Working with Christine from Elegance on Paper was one of my favorite part of wedding planning. Not only does she create absolutely stunning and unique wedding invitations, but she also responds to every email or question in a prompt and timely manner. We have received numerous compliments on our Save The Dates and invitations. I can't wait to see the final product for our seating chart and wedding programs! We worked with Christine on many aspects of our wedding and even the surprise party invitations for my parents' joint 60th birthday party. We can have your consultation at any point between to 4-6 months before your wedding date, but I suggest that you give yourself enough time to decide on wedding party colors and think about what type of designs you might want to include. In order to provide the highest level of service to each of my clients I do limit the amount I take on during the busy wedding season. If you need save the dates, we can certainly meet earlier depending on when you want to mail them.
How long does it take to make custom invitation packages?
We should start the process 4-6 months before the wedding. The design and production stages take about 2 months. Given that you should mail invitations 6-8 weeks prior to the event, I need a 4 month minimum lead time for custom invitations. We begin with a consult, go through a number of design and proofing cycles, then it is production time. To read more about the process, click here.
What are your prices for wedding invitations?
Because everything I do is custom, the price is different for every invitation set. The style of invitation, types of papers used, number of inserts, number of layers, size of invitation, types of printing, number of envelopes, use of ribbons and quantity all impact price. The best thing to do is to determine your real budget and we can work together to create a beautiful invitation that suits you and your budget. To give you a general sense of pricing, here are approximate prices for a standard invitation set (invitation, mailing envelope, rsvp card and envelope and one extra insert). Flat panel: $3.50; Folded Card: $4.50; Pocketfold: $5.00. All packages are customized to your needs - you won’t pay for anything you don’t need. Extra inserts, ribbons, guest addressing and custom maps are additional.
How many invitations should we order?
When you have a solid count of the number of invitations needed, I suggest adding an additional 10. It is too expensive to have me make 4 or 5 more after-the-fact if you run out. You will want a few to keep for sentimental purposes and it is always good to have extras for any last minute additions or should any get lost or damaged in the mail.
Do you address envelopes?
Yes, I offer computer printed calligraphy for envelope addressing. I will incorporate your fonts, designs and colors to tie the invitation and envelope together for a complete presentation. I will provide you with a simple spreadsheet to complete for proper formatting.
When should we mail our Save-the-Dates?
Save-the-Dates are typically sent out anywhere from 6 months to a year before the wedding date. Destination weddings and weddings on holiday weekends should definitely consider an earlier mailing so guests can make their plans early.
When should we mail our wedding invitations?
It is customary to mail wedding invitations 6-8 weeks before the wedding date. You may want to mail as early as 10-12 weeks ahead for a destination wedding.
What should we use for an RSVP date?
RSVP deadlines are typically 2-4 weeks before the wedding. This leaves time both for the guests to determine their plans but also leaves enough time for you to finalize seating arrangements. You should verify with your reception location to see if they have any special requirements. If you are purchasing a seating chart or placecards from Elegance on Paper, a 4 week RSVP window is recommended as your final spreadsheet is due at least 10 days before your event.
I don’t see a design that fits my needs. Do you offer other designs?
Yes! Everything is custom designed for you. This website simply shows examples of my work, but I am not limited to these designs. I always love tackling a new design and creating something special and unique for each couple. If you’re not sure exactly what you want, that is ok too. We’ll talk about your likes and dislikes and I can suggest designs that might fit.
Can you design other pieces for my wedding?
Definitely! I can create almost anything printed - so think outside the box! For ceremony items, we can do any style ceremony program. Unity and memory candles are also gaining popularity and these can be custom-made with your monogram, names, date, and colors. For your reception we can create seating charts, table numbers, menus, bar menus, placecards, signage, favor tags, etc. I’m happy to investigate new and different items so feel free to ask about any unique items you need help with.
