Reviews for Dimitra Designs Bridal Emporium

After trying on dresses at a few other bridal salons, I found my dress at Dimitra Designs. They have a great selection at various price points. My bustle ended up completely breaking at the reception. The alterations team was great, but I wish the bustle had been a little more sturdy.

I used Dimitra for both my wedding dress and my attendant's dresses. After having received rude service at another bridal store before coming here, I was very pleased that my mother and I were greeted with smiles. One of the workers helped with picking out the dresses, and she stayed with us until I was done trying on all the dresses. I fell in love with the very first dress I tried on, but the worker insisted having fun and trying on other dresses, which I did enjoy doing. After it all, I selected the first dress I had tried on. The dress (a one-of-a-kind valued at almost $1000) was on sale for $500. The dress fit great, only needed a small alteration around the shoulders. They have several dresses valued at over $2000+, but for those on a budget (like me) they still offer dresses beautiful enough to make the groom's jaw drop.

Huge, expansive, clean, beautiful store! Every single person I met in there was super friendly and accommodating. Excellent alterations. Can find gowns for a large variety of prices. Stunning gowns.

I had a wonderful wedding dress experience at Dimitra Designs!I found my perfect dress and it was within my budget. I probably had a lower price range for my dress budget than most brides who go there. But the lady who helped me did a great job finding dresses my style & price.Dimitra designs made wedding dress shopping very easy & exciting for me!

I absolutely loved my gown that I got from Dimitra. One of the consultants (Carol) actually listened to everything I said that I wanted in a wedding gown and brought out the exact one I ended up purchasing. The ladies in the alteration department were also very responsive and did a wonderful job adding the corset back that I wanted. I also needed to get it cleaned and steamed after my bridal portraits ( two months before the wedding) and they were able to get that done for me at a great price. They also kept my gown at the shop until the day before the wedding because I did not have a place to keep it where it would stay safe and not be seen by the groom.

I loved the dress that I bought. I ended up special ordering my dress as the top was like one dress I tried on and the bottom like a different dress I tried on. It was risky since it was mine as soon as I ordered it even if I didn't like it once it came in. The only complaint I have is that during the wedding the strap they had altered at the shoulder starting popping the stitches. And the dress should have been about an inch or so shorter as I almost tripped a few times during the night as it kept catching under my feet as I walked. Lastly, I would highly recommend to any future bride to use the sticky tape (forget the brand name) that is used to hold clothes to your skin. Someone gave me a strip half way through and it kept the shoulder strap in place as it had been slipping off several times throughout the evening. Wish that had been something Dimitra would have recommended.

My consultant was friendly and informed. With her help, we selected a beautiful wedding gown that was reasonably priced and in the budget. The alterations department, however, is a different story. They did not take the dress up enough and the bustle was not added properly. My dress dragged the ground the entire night, and I was tripping over it. In addition, the alterations were overpriced and when I brought the dress in to be pressed they told me they didn't have the proper equipment to do it. That would have been nice to know 6 months before .. not a week before the wedding. The dress was not pressed properly, and not having the right equipment was a lie. My aunt was able to press the dress with a hotel iron. Sure, it took her 4 hours to get it done, but it was done properly. They just didn't want to take the time to do it correctly. Oh, but the dress was beautiful...

