"It was the wedding I always wanted!" Those were my daughter's words to me as she departed from her wedding reception. We could not have done this without Christie (Yerks) McGuire from Events in the City. Quality, Respnsiveness, Professionalism and Flexibility all perfect 5's but the Value was priceless. She got to know us and what was important to us. She helped us use our budget on the right things. We had a wedding that was beautiful and fun and very, very low stress. Christie is the best!

From the minute we met Megan, my daughter and I knew we found the perfect Wedding Planner. Megan has great knowledge, creativity, drive, and management skills. She helped us put a vision together from the beginning and keep us focused and on schedule. The day of the wedding she was invaluable. She handled all the vendors, kept everything on schedule, and catered to all our needs. We were totally "worry free" on the wedding day, which was priceless. My Daughter and I love and admire Megan, not only as a business women but as a friend.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Megan Pollard and Events in the City.

I work a lot and am typically on the road four days a week. I knew planning my wedding was going to be a challenge but it was important to me that I was a part of it and that the wedding reflected Ben and I. I took the approach in vendor selection that I would only work with vendors I knew or vendors that came highly recommended from friends. Megan Pollard came to me via a recommendation. I had already met with a few other planners -- I knew I was going to need some sort of partial planning package.

My mom and I met with Megan at a Starbucks on a Sunday morning (talk about flexible!). If the other planners I'd met with had been too hot or too cold, Megan was "just right". She has a calming presence and is clearly on top of her game. Based on my initial email inquiry (2 paragraphs), Megan showed up with a plan that reflected exactly what I needed (Dirty Martini Package with Design and Decor). Needless to say, we hired Megan on the spot.

Megan's help/input was invaluable in the following areas:

(1) Coordination: I must have sent Megan hundreds of emails. Work was very hectic in the months leading up to the wedding so a significant amount of my wedding planning was done after hours. Megan nicknamed me her "midnight bride". Megan responded to every single email I sent her within 24 hours, if not much sooner. Her responsiveness was huge. I asked her all sorts of questions (from wedding etiquette, to vendor recommendations, to what design I should use for the menus). She participated in our tasting with the caterer and the walkthrough (which was especially important because I couldn't be there!). The package also includes a master day-of itinerary including vendor contact information and venue floor plan. She also ran our entire rehearsal and filled in for the officiant who couldn't make it.

(2) Design: If I have ideas, Megan has vision. She was able to take the bits of pieces that Ben and I came up with and turn them into something real. Along with our caterer, Megan designed our table settings and even found this amazing table cloth from another vendor (that I would have never picked out on my own...it was gray and sparkly... and absolutely fabulous). She advised me on the random extras I needed for the reception (blankets and throw pillows for the outdoor furniture in our wedding colors, spare pashminas for our guests bc the weather was colder than we expected, etc) and provided advice on all the "paper" products (invites, menus, programs, escort cards, etc).

(3) Sanity: There is no bullet point for this on the contract but it was by far the biggest value that Megan added. I felt good with every decision we made all along the way. Everyone involved in the planning process (namely myself, Ben and my parents) expressed thanks throughout the process that Megan was there to help us.

(4) Execution: She makes things happen. When I arrived at the venue the day of my wedding, my jaw dropped. It was amazing (even though we had to tent everything at the last minute because of weather). The entire day was everything I expected times 10. Megan runs a tight ship (one of the other reviewers used the word "firm" which is entirely accurate). When the photographers wanted to take Ben and I on a quick expedition (in the rain, down a dirt road), she expressed her concerns about staying on schedule, dismissed my father to go enjoy himself, and then promptly ran to the parking lot to get her 4Runner to drive us down the hill. While we were taking pictures, Megan was on her cell with the caterer planning out how we would manage the delay.

I always wanted our family and friends to have an amazing time celebrating Ben and I's marriage. I never expected to receive so many compliments on how amazing the event was (especially since it was an outdoor wedding in 48 degrees and rain!). I had friends tell me that they wanted to copy my wedding exactly! I cannot even begin to acknowledge that compliment without giving credit to Megan and Events in the City. Thank you, Megan, for making our day so fabulous.

Both of us prefer smaller events but our parents have many close friends. This led us to have a 500 person reception with 3 ceremonies-a traditional western ceremony, a Chinese Tea ceremony and Thai water blessing. This obviously requires lots of planning and there are no wedding planners that have experience doing this type of wedding.

We luckily were referred to Events in The City and Megan is now our hero. We liked her as soon as we interviewed her. She is very organized, kept us calm and on task. We made many last second requests and she was always able to troubleshoot and accommodate whatever we asked. Our wedding was fantastic and even though neither of us wanted such a gigantic wedding, we had a great time and so did all of our guests. Thanks to Megan, everything went off without a hitch.

