This DJ Company is great! Extremely professional and helpful. The DJ at my wedding really worked with us, he sat down with us and really took the time to help us plan the perfect wedding. They really kept the flow of our wedding going too. I would recommend them to anyone!

Mike Liggins was my DJ for my wedding. He did an awesome job! I will be using him in the future for any other events I am coordinating. He was friendly, showed up on time and did everything we asked of him.

Ryan made our wedding and ceremony fabulous. Ryan really worked to customize his music list to our tastes and our guests. Our wedding was very family and child oriented and we told Ryan that as long as our music loving five year old was having a blast then we’d be happy. He met and exceeded that goal by downloading music just geared to that crowd. He also played a great variety for the adults to enjoy as the party went on. We would absolutely work with Ryan again and recommend him to anyone.

By the far the best DJ I have ever seen at a wedding. People kept talking about what a wonderful job he did. He went above and beyond what was required of him, was incredibly easy to work with, and made our wedding reception a ton of fun. Would DEFINITELY recommend him.

I would absolutely recommend D.J. on the side to any bride and groom! Hands down, the music and flow of the night was the most important thing to me and having a background in event planning myself, I have seen a fair share of DJ'S. Trevor, our DJ, did a great job...he kept us dancing to the wee hours of the night and was very helpful in keeping our timeline for the nights festivities on track! I love that you can use the online tool that they offer to help set up your song list and timeline. They did a great job and I will surely recommend them to any of my future clients!

Awesome company! I called DJ on the Side literally 2 weeks before my wedding because my original DJ bailed on me. They scheduled me a DJ without a problem and saved the day!Ryan Brooks was a phenomenal DJ- can't say enough good things about him!

My husband and I chose to have Chris (the owner) be the DJ for our wedding, and he was great! I was very impressed with his ability to keep things moving. His introductions were great and he asked for very specific information to make our reception fit our many preferences. He asked for music we definitely wanted to play, definitely did not want played, and met with us twice to make sure he had everything the way we wanted it! He had practically every song people requested to have played, he was very professional, and even when things started getting crazy, with my relatives that drank too much, he was able to keep the speeches to a minimum. I really enjoyed having him DJ our wedding. He was also the DJ at one of our friends wedding as was just as amazing, so I know it wasn't a one-time thing. I recently got married in early September 2010 and depended a lot on reviews from wedding wire to help me select an awesome DJ. I was impressed with what I read about Chris from DJ on the Side Entertainment and so I booked him. Chris met all my expections and even went above and beyond to deliver an amazing reception. We were able to meet twice before the wedding day and went through all the details and expectations of the reception. He gave us some great suggestions on music and timelines for the evening. He left us feeling great and relaxed about the reception as my fiance and I left with big smiles on our faces. The fact that Chris was familiar with other reception venues in the area was a plus too. Chris did an amazing job as the MC and the DJ. Not only was the music selection great, but the way he organized the music to have a great flow kept everyone on the dance floor throughout the night. He was great with all my guests too as he was able to announce what event would be next to give them plenty of time to set up for pictures. To this day I still receive phone calls and email from my guests telling me that they had an awesome-fun time at the reception and want to know the name of the amazing DJ that we booked. The DJ/MC really does make a big difference on any reception and you will not at all be dissapointed with Chris from DJ on the Side. I would book him for any future special occasions. Chris was the DJ for our wedding in Cape Charles. He was awesome! He was really great at switching up the mood from cocktail hour, to dinner, and then to dancing. He had a packed dancefloor all night long! He was very attentive to what kind of music we did and did not want played at the reception, and we had a pretty young crowd so we really wanted it to be a big, fun party. We got just that. Chris was punctual and very friendly, and I'd recommend him to anyone!

We cannot say enough great things about our experience with DJ on the side! We worked with Trevor for our wedding reception, and from the beginning, we knew he was a great personality fit. He was helpful during the planning stages, and met with us several times before the wedding to go over announcements and the order of the night. Trevor even provided a schedule to our venue and photographer, so everyone was on the same page for the pacing of the evening. Chris is super to work with. Very prompt to reply to emails and return phone calls. The website was fun to play around with the planning tools. We told our DJ, Ed, to play anything that kept people having fun and we had a crowd dancing the whole night. He even played over our timeline. He was great and took requests from all the guests. We had so much fun dancing!! I was surprised by how much dancing our crowd of fairly shy/non-dancing folks kept up on the dance floor!

DJ on the Side Entertainment is very professional to work with. We were lucky enough to have Chris (the owner) as our DJ. Our group of friends like him so much 2 of my other friends used him too! He has the right balance of new music and old music to keep everyone dancing the whole night! He is so good at planning out the entire night. He had great equipment and knew exactly when to start switching up music depending on the moment. My husband and I live in Northern Virginia and Chris even drove up to meet us to discuss the details of the night! And he lives in Cheasapeake VA. Plus... he drove all the way out to Hot Springs, VA for my wedding, with only a small travel fee. He makes the night a great experiance!