I ordered a dress that I liked in August 2011 from Dimitra Designs in Greenville, SC. NEVER GO THERE!!! I wish I had never set foot in their door! The dress did not zip all the way, and they said it only needed to be let out about an inch. They also told me there was only enough room to let it out an inch and that's all. I was already worried and should've seen the red flags! The consultant talked me out of buying a size 8 dress because 1) it would take 6 months for it to come in then it would need to be altered, and 2) it may not fit the same way that I wanted it too. So I bought the dress, with the PROMISE that they would fix it and it would fit me like I wanted it to. I got it altered and NO, it did not fit! It was so tight and digging into my waist that I could not breathe. The MANAGER told me to take it home and wear it and the fabric just needed to be stretched out. I was so worried but did what she said anyway. I have put it on everyday since then. It will not budge and I hate the dress. It does not fit like I wanted and like they promised. I even lost 7 pounds and it does no good.I went back up there to return the dress. The manager told me she didn't see the problem, that when I left last time I said it was perfect. NO, I NEVER SAID THAT! I TOLD THEM IT WAS STILL TOO TIGHT! She told me I probably gained weight and that my fat was in the way of the dress. SHE CALLED ME FAT!!! I'm sorry, I don't have an ounce of fat on me. The front was baggy, and the boning was sticking out of the top. It didn't do that before they altered it. She lied to my father that my measurements the first time and this time were different and that I had gained weight and that's why it didn't fit. I WAS NEVER MEASURED THE FIRST TIME OR WHEN I WENT BACK!!! LIARS!!! She was only going to give me half back in store credit for the dress. I refused to accept that. She walked off and did not resolve the situation, letting me walk out the door.I made two complaints to the Better Business Bureau and have contacted two news channels. I don't know what else to do. But I refuse to be treated so awful by them, especially a manager and not get what I deserve. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!!!!

I began my search for a wedding dress at Dimitra and tried on many beautiful gowns. I came in on a fairly slow Saturday afternoon and the consultant I was working with had another girl to work with at the same time - not ideal. She never asked me what I was looking for - just showed me a few racks to browse through and let me pick what I wanted to try on. If I had known what I wanted, that might have been a good thing, but I had no clue and would have loved some direction. They also do not allow photos, which makes it difficult to see what you look like in photos and judge between several different dresses. I found a dress I loved but did not end up buying from Dimitra - they were selling it for $400 less at another shop very close to my parents house, so it was still convenient to pick up and go for fittings. Dimitra was not helpful to me, did not have very many dresses in my price range, but they did have a decent selection of dresses to try on.

Everything went very well for the dress purchase. I found a beautiful dress for the price. The sales woman was very nice. After I purchased the dress I went for my fittings. The people doing the fittings were wonderful as well. It was a little costly for what I got, but in general I was happy. Then I went to pick up the dress on Friday after it had been steamed. When I arrived the woman in the back wondered around for about 10 minutes before she told me it was going to be another 45 minutes. Not a problem, thank god I didn't have to be anywhere. When I came back in 45 minutes I tried the dress on to show my mom how to put up the back and someone steaming it had cut out a bustle loop. Glad I tried it on again before I left or else I would've been holding my dress all night.
GUEST

The dress was gorgeous. The lovely lady that helped me pick it out was so cordial and kind. I was NOT happy with my experience with the fittings. I had to go several times. I was left waiting. Then they did not complete the job. I kept telling them it is too long, I am going to trip over it. The bustle is dragging. They insisted that is normal. They also charged me extra claiming that the original quoted price was an error. I even gave my dressmaker a tip, which I understand is not customary. Yet the day before my wedding, my mom had to fix the poorly done job. I got the distinct impression that once they have made money from your buying the dress, they didn't care any more about providing good service.
GUEST

I was so completely happy with my dress! The staff at Dimitri's is amazing and my dress was perfect!
GUEST

Dimitra's staff was incredibily helpful and made the experience very personal! The dress I chose was actually picked out by a staff member and I fell in kove with it! Amazing service!
GUEST

I had a wonderful experience here. My dress was in on time. Everyone was amazed at how beautiful it was.
GUEST

Beautiful dresses. Would not have wanted anything else. They tend to be a little pricy though. The people who work here are not very friendly. Espically the owner. They are not willing to work with you or bridesmaids about payment plans. SO if you have college age bridesmaids, you may want to go somewhere else! they want their money for sure!

