Reviews for Fairmont Hotel

I went here for my high school prom and it was very elegant. It's perfect for hotel weddings. However, like most hotel catering, it's not exactly the best.

We had our ceremony at the Fairmont San Francisco's Crown Room. The view up there is, I feel, the best in the City. If you've ever been to the Top of the Mark, it is essentially the same view, and the Crown Room takes up a whole floor so you have a 270 degree view of the City, Bay, Golden Gate, etc. from the dance floor. The food was fantastic and our catering manager was very professional. I would have it again there in a second.

Ok so I'm biased because this is where we're getting married and having our reception, but I have to say, this is a gorgeous hotel! There's so much history and character to it and the various ballrooms are unique. Our ceremony is on the Rooftop Garden, cocktail hour will be in the Fountain Room (I preferred this indoor/outdoor room to the Pavilion Room, plus I thought the Pavilion Room carpet was heinous.), reception in the Crown Room. We could not resist the CR. There's a 270 degree view of the bay area and it's just breathtaking. A total experience for all guests, especially the out-of-towners.
So far the staff has been good, Jamie and Al are really nice. I'll update if needed!

I wrote a harsher review on Yelp, but my feelings about the service at this hotel are the same. Basically the catering department is great, the hotel is not. A few things that went wrong:
1) Overbooked rooms- my bridal party had to stay at another hotel across the way 2) Wrong bridal suite given and then not corrected because the rooms were overbooked (I got a barely larger size room, no mints or welcome messages for the new couple. The room actually had nasty stains on the curtains and scratched up furniture) 3) Incorrect in-room service orders with a subsequent rude response after I had called in the correction. 4) No attempts to rectify the mistakes or the poor service except for another stay (when available) at the actual bridal suite promised--- why the heck would I want to come back here? My whole experience here was tainted. 5)And finally, the required audio visual company couldn't even get the slideshow to work properly...they didn't do much of a good job in even doing a dry run. By the time they did (with the help of the band!) my guests had seen the slideshow run through a couple times with no sound. Overall, I have had far better service in other 4 star hotels. You rarely get a "do you need any help, sir/madam?" or "anything else I can do for you?"

A very classy and upscale place! I went to a very large wedding in the Venetian Room and was a bit underwhelmed. The room was very dark and did not feel very "light or airy" as the brochure claims. Perhaps with uplighting it would have been better.
The food was not that memorable. I think that with the huge (~200) number of guests it's kind of difficult to keep the quality of food very high.
The Fairmont offers many other ballrooms, and I hear that the Crown Room is especially lovely. It's located on the top floor with an awe-inspiring view of the city.
I worked on several weddings at the Fairmont Hotel. For being such a large hotel it was very easy to get in and get to work. It was a pleasure and a priveledge to work at such a beautiful historic hotel. If I had a larger budget when I got married I would have loved to have had my wedding here!
Just a lovely reception site. Lavish and elegant.
Beautiful, elegant, FANTASTIC!