Due to the scale of our wedding, we also were able to meet Laura several times who assisted Megan and we love her too. No matter what type of wedding you envision having, we recommend Megan and Laura.

Megan did partial planning and day of coordinating for our wedding. Megan was AMAZING! She was great to bounce ideas off of and had great ideas to share with us. She was never far away when I needed her and I loved how she always had an eye out for something that might work with our wedding. She had great recommendations for vendors when we needed help finding someone. The day of the wedding I truly had nothing to worry about with her in control. I was actually very relaxed the whole day and I know that she helped me feel that way. She did an amazing job making sure everything was removed from the venue on time. Nothing was left behind and nothing was lost. I'm actually trying to think of a party to have just so I can work with Megan again. She's great!!!

Hiring Laura Ritchie and Events in the City was hands-down the best decision I made as a bride! From our very first meeting until wedding day, Laura was a wonder to work with. She is upbeat, creative, flexible, attentive to detail, and unfailingly responsive - she always responded to my (frequent!) calls, e-mails, and texts within 24 hours, and usually much sooner than that! I received so much care and attention that I often felt like I was Laura's only bride... and I know that wasn't true! Laura also provided awesome vendor recommendations - my florist, photographer, and cake baker were all out-of-this-world and I owe that entirely to her! I trusted Laura and her staff to handle all the details on my wedding day, and it definitely paid off! My husband and I were able to enjoy our wedding reception without worrying about a thing - we were on cloud nine the entire time! She even made sure we had drinks in our hands throughout the night. :) Our wedding guests raved about the work Laura and Events in the City did for our wedding. So many people told me that ours was the best wedding they'd ever been to! Laura truly goes above and beyond. Hire her and don't look back!

Five stars doesn't even begin to describe the level of professionalism, creativity, and coordination support I received from Laura of Events in the City. Laura was truly amazing - and we could not have pulled off our wedding weekend without her!

From the very start, Laura provided excellent counsel and guidance on all aspects of wedding planning. What is great about Laura is that she is so organized and on top of all the details, that you never feel like you are dropping the ball. She is always responsive by phone and email -- and keeps you on track of planning details. She has a great ability to keep things moving forward without feeling pushy. She makes you feel like you are making progress and you never feel overwhelmed.

For a busy bride who was not familiar with vendors in the D.C. area, Laura made finding the perfect team for my wedding day possible by providing recommendations for vendors from the photographers to the caterers to the music. All of her vendor suggestions were excellent, and by narrowing down the universe of choice out there, Laura made choosing vendors a much easier - even fun - process.

Laura is also a creative powerhouse with great ideas for everything. She loves all the details that really make a wedding special - from the straws for old-fashioned glass milk bottles, to the table numbers, to signs alerting guests to the ceremony area and the reception. She even designed an inviting outdoor seating area for my wedding with her own pillows from home. She will honestly stop at nothing to make your wedding perfect -- and her creativity and upbeat personality make you glad she is on your team in case you need a Plan B!

Laura was such a delight to work with and I would highly recommend her to any bride. From her accessibility, flexibility, vendor contacts, and creativity, Laura will not only execute your vision for your wedding, but well exceed your expectations. She's amazing!

We worked with Christie Yerks from Events in the City and I can't say enough great things about her!!!! We weren't sure if we needed a planner as my mom and I both had a lot of free time to plan the wedding but we were SO glad we hired her!! She thought of every single detail and had so many great ideas. We also consulted her with lots of very minute decisions and she was so responsive and helpful with it all. I think we hired her for day-of or month-of but she went above and beyond and I felt like we had a full-time planner. She is a joy to work with, very professional and experienced – she definitely knows what she is doing. All of my vendors enjoyed working with her too. I highly recommend her and Events in the City to anyone getting married in the DC area!!

Megan was AH-MAZ-ING! This review is long overdue mainly because I just can't put into words how fabulous Megan was! I would give her 10 stars if I could. She is creative, upbeat, reliable, detail-oriented, decisive, organized, and hands down the best decision I made during the whole wedding planning process. She is incredibly talented and worth every penny.

About 3 months before my wedding, I realized I needed some MAJOR help. I had been planning my wedding on my own and was completely overwhelmed. Stressed out, I contacted Megan who was able to meet with me the NEXT day. She showed up to our meeting with her IPad in hand. I was beyond speechless when I realized that within 24 hours, she had already prepared an inspiration board for me that included color scheme, linen suggestions, decorations for the reception, flower ideas, and even what color tux the groomsmen should wear! I was shocked. We had never met in person and she had put together the wedding I never knew I wanted. I work in fashion and I will never forget her comment..... "Think of your reception like an outfit, you want everything to go together but you don't want to be too matchy matchy". Yes! I knew right then we would be a perfect match.