I bought all my prom and pageant dresses from Dimitra Designs and was always very pleased. I purchased my wedding gown, veil, tiara, and bridesmaids dresses from Dimitra Designs and was less than pleased. My wedding gown, veil, and tiara came in with no problems. I took the dress back a month before the weddign for alterations. They had to take the dress in 2 sizes. When I went back a week later the dress would not zip. It was skin tight and would only zip half way. After they measured the dress, they realized they took it up more than 2 sizes. After having a melt down in the middle of the store they said they could fix it. I went back a week later and it zipped, but the bust was too big and kept sliding down. Instead of having them fix it I decided to take it somewhere else. As we were about to leave they told us we had to pay for them having to let the dress out. We had to pay them to fix their mistake. When it was all said and done we payed them the same amout for alterations as we did for the dress. All of my bridesmaids (8 total) ordered their dresses from Dimitra Designs. Since we orded so many they gave each girl a great discount. When the dresses came in they were absolutely gorgeous! I was very pleased with them. When the girls started trying on their dresses we noticed that the dresses were WAY too big! They were falling off of them. We looked at the order forms and the lady who measured them ordered the dresses too big. My maid of honor went straight to alterations and had it altered. She had the bust taken in and some length taken off and they charged her $160...the same amount she payed for the dress! The other girls went to another alteration shop and they were charged $80.I recommend Dimitra Designs for ordering wedding gowns and bridal party dresses, but I do not recommend having alterations done there. They overcharge and they are likely to ruin your dresses.

I purchased my dress and veil from Dimitra. The attendant I had was great, she provided great service...really helped me find the perfect dress. I had some issues when the dress arrived, with it not looking exactly like the one i'd tried on, and when i talked to the manager i found them to be Very strict with their No return policy even though the dress was not the same. Things ended up turning out...but they were not customer friendly.Isabel Caballer

I'm shocked by some of the poor feedback Dimitra's received in previous ratings. I was in a horrible situation due to another dress shop in town closing down 2 months before my wedding and Dimitra literally saved the day. I found a dress I loved for a very reasonable price less than 2 months before my wedding. Unfortunately, there was no time to order one in my size, so I bought the floor model. The floor model was a size 10. I am a size 0. The alterations ladies are pure genius! The dress ended up looking like it was my size from the very beginning and I received so many compliments on it. All in all it was truly a great experience and I would recommend it to any future brides. They have a wonderfully unique selection for any price range and nice people helping you out.
GUEST

I was very pleased with my Dimitra's experience purchasing my bridal gown. They had the exact gown I wanted in stock, in the right color and size, and I was the first to try it on! Better yet, it was on Black Friday so they had 20% off all gowns. I bought it and a veil the saleswoman recommended that day. They did a minor alteration to the length in the front and bustle in a timely fashion (less than a week). The bustle was sewn correctly, but unfortunately kept falling down the day of the wedding, but I don't think it was their fault. They also steamed my dress the week of the wedding and it looked great. My only complaint about them would be that I was sometimes left waiting for 5-10 minutes for someone to come help me when I first arrived. Overall good experience and I would recommend it!!

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL! Do not go here! Buying my dress was a nice experience so I decided to go back for the alterations. BAD IDEA! My dress was chiffon, and it needed a hem and I wanted a bustle. For just that they charged me $225. Two days before my wedding, my bridesmaids came into town and of course, I had already picked up the dress and I wanted to show them the dress...so I took it out of the bag. There was BLOOD on my dress! Albeit a pinprick size, but still! So we took it back to Dimitra to get the blood out. They took care of that pretty quick and apologized. Then I asked if someone could show one of my bridesmaids how to get the bustle up. They had done the bustle wrong! It was sewn to the A-line underskirt under the chiffon. It was ridiculous. All I could think was what if we hadn't found that spot and taken it back..we wouldn't of found out that the bustle was wrong until the day of! Then the ladies all spoke in Spanish in front of us so we wouldn't know what they were saying. Little to their surprise, one of my bridesmaids is of Spanish decent though you wouldn't know it to look at here. I asked them what was the problem, and the lady at Dimitra told me that "she would tell me later." Excuse me? This is my wedding dress we;re talking about and I have a right to know what you screwed up on.I then asked them how much it would be to fix the top of the dress because I had lost a little wait in the bust and it was loose. They pinned it back and said it would be $85 to do it. I told her no and to take out the pins. My bridesmaids and I just used safety pins on the day of and no one could tell.Do not go here! You may have a nice purchasing experience but their customer service and alterations dept are HORRIBLE! There are slow, speak in Spanish so you have no idea what they are doing and are completely and totally clueless. Please stay away!

