Duet Weddings, Rebecca Stone
This review wholeheartedly recommends Rebecca and Duet Weddings. I will add pictures when I get them...Leigh Miller (also a Rebecca recommendation) was our photographer.
Like many brides, I had not thought about my wedding until the proposal. When I hired Rebecca, I had just started a new (dream) job, was working 14 to 16 hour days, 6 to 7 days a week, my fiancé was working in Iraq, and I hadn’t settled on a date or a location. Planning my wedding seemed like just another difficult project to add on to an already challenging year.
While I initially hired Rebecca simply to be a day-of-coordinator, it soon became clear I needed a lot more help. When my original venue fell through, she guided me through finding a new venue and location. After that she guided us through each stage of the process (selecting vendors, design choices, working with vendors, etc) with professionalism, efficiency, and kindness. Allowing me to focus on my job, she was the main contact for all our vendors—many we did not meet until our wedding day. At every point in the process we felt certain our wishes, concerns, and questions, were being accurately conveyed through Rebecca.
Having chosen a venue where absolutely everything had to be brought in (lights, the kitchen, toilets, chairs, bars, tables, etc.) was a juggling act of coordination. In addition to the numerous challenges of the wedding day, we had wine tasting, golf games, a rehearsal dinner, a Friday night after-dinner reception, and Sunday brunch as part of the festivities. However, Rebecca’s efforts on our behalf insured we remained within our budget and allowed us to fully enjoy the weekend.
Since the wedding we have heard from our guests that they had an amazing time, the food was incredible, and the scene was gorgeous. Rebecca’s suggested additions have been a constant source of compliments (including menus she designed and printed for each place setting; small bundles of lavender at each place setting; “lunch bags” w/ a “juice box” of wine, an apple, and a quiz about us for the bus ride to the reception; and many more…). I can't imagine how it would have gone as well without her support and guidance.
Hiring Rebecca was, by far, the best decision my husband and I ever made regarding our wedding. Mike and I started the planning process on our own - we soon figured out that we didn't have nearly enough time or resources to do it all ourselves. And she was absolutely incredible!
We hired Rebecca about 8 months before the wedding. She helped us book any remaining vendors, finalize the overall aesthetic of the wedding, correspond with vendors, run errands, create and manage a budget, etc. we struggled with staying within budget and adhering to the timeline, and she was instrumental in helping us stay on track. For example, I was having a hard time finding an affordable florist who could provide the type of flowers I wanted, and I was running behind schedule. Rebecca did a ton of research, and found a talented new florist who gave us a very reasonable quote. On the day of the wedding, the flowers were stunningly beautiful and exactly what I was hoping for.
In terms of style, Rebecca presented many options while giving us a lot of space to think about what WE really wanted. She was constantly coming up with creative little touches, like unique packaging for the save-the-dates or innovative seating cards (miniature herb plants with names and table numbers written in calligraphy on popcicle sticks). Those little details helped make our wedding feel charming and personal - we certainly couldn't have come up with so many on our own.
On the day of the wedding, Rebecca and her assistant Miki oversaw every last detail. Mike and I were free to enjoy ourselves, and we had the most incredible time! Honestly, we got comment after comment from so many of our guests that it was the most beautiful, most unique, and most fun wedding they had ever been to. While I'd like to think Mike and I had a smidge to do with that, we both know that we have Rebecca to thank for the relative painlessness of the planning process and for the smashing success of the wedding itself.
Also, Rebecca is a DREAM to work with on a personal level. She is extraordinarily professional and timely, yet she made us feel so relaxed around her! She is warm and funny, and has impeccable taste. If I sound like I've been hired to do her PR, it's only because Mike and I can be pretty hard to please, and Rebecca went SO far above our expectations. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone!
There is not enough space here to explain how much she was a part of our wedding. She was not just our day-of coordinator, she stepped in about 8 mos. before the wedding, when I was working insane hours and realized I would go crazy without help. Rebecca and I started emailing after she responded to a post of mine on the Santa Barbara weddings site, and she had already given me lots of advice (she got married at Crossroads the year before me) when she told me she was starting a wedding planning business. I asked her to help and she was off to the races. She did a ton of work! She even co-designed our invitations with Seth. Our wedding was very ambitious, especially b/c of all of our DIY stuff, yet she handled it with professionalism and grace. She is also one of the nicest people you will ever meet--important when you need to get a pep talk!--and she has a great sense of style. Therefore, I never hesitated to incorporate her creative suggestions. It should be noted that while she provided practical advice and ideas, she never tried to "take over" the wedding. She let it be completely our own, but I can't imagine we could have pulled it off without her, or without the many friends and family who stepped in to assist both during the planning process and during the wedding weekend.
