Mick was amazing! We ended at midnight and the dance floor was totally packed! Enough said! He is NOT a cheesy DJ, which is what we wanted.

BEST. DJ. EVER.Mick is absolutely perfect! My biggest fear as a bride was having a terrible DJ...I have been to weddings before where the DJ was cheesy or obnoxious, or just didn’t know how to keep the party going, and to me, your DJ makes or breaks your event. From the very first time I spoke with Mick on the phone, I KNEW he would be our DJ as he had none of these negative characteristics. He listened to and catered to our every request, and gave his expert opinion and advice when needed (like helping us choose songs for special events). He understood our personalities and what type of wedding we were hoping to have and he gave it to us! He was so easy to work with and incredibly responsive. Our guests LOVED him...from the soundtracks he played, to his personality, to the funny spur-of-the moment (or planned) things we had going on. EVERYONE was coming up to me and telling me how awesome he was. He also sent us a DVD of pictures he and his wife, Julie (also amazing...wedding planner) took throughout the night, as well as created a slideshow for us and sent us the audio of the speeches our friends gave. Our wedding was a total party and we have Mick to thank for that!

Mick was awesome! He really made our wedding perfect. Everything flowed smoothly, he was so helpful and attentive. Most of all he was really good fun! People danced all night long. I am so glad I hired Mick as our Dj for our wedding. We went to a previous wedding that he did back in 2009 and when I was looking for vendors he was the only DJ I KNEW I had to have!! PASSION - that's what you will get if you hire Mick. I would say he is nearly as passionate about playing great music to create a fun-loving atmosphere as he is about English Football! My family is British and having his British sense of humor and accent as the MC of our reception was a very special touch. My husband is the biggest critic when it comes to music at other people's wedding, so he was determined to be very hands on with creating the set list. Mick was very cooperative and has MANY great ideas. he felt out the crowd well during the event kept the dance floor full and after the event has gone above and beyond sending us pictures, slideshows and recordings.

One of the best decisions we made for our wedding was hiring Mick Scrivener to be our DJ. He came highly recommended by a friend and was the first vendor we hired. On top of the fact that he came with such great reviews, I am a little obsessed with all things British and I wanted to hear his voice announcing all the important events after the ceremony. He worked both our ceremony and the reception and the day was perfect. Mick scheduled several meetings with us to find out what our musical taste was and to work out the list of “must plays” and “do not plays”. He also sent out monthly newsletters to all of his clients, sharing stories from his recent events, ideas and trends in local weddings. He made himself available at any time via email and quick to respond. Our ceremony was beautiful and the sound was perfect. Mick even accounted for the unusually windy day that it was and cleared everything with Jon and I before he made any decisions that may have been different from what we originally decided. He also kept the evening moving along without making us feel like we were being rushed through events. Mick made us feel like he cared about our big day and went out of his way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. He also did an excellent job or reading the crowd. My husband, Jon, and I got to hear all of the songs we had requested and even saw our guests making requests. Mick was accommodating but NEVER played a song if it was on our do not play list. Actually, he played a few songs in a “Do Not Play Montage” as a sort of teaser and warning not to request them. It was really fun and our guests got a kick out of it. In a surprising twist on the evening a family member of mine requested that I sing and Mick made sure I was 100% willing to do it before he played the song. He even recorded it and used it in our slideshow on his website. As an added bonus the day after the wedding we got to see pics of the day that he managed to take, while he was DJ-ing, set to the recording of me singing. It ended up being a lot of fun and I am so happy that he captured that moment and used it in our slideshow on his blog. Mick is one of the nicest, most professional and fun DJs you could possibly work with. He is extremely organized and offers suggestions only if you ask for them. He never pushed anything on us or made us feel bad for our decisions. In fact he seemed to be having just as much fun building the playlist with us as we did. I am actually a little sad that our wedding is over because I had so much fun working with him! I can honestly say that Mick made our wedding. I did not want a horrible and cheesey wedding DJ and immediately liked Mick during our first meeting. There was never a second choice when making our decision and Mick lived up to everything. He listened to what we wanted for our music selection (even when it was less than typical) and gave great suggestions on how we could get everyone involved on the dance floor. He made excellent suggestions on how to make our day memorable and brought special touches to our big day. I would 100% recommend him.

