeries and Debi's cake studio was one of the last bakeries I tried and did a tasting with. From the very first taste of several flavors, I knew that this was the perfect cake - not birthday cake sugary sweet and not too dense and desert-like -- a perfect median between the two -- moist and just perfect. Debi was so down to earth and friendly which also helpled my decision. I was willing to pay top dollar for my cake and went to some higher priced places for tastings but they rushed me in and out and were not personable at all. (One of these other places was SugarBakers in Ellicot City where the unfriendly young lady helping us only gave us about 2 minutes total to taste about 12 flavors of cake and basically rushed us out after giving us an estimate!) Debi was able to accomodate me on some what short notice and even let me change my cake design a week before my wedding without it being a problem. The cake was gorgeous and was so good, I didn't even want to save my top tier for my anniversary -- my husband had to convince me to only take a small piece of it and then put the rest in the freezer!

Perfect!!! Thank you Debi. When we met with Debi for the first time she had a small round cake in our favorite flavor waiting for us along with tasting slices of many other wonderful choices. In addition to our layered dream cake with whole raspberries, and blue berries and sliced strawberries in yummy cream between the vanilla layers, we ordered 4 sheet cakes of fun, amazing flavors like tiramisu, chocolate raspberry, etc. Best cake we ever tasted and our guests thought so too. Delivered on time and with care. Book Debi now!!!

Debi was great! Great tasting and looking cake for an exceptional price. We chose Debi after going to tastings at 3 other popular bakeries. All of them were going to cost an arm and a leg for a basic cake design. Debi was able to offer us all three... taste, design and price! I would use Debi again in a second. Oh, and our top cake tier was delicious when we thawed it out on our first year anniversary... that is great cake! It still looked great. Also, I changed my mind on the cake design a month before, sent Debi a picture from a magazine and my cake was an exact replica of the one in the picture. I couldn't have been happier!

Cake tasted great and looked beautiful. However, the ribbon they put around the cake was a hideous color.

Our cake by Debi was included in the cost of our reception at Turf Valley. Debi was very pleasant to work with and helped us design a beautifully stunning wedding cake. Although there were not as many flavors of cake and fillings to choose from as some other shops, we still had trouble picking between the several delicious varieties that were available. In the end, we decided on a layer of vanilla cake with raspberry chocolate ganache filling (amazing) and a layer of tiramasue cake (also amazing). I can hardely wait for our first anniversary so we can eat more of this fantastic cake! :)
