My wedding planner Christy Kelman recommended Drea from desert house production to me, and I can't tell you how happy I was with her! She was awesome!! I really never gave her a list of songs I wanted her to play. Many things I didn't. After walking around and saying hi to everyone, I don't think I got off the dance floor once (not even to eat). I had so much fun at my reception, and I attribute most of that to Dr. Drea.

Dave from Desert House Productions was our DJ for our wedding at Inspirador. He was amazing and so fun to work with. Music was important to me, but I was pretty hands-off in the music selection. We told Dave our goal was to have everyone (all ages) on the dance floor all night. He responded with an amazing playlist that was a great variety of genres, slow dancing, pop, etc. and really scheduled the evening perfectly. He was so professional and awesome to work with.

Initially there were some communication issues which can be credited to technological difficulties. Once I was able to make contact with DHP (they were part of our wedding package), the magic started to happen. Dave was apologetic about the communication snafus, and Drea worked with us on making the night what we wanted. Our DJ, Anthony, was so laid back and such a pleasure to work with. We had some oddball requests, and both he and his assistant rolled with them and accommodated us (and our open-bar guests...).

Overall, DHP deserves the positive reputation they have...

We hired Drea after hearing her DJ a friends wedding last year. Hire her!! You won't be disappointed. She learns what you like and don't like, responds to emails quickly. We got a lot of compliments on our music. I would hire her for another event!

I chose Desert House through my venue, Inspirador, and am so thankful I did! I was able to meet with Drea and Anthony and go through everything I had questions about, and it was easy to communicate with them via email and phone. Anthony was the dj who came on my wedding day and made everything so seamless and absolutely perfect. My husband and I worked with Drea from Desert House and we were so lucky to have her as our DJ on our wedding day. She put an amazing playlist together for our cocktail hour and her song choices during our reception were perfect! We had a great time dancing the night away and she kept the reception going with the music. Our reception flowed smoothly and never seemed to drag on or become dull. She kept all our guests on the dance floor! We also used her for lighting elements that made our reception really pop! Without the lighting our reception would not have been the same. Drea is the BEST DJ ever!!!! She knows how to read the crowd, which is a rare find! Drea takes requests seriously, including no cliche wedding music!!!! Our wedding was the best night of our lives and we owe so much of that to Desert House. I danced the whole night. My groom danced the whole night (which is no easy feat). My father-in-law danced with every lady in the room, and my Stepson brought the house down with his fabulous rendition of Gangnam Style...Drea made all of the aforementioned events possible. I can't wait for my 40th birthday so Drea can host my next dance party! We are so glad we went with Desert House, and highly recommend them to anyone hosting a wedding or event!

The dancing never stopped, and it was because of Dave from Desert House.

The aunties and uncles enjoyed the Bollywood remixes, and our friends loved the pop/hip hop reimaginings that kept us dancing until the venue literally turned the lights off on us. Our friends and family have raved about how good the music was, which is the real test of quality.

We (the bride and groom) wanted a wedding DJ who focused on the crowd and was versatile, and honestly we wanted a DJ who did not feel constrained to play stale wedding mainstays such as the Macarena or the Chicken Dance. Desert House had seamless transitions between a huge variety of songs, all of which had slight remixes to be more danceable.

Dave met with us a few times to get to know our music tastes and walk through the order of events, and each meeting was very professional, pleasant, and to-the-point. The music was clearly responsive to our preferences, with songs ranging from MoTown remixes to 90s hits to contemporary hip hop to Bollywood classics, with subtle transitions between songs that worked really well.

Desert House was also incredibly professional and independent with settings up and breaking down the audio equipment – we've been at weddings where the DJ needs different plugs or has lots of questions the day of the wedding, but Dave was totally prepared and was ready to go early and was clearly enjoying his craft the whole night.

We 100% recommend Desert House because of their professionalism, their attention to detail, and their familiarity with diverse musical genres – but, honestly, the main reason we recommend them is because the music was awesome and successfully kept people dancing all the way until the end...

Drea did the ceremony music and reception for our wedding and was absolutely fabulous! My husband and I talked over all the specifics with her beforehand, many of them prompted by her on things we didn't even think of. We identified certain specific songs we knew we wanted played and ones to avoid. We also talked over with her bands/artists that we liked as well as genres of music and she used that info to build the rest of the music for the night around. We knew we were in good hands with her.