Mick was the DJ at our July wedding at the Thursday Club. If you are considering hiring Mick for your party, just say yes! His careful attention to detail was evident during our meetings and at the reception. Mick provided excellent support in selecting our song list given his extensive music catalog and we felt confident in our plans for the reception. He and our photographer, Carrie McCluskey, worked beautifully together as they facilitated the biggest day of our lives. My husband and I usually are on top of things, but we could not hold a thought in our heads on that sublime day. Fortunately, Mick kept the reception on schedule by giving us kind and patient direction (sometimes repeating things more than once). He played our favorite music, but also inserted songs that appealed to our crowd of all ages. Mick came on board last minute in our wedding plans and was so easy to work with. We produced a very eclectic and "old-fashioned" list of requests and he turned out a memorable playlist for our wedding dance and reception. Mick was awesome. We loved Mick. Not only did Mick have a great grasp on our music style but he also had great suggestions for songs that we used during the ceremony and reception that were perfect. My husband wanted to walk down the aisle to "Sweet Child of Mine". Mick had a wonderful string version that flowed perfectly with our flamico guitar pre-ceremony music and was a little less harsh then Axel. Mick also has a great sense of humor. He would slip in little bits of music to liven the moment. He also has a GREAT montage of "Don't Play" songs song (everyone of my guests have mentioned to me to how great that little piece was). My new husband and I just got married June 11th, and yes I am on my honeymoon writing about Mick's amazing professionalism, friendliness, and talent that were crucial elements of our beautiful wedding.We are New Yorkers and found out about Mick from our wedding coordinator, Julie Scrivener, incidentally his wife. As we were planning our wedding from 3,000 miles away, I thought that a husband-and-wife duo would really ensure everything goes smoothly, but little did I know just how much more amazing each vendor would be.Mick and Julie work together yes, but they each stand their own in their separate areas of expertise. What we liked about Mick was that he helped make our wedding so personal - he followed the song questionnaire we followed very closely, and threw in a few songs that he knew we would like (and he was definitely right on the money).When we first met him, it was a few hours before the wedding, and the way he introduced himself with a smile (or more like a warm grin) made him immediately likeable and approachable. We could hear the music playing all during setup as he was testing for sound and slideshow audio-visuals (he later told us he tested our slideshow from beginning to end 3 times, so he is definitely thorough!).We gave him a challenge because we wanted the Chicago Bulls entrance to the reception, with pre-game sounding announcers, and he pulled it off beautifully (not cheesy at all, but with a great booming British accent - he must have practiced just for us because he mentioned he had never done this before, which made us even more grateful that we had selected him).During the wedding, the music was great - it was at the perfect volume, so guests can still talk to each other while others danced. So many guests complimented us during and after the wedding on our DJ and music selection, both young and old guests. We especially appreciate his ideas on improving transitions between the First Dance, Father-Daughter Dance, etc., that we felt were differences not to be overlooked. He is not one to overlook small details, and we have been to so many other weddings where transitions were not properly planned.All in all, we enjoyed working with Mick because we can sense passion in his work, with classy and warm professionalism to match. We had interviewed several DJs prior to knowing about Mick, and the other DJs had come off as cold, pushy, even bossy. After hearing about Mick, we actually didn't bother interviewing him because his reputation preceded him. And after our wedding, we are convinced that there is no better DJ in the San Diego area better than Mick/Elite British DJ.

When planning our recent wedding we knew exactly which DJ we were going with. Mick was the DJ and emcee at our sister's wedding a few years back and did an unbelievable job. To no surprise he was equally impressive the second time around.

Mick has a great style and taste of music that keeps the evening fun and light hearted with music that appeals to all ages. It's great to see grandmas and grandpas out on the dance floor cutting it up alongside the 20 something year olds!!!