DJ on the Side provided excellent DJ & MC services for my daughter's wedding. As I was also the wedding planner, DJ on the Side made coordination so much easier by meeting with the bride & groom months before the wedding to assure that the reception music and flow was exactly what they wanted. I highly recommend them. Also, price-wise, they charged about the same as other DJs in the area.

You will not find better customer service than DJ on the Side. I never once sent an email or inquiry that wasn't responded to within an hour. I have never seen customer service like this. They got it right! Trevor was our DJ and was fantastic. People are still raving about the reception 3 months later! Their online system is incredible and gives you as much or little control as you want. I never once had to worry about my DJ once I booked them because I knew it would be top notch, and that it was. Truly the best of the best, and they have great prices! Seriously, it does not get any better than DJ On The Side. They make you feel like family. Even though Trevor was my DJ, Chris (the owner) made sure to check in with me and see how I was doing and how planning was going. I can't recommend Dj on the Side enough. My wedding reception was a blast thanks to them! Chris was fun, professional, and a great MC. He played music the entire crowd loved from my college aged friends to my 3 year old nephew to my 80+ grandparents. My wedding was on New Year's Eve, so the DJ was one of the most important parts of the reception! Their online tools are awesome. They answer any questions you might have, whether by phone or via e-mail, super fast. Chris even helped me create the timeline for my big day! Their prices are more than fair, I actually came in under budget. Money well spent. DJ on the Side is the best choice there is!

Jim Myers was our DJ. He was outstanding. We had some "challenging" circumstances (terrible weather, venue-difficulties, and tricky family dynamics) - and Jim's performance helped us have a fabulous party anyway! Chris and Cammie were professional, responsive, and pleasant.I never worried about this vendor during our planning process, and on the day of the wedding, Jim completely lived up to our expectations.I would recommend this company to anyone - it was a pleasure to work with them.

Worth every penny!!!! Our wedding was a blast and that had a lot to do with our DJ. He followed our play and do not play lists perfectly and even managed to find some obscure requests that we sent his way. If you want complete peace of mind when it comes to wedding day music, use DJ on the Side. Their website is super user friendly and it allows you to change your mind and add or delete songs and ideas as they come to you in your wedding preperations. Not only that, but the day of our DJ made us laugh and feel completely at ease with letting him guide our evening along. Would recommend him to everyone!

Above and beyond the BEST of the best!! Our DJ ryan Brooks was AMAZING!! The whole process with owner Chris was easy and the level of customer service is great! The flow of the night couldn't of been better. Ryan went with the flow of the crowd, even finding soundbytes and songs that I though would be impossible. Wonderful. I read a lot of reviews on this site before booking them for our wedding and couldn't have been more pleased. After placing an inquiry online I received a call and an estimate from the company's owner in less than an hour. From that moment on their staff did all they could to accommodate us. My husband and I were states apart and the DJ was great about helping us do as much as we could over the internet and met with us at the drop of a hat when we were able to get in town. My husband and I are really not fans of all the silly dance songs but when our guests continued to request them he refused until he had verbal permission from the bride. After the wedding he gave us a CD with all of the songs he played on it and since the whole day was a blur it's so nice to have. Mike was our DJ but I feel like anyone from the company would do an excellent job.

DJ on the Side is without a doubt the best DJ company I have ever interacted with - either as the individual in charge of hiring or simply someone enjoying the music. Although my wedding was more than 2 years ago, when I heard about how many brides are using WeddingWire for recommendations, I had to write a review. We worked very closely with Chris, Cammie, and our DJ Ryan. Every step of the process was so easy and literally could not have been improved in any way. Ryan kept guests - from ages two and a half to over eighty - on the dance floor all night. Guests actually tried to bribe him to keep the dance music going when we paused for cake. Ryan was professional, accessible, and very friendly. I would use DJ on the Side for any and every event. Their level of service, their prices, and their customer-service oriented attitude cannot be beat. Choosing DJ on the Side is one of the very best wedding planning decisions I made.

Chris and Jim at DJ on the Side were absolutely fantastic! They helped so much in the planning leading up to the wedding and were always extremely prompt with responses to any of our questions. Chris and his team are FABULOUS! I must thank them immensely for their ability to be flexible and helpful during our wedding day. When we had venue problems, Cammie and Jim were right there making sure everything was setup and ready given the impending threat of rain. Also, Cammie was great at directing the family members, bridesmaids and me to walk down the aisle. Jim was perfect throughout the reception and was even able to change up the timeline a bit for us when we decided to do dinner a bit earlier than we initially thought. He kept the room dancing all night and I truly didn't want to end. Even better my now husband was on the floor all night with me. Their website, their quick responses and their great price make this a company to use for all your events!