On several occasions, Megan went personal shopping for me to get items needed to create our special day. Her vendor recommendations were fantastic, I loved every vendor she suggested. She kept me on track with a to-do list and took on several tasks herself. She was flexible and worked around my crazy work schedule. Because of Megan, I had the wedding of my dreams. During the whole process I felt like I was her only bride (which I know was not the case). She responded to all my emails and phone calls immediately. Megan was always calm and always had a solution to any problem.

I was completely relaxed the day of the wedding. I was able to enjoy spending the day with my bridesmaids and family. It was the best feeling ever.

Our reception was held in a large ballroom but I didn't want the space to look like a ballroom. Megan took care of every last detail. My jaw literally dropped when I saw what she had put together. Unbelievable! Our guests were impressed as well. They raved about the space and many said that our wedding was the best they had ever been to. Our wedding was PERFECT thanks to Megan!

I would recommend Events in the City to any bride-to-be. I promise they are worth it!

I'm not sure a review can fully convey how amazing Laura Ritchie at Events in the City is but I'll do my best. She is the most professional, personable, punctual, organized, knowledgeable, RESPONSIVE, motivated and likable person you'll ever work with. I don't think my vocabulary can come up with enough positive words to describe her. She's truly an incredible person on top of being the best in the business of wedding planning. It's quite clear that she loves what she does and it showed on our wedding day.

We are both transplants from other parts of the country so we wouldn't have known where to start without working with Laura. Her cost is very fair and once we signed the contract, we realized that she was more than willing to go above and beyond to make sure our wedding went perfectly.

All we did was tell her our venue, the number of people, and a approximate budget and she took it from there. She gauged our personalities perfectly and gave us her idea for a wedding design/theme. It blew us away... It was exactly what we had dreamed of and she nailed it.

Every vendor she sent us to seemed to be the perfect match for our wedding theme. They were all super professional, friendly, and, frankly, exciting to work with. Each was willing to go the extra mile to make us happy... and Laura knew they would.

Laura's incredible responsiveness can be summed up in this anecdote, and it's no exaggeration. We asked her a question via email one day knowing full well that she was going to give birth in the coming days. It turns out she had just given birth and she emailed us ONE HOUR AFTERWARDS. We know she has a lot of clients but it's moments like that when we felt not only like her only client, but part of her family.

The wedding day was perfect. All we had to do is show up, smile for pictures and have fun. We'd recommend Laura and Event in the City to anyone whether you're local or not. She's the best.

Megan..Megan...Megan! Our wedding was only 2 days ago and she did a wonderful job. I wasn't worried about a single thing and it felt great not to have to worry about confirming vendors and keeping people on time and not knowing about the behind the scenes work. We had last minute changes in the guest count that she was very flexible in helping us with keeping it all going smoothly with bumping up linen orders and working with the florist...our decor was breath taking and we are receiving nothing but great compliments...my hubby called her our David Tutera...can't blame him! thanks so much for an unforgettable journey!! :)

I worked with Christie Yerks from Events in the City and she was fabulous! She helped with day of services but went far beyond that. My wedding was perfect and a huge part of that was because Christie was there. I was actually stress free the week of the wedding because i knew Christie was taking care of everything. The venue was set up perfectly when I arrived and she helped from everything to dealing with stress, a broken bussle on my wedding dress, ensuring I ate my meal :), and making sure every aspect of the wedding was flawless. I highly recommend her and Events in the City!

I have known Megan and Laura for years so when it came time to planning my wedding having them be a part of it was a given. I was searching for the perfect venue when Laura stepped in and said she knew the perfect place for me and my husband … and she was right!I would have never found the venue if it wasn't for her. During the planning process I would call or e-mail Megan and Laura and get opinions on linens,colors and set-up. A few days before the wedding I got an eye infection and I was in tears until I talked to Megan. She quickly calmed me down and asked me what was on my to do list and what she could help with so I could focus on getting better. The day of the wedding Laura and Megan were nothing short of amazing. I think my Mom thanked them every 5 minutes. It was raining on and off throughout the wedding day and the ceremony was moved inside. The set-up needed to change and instead of bothering me they were able to tell the staff what to do and how to set-up everything to make it look perfect.

I was extremely calm, happy and excited on my wedding day and I owe that to Laura and Megan. I knew I was in such good hands and if anything needed to change or if anyone had any questions they would take care of it. If you want to enjoy your wedding day and not stress hire Events in the City -you won't regret it!

