Mona was the coordinator for my event at the JSMB and she was so easy to work with. I don't know how many times I changed what I wanted but she was always so organized and kept up on every thing I said to her. She was so helpful when we met with her in her office to show me samples of tablecloth colors and suggest different table arrangements for our guest count. I would highly recommend working with Mona.

Our wedding reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building was nothing short of spectacular. The history and elegance of the Smith Building added so much to our celebration. We were treated very well by the coordinators as well as the florists were attentive, they listened, and had great ideas. The fact that everything was on-site took the worry out of the whole experience. Colleen and her crew in the floral department were patient, understood how to deliver the most for our budget, and had some very creative ideas. Everything turned out perfectly and our evening was a huge success. Several of our guests commented on how beautiful the floral arrangements were, and the value was outstanding. We would recommend the Smith Building to anyone—they are total professionals.

We had our reception in the Empire Room. Absolutely stunning. We received so many compliments afterwards. Several of my guests and the bride were gluten free. They happily accommodated and made sure their needs were met. We used Granite for our cake so the JSMB happily cut our cake at no extra charge. We could not have been more pleased with how it turned out. And the price was very reasonable.

The JSMB is a pleasure to work with.
Cyd was my event coordinator and was on top of everything. She is very professional, to the point, and a total sweetheart.
The room was gorgeous (we were in the Sharon/Manchester Room) and we have received many, many compliments on how lovely the room was. The staff are amazing, and so helpful. The reception was a breeze, and we had nothing to worry about. Except for our cake not being what we ordered (but that wasn't the JSMB's fault...).

The building was lovely, the staff was helpful, and the price was right.

When you book with them, they provide you with a wedding planner that goes over every detail with you. After every meeting we received an email with the summary of everything we had discussed. Everything was so well taken care of. On your wedding day, you really want to go with a professional. They are professionals!
The room rental is so reasonable! Most places are charging over $2000! All the rooms are gorgeous. We picked the Empire Room and I can't think of a more elegant location in all of Utah. It was absolutely stunning. And we received help and input every step of the way, from the linens, to the setup, to the schedule. Bonus about this place, is that they provide linens, food, flowers, cake cutting, servers. It is so well-run. They simply know what they're doing.

I loved my wedding luncheon. The staff was friendly and were very professional. Everyone loved the food and raved about it the rest of the day. The people we worked with were amazing and helped us so much and made my day perfect.

I couldn't be any happier with the Joseph Smith Memorial Building...Everything looked perfect! We had our reception in the Empire Room and it was amazing....I was sooo happy they allowed us to have lite candles on all of our tables, it created something really special and intimate...They we're so helpful and full of suggestions...In my opinion this is one of the nicest places to have a wedding dinner or reception....Just a little tip though, the food is AMAZING! Seriously :)
Also...go with the dance floor it's definitely worth it! :) Happy Planning!

The Devereaux Mansion is a Temple Square Hospitality venue. It's generally not very well known and not used very often. They were pretty disorganized about the whole thing because they don't do it very often and it's a fairly new venue for them. Our coordinator was pretty scatter brained and missed out on some of the details we had asked for for the reception, which was extremely disappointing (such as they didn't set up the tables on the patio), although I'm sure no one noticed but my mother and me. There were some issues with parking, as the first lot was unexpectedly unavailable because of the Jazz play-off game, and so we had to switch our parking to the Triad Center terrace parking (parking is included in the price.) They were supposed to put out a sign explaining this, but failed to do so, and our guests had a horrendous time trying to figure out where they were supposed to park. The mansion itself is absolutely beautiful, and they just repainted it and will soon be recarpeting. I absolutely loved the mansion and it was perfect for what I wanted for my wedding. Another great thing about it is that you can bring in any decorations you want, and also you can bring in your own food... they don't require that you use the Joseph Smith Memorial Building catering, although it is an option. You can't use another caterer if they're going to stay and serve the food. Overall the reception was beautiful and we loved it.