We worked with Chris for our wedding, and we're both so thrilled we made such an excellent choice. Chris was always available to answer our questions when we had them before the wedding and put any reservations or worries I had to rest. He was frank, easygoing and very professional.The DJ on the Side website is really easy to use and a lot of fun. They've posted songs that other couples have used, which we found very helpful whenever we were stuck.At the wedding, he was perfect. The introductions were a breeze and the music during dinner was exactly what we had wanted. He even helped out the best man during his speech! At the reception, he played the best music. All of my friends have told me that they've never had so much fun as they did at ours, and I can easily say that 95% of that was because of Chris. There was never an empty dance floor, and everyone was dancing the night away. I couldn't recommend Chris and DJ on the Side any more.

Andy and I have had the best experience with DJ on the Side! When inquiring about availability, an e-mail was sent within 24 hours with information. With our hectic schedules and living on the Eastern Shore, Chris was accommodating on when and where to meet for our first meeting. He was great with understanding our needs and choosing the right DJ for us. Andy and I loved that we were able to go online and fill out a timeline of what will happen during the night and especially enjoyed adding favorite songs to be played during the reception. Cammie was such a pleasure talking to on the phone and via e-mail. And what can we say about our DJ Mike? We loved him! We could not have asked for anyone better. Mike went beyond his duties. It rained during our outdoor reception and for safety reasons had to stop the music. When the rain finally stopped, Mike went on to play the night away. We never expected him to continue playing over his allotted time but he did. His actions spoke so much about his character and the quality of DJs that Chris has on his team. I have had so many people come up to me after the reception telling me that they had such a great time and that they've never danced so much in their whole entire life! I would highly recommend DJ on the Side for your special day!

When DJ on the Side says they're different, they really mean it. They are not another typical bad-DJ-for-thousands-of-dollars company, but a company that truly cares about your event and will help in any way they can. The owner, Chris, was so friendly and helpful throughout the planning, and their online resources were PERFECT-you make song lists for "must play" songs, "play if possible" songs, and "do not play" songs (i.e. the chicken dance :)). Our actual DJ, Ryan, could not have been more perfect. He was energetic, spoke at the right times to let everyone know what was going on but wasn't overbearing, and obviously loves what he does. To this day, almost 8 months later, we still get compliments on our DJ and how great he was!!! On top of everything else, DJ on the side is reasonably priced. Compared to other DJ's in the area (many of whom we met with), DJ on the Side is worth every penny and then some. Don't waste your time looking at any other DJ's, because you won't find any better than DJ on the Side.

DJ on the Side was wonderful to work with. Our DJ was Chris and he was friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. We booked him months in advance, yet he kept in contact with us and even set up another meeting to go over details the closer it got to the wedding. Chris even worked up a timeline for the wedding day which was totally an unexpected surprise. He really made the planning process that much easier. DJ on the Side tailors the service to each couple and they sit down with you and determine the direction you want your reception to go. On the wedding day, Chris was able to read the crowd and would change the music with the mood of the people. I was shocked at how many people were still there for the very last song. My husband and I would highly recommend DJ on the Side!

Chris Phillips, the owner, was extremely responsive and wonderful to work with. He drove from Chesapeake to Northern Virginia for two meetings, which was a great time saver for us (wedding was held in Richmond). I highly recommend hiring Chris!

As I told Chris when I gave him his tip, if all wedding vendors were like him, wedding planning would be completely stress-free! He was definitely the most costumer service oriented vendor out of all of my wedding vendors. He came highly recommended by other brides on the Knot, and he absolutely deserves it. He would send me emails or call to check in with me, in case I needed anything. His fee was definitely reasonable, and you can tell that he takes pride in doing a fantastic job for you…which he does! With such a small guest list, I was a bit worried about keeping everyone dancing, but by the end of the night, it seemed like everyone was dancing! He knew exactly what to play, and was also able to sneak in some songs that we requested. Really, he was the perfect wedding vendor.

Working with the team at DJ on the Side was one of the best parts of planning my wedding. We met with the owner first and got a really good feeling about the company, so much so we decided to go with them at that moment. We only had time for one meeting with the Ryan, the DJ who also performed as a Master of Ceremonies at the reception, and all we can say is that everything was perfect. He kept the night going, got all our special requests, and even came up with the idea for a game which everyone mentioned was their favorite part of the night.

I came across DJ on the Side based on some fellow brides recommendations and after my first contact with Chris I was sold. Chris is a genuinely nice guy and was repeatedly checking in and offering me any assistance I needed since he knew we were planning from so far away. Even offering to go take some pictures of the venue for us:) We didn't get to meet till a couple days before the wedding and after going over the music again I knew he got "our style" and we would have the kind of music we loved. Chris kept people dancing all night and was very unobtrusive. I highly recommend Chris or his other staff at DJ on the Side.