I had the pleasure of having Christie of Events in the City as my wedding planner. She was that calming effect that every bride needs- especially the day of the wedding. Her optimism and organization was such a huge part in helping me stay on track. Even when last minute things came up that caused me stress she was so flexible in making every little thing work out and insisted it was nothing to worry about. The day of the wedding I gave her boxes and boxes of decorations and things I had bought along the way, with no real idea of how to put it all together. When I arrived to the reception site after the ceremony it was the first time all day that I was truly speechless- I could not believe how amazing she made everything look- it was like she read my mind and took every single thing I had envisioned and put it all together more beautifully and tastefully than I could have ever imagined

Megan from Events in the City made my wedding day so easy. My mother and I did not have to worry about a thing. She was able to help me with many decisions that I needed guidance on before the wedding but the day of was the most priceless thing to me. I appreciated all of her help and know that my day would not have been the same for me or my family without her. My wedding was beautiful and she made sure everything went so smooth. My groom and I went back and forth on whether we needed a day of coordinator for our small wedding of 70 people. But oh my gosh I am so glad we got one. Megan Pollard from Events in the City was fantastic. Out of all the vendors I worked with for the wedding, she was the only one I had the most confidence in and did not have to worry about. Her professionalism, responsiveness, and quality of service was topnotch. I didn't have to worry about anything the day of the wedding which made the day so much more enjoyable. My bridesmaids and guests were all very impressed by her services. I do not know what I would have done without her and I am telling everyone I know, if you get married in Northern Virginia you need to call Megan:)

Laura and the whole Events in the City team really made our day amazing. Their personalized service catered to our unique themed wedding amazingly and we honestly couldn't have asked for more. It is seriously a small price to pay to keep things running smooth... think of it as an insurance policy to make sure your day goes perfectly.

Laura pretty much recommended every single one of our vendors, and each one came through without a hitch. That's a testament to her vast knowledge of great vendors that can work within your budget without sacrificing value or service standards. She made us feel like we had absolutely nothing to worry about on our wedding day except getting married.... as it should be.

Perfect execution, we'd get married every year if it meant getting to work with Events in the City... Problem is, we're too perfect for eachother to ever get divorced!

Laura is AMAZING, extremely creative, a great communicator, and a fabulous person. She is a true professional who is great at her job. She is very patient and is able to be flexible when dealing with all the last minute details and emotional rollercoaster a bride goes through!

To say that Laura Ritchie, Events in the City, is an incredibly creative, kind, spunky, AMAZINGLY ORGANIZED wedding planner is an understatement. If that doesn't say enough... throughout the journey of planning our wedding, she became a part of the family.

Laura's amazing network throughout the DC and NOVA area made it incredibly easy to find vendors that I could work with and could trust to make my wedding beautiful. At every detail, Laura offered sound advice that led to a unique style to make our wedding timeless, elegant, but freaking awesome all at the same time.

Laura was on top of everything... if I had a question about anything, she was a phone call away with a wealth of information.

On the day of the wedding, Laura took care of everything. I was able to drink mimosas, spend time with my bridesmaids and family, and I had complete trust in her that everything would come together... and it did.

From the bottom of my heart, I would not change a thing about my wedding day and a huge thanks goes out to Laura Ritchie and Events in the City DC. THEY ARE INCREDIBLE!

Laura Porto Ritchie, Events in the City (DC) co-founder, was born to be a wedding planner, literally. I know that because as family friends, we met the day
she was born. From the time she began talking and walking, her path was clear; designer/planner extraordinare!

So not to appear biased, it’s worth mentioning that my family relocated to Texas when Laura was young, and our paths have not crossed much since then; until last year, when again they converged.

It was no surprise that Laura was a successful planner, but it was serendipitous that my daughter, Katie, was being married in Virginia, not Texas! Laura and Megan were the most incredible wedding planners we could have asked for! We first knew Laura through her work at R&R Catering and were so impressed with her that we knew she would do an amazing job helping us to plan the wedding. She was immediately responsive with all questions and concerns, and brought so much energy and creativity to the planning process. I wish I could bottle her energy! We got to meet Megan at a meeting with the caterer and she also was so good at knowing what would fit our style and hopes for the reception. You can tell that Laura and Megan work really well together.

Through Events in the City, we were introduced to other amazing vendors, like Timmester Photography, BrookHill Florist, Sage String Quartet, Faces by Haley, and A La Carte Limousine - all were incredible.

