Reviews for Elegant Lace Bridal
I like how you can browse all the dresses and choose the ones you want to try on. Most also have the picture on the bag so you can envision what it looks like.
The person I worked with was really sweet. She gave me a lot of great advice and didn't pressure me at all. I ended really loving a Casablanca dress here.
The store and dressing room isn't the nicest-looking. It's kind of open and reminds me a lot of David's Bridal.
I had the best experience at Elegant Lace Bridal. Leila was great, as well as others, who would assist me on the phone if she wasn't in. My Bridesmaids knew exactly what I was looking for so we went through the dresses and picked some the rack for me to try on. As I tried each dress on, Leila listened to my bridesmaids and I about the details we liked and wouldn't lie (like typical salespeople) and tell me everything looked good when we all clearly knew it didn't. My wedding gown came in months earlier than they had told me so that was good too.
Unfortunately, they didn't carry the brand of bridemaids dresses that my bridemaids wanted so we couldn't order them from Elegant Lace. I was, though, able to order my evening dress (Watters Wtoo Bridesmaid's Dress) from them at a discounted price since I ordered my wedding gown from them.

I have nothing bad to say, they were absolutely wonderful when I was there looking and when I found the one they were just as excited as me. I worked with Mary, she was so great to work with. I would recommend them to anyone out there dress shopping!
they kept pushing me to order one of their gowns, which I thought was only so so and they would not tell me the name of it
I had a good experience with this shop. I visited about 3. They were a bit out of the way since I'm in Sacramento. But they had a dress there that I loved for a good price. I did have to fight them off with a stick when they told me I HAD TO HAVE a $300 veil. And they did whine and cry when I said that I didn't plan to buy my dress there because of the location. Well they ended up giving me a decent discount on the dress, so it paid for my gas.
I'd look elsewhere for BM gowns. For some reason, those are really expensive. And the rooms are crowded. Def. make an appointment.
"Oh dear" was what i thought when I first came to this place. My friend had recently bought her MAggie Sattero dress here so she recommended it.
The store itself looks like it was still 1975. The owner was a little rude when i told her my wedding date. Since it was so far in advance, they might not have my dress later on.. blah blah blah.
The sample dresses are all in bags and are a little worn and don't seem to be in the best shape. Aside from that, the selection looked better than average and you are able to go through the racks to see if there is a dress you like, which is a plus.
Good place to check out if you are on a budget. They have Augusta Jones - an affordable british designer with beautiful gowns at a reasonable price. I think it is worth a visit if you are in the South Bay (san Jose) area but don't drive from the city to this place. Not worth it.
I worked with Wafaa at Elegant Lace. She was great! Everyone in this store is super-friendly and very helpful, totally different than the snobbish attitude I got at Trudy's (where they would not even let me browse through the dresses and had a 3 dresses max you can try on and you need an appointment). At Elegant Lace, you can just show up and they let your browse for hours. I ended up trying on 4 dresses and one of them was the one I bought. It arrived in 3 or 4 months, I don't remember exactly. They offer free pressing of the dress you buy, so I brought back my dress a week before the wedding and they pressed it. There was also a stain on the dress probably from the many times I tried it on and they removed it for me.
Elegant Lace was the first and only bridal shop that I went to. They had a big selection of dresses and were easy to work with. I went on a weekday evening and virtually had the whole place to myself. I tried on about 15 dresses and found the one. I worked with Synthia and she was great. She is the manager there. I bought my dress, veil, tiara, and crinoline from them. One MAJOR thing that I was frustrated with was that they didn't have all the sizes of crinolines available to try on. As a result, they sold me a crinoline that wasn't the right length. I'm 5'10 and they sold me a tea length crinoline which didn't make much sense. When I called about it, they didn't really have a clue but by that point I just wanted things right (my seamstressed sewed one into the dress for me). I also bought my bridesmaid dresses and my moms dress there. We were able to get additional discounts on them as I had bought my stuff there. Overall it was a good experience just probably not great. They had really bad lighting which is really dull and not the most flattering.
Everyone on the sales staff I've dealt with has been very friendly, with no pressure at all. There's no snootiness about being on a budget here; you can be up-front about your budget and your sales person will help you pull dresses from the rack in your range. They also don't force you to get alterations through them -- when you pick up your dress, you get a list of recommended seamstresses.
This was the only bridal store I visited. I did not price my wedding dress anywhere else, but since they press everything you purchase here for no extra charge, I suppose it's worth a mark-up.
I also purchased my crinoline here when I picked up my dress. It is nicer than all the ones I saw online.
I did not get a veil or other accessories, and was not pressured at all.
The only thing that irked me was that I wanted to pick up my dress on a Saturday afternoon, and the person on the phone scheduling my appointment said that they reserve their busiest hours for ladies who were still deciding on dresses. I paid for it, I should get to pick it up whenever I want! But that's a minor issue.
I had a so so experience with this place. Lots has to do with the fact that I went in on a weekend so I can understand that they were busy. Overall I felt I did not get enough help with the dresses and they also did not carry many of the gowns I had researched.
Just seeing the name of this store makes me shudder. I had a horrible experience with both the manager and owner, Mickey and Laura, and I would highly recommend staying as far away from this place as possible. The sales consultants are definitely sweet, but in the event that you have to deal with a manager, for something like a price adjustment or receiving the wrong order, you will definitely regret stepping inside the store.
The store also does things like using their own style number of dresses and veils, so that even after you buy your gown and veil, you still have to research the actual manufacturer's style number on your own (if you want to look for online photos, etc.). Their prices are also marked up by $100 or more than other nearby vendors.
If you want to see a large selection of gowns, they have it, and if you also want to be treated like cattle and want to be shown absolutely no respect or courteousness, this is the place to shop.
If you go here, ask for Vonia. She rocks! She will really take care of you. In general, I loved this store and the way they treated me. I felt like a princess! My sisters and mom came with me and they got the royal treatment as well =).
