Reviews for Evention Design

We sued "wedding planner" Lisa Kidwell of Evention Design in Small Claims court and won. The judge agreed with us that she did not do the job as a wedding planner. The same day, another mother of the bride sued her and won.
In our court case, Lisa made outrageous remarks, such as sending out the invitations within 5 weeks of the wedding to out of town guests was "in the window of acceptable time" that is her way of blowing off why she was so late with getting the invitations out, although she had them for over a month. She presented falsified documents and now claims she cannot repay us.
She and her husband took $5000 of our money, can only legitimately account for $2000, missed giving out the deposits to two different photographers, the venue (we lost it 10 days before the event), and other places, but in her bank account has paid for her car $600+/monthly, $1000 for sprinkler system in her $500,000+ home, etc.
You hand your money over to her, if it is like it was for us and the other mom, Lisa can't refund it. You become an ATM for her.
Do you like stress? If not, save yourself and other bride-friends from anxiety and don't use her or her husband's company: Gourmet Fine Catering/Denver.

Do not use Lisa Kidwell as a wedding planner. She created unbelievable stress for our family.
She kept $5000 of our money which she is refusing to return. She did not give out the deposits to the vendors as she said she did (except for the DJ)/ We lost the original photographer whose work we loved because of her failing to pass along the deposit money in 5 months. Hear her tell it, it was because our wedding was too big for him (100 guests? 12 in the bridal party?) and then she tried to prevent us from contacting him to find out why.
Just some of Lisas blunders:
She was 3 months late with the Save-The-Date mailing, although she had all the mailing info within 1 week of us signing up with her in May. The only money she is out is for the printing and stamps.
She missed her own Nov 1st deadline to mail out the (ugly!!! hard-to-read!!)invitations (she designed), so after another 3 weeks of delay, the mother of the bride had to take over and within 3 days mailed out the invitations 1 month before the event (causing some of the guests to miss the cut-off for the cheaper rates at the hotel). She charged us $700 for the printing of 75 units and I have two printing estimates from reliable printers who would have charged about half that (one printer was laughing at her work and thought I was pranking him when I asked for an estimate to print these invitations exactly as they look).
The mothers of the bride and groom couldnt get Lisa to answer basic questions, such as When can we hold the wedding rehearsal, so we can set the time for the rehearsal dinner?
She was so unresponsive my daughter, from Iraq where she was deployed until two weeks before the wedding, wrote Lisa a letter expressing her disappointments with Lisas failure to do her duties with the deposits, answer basic questions, and so forth. As you know, any distractions while in a war zone can be a fatality.
We had more problems than this with her, but the final straw was when she gave us 10 days before the wedding a new invoice which was 25% higher than what we had agreed on in May--to be paid immediately, and we were to give her the gratuities, too, (as if we could trust her to pay them out--she hadn't given the deposits the vendors at the time she gave us the revised invoice). At this point she had $5000 more of our money. She jumped the invoice with new charges such as $200 Ceremony Fee, added servers, raised the prices on the center pieces to $350 (all she had to supply were votive candles and pine boughs), $825 of photo albums which had been part of the original photographers fee of $2300, and more. Much more.
We almost didn't get back part of our gift favors which my other daughter had mailed to her to include in the favor boxes (still unassembled 1 day before the wedding). Lisa flaked out on 3 previous meetings, which she set the time & place for the meetings, but didnt come, leaving us to cool our heels and not be with our guests. She had the most absurd excuses. Then was rude, rude, rude to us.
She will try to get you to use her husband's catering firm and it has an "F" rating with the Denver Better Business Bureau. Now she is trying to claim that she was afraid my husbandone of the most honorable men anyone will ever meetwas going to stiff her. And she is claiming she never was our wedding planner; only the Day of Event Coordinator--so why did she want to do our invitations and save the date cards?
No where has she justified why she is entitled to keep $5000 when she is only out the print costs and the fee to the DJ. She has invented phantom deposits that she cannot produce the paperwork to verify she made them in our behalf.
In the meantime, we are out other expenses, such as long distance calls when I had to hobble together a complete wedding, three states away, in two days. That is because Lisa had the owner of the venue Rocky Mountain College Art & Design cancel our wedding/reception when we informed Lisa that she would no longer be given our money and we will pay the caterer and venue directly. Would you trust her with any more money???? We had given her that much money because we thought she had been paying the deposits.
There are other bad reviews on her on the internet. It isn't just me that found her so-called service lousy.
I found out why.
We ended up with a different caterer and venue, truly, 5 days before the wedding, and our Plan B was marvelous. I am grateful that my daughter and son-in-law were agreeable people who just wanted to be married. Giving them a simple, stress-free wedding would have been an easy task. Lisa blew it.
About Evention Design
She was 3 months late with the Save-The-Date mailing, although she had all the mailing info within 1 week of us signing up with her in May. We gave her $2000 in deposit at the signing, which she was suppose to use to cover the print costs and deposits. We lost the first photographer, after 5 months of his growing tired of waiting for her to send him a deposit. She tried to keep us from contacting him to find out why he wasn't our photographer. She hired a photographer she had not used before, although Lisa claims to have been a wedding planner for 6 years--so why didn't she hire someone she had worked with before?
She missed her own Nov 1st deadline to mail out the (ugly!!! hard-to-read!!)invitations (she designed), so after another 3 weeks of delay, the mother of the bride had to take over and within 3 days mailed out the invitations 1 month before the event (causing some of the guests to miss the cut-off for the cheaper rates at the hotel).

Now Lisa has $5000 of our dollars which she is refusing to return. Another kicker? You have to use her husband's catering firm and it has an "F" rating with the Denver Better Business Bureau.
THere are other bad reviews on her on the internet. It isn't just me that found her so-called service lousy.