Issues with tuxes being ordered in the correct size. One tux did not fit at all. We had to make other arrangements at the last minute.
GUEST

Dimitra's offered the designer I really liked (Enzoani) but that is about all the positive I can say about them. Dimitra was very pushy and made me feel rushed about making a decision on the spot. When I came back to look at bridesmaid dresses after I had already purchased my gown there, the staff did not even acknowledge my presence in the store (even though it was a slow day and I saw plenty of associates around the store goofing off with each other). The staff and service there are the reason I would not recommend this place. They do have a pretty good selection of dresses, but that's about it.
GUEST

Absolutely terrible! I will never work with this shop again. They lost my bridesmaid order 3 times and I had to start all over again, tried to say some girls had not paid when they had, Dimitra is rude just in herself and needs to learn how to properly run a business. The only reason people still go to this shop is because Greenville does not have many bridal stores.
GUEST

I would recomend this place to anyone! My consultant was Cory and he picked the PERFECT dress FOR ME! Not only do they have TONS OF BEAUTIFUL WEDDING GOWNS but I was able to get my bridesmaids, tuxedo, and even wedding invitations all at the same place. The alterations lady was so nice and did such a wonderful job! I even let Alba do my hair and makeup for my wedding day and I looked BEAUTIFUL. I give this place an A plus!
GUEST

Dimitra's is the worst type of Bridal shop. All tags (even the inner lining of the dress) is removed so you have no idea what designer (or knockoff) you are getting. The sales staff is rude, unprofessional, and only out to make a high pressure sale. Once you purchase your dress you can be assured it will NOT arrive on time but the shop will offer to rush it for a kings ransom! Alterations are done by the cheapest most inexperienced people they could find but the price of your alterations will be the most expensive part of your dress budget. Dimitra's routinely orders the dress a size to larger than you asked for to ensure their are plenty of expensive alterations to charge you for. Between the over inflated prices of the knockoff gowns & alterations & the lack of any service - don't even step foot in this store

They were SO helpful! They even gave me dress ideas of ones to try on. I told them what i wanted and they were more than helpful to find it for me. I ended up buying my dress from them and my tiara and veil! they were great! they also gave me packets and such or my bridesmaids. I am definitely going back there for my bridesmaids!

Beautiful dresses to choose from and I stayed in my (LOW) budget! Awesome!
GUEST

The store definitely has a lot of dresses, but mostly specializes in pageants and proms. Only one woman on staff was polite and prompt.
GUEST

This is one of the worst places to go shopping if you are a bride. The staff is very rude-even the owner! This place is not professional. The only headache of our wedding was the dress...and it was because I bought it from Dimitras. I wish that I would have gone anywhere but here. I wanted to get my dress and my bridesmaids dresses from the same place. After my experience with them, I went to another store and bought 10 more dresses (bridesmaids and flower girls) The other store even gave me the discount as if I bought my dress from them. They also did my alterations. After I saw girls trying to get their dresses altered and not being pleased, and reading online reviews, as soon as my dress came in, I immediately took it to the other store. If you want service and polite staff, go anywhere but here. The sales associates have very little knowledge and are very lazy.

I have been to Dimitra's before they moved to their new location and said I would never go again. Everyone there was rude and not too interested in helping. When it was time for me to shop for my wedding dress I did not want to go there but after looking all day and not seeing what I wanted we finally went. The store is super organized - better than any other store in Greenville (we went to the ALL). I will suggest when you go to ask for Jessica. She was amazing and made everything worth while. I told her the style I was interested in and about our price range and she pulled about 10 - 12 dresses for me. She is the I talked to another lady at a different bridal salon and when they asked who helped me their response was she's what make the store. So happy with my wedding gown and all the help we got from Jessica. Everything arrived in a timely manager and it was prefect!