Laura and Megan helped to design the most beautiful wedding for us. I must admit, during the planning process, I was unsure of how the overall look would turn out, but they were so confident and excited, and of course, it was absolutely stunning. We have received nothing but glowing compliments about how great everything looked, how well it ran, and how awesome Megan and Laura were at getting things done. So many people have expressed that our wedding was the BEST wedding they had ever been to. Many people also commented that the wedding looked like it came out of a magazine. Everyone, including us, was so blown away by how amazing it looked, and how every little detail was thought out.

As I'm sure many brides can relate, the whole wedding planning process was stressful for me, especially before Laura and Megan came into the picture to help, but on our wedding day I was so calm, relaxed and happy, nothing could have fazed me knowing that the two of them were taking care of everything. And they did just that. They were so on top of everything, we didn't need to worry about a single thing. If something did go wrong, we had absolutely no idea. They were just amazing, and they made our day the most wonderful day possible. Hiring them as our wedding coordinators was truly the best decision we made.

Megan was in charge of our event and she was simply incredible. If I ever asked her any questions about protocol or any vendors before the wedding she always got back to me within a day, and usually within the hour. I was planning mostly from out of town and it really helped having someone in the DC area to help. Megan made me feel comfortable with the entire process, and she had such great taste so I totally trusted her judgment.

As far as the wedding day itself, it couldn't have gone more smoothly. Megan was always there to tell us where we were needed. She made sure that everything was on schedule and that we got time to get all of the pictures we wanted. The day went by in such a blur, I have no idea how we would have managed without Megan's direction!

Laura Ritchie and Megan Pollard did an absolutely wonderful job as "Day of Coordinators" for my wedding. My wedding venue required a great deal of coordination. We had a vendor for everything - from shuttle service to rented bathrooms, from tenting to catering. In the days leading up to my wedding they had everything under control and were completely prepared for the day. Thanks to them my mom and I were able to relax and enjoy my wedding day with our family and friends. They were extremely professional but added a personal touch to everything. I would highly recommend them as Day of Coordinators.

Laura was awesome and easily one of the best vendors we worked with on our wedding. She was full of wonderful ideas and made so many little details possible for our wedding - details that we never would have been able to pull off (or even think of!) on our own. We were able to relax on our wedding day and not have to worry about who was going to take care of making sure everything was taken care of. In addition, Laura was extremely responsive in the months leading up to our wedding, and was always happy to answer questions or bounce around ideas.

Laura was my Day of Coordinator for my wedding on 9/25/10. I couldn't have been happier with her services. To start, she was always available to bounces ideas around and she will always respond to your emails the same day. When our officiant canceled our rehearsal, she stepped in and performed it herself. And she did a lot of things that you might not think about. For instance, before she left the reception she loaded my dad's car with our wedding gifts so that we wouldn't have to even think about it at the end of the night.

Overall, Laura was awesome - she was pleasant to deal with, professional, and extremely helpful with everything.

Words just cannot express how awesome the ladies of Events in the City are! Laura Ritchie helped me coordinate and design my reception...her eye for design and detail are impeccable! The colors and textures that she put together were simply amazing! Her partner, Megan Pollard helped coordinate the ceremony and she was great-- her calm and easygoing demeanor helped put all my bridal attendants at ease and everything went perfectly on the day of. Hiring a day of coordinator was one of the best decisions I made in our planning and Events in the City did not disappoint!

I used Events in the City for their day-of coordinator services. They provided that and so much more. I initially communicated with Megan Pollard, one of the founders, and then was assigned the amazing Christie for the event itself. From the first email exchange to the last minute of the wedding reception, they did a fantastic job. They both attended our walkthrough at the venue, offered ideas and suggestions for the reception in the final weeks (thanks to them we ended up with the perfect cupcake towers for our reception and they came up with a fun idea for lighting the stage at our venue), and confirmed with all the vendors the week of the event. After booking the basic package I added a couple of additional tasks which they added with no problem at a very reasonable per hour cost.

Our coordinator, Christie was professional, low key, and on top of every detail - if anything went wrong, I didn't know about it! I would wholeheartedly recommend using Events in the City to anyone looking for a planner.

Megan provided an execellent wedding coordinating service for us. I couldn't have asked for a better coordinator. She was reliable, responsive, and very much on top of things. She also offered great suggestions whenever I needed. She took care of the table number displays for us and it was a creative one. We hired Megan from Events in the City DC for full coordination and it was the best decision that we made! Megan was great to work with. We knew from the beginning that her professionalism combined with her great sense of design was exactly what we were looking for. She responded promptly to all of my emails and answered all of our questions throughout the planning process; but most importantly she kept me on task and gave me a sense of ease. Megan had great relationships with our vendors and asked them the questions that I didn't even think of to ensure that everything would run smoothly on our day. She was able to understand our vision for the wedding and gave us so many great ideas and suggestions. It was absolutely amazing how she was able to take our vision and turn it into something spectacular. On the day of the wedding Megan coordinated everything from the set up to the tear down so that we could relax and enjoy the day. I could go on and on about how fantastic Megan is, but the truth is that our day would not have been what it was without her!