I was a little worried having our wedding on a Sunday evening that people would not be as interested in dancing but I was definietly wrong and I know a big part of that is because of Mick. Okay, hands-down our favorite vendor. Mick went above and beyond for our wedding & we seriously have him to thank for the overall success of the evening! When you meet with him, you'll see his dedication and expertise in the area of DJing (is that a word?) and he is willing to work with WHATEVER you want, while offering tips & tricks to keep the energy level high. He recommended us go straight from our first dance into "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas and get EVERYONE on the dance floor. I was skeptic at first but let me tell you, this was AMAZING. The energy level was so high and there's nothing like being in the middle of the dance floor, looking around at 200 people you love dearly, all dancing, partying it up, jumping around and having a great time. I don't think there was a single person in their seats and the photographs from this are fantastic. Besides the moment I became officially married, the 3 minutes of this song was the happiest I've ever been. A GREAT idea! Mick knows everything and is WELL worth the cost!! He even gave us an audio recording of the entire ceremony plus all the speeches & stuff, and the entire playlist of our wedding!!PROS:-Super experienced DJ-TONS of great ideas (plus his wife is a great wedding planner... I didn't use her but I hear she's fabulous... he offers packages with her as well and I feel he knows more about weddings since he's married to her!)-Kept the dance floor going all night long!-Awesome British accent ;)CONS:-Absolutely none. I hired Mick for my parents 50th wedding anniversary party. The party was much like a wedding reception, which is why this review is beneficial to those seeking a DJ for a wedding. he is very professional, friendly, patient, easy-going, accomodating and got the bulk of 100+ guests out on the dance floor. He had plenty of songs to choose from and helped plan our timeline. He rolled along with my last minute changes, even at the party. He's not at all like any of the cheesy DJs you run across. Mick Scrivener, the master behind “Elite British DJ” is the most charismatic, funny and experienced disc jockey I have ever seen perform at a school dance, wedding, bar or bat mitzvah event (the basic events where people hire a band or disc jockey). He is incredibly professional, while adding his own personal style and sense of humor to the event. We found him so down-to-earth and personable, easy-to-work with, and when it came down to it, he took care of all of our master of ceremony needs, as well as managing the music for our entire wedding reception. Having Mick as your DJ is the best decision you will ever make for your wedding! Our dance floor was packed and by the end of the night guests who we have never seen dance in our lives--uncles, aunts, my friends' parents---were on the dance floor waving their hands in the air and dancing! Without a doubt, our wedding was the amazing event it was because of the fantastic people behind the scenes like Mick. I remember you were handing out your CD's & Julie was thoroughly explaining some wedding details to a bride... I think the main difference that stood out was that you just seemed natural; whereas a lot of other DJ's at the Bazaar seemed a little corporate & stereotypical. It was also cute, because when I finally broke through the line of people that were waiting to talk with you--you even remembered my name--after only meeting me once in person! That was pretty impressive. Needless to say, we never had a doubt that you would by far meet our expectations, but we had know idea how far you would exceed our expectations! You did such a fantastic job with the ceremony music, cocktail music & reception music--everything was perfect!! You played all our favorite songs, edited songs the way we requested and kept the crowd dancing and energized the entire time. Not only did we not want the night to end--I don't think any of the guests did either. We used Mick as our DJ for our wedding last month. Wow!! All I can say he is met our expectations and beyond!If you are considering booking him, move fast! We booked him 13 months beforehand. He has tons of good ideas and knows everything there is about music. He gives you several cds with all kinds of music to pick from. We told him what we liked and left the rest up to him. Besides that he is incredibly approachable and really just a fun person to be around. Similar to his wife (she is an excellent wedding planner) he pays close attention to details. This was so comforting to know and made us not worry about a thing on the actual day. At the wedding itself, he had people on the dance floor from the beginning to the end. People are still talking about how much fun they had. I know that the atmosphere was a result of the incredibly talented DJ we had. Thank you Mick!!

I am still receiving compliments on my wedding and I owe it to our wonderful DJ. His personality and style makes him stand out amongst other dj's out there. He does not need to use props or act cheesy to get the crowd involved. Elite British DJ has an amazing ability to read the crowd and communicates with the bride/groom throughout the night to make sure everyone is having fun. He is way underpriced for his quality of service.

What can we say everyone told us the our wedding was the best they'd ever been to, and there was a lot of dancing going on, so Mick had the music mastered. From the first meeting, Mick was well organized and professional. He helped make the planning and music selection easy, and provided a ton of great song ideas without forcing his own standard playlist on us. He even helped us find songs for our ceremony music. On the day of he made sure we liked the uplight colors since there was a question about how they would look in the room. Throughout the night he kept our guests informed about events. We also had his wife Julie as our coordinator, and the two of them kept us on track and aware of what was coming up next. So instead of the whirl wind wedding you hear about, we were able to enjoy and absorb the entire night. The music kept everyone dancing, he even extended an impromptu limbo session because he was always in tune with the crowd and dance floor. Outstand across the board, and a great accent.

I love Mick! I am so happy we had him at our wedding, I felt so lucky! We had a smaller wedding with a fairly short reception and not a lot of flks dancing, but it was still a really good time! People really liked the music and everyone was kept entertained. Mick was so supportive and helped all the reception events go smoothly. My parents were so thankful for his professionalism and support, and were so happy that we hired him. Thanks to Mick, we had a beautiful, memorable reception. He was so helpful before the wedding in choosing the music, and helped us make important decisions. He had so many great suggestions and we used a lot of them. We got to choose the music for the cocktail and dinner hours, and people really enjoyed what was played. He really helped us personalize the reception! I highly reccommend him!!