I worked with Amber. I described to her some of the features that I was looking for and she pulled numerous GREAT options. The selection was tremendous. They had something for everyone. They also had great bridesmaids dresses and MOB dresses.
GUEST

Dimitra Designs has a great selection of dresses, but that's about it. I didn't have a great experience with them when I had to go there for a bridesmaids dress when I was in friends wedding. I was a little hesitant to send my bridesmaids there, but I did. I should have looked for the dress somewhere else. They encouraged the girls to order their dress too big then they had to pay a fortune to get the dress altered.
GUEST

I found my dress at this shop and knew the price was high, but they pressured me to order it to get a ship date within a 3 weeks of my wedding. Two days later I found the dress online for $250 cheaper and I was frustrated for letting them pressure me. I felt that I had paid too much for it.The dress came in plenty of time, but the lace had a tear and beads were hanging by a tiny thread. The manager was responsive to my being upset -- I ordered the dress specifically fitted for me! -- and had the alterations department fix it up at no cost. The problem was they didn't have it done correctly when they said it would be done.Another annoyance was that they wouldn't give my bridesmaids as discount on dresses there after I had bought my dress with them. Many boutiques and dress shops make this discount available, but not Dimitra's.Overall, they are professional but too busy.

I did not purchase my dress here but I did go to find accessories for my dress and to see about having my dress altered. However, the staff was not very helpful toward me. They were not willing to alter my dress but did give me the name of another company that might be willing. I was left on my own to find the things that I needed and I did not feel welcomed in their store.
GUEST

now the ladys here were very nice and i did not get my dress until febuary and the wedding was in may. they did the alterations farily quick and the ladys on the floor were trying to give me all kind of tips to make the day go smooth. my only complaint was the thursday before the wedding i was picking up my dress nad i decided to get a veil. when i asked for some help in picking one for the dress she brought me one that cost 150 dollars and was way over the top. i tried to explain i wanted simple like a plain veil with no beads she started acting like i was bothering her and said they did not have that when i started to say how could you not have a plain one she said she was goign to get the owner. well my mom for a plain veil for 50 dollars and it was just what i wanted no thanks to the ladys attitue which almost had me in tears

My dress fitting went awesome!!! It was more than I could have EVER asked for! They catered to me and listened to what I needed! After we paid for the dress, everything changed. I wasn't waited on like I was before. When my dress came back it was PERFECT!!!! It was gorgeous and the fitting was perfect! The only "fitting" that had to be done was just to bustle up the train, which I thought was way too expensive for something so simple. The bridesmaid dresses were way too big! A lot of altering for every person in my bridal party. I would def. recommend anyone to go to Dimitra's. The BEST thing to do is to MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!

