Description of Fine Caterings by Russell Morin
Fine Catering by Russell Morin is committed to redefining and adapting our services in order to give every event the special touch it needs to exceed expectations. So whether it is a wedding at one of the famed Newport mansions, a prestigious gala or a corporate picnic, Fine Catering by Russell Morin is here to create memorable events.
HISTORY
Fine Catering by Russell Morin is a proud part of a Morin’s Diners Inc. – a family owned business since 1911. The current generations grandfather J.B. Morin started the business as a 24 seat diner located in front of a four story jewelry manufacturing company in Attleboro, Massachusetts. The family had to pitch in even then as Mrs. Morin cooked entrees and baked pies at their home 2 blocks away to be brought to the diner fresh daily.
Oddly enough, the Morin family’s first ventures into catering came at this small diner. The jewelry workers in the factory above would lower pails down their windows with their lunch order for it to be filled and pulled back up. Folklore has it the term “lunch-pail” origin coincided with the Morin family’s entry into the catering business.
The popularity of the diner led to the opening of another in the early 30’s and in the 40’s upon his return from overseas Ralph R. Morin expanded the diner into off-premise catering as well. The business continued to grow and Ralph expanded his kitchens through the purchase of a nearby building. This expanded kitchen and the contribution of the current owners, R. Russell Morin and William Morin, made taking control of the food-service at three local country-clubs possible. It was during this time Russell and William developed their passion for the business that led each of them to the Cornell University Hotel School and back to help further and carry on their family’s legacy.
What started humbly as a small diner in 1911 offering Chicken Pie and Banana Fritters is proudly in it’s 4th generation with revered offerings such as Lobster Crusted Halibut with Lemon buerre blanc one item on a never ending list of creative salad, entrées and dessert offerings.
Aside from Catering, Morin's handles all of the event planning necessary for a truly unique and seamless event. They can create customized menus to reflect your style and taste, or transform a space into a festive or elegant affair. They have established amazing resources for linen and place settings, adding that extra flair to make your event stand out. The event coordinator will review the details with your other vendors to ensure a flawless experience for you and your guests.
Included in your event plan and proposal will be an experienced event coordinator. From your initial interview and throughout the process of planning your event, your coordinator will serve as both your liaison with our culinary staff, as well as assisting you to the degree you may require with any support services and vendors you may choose to work with. We've planned a lot of events since 1911 and have learned that the event is so much more than just perfect food and an elegant presentation. It is a collaborative effort with YOU to make sure that your vision for your special day is a total reflection of your personal style and tastes.