On the night of our wedding the dance floor was packed the entire time and everyone had a blast. Many guest commented on how awesome she was. We even had one guest try to book her for his upcoming wedding right there on the spot. He was really disappointed to find out that she was booked.

Drea made key announcements and helped keep the evening organized but, like a true DJ, she did her real communication with her music. There was no cheesy banter, silly games, verbal exhortations to the crowd, or begging people to come dance. We might need to host another event just to have an excuse to work with her again.

As my husband and I like to tell people, "She isn't a wedding DJ. She's a DJ who happens to also do weddings."

Book her if you can, her schedule fills up fast!

Drea and her team are so awesome to work with! She made sure that our Wedding Ceremony and Reception music was exactly what we wanted. Dave is the best! I was receiving compliments all night about how incredible the music was. Everyone wanted to dance and sometimes at weddings that is not always the case. DHP is extremely professional and fun, they are an incredible vendor to work with. If you want an awesome DJ who will really understand you and your fiances' taste in music and create an incredible night then these are the people. I highly recommend them! Dave and Drea are awesome!!!

We went with Desert House Productions because my husband insisted if we were going to pay for music we would get a professional musician instead of someone who just didn't have "the skills to pay the bills" (his words). Anthony/DJ Hartbreaks was glad to meet with us to make sure he would fit with our themes and the type of music we liked, which I liked as we had very specific instructions as to what we wanted.

He was very involved in all the entertainment whether it was talking to people and getting them excited for what was coming next or knowing just when it was time to slow things down. I was very happy, and my husband probably spent more time talking to the DJ than he did some of his family. We joked with Anthony about doing our tenth wedding anniversary, but we won't (necessarily) hold him to that....

This is the first vendor we booked and you should too; with confidence. DHP is in a league of their own. They are professional DJs that do elite events and clearly have a comprehensive knowledge of all music genres (they read your ipod to make a custom play list). If you are looking for hip sophistication and your music tastes extend beyond the handful of overplayed wedding classics, you can count on DHP to blend the music you listen to with favorites that get everyone on the dance floor. Drea was our DJ and she assembled a team of very talented musicians including a classical guitarist for the ceremony (he transcribed a difficult piano piece for guitar), a trumpet player improvising during cocktail hour over a lounge playlist, and even brought in a surprise vocalist for some key songs during the ceremony. If your goal is to get everyone in the wedding on the dance floor and keep there all night, then you want to book DHP.

Our wedding reception was incredible all because of our DJ! Dave was a great guy to work with, had all of the best songs, and wasn't one of those cheesy DJ's you typically see these days. :) He was very professional and passionate about his work. I didn't have time to give them a "must-play" list, so I wasn't sure what type of songs would be played and how it would turn out, but Dave played ALL the best songs. Nearly all of our guests from 6 years old to 60 were up on the floor dancing. Nobody wanted the night to end, we couldn't believe it!! Thank you SO much Dave!

We were extremely interested in DHP because of the raving reviews and what we had personally seen on You Tube. In addition, we went to watch our DJ, Anthony, at a local club and all sounded great except that it was our bad for not going to a wedding or another type of venue where we could actually hear him MC. Please don't get me wrong, Anthony was extremely kind, professional and flexible; however, the one disappointment we have from our very special and near perfect day, was the MC portion. For starters, we could not even hear the music or our names being announced from outside the ballroom. Again, maybe this was our bad as DHP only has two speakers; they were positioned in the back of the ballroom by the head table/dance floor and the ballroom was more than 5,000 sq ft. Also, some of the songs we selected to for our bridal party, including the bride/groom, to enter to had a very long prelude; we thought he would have skipped over that and gone straight to the chorus but he didn't. Maybe that was our bad for not being more specific. Same thing happened with father/daughter dance and mother/son dance. In addition, I thought that someone, primarily the DJ was responsible for keeping us on our timeline and being proactive or at least checking with us to announce cutting of the cake and bouquet toss etc. but I was the one who kept having to remind him of these things. Our timeline was so messed up from what I had provided that our videographer had to leave and we did not even catch many special moments on video, very disappointing. In addition, he was so quiet that none of our guests even knew it was time for us to cut the cake or toss the bouquet. Looking back on this, it truly makes me sad as not one single person witnessed us cutting our cake. I think it takes a special type of person to MC an event and they need to possess a certain stage presence. Please do your research and actually go to listen to your DJ MC a wedding not at a club or a corporate event. Also, make sure to research the type of equipment needed to satisfy your venue size.

