DoubleTree Guest Suites/Fort Shelby Hotel

Our wedding at the Fort Shelby was absolutely perfect! Lyndsie and the rest of the staff were receptive and very accommodating to help make our wedding perfect. All of our guests couldn't stop raving about the great customer service, the hotel rooms, the elegance of the ballroom, and the delicious food Chef cooked up for us. If we had to do it all over again we would definitely have our wedding at the Fort Shelby again!!

We had a great experience working with Dee at the Fort Shelby. As with planning anything large and expensive and costly, there can be some hiccups but none that proved too discouraging. Most challenges, we were able to work through with Dee. In terms of cost, we spent a little more than expected due to our family and friends consuming a bit more alchohol than we anticipated. Anyway, the food was great. The wedding cake was delicious. The honeymoon suite was gorgeous. The room rates for guests were a nice touch (and the rooms were very nice). We are looking forward to our free 1-yr stay in a few more months!

The Doubletree Fort Shelby is an absolutely wonderful reception venue. We had several guests in from out of town and they got to stay at a very nice hotel for a very reasonable rate. The wedding package includes wonderful food, an open bar, valet parking for all of your guests, and a free hotel stay for the bride and groom. The banquet staff was wonderful and the banquet manager Dee was great!

We had the wonderful experience to have the Fort Shelby Detroit Doubletree as our ceremony and reception venue. We have nothing but stellar things to say about this location. We used their Terrace Ballroom for the ceremony and the gorgeous Crystal Ballroom for the reception. The Terrace is a blank enough canvass that you can dress it up to your tastes and really add drama- we didn't have to move furniture or take down decorations, which was a relief. And it fit all our family and friends with ease! With some chair covers and decorations no one would have guessed it was a meeting room by day. The Crystal Ballroom is stunning and has beautiful architecture, chandeliers and windows. It will take your breath away when you walk in and it only gets better when you add your own touches, although you don't even have to for it to be impressive! We had a little over 100 people and it was roomy enough for a set up of 10 people per table with a full dance floor, gift table, cake and dessert table, DJ set up, photo booth, etc. And the catering is to DIE for. It has been 4 months since my wedding and I am still hearing how great our entrees were. We were blown away at our tasting by the classic and creative food options and they were only better the night of the wedding. A few of our guests tried to get recipes! What a compliment to hear we didn't have another "dull chicken entree" wedding like others. And, of course, the fact that our guests got great room rates helped! This Doubletree is all suites and our guests loved that they could simply take an elevator to the ceremony/reception and not have to worry about parking or driving home after drinks. The Fort Shelby Doubletree was simply a fantastic venue for us and our guests- I would recommend it to any couple that is looking for a flexible, affordable and dramatic location that is convenient for their guests. :)

The staff there were amazing. Dee Cody was full of inspiration and great customer service. Sheand the staff there really made us feel like the red carpet was out just for us from our first visit to the hotel, to convincing my dad to book it, up to the very moment we checked out, the morning after our wedding!
