The Dumbarton House was a fantastic location and the staff was incredible. I highly recommend having your wedding at Dumbarton.

It seemed like a great idea to get married here -- especially when we thought we weren't going to be able to use our church for the ceremony due to renovations. However, if you have a late fall, winter or early spring wedding, you will need one, if not two, very expensive tents, on top of an already high venue costs. I recommend holding your reception somewhere where the food is part of the package -- one less thing to coordinate and it saves you money.

Dumbarton House is a beautiful venue for a late spring, summer, or early fall wedding. Outdoor venues in the city are limited so that was part of the reason that we chose this space and we were not disappointed. It looked absolutely beautiful when all was set up and it has different spaces for cocktail hour and dinner, which is a nice feature. Our guests absolutely loved it. If I could, however, I would give Dumbarton 3.5 stars. The main drawbacks: (1) It is definitely overpriced when you consider the tent(s) (which are required), but most venues in DC are, and (2) I found the event coordinators unorganized, which added a few unecessary complications.

Dumbarton House is just gorgeous. We had our ceremony on the back garden centered on the stone niche between the urns. So intimate and picturesque. Our dinner was in the ballroom below, and because of the size of our group, had to tent the stone patio. With the French doors open, you wouldn't think it was two rooms. Dancing was inside, as well as cake cutting. Everything was just perfect. Highly recommend!!
Dumbarton House is a beautiful, unique, historic venue with several striking spaces for a wedding. There are very few venues in DC that have a great outdoor space for a ceremony or cocktail hour, and they keep the grounds maintained perfectly. Some of our very best weddings have been there, we highly recommend it!
