Embassy Suites Dulles North
I hosted my reception here, and after a few bad meetings with the revolving door of event managers, Mary Pultz, Director of Sales stepped in and pulled off a beautiful reception. Every detail of the reception was handled expertly and my husband and I were treated like royalty by all the staff at the hotel. Our catering manager (sorry to say that I can no longer remember his name) was hilarious and never let my drinks be less than half full. Their chef is a hidden gem. Rarely am I impressed by reception food, but our steak was done perfectly, and everyone raved about theirs as well - so it wasn't just the A-game for the bride and groom. And people are still talking about the mini beef wellington appetizers. They did screw up my parents' room (big snafu given they were paying and my dad ended up missing about 30-45 minutes of the reception while they straightened it up), but all-in-all, I was extremely pleased with the event. One thing they could improve upon is lighting - it's used primarily for meetings and conferences, so there's not a lot of ambiant lighting. So it felt a bit stark when the lights were dimmed. I prefer the warmth that sconces and chandaliers offer.