I don't know where to begin. Laura was a god send. She made everything easier for me, which I know at times must not have been easy for her! Her expertise and her eye for style made our daughter's wedding day & reception something to truly remember. She transformed a old, worn out room into a room that we could be proud to invite our guests into. It was just amazing. She handled any and all of the little bumps in the road that occured with a high degree of professionalism. I just really can't say thank you enough. I know in the the future that if I or any other friend of mine was in need of her services that I would not hesitate to call her. Events in the City was thoroughly professional, prepared, and responsive at all times. Our planner, Laura, was amazing! She had all of the information we needed (including contacts with great vendors), perfectly coordinated the rehearsal, provided a detailed itinerary of the day's events, and stayed at the site the entire day of the wedding itself, not leaving until the last detail had been attended to. She was also highly responsive to cost savings when we needed it. This wedding could not have been better, largely due to the planning, attention to detail, and overall professionalism of Events in the City. I recommend them without reservation!

The best decision my fiancé and I made in planning our wedding is choosing to work with Laura from Events in the City. She was so helpful with all aspects of the wedding. We were unsure about many of the smaller details we wanted for our day, and Laura had so many ideas from awesome white Miami themed furniture rental to lily pads and floating candles in the pool. Her vision is truly inspired and unique. Laura not only helped us figure out exactly what we wanted our day to look like, but also found us great deals that allowed us to come in under budget! She was beyond flexible with us. We felt comfortable calling her any time we had a question, even if it was as silly as how to address the save the date envelopes. She knows how important this day is in a couple’s life together and goes above and beyond to make it as special and perfect as possible!!! We definitely recommend Events in the City!

Hiring Megan from Events in the City was the best wedding investment we made. She was fantastic to work with and helped keep everything from vendors, to timing, to family members, in line for our big day. On top of her stellar organization skills for the wedding itself, she helped us create a really beautiful wedding 'look' by understanding our taste and then searching for ideas for flower arrangements, table settings, programs, place cards, and other accents to achieve what we wanted. She responded to every question we had immediately (including how various things worked, including the rehearsal dinner) and went FAR ABOVE the duties in her contract. Working with Megan was like having the best wedding planner/mother of the bride/maid of honor rolled into one. She is fantastic.

Megan from Events in the City embodies the phrase "above and beyond." She was contracted to have one sit down meeting with us and be there on the day of the wedding -- but she responded to dozen of emails and g-chats at all hours and helped us make some critical aesthetic decisions in the final few weeks. As a couple, we had firm opinions on some things and could not make up our minds about others, so it was a huge help to have an expert to call upon.

Megan was both friendly and firm. Friendly so that she was a joy to work with. Firm so that she could play 'bad cop', if needed, to our vendors so we didn't have to. (In fact, she helped us coordinate everything so well that she didn't really have to play that role.)

As the groom, the biggest thing I cared about was my bride being calm on the big day, and Megan's presence, more than anything else, helped my now-wife relax and enjoy the moment. That's priceless.

Laura Ritchie, with Events in the City, is a bride's dream. She is professional, creative, highly organized, energetic, caring, fun, kind, incredibly responsive, and really knows the wedding business inside and out.

Laura served as our “day of” wedding coordinator. But as part of the package, she consulted on design ideas, shared her vendor contacts and much more. We think we got the best end of the deal. For months she was available to steer us in the right direction. She answers questions within minutes and her advice was always right on. She never steered us wrong.

Best of all Laura LISTENS. She understands it is not her wedding. She takes great pride in her work and is there to help you make your wedding dreams a reality. She calms you down when the jitters hit and you are just certain you picked the wrong shade of purple and must start all over. She takes you seriously and does not minimize "silly concerns or questions."

Laura is totally in your corner and she is the perfect person to have in your wedding corner! As a young woman, and recently married herself, she totally gets what a big day this is in your life. She makes you feel she is working on only one wedding - yours.

Laura is amazingly organized which is so important for a wedding coordinator. She simply does not forget any details. We forgot details. And she is wonderful under pressure. A few glitches happened the day of the wedding, as they will in any wedding. Laura took care of everything so we could totally enjoy the day. She figured out a solution and did what needed to be done to make all right without bothering us. It occurred to us we hardly saw her that day. Yet she and her wonderful assistant were there in the background making sure the entire day was beautiful.