Mick of Elite British DJ made my wedding absolutely BRILLIANT! If you want a dance party with your family and friends literally dancing their shoes off, and at the end of night, still clamoring for more - HIRE MICK. He is fantastic, knows every genre of music that is out there, spun a brilliant 80s playlist for our crowd, and has a charming British accent to boot - so all of those Emcee announcements sound even cooler in person. :) He's wonderful - thank you, Mick for a great wedding reception!!!

It was absolutely amazing working with Mick. He definitely went above and beyond his call of duty to make our day perfect! Moreover, his wife Julie, was excellent to work with as well. They work together as a perfect team. Mick was an outstanding DJ for our wedding and helped make the dance floor rage on until the final song! Julie was our wedding planner for the final month leading up to our big day. She is nothing less than fantastic!Julie and Mick put their heart and soul into making your day... YOUR DAY. They truly cared about us and were thrilled to work with them. We wish our wedding day wasn't over...they made it that awesome!

Mick was another one of my favorite vendors! He was so fun to work with and you can tell he really enjoys his job. He is a true wedding professional and he really knows what ideas will fly at a wedding and what will not. We met with him and Julie over a year before the wedding and booked them both immediately. It was almost torture that we booked him so early though because he had me so excited for the wedding that I didn?t want to wait. We met with him about a month before the wedding and we picked almost the entire reception songs. He had lots of great suggestions. On the day of the wedding he did not disappoint. I had a GREAT time at my reception! It was great to hear all the music that we had already discussed! We had a couple of surprises at our wedding and I think the guests really had fun.

Mick was an excellent DJ. My mother and I met him at a bridal bazaar and the first thing that drew me to him was that he was british since my entire family is from England. After speaking to him though I realized that he was the perfect DJ for us for so many reasons beyond that. He has performed so many wedding he really has a great idea of what needs to be played so that people are having a great time. He watches the crowd to get a feel for what your particular crowd is enjoying. He also gives great advice without being to pushy. Also he had a great sense of humor which was great for when he was making the announcements, you really felt like he was a part of the fun instead of forcing cheesy lines on people to try and get a laugh.

We were married in December of 2007 at the El Cortez in San Diego. When I was planning the wedding the one thing I was dreading was the DJ. My husband and I were so "anti" dj's. They seem to play the same awful songs, they have cheesy taste, etc. I had asked around to find the least cheesiest DJ and Mick's name came up. So reluctantly, I contacted him after viewing his website. He contacted me right away and was available for my date. We met with him and immediately connected with him. He had similar music taste, music was important to him (which was important to us as musicians). You could tell he was an expert at what he did! We didn't hesitate to book him and then were ecstatic that we knew we were in good hands! Leading up to it, the process was smooth and we made some recommendations for the day and he took care of the rest of it. He was always quick to reply and answer questions! Fast forward to the day of and he was even BETTER than we expected. I would never in a million years recommend any other DJ! One of the things people STILL talk about our wedding, was our DJ... and it's been almost 4 years!

Mick is beyond amazing! From the get go, he captured the feel and mood of the KAIN / BASARAB dream dance -athon IDEAL wedding reception. Last Saturday's party was incredible. Guest after guest continue to facebook, email and phone with kudos wanting to do it all over again. We warned Mick and Julie (great team) that the DANCE FLOOR would be packed all night. The fun never stopped. Mick's seamless flow with just the right SELECTIONS & connections guarantees great fun for all ages. WE literally danced all night and never wanted the music to stop! GREAT JOB!!!5 stars times TWO!!! Best DJ (Event coordinator) in SD barring none! THANKS MICK AND JULIE!!!

Mick did a great job at our daughter's wedding! He was fun to work with. He read the crowd and kept people dancing all night with a variety of songs. He always responded to us promptly and was very accomodating. Mick put in that extra and we all really appreciated it. You can tell he really loves what he does and takes pride in it. We also used his wife, Julie, as a "month of" coordinator and we would highly recommend her too!

We have had the pleasure of working with DJ Mick a bunch over the last couple years and every single couple RAVES about him. What a cool, charismatic dude! He has excellent taste in music and is really good at feeling out the crowd to make sure everyone is having a great time. He gets everyone to party like crazy, and we get even better photos!
