Reviews for Dick and Jane Letterpress
I had read about this new business in the Twin Cities in the Pioneer Press, so I went and checked them out. We had a guest list of about 100, and from that we thought that about 60 or seventy might be able to make the wedding event in Red Wing. I knew that in buying invitations, especially for only a hundred would be about $200 or so dollars, but I wanted something nice. I always send out nice Christmas cards, birthday cards, Thanksgiving day cards, and I don’t mind spending money on cards because they represent something. We came up with a really unique template, they were fun to work with, and I had the cards in less than two weeks. I took care of this about four months before the wedding date, and sent out all the cards the next day.
We chose Dick and Jane Letterpress because we really like the look of letterpress. I think it’s really classy, and it’s not something that can easily be reproduced. We looked into making the invitations, and getting the stamps and paper and all the supplied, and we quickly calculated that the costs of getting the supplies to make 100 cards would easily be the same as ordering 100 cards. We had a wedding budget of about $5000, which is a lot more than we thought we would have, and it fit right in our budget. Also, we were really able to express ourselves creatively with the two owners, who listened to us, offered their input, and made some really beautiful cards. I also want to say that this was the chance to support a local business, so I am aware that you can order cards online for cheap, but we made sure that the money was going into our community.
My mother and I were the ones shopping for wedding invitations, and checked out a few stores in the St-Paul area. We knew right away that invitations would not be cheap, but that they could look really cheap, even when you spent a lot of money on them. I was really drawn to the vintage look of Dick and Janes ‘s cards and invitations. I also really liked working with Brian and Natalie. They loved where we were having the ceremony, and made some cute suggestions about what the invitations could look like. Under their suggestions, we also made small maps, because even though the city is easy to move through when you live here, knowing where to find parking and which bridge to take is a bit confusing. The invitation cards were perfect. My favorite part would be the save the date cards, which was a picture of a calendar. It was something unique and original that I just hadn’t seen before, and really loved. They really have so much to choose from, so much originality, that I think every bride should make them their first stop.