Before the wedding Laura contacted all the vendors and took charge. She gave everyone a schedule of events broken down almost by the minute. This turned out to be invaluable. Every vendor knew where to be, when to be there and how everything would go together. We realized late in the game a wedding is a bit of a production. It can go free-form or it can go smoothly with no surprises and no disappointments. There is no do-over with the wedding ceremony and reception, so you do want to get it right the first time through. Laura made sure we got it right the first time and beautifully right.

Laura managed the rehearsal, and the entire day of the wedding, along with her assistant. Without her, the wedding would have been chaotic. We would not have had a clue what we were doing. A week or so before the wedding your brain seems to depart and go on holiday!

Thanks to Laura, all her wonderful ideas, and fantastic execution of our ideas, the wedding was truly magical – a stress-free, happy, wondrous day for the entire bridal party, their families and guests.

Laurie Ritchie was wonderful! Professional, funny, enthusiastic and upbeat! We had our wedding at Breaux Vineyards--a venue that Laura is very familiar with. We hired her as our day of coordinator, and she conducted our rehearsal. She gave great advice (linens, place cards, the itinerary, etc.) and was extremely responsive every single time I contacted her (which was A LOT by the end!). I always received a reply to my emails within 24 hours, and usually even quicker than that. I appreciated all of her suggestions, and she was never too pushy. As for the day of the wedding, she was fabulous! I didn't feel like I had to worry about anything, as she was on top of it. I absolutely recommend her!

Laura is simply amazing. She is the most friendly and upbeat person I have ever worked with!! She did all she could to make our day the most special for us and it worked more than we could ever imagine! Everything was so wonderful and fantastic. I have been told over and over and over again how wonderful and beautiful the event was. It was definitely a whirlwind of a day and I have her to thank for making sure we knew what we were supposed to be doing. :) Laura was a fantastic friend and coordinator and I recommend you to anyone!!!

Laura Ritchie is truly amazing! We found her through R&R Catering - she's doing the design for everything associated to the catering. We also decided to use her for Day of Coordination. She has been great and is so responsive to every question I have, every change I want and anything I need. She's made great suggestions for the little things - party favors, place cards and holders, color schemes, etc. She also has a great list of vendors that she recommends. For all big aspects of the wedding, we are using someone that Laura recommended because we loved the vendor and their services after meeting with them. In addition, every person we've met with that Laura recommended had nothing but great things to say about her from working with her over the years.

Laura definitely didn’t disappoint on the day of the wedding – she was truly amazing! She was disappointed with the linens we selected once they arrived two days before the wedding. She set everything up to make sure it looked okay – and even though I told her I trusted her judgment, she insisted that new linens be sent overnight. We planned to have our ceremony outside, but the weather was iffy. Laura gave me several options on what we could do if it rained and she had things arranged so that we could make the call at the last minute if it started to rain. Unfortunately – it did rain and we had to have the ceremony inside, but Laura had everything under control and reacted to the change of plans with ease. I was so relaxed my entire wedding because I knew Laura had everything under control. She was there for anything and everything that I needed. Laura was such a big part of our special day and I couldn’t have done it without her. I’d recommend Laura to anyone – both as part of R&R catering but more importantly, as a wedding coordinator to assist with everything to make your wedding day the day you want it to be! We can’t thank Laura enough!

Laura Ritchie and Events in the City are a bride's dream! I booked Laura about 18 months before my wedding for day of coordination. Throughout that entire time she was incredibly responsive and organized. She truly makes you feel like you are the only bride that she is working with. She totally got my style and would come up with awesome ideas too. A few days before the wedding, I got really anxious and Laura took care of everything (making sure that all the vendors had what they needed, knew where they needed to be, etc). It was such a relief to know that Laura was handling it because I could really really trust her. On the day of the wedding, Laura coordinated everything and kept us on schedule. Laura handled all the vendors and made sure all of my details and DIY projects were set up perfectly. She honestly set everything up better then I could have (and I'm a perfectionist). If there were any problems with set up or the vendors, I never heard about them. Laura also packed up my parent's car and made sure we got everything back that we needed (toasting flutes, gifts, etc). My parents and I were able to leave when the guests did and not worry about running around at the end of the night. Laura allowed my family and myself to just relax on the wedding day and have fun. Booking Laura was one of the best decisions I made in wedding planning. She kept me completely sane and relaxed from start to finish and I can't thank her enough for making our day perfect.