Desert House Productions did an amazing job!! Drea couldn't have been better - she was professional, responsive, fun, and worth every penny! This is not just a DJ. They transformed the room with their lighting and really kept the party going. From the first meeting, I knew Drea was going to do an amazing job. I described how I wanted the night to be and she exceeded my expectations. When you see pictures, it does not describe what she does to make the music part of the decor. She controls the lighting to keep the energy up and knows how to keep people on the dance floor. My guests loved the music during the cocktail hour as she started the night was a jazzy feel. I cannot describe what a great job Drea did to help make sure the event was a fun night for all ages.

When we began the process of looking for a DJ for our wedding, we searched through page after page of "wedding DJ's" and they all seemed the same to us. All very generic and not much evidence of what they could bring to the table. We wanted the music at our reception to reflect what our friends and us would want to dance to, but that our older guests wouldn't be scared off by either. We thought we were going to have to settle for one of the "generic" DJ's until we stumbled across Desert House Productions. DHP had great reviews, an informative website, and most importantly video of some of their parties. Finally we found what we were looking for!

We mostly worked with Dave, he was extremely professional from the first phone call to the last song. We met with him live and felt great about booking him the next day. They had plenty of options to tailor the music for our wedding from start to finish, we ended up using him to book a live guitarist for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and then had Dave DJ our reception. He made the whole process extremely easy on us.

We had a great final meeting with him a couple weeks before our wedding day to give him some ideas about what we wanted played at the wedding. He made this extremely easy on us too, we basically just gave him some suggestions and felt comfortable enough with his skills to let him do his thing from there. What a great decision that was! I'm pretty sure every single guest commented on how good the music was and it was surely reflected by the turnout on the dance floor. There was not a single second when the dance floor was not completely packed with people having the time of their lives. Parents, aunts and uncles were breaking it down next to the the 20-somethings.

Dave was also an excellent MC and was very organized in that respect, he helped talk us through the flow of events and made several suggestions from his experience that turned out to be great ideas.

I can't say enough good things about DHP, we had the best day of our lives and they were a huge part of it!

There is no competition-they are the absolute best DJs ever. My wedding was perfect! They are the coolest, nicest, most talented couple as well :) I had been to about 100 weddings before my own wedding and nothing compares to them! Save yourself some time and book right away! Let's just put it this way: we planned our wedding date around their availability-they are that good.

I will say that I felt that everything about my wedding was just perfect. I loved how everything turned out, and my husband and I could not have been more pleased. One of the things we received the most compliments on was our DJ - and I KNEW when I found Desert House Productions, they would be perfect for us.

Music is definitely an important part of our lives, and we really wanted a DJ that was going to be a reflection of our tastes. DHP is exactly that - not your typical "wedding" DJ - Drea was absolutely amazing - creating the music and atmosphere we were looking for, and none of those cheezy wedding-announcer announcements. DHP is incredibly professional and totally swanky, and some serious, for real DJs, lol! AND the lighting they created was absolutely amazing - we definitely got compliments for that. I would highly recommend going for their lightbars that flooded the walls with custom colors, and the remote control that synced the lights to the music. The atmosphere the lights and music created together was truly impressive and just gave the whole reception a seamless, cohesive look. Seriously people - budget for the lights!

I'll tell you - you can find DJs that are less then DHP - but they won't give you the amazing, customized, CLASSY service that DHP can give you. They are the perfect, "IT" DJs that you have to have to HAVE for your wedding. Do it, work them into your budget, they are beyond...

Words cant describe how awesome it was meeting with Drea before the wedding, she had so much confidence that our wedding was going to have unique tracks nobody had heard before and songs played that would get the party started! Dave and Drea Strickler, the owners, are the 2 absolute most capable people you could ever hope to have the opportunity to hire for your wedding. Dave is an accomplished DJ and Drea doubles as a DJ while rocking a classically trained piano background. They bring with them an amazing team of incredible live musicians, an incredibly cool lighting display, and lightning quick reflexes that allow them to seemingly be everywhere, making everything flow smoothly through the entire day and night. We had a phenomenal time at our wedding and people have commented non stop how fantastic the music was and what a good time they had. The price we paid was nowhere near enough for the value we received from them. We honestly were lucky to have had them at our wedding. We love them and cannot say enough good...

