Reviews for Diamond Bakery
Diamond Bakery's normal cakes are all very tasty and delicious however their wedding cake leaves much to be desired.
My family and myself have been a patron to Diamond Bakery for many years so it was natural for myself and my future husband to schedule a cake tasting with them for our wedding cake.
The girls working at the bakery do speak very good English however their attitudes are a bit stand offish and they gave off the energy of "I am only helping you because I have to and I am utterly dis-interested in what you need"
Future husband and I walk and inform the young lady working behind the counter that we are there for a cake tasting. Girl asks our name and phone number and goes to the refridgerator and grabs a box. In side held the two cakes that we had called ahead to try. One was the white cake with custard filling with fondant frosting, the other a white cake with fresh mangos and whipped cream frosting.
The white cake with custard filling was okay but the fondant was overly sweet and crunchy (granted I am not a fan of fondant) The fresh mangos in the other cake were sour and were not ripe or fresh and the whipped cream was a bit too sweet.
We tried to eat as much of the cake as possible but had to hand back what we couldn't finish. When we asked about pricing the whipped cream cakes start at about $275 where as the fondant cakes start at $500.
No cake design books were offered to us nor was there anyone readily available to answer questions.
Overall a not so good experience.
Awful! If I could pick zero stars, I would. Rude and annoying girls who don't care about your business. I went for a tasting, and there were these one inch squares of stale cake. You couldn't taste anything! I went to the one in Monterey Park, and there were no chairs to sit. They wouldn't even give a knife to cut these pieces. The cake was disgusting, and the girls who work there are worse. Don't bother going here for anything. I'm so annoyed by this piece.
I've tried their different cakes before and love them, light yet so yummy. I want all my guest share their tasty cake on my wedding day.
Yummy + Good Value + Pretty
At the wedding the cake was super yummy. We had a yellow layer with fresh strawberries, chocolate with chocolate mousse layers, and a mocha with mocha mousse layer. We went with the buttercream frosting, not the fondant (not yummy) or whipped cream (melts if displayed for too long). Look at my picks to see what it looked like. The bakery only had to frost the cake in a pale yellow, my florist decorated the cake.
Diamond Bakery is a Chinese chain that is fairly well known. For our tasting, I was pleasantly surprised by how professional the girls in Monterey Park were. They booked an appointment on a busy Saturday only 2 days in advance and went through my options extensively. They have a good selection. There are over 10 cake layer flavors, over 15 fillings, and the standard fondant, buttercream, whipped cream frostings. They're really inexpensive. I also ordered supplementary petit fours for the dessert table and favors, they're only $0.50-$0.70 each. And the cakes taste really good, it's a lighter cake than the traditionally Western style.
Sweet servic but not too sweet taste.