Laura Ritchie and her assistance Sarah helped prepare a perfect day for us. She took our vision for our outdoor wedding and brought it to life. I never worried that she would produce something different than we wanted. Rather, she produced what we wanted and so much more. She took care of everything that I couldn't even think of worrying about, and took all of my calls and emails with a smile. She was available for every worry and double checking that I had, and ensured that all I had to worry about was having a blast. They were terrific in organizing our wedding party and all 6 of the kids involved. She even helped with them during the reception. She planned the schedule of our day to the last minute, which I loved, and stuck to it! I cannot say enough great things about her other than not only would I never look for any other event planner, but also that I am thrilled to have made a new friend in the process.

Laura Ritchie was the most important vendor of our wedding. My parents were hesistant at first, but hiring her as our " Day of " wedding coordinator was the smartest thing I did. I had my heart set on having our wedding ceremony outdoors (it was the main reason we picked the venue), but it POURED the entire day and evening. There was no way it was going to be outside. But, she was so patient with me during the morning leading up to the wedding, waiting to make the "indoor vs outdoor call" until the last second. I will always be greatful. She moved everything inside quickly and it was beautiful and perfect...I will probably never know how much work she and the staff had to do to switch everything indoors. My wedding day was stress free due to the fact that she handled every bump in the road and I was none the wiser.
I believe, one thing that makes Laura unique is that she anticipates anything that can possibly go wrong and has a solution before the situation arises. In addition, I have never met someone, not even my best friend or husband, that responds to email or a phone call so quickly. It is fantastic!! I always felt like she was available to help me with the details leading up to the big day. She came out the day before the wedding to go over details with me and my wedding party....a natural leader who got everyone in line to do what they needed to do for the big day.

My fiancé (now husband) had the pleasure of working with Laura for my fall 2009 wedding. From the moment we met with her we knew we were in good hands. This is particularly important to us because we live out of the area and wanted to make sure we had someone local who could help us handle some of the details. Throughout the process Laura was extremely prompt with responses and excellent at giving advice. She has a way of making you feel like you are her only client and it was nice to feel that our big day was receiving the attention we wanted. The day of the wedding everything went off seamlessly. We still receive complements on how beautiful and thoughtful our wedding was. I would highly recommend Laura for any bride to be!

I cannot say enough great things about Events in the City and my wedding coordinator, Laura! She was just great. I tend to be very indecisive and she quickly picked up on what my vision was for the big day and helped me to execute it perfectly. She was there every step of the way- giving me advice about linens, table settings, limo companies- anything! Best of all- she really understood the budget I was working with and didn't try to push me to do anything that I couldn't afford.

My parents loved her and could not stop talking about how great it was to have her there on the day of the wedding. Every time they went to make sure something was running on time or to see what was going on in the reception- Laura was already on top of it. She even said "go have fun at the wedding, this is why I'm here!" They were so relieved that everything was perfect.

I would recommend Laura and Events in the City to anyone looking for an attentive, creative and knowledgable approach to wedding planning!

Words can not begin to express my gratitude for the fabulous job Laura Ritchie did with planning my wedding! She was responsive to my e-mails and phone calls throughout the entire 12 month wedding planning process. Her recommendations for photographers, ceremony musicians, florist, and DJ were spot on with the vision I had for my wedding- resulting in the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to, and the most fun! From the get-go, I was drawn to her bubbly personality and felt she was just as excited as I was for my wedding. When my bridal bouquet was missing, she offered a calm and quick remedy to the problem by suggesting she make one out of an existing floral arrangement. She solved all the problems that arose the big day before I even realized there was an issue! I can honestly say that I was relaxed and enjoyed my wedding to the fullest. Laura rocks!

Laura Ritchie is the utmost in responsive - a necessity for a bride like myself who was juggling work and school. I used her for Day Of coordination, and was faced with the ultimate nightmare of a day-long downpour for an outdoor wedding. Despite Mother Nature's fury and the need to shuffle things around last minute, I look back on that day as if there were not a cloud in the sky. The logistics were forgotten by me thanks to Laura taking care of everything, and I spent the entire day enjoying being with my new husband, my family and friends. I still get compliments today of how wonderful and special the day was...

As a photographer, I so appreciate having someone (besides me!) making sure the wedding day details are spectacular and that everything runs on time. From my perspective, it's a night and day difference between a wedding with and without a coordinator. Just because your venue has a coordinator does not mean they will take care of all the details for you or lend a hand where needed. Quite often they are there to ensure the tables are set and dinner is served and not much more. For beautiful pictures you need to be stress free and able to enjoy the day with your family and friends, and for this to happen someone else must be in charge. Hiring a coordinator should be high on the list of wedding planning tasks!