We had our wedding luncheoun at the Joseph Smith Memorial building, and it was perfect! They totally and completely took care of everything - I didn't have to even think about it. They gave us lots of options for decor and food, and we just chose what we liked and they took care of the rest. It was beautiful, the food was fabulous, and it was such a great way to spend the first couple of hours as a married couple. I loved the room we were in, too, it had a beautiful view of the temple...

I had my luncheon in the Wasatch Room and my reception in the Empire Room. Both were BEAUTIFUL! They helped me plan my wedding every step of the way. We just had to make the decisions and they had it there, on time and looking great! The food was great and the service was top notch. I am so glad I used them, it relieved a lot of the stress of my wedding day!

We had our wedding dinner the night before and loved everything the Lion House had to offer! It was great food, great service, great lighting, and just an all around amazing night.
GUEST

The food was great and the atmosphere was beautiful. They have a number of choices for rooms and menus and it was a great place for us to have the luncheon because all the details were taken care of. Very convenient, very classy.
GUEST

Just what we'd expected. They have a great staff there that's willing to help, and it made our wedding night so amazing!

Overall, I think the JSMB was great. My only complaints were that I felt very rushed to get the ceremony rolling. I understand that they were on a time deadline, but it would have been nice not to deal with that. As for everything else, they were great with setting up, and getting everything ready.

One stop Mormon shop does it all!

I knew exactly what I wanted from my venue and I am so glad that I kept asking to see more and more of their rooms because whiel I had to push for what I was looking for I found it! They have some AMAZING rooms for receptions and dinners and ring ceremonies. I used the Empire room for my ring ceremony and reception. It was incredible. With such an elaborate room I didn't ahve to spend tons of money on flowers or other decorative parts, I didn't need to. The room itself was enough. Also I used teh Wasatch room for my dinner and the view was absolutly incredible! Such an amazing building and it was really nice to have such a beautiful lobby that peeople could go into and hang out if they needed a break from the party. Beautiful building. They also have their own wedding coordinators that were helpful.

I was very pleased with what Lion House had to offer. They helped make my day a most memorable one, no regrets.

They were great to work with and the room looked beautiful. The servers were very professional as well and the food excellent. There was only one time when I needed someone to help and they weren't available. The only things that I felt were overpriced were the dance floor and screen for our wedding video. Other than that it was a fantastic place to have a wedding reception and I was very, very pleased with their services.
GUEST

The food was wonderful and I love that they took care of everything so I didn't have to worry at all on my special day!

We had our luncheon at the Lion House. It was amazing and exactly what I wanted. They decorate the tables and provide wonderful food. It was a great deal for what we got and it is so close to the temple that you can walk there.

I used the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for my reception venue, and therefore I was required to use them as my caterer. That was kind of annoying, but they did a good job catering. I also had them do my flowers which were pretty pricey but very beautiful. It is hard to find a good place for a winter reception in Salt Lake and this was the only place big enough for our large wedding. It turned out to be beautiful and overall I thought it was great. The wedding planner we worked with was so nice and helpful and professional.

Beautiful venue, did not need any additional decoration. Wedding planner was very helpful. Food was delicious and timely.

I loved working with this place. They were so friendly and accommodating. I came to them with only two months notice and they really went out of their way to work with me. They made great suggestions about wedding cakes, which ones were pricey and which ones tasted the best. I loved my reception. They also catered the food and we were within 3 people of our anticipated headcount. The service is excellent, the food was excellent, it was all very lovely and I thought they did a great job.
GUEST

We loved the venue. It was awesome to have a reception at such a historic site for Salt Lake, and it had a very dignified finery to it, with beautiful gardens in back and fine furnishings inside. The only place the gave us trouble was in trying to be too helpful: we wanted a full dancefloor and they insisted it would be a waste of money since nobody ever really uses it or dances. We insisted and they complied, and we used every inch of that thing.

This is where we had our wedding breakfast. It was great service and yummy food. We were very happy.