DJ on the Side provided excellent service. They have a vast music library, and an online tool enabling the bride and groom to pre-select songs from the library, and place into 1 of 3 categories: Definitely Must Play, Play if Have Time, and Do Not Play. We utilized the "Do Not Play" list, and it worked like a charm! No Electric Slide or Chicken Dance at our reception!The DJ for both the ceremony and reception were extremely professional. For the reception, our DJ did a wonderful job of getting people onto the dance floor, as well as acting as MC for the evening. I wouuld highly recommend this DJ to anyone in the Hampton Roads area.

Chris from DJ on the Side was awesome! The professionalism, responsiveness and flexibility was unmatched! We have already referred many people to Chris. Everyone at our wedding was dancing and laughing the entire reception and we attribute that to Chris. We could not have asked for a better DJ. Matter of fact he DJ'd for my company holiday party last December-he received RAVE reviews there as well. We feel that he made our reception what it was and we will always be grateful to him for contributing to the most special day of our lives!

Chris (the owner) did our wedding, and he ROCKED!!! Everything about working w/him and his company was stellar. The web site even allows you to create a list of songs you would like to hear, what to use for specific dances, and which songs you absolutely do NOT want to hear, no matter what. He actually told one of our guests that he did not have a copy of The Chicken Dance b/c he "forgot" to upload it! (We had already told her repeatedly that we did not want it played at the reception.) And, he was very accommodating when we ran late from the wedding/getting pics taken afterwards. He also has an excellent speaking voice, and did well with all announcements. We really enjoyed this aspect of our night, and we hope to use this vendor again in the future. (They do all kinds of functions.)

DJ on the Side is a great company! They came highly recommended to me and now I will recommend them to any future brides! Chris came out to my house to meet with me, my groom and parents just to explain the services and to get to know us. Ryan was our DJ for the night and he also made a trip out meet us and get the feel of our wedding reception. We picked a few songs but mainly left it up to Ryan to keep the crowd interested. He did a great job!! It was so nice to find someone we could trust to make our wedding reception so much fun! We STILL have people telling us it's the best wedding they've ever been too! This company is truly professional, but more importantly knows how to make people have a good time!

We found Chris on the Knot and my husband was completely opposed to using a dj. Once we met with Chris, he sold my husband and we don't regret the choice for a second. He was there all night. His extra cost was minimal for the fun we had thanks to his music. Our picture is on his site and it really displays the great night everyone had. Chris gives you the personal touch you need. I specifically told him no requests would be honored from my drunk sisters as the night wore on without my approval. Bridezillaish I know but he honored my request. That worked out well and no one even realized he was clearing things with me. Chris is incredibly professional and knows how to read any audience.

Amazing! We had Mike and Tommy and they were fantastic! Chris's wife was there to and she worked well with my DOC. I would highly, highly recommend DJ on the Side to anyone. Long after the wedding was over, we were still recieving comments on how great Tommy did. He played a great variety of music and mixed some things too! Chris actually met with us and helped us put together the schedule for the reception, which helped me a lot! My only complaint was that I wished Mike had called me more than two days before the day to discuss names and schedules. Otherwise, this was such a positive experience.

Working with DJ on the Side was a wonderful experience! I really enjoyed getting the chance to meet and talk with the DJ that was doing our wedding before the date. This really helped to calm my nerves, and the DJ got a chance to know our personality and style so that he could better serve us. Another great feature was the client website, where on our own time, we could pick songs that we wanted played and construct the whole program from the comfort of your home. The owner, Chris, responds back to any questions in a VERY fast and timely manner. I do not have that many bad things to say at all..... the wedding reception was great!!

I was hesitant to even book these guys when they showed up an hour late to our initial appointment because of traffic, but my mom talked me into them. They seemed very well put together and organized. I met with the actual business owner Chris and another DJ and I didn't like the idea of being paired with someone I wouldn't meet until our wedding day so we decided to pay the extra money and book Chris. With this we were supposed to get unlimited meetings with him and the extra sound equipment for all the old people to hear. We had one appointment after the initial one, and the services weren't anything what we wanted. We wanted someone who was fun and would help entertain and move things along, and that is not what happened. My mom was the one that had to keep requesting things like the bouquet toss, toasts, and such. Sounds like a great company and maybe the other DJs would have been better for us, but we were not satisfied with what we paid with what we got

Chris and his staff are great to work with. They know how to create the right atmosphere for your reception. We cover about 50 weddings a year, giving us the opportunity to work with a variety of DJs. Chris is definately one of our favorites to work with.