For our wedding, we allowed the venue to select the music providers for the reception as we figured, wedding music is wedding music. Don't get me wrong, I have been proven otherwise in the past, but we trusted the coordinators at the venue to know who would be best for us, and they absolutely did!

We were originally paired with a different DJ and about 4 months before our wedding, we received notification that DHP would be taking over as our wedding soundtrack musicians. Drea wasted no time in contacting us to get a feel for what style of music really represents us.

We immediately had your typical wedding songs and dances off the table and ended up sending Drea about 10 songs, per her request, to give her an idea of what we like. We also shared radio stations and muscial genres and decades as suggestions as well. Just when you think you couldn't have been more vague and Drea couldn't possibly nail down your preferences so that everyone would say "Oh my God, I HAVE to dance to this!" - she did!!! Every single song she played brought excitement and people to the floor. I personally thought, "HOW did she know I love this song? I didn't send this one to her?!?!"

She 100% stayed true to our "No way can you play this artist" policy, politely letting our guests know that it was our decision and that we had specifically denied that artist to be played.

At no point in time did we feel rushed and Drea was awesome at letting us know what was coming up as far as our timeline and schedule while still letting us get there at an enjoyable pace. The last thing you want at your wedding is to feel ushered from one thing to the next and Drea was amazing at keeping us "in the know" and ready to keep the party in full swing!

In summary, if you want an amazing musical backdrop for your event, hire DHP. If you want to chance the success of your music, don't, because Drea will NOT let you down!

If you are looking for a reliable, professional, and non-traditional DJ, Desert House is the way to go! Dave was the DJ for our wedding and he was very attentive, outgoing, and creative. He met with my husband and I several times to plan for the big day. He was very flexible and listened to our suggestions/requests. We did much research for wedding DJs and there wasn’t anyone that compared to his talent, equipment, and modern style. The BEST DJ duo you could think of using. Dave & Drea DJ'd our friends wedding and together they were awesome. Drea was booked at another wedding the same day as ours so Dave DJ'd for us. Both are extremely talented, and make the event extremely personal and memorable.

This couple is very easy going, very willing to make your day special in whatever way you want. Very easy to communicate with and for myself, they completely matched with the type of music that I enjoy so they brought a great vibe to the whole reception. I would absolutely recommend them to everyone. Though they are not the cheapest around, it is well worth the investment as they set the whole mood for the evening.

Desert House made our wedding a party. They were fantastic. They listened to what we wanted, and went above and beyond. They set up things that they were not responsible for, and made our reception into the best party our friends have ever been to. They were amazing. Dave and Drea were great to work with for my wedding. I initially had planned on using an iPod and creating all my own playlists for the wedding, but as the event got bigger, I found that this might not be the best option. As a bit of a music snob, it was very important to me to find a DJ that was familiar with my specific taste in music and would know how to bring in the songs that I wanted and mix them in with some party favorites. I work in the wedding industry and have seen MANY DJ's do weddings, sadly, there are so many "cheesy" DJ's out there... beware! This is why I knew I definitely wanted Dave and Drea with Desert House Productions to DJ my wedding.

Dave and Drea did the music for my ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and they did an awesome job! Drea played piano for my ceremony and they both DJ'd the cocktail hour and reception. Their choice of music was perfect and everyone danced until the very last song! The pictures my photographer took of the loaded dance floor with hands in the air speak volumes for their DJ'ing capabilities.

This review is long overdue, as my wedding was December 2008. However, I wanted to say that choosing Dave and Drea for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made! We are a younger couple and were finding that most of the other DJs we spoke with were really out of touch or just plain tacky or annoying. When we met with Dave and discussed our musical taste, he had not only heard of everyone we liked, but already had their music on hand. From indie to downtempo to classic rock, he had it covered! Our wedding was absolutely perfect with the help of Dave and Drea...we felt that they so took the time to take an interest in and get to know our musical taste that during times I started to get worried that we didn't get specific enough (such as during the ceremony) they chose the perfect songs that we wouldn't have thought of ourselves but we loved them, and they blended perfectly with the rest of our chosen songs.
They were professional and classy, yet not stuffy. They provided all the equipment needed (including lights during the reception) and it was all very high quality. Everyone of all ages raved about the music, and everyone was constantly dancing. They even took the time to help us plan a timeline of the entire wedding a few weeks beforehand to make it flow consistently, and they obviously know what they are doing because the day went without a hitch!