I was MOST unpleased with this business. Shopping for a wedding gown should be one of the highlights for any bride. It's supposed to be a wonderful occasion, happiness, excitement, and professionalism from the place of business you have chosen. A bridal gown shop should be accomodating and understanding of a bride's needs. Dimitras had a wonderful selection of beautiful gowns, and I found mine almost immediately. I fell in love with it and was so excited. End story. After that, the experience was one I shall not forget, for very different reasons. The women who run this business have a demeanor that is condescending, inattentive, and rude. No one will assist you when you walk into the store. I always made an appointment before I came in to assure help. I always waited at least 30+ minutes after my arrival time, with no explanations or apologies. On the contrary, they often made it seem as though I was taking up their valuable time. The seamstress was terrible. Oh, she was a good seamstress, but a terrible person to work with. She did not speak English, nor did anyone come to interpret. She shot down what I wanted for my alterations, and completely took my measurements wrong. My first fitting was a disaster. I thought she had ruined my dress. It was SO tight (it fit like a glove when I first purchased it...I had NOT gained weight, trust me). The zipper went less than halfway up the back, and the little girl helping me into my gown (she had to have been 18 or 19), told me to "suck it in", that "most brides gain lots of weight when planning." I burst into tears. My mother nearly lost it. No one took it into consideration that she messed up with the dress. It took FOUR fittings to get it right. Two weeks before my portraits, I was going to get one last fitting to make sure everything was fine. I was told by the girl helping me she would wait outside until I was dressed so she could help me if needed and get the seamstress once I was dressed. I come out....no one is there. ANYwhere. I didn't want to walk across the floor in my gown so I stood there, peering for help for at least 10 minutes. Finally, a mother in the store with another bride saw me and sought someone out for me. No apologies. The dress still was not fitting right (believe me it was the alterations done wrong, no change in me), and I asked if she could make a minor adjustment. AND I QUOTE:"No! It's too late. It's prom season. We too busy. You come in for more than two fittings. Why? Most only come for two fittings. It's too late." (I came in for more than two fittings because she messed up the measurements, hello!). I stood firm and she said, "I go and get Dimitra" She stood in the back and I could hear them arguing from where I stood, and she said, "You come back in two hours and I'll get dress fixed." Why was she making such a fuss if she could have done it in two hours?!!!!! I rank bridal gowns over prom gowns, I'm sorry. They cost three times as much, are for a more important occassion...and it's a BRIDAL GOWN STORE!They charged me for the carrying bag. They sold the slip I had put on hold for my gown, so I had to find a new one. They Ran up the costs of the alterations over the initial quote, slipping in little fees that were never explained. Poor service, poor quality. It was a painful and hurtful experience of my wedding and I do NOT recommend this vendor to any girl in the Upstate area. Please, go to Southern Bride instead. They are so kind and very helpful. It's a smaller store, but they make up for it in their quality of service. Sincerely,Amanda Pelicano

I bought my dress and had it altered at Dimitra. I previously visited other dress stores and Dimitra was in a class of its own. It was not a giant warehouse of dresses like some of the other places were. Each sales associate assisted me and I never felt pressured to buy any accessories, but I like that they had everything you needed under one roof. At some of the other places they were pressuring me to buy the bra, veil, shoes, etc. At Dimitra I felt like I could take as much time as needed to find the perfect dress. Their alterations are exceptional as well.
The dress I chose only went up to a specific size and I was one size too big. Dimitra ensured me they could make it work. I had my doubts and was a little nervous. For each fitting the dress was better than before and for the final fitting it fit wonderfully. They truly worked magic on my dress and were on time with every detail.

While the actual dress and veil purchase went well, the fitting was a disaster. I would say if you are purchasing your dress here, have it altered somewhere else. Dimitra's does have a huge selection and some beautiful dresses. It is a great place to shop. My issue started when I went in for my fitting. I had an appointment and first was left alone with a seamstress who could not speak English so she had no idea what I was telling her was wrong. Then another bride came in, with no appointment, and I was bumped, in my wedding dress, to walking around the salon until she was finished. She had a problem with her alterations and was very upset. The pins popped on my dress and they were stabbing me the whole time. To say it was disorganized is an understatement. In the end my straps were not altered correctly and I had to keep adjusting them during my wedding.

Dimitra Designs was very helpful when I was purchasing my bridesmaids dresses. They were knowledgeable and courteous to my family and bridesmaids. The dresses were ordered and delivered in a timely manner. The alterations were a bit pricey, however.
The printing service within Dimitra Designs was very helpful. The person on staff was knowledgeable and easy to work with. She did not push me to choose the most expensive invitations, but helped me to choose what I really loved.

Save yourself the time, the money, the headaches, and the ultimate disappointment. Go somewhere else.

My dress was beautiful, but if I could have purchased it from another shop, I would have. When my dress arrived, it had imperfections and when we inquired to the manager, her response was to get their seamstress to sew beads over the problem areas. It took fifteen minutes of arguing before they would agree to re-order my dress. On top of all of this, they charged extra for a carrying bag (something even the worst stores in the area included). The girls that helped in the shop were sweet, if a bit clueless, but the manager was a bit rude and left a LOT to be desired!

Love, love, love them! Everyone there was extremely helpful and super patient. I order my dress and all of my bridesmaids dresses from them.
