Q: Why am I finding such a wide range of prices from DJ services? A: No two DJ services are the same. When you call or email for pricing, all you are getting is a price quote. Unless you see the equipment, lighting, and DJ talent, you will really have no way of being sure what you are paying for. It is hard to determine value and compare companies if you don’t see what a service has to offer. One other reason may be the number of events a service does on any given date. We have limited the number of events we do so we can offer higher quality equipment, lighting, DJ talent, and personal customer service to our clients. We allow you to custom create your event package. For example, if you call bridal gown shops for price, you will get a range of prices. Those values are determined by fabric type, workmanship, beading, and overall customer service. Until you shop in person you can’t really compare anything.Q: How do I find out more about the DJ services I’m considering?A: That varies from one service to another. Some will offer a video of other parties they have done or a website to browse. We offer a full live studio demonstration with the actual sound equipment and lighting that will be used for your reception. We demonstrate a variety of options in lighting and we have something for everyone. A personal visit to see us will give you an overall view of everything, so that you can make real comparisons. Check to see if a service displays their equipment, lighting, and DJ talent otherwise you won’t know what you are agreeing to. You also cannot get a true sound demonstration through those options. You may want to ask for a follow up visit to check it out in person.Q: Can we select the music that will be played?A: We welcome your choices and will be happy to play what you want. There are usually a variety of ages to please and we have music for all available. Many clients will choose some of their favorites and leave room for guest requests. If you are uncertain about the music, you can also just leave it up to our professionals, and they will play to the crowd accordingly.Q: I have been to some weddings and didn’t like how the DJ interacted. Can I decide how much the DJ does?A: Yes, and your DJ service should be able to honor your choice. People ask for a range of involvement levels from conservative to really outgoing. Our professionals can interact on any level that you wish. Remember when you see DJ’s at receptions, they may be interacting as they have been asked to, but that may not be what you want for your event. Q: Will the DJ make announcements or act as emcee for the evening?A: Our professionals will make any necessary announcements and keep your guests informed throughout the event. We can coordinate with you, or your planner, to make sure announcements are made as needed. Some necessary announcements may be but are not limited to: Request to be seated for dinner, announcing the prayer or toasts, the cake cutting, introduction of the bridal party, bride and groom first dance, father-daughter/mother-son dances, wedding party dedication, dollar dance, bouquet toss, garter toss, other novelties, and anything else through “last call”. Our professionals will be flexible to your changing needs throughout the event.Q: Do you have an unlimited time option package?A: We offer many time options to accommodate reception needs. Because our DJ entertainers are trained professionals, it would be inappropriate for us to ask them to play for unlimited time without compensation. Most services would find it hard to keep qualified people working for them, if they asked their people to work unlimited hours for the same pay. We will customize any time package to fit your event, and will be fair and reasonable with our cost.Q: Do you offer ceremony music?A: We do many ceremonies in many different locations. Our packages are based on either time only, or full coverage options depending upon your needs. A personal meeting to discuss your needs can be done in person or by phone.Shopping for DJ services is a lot like buying a weddding dress. Try calling a bridal shop and ask what they charge for a wedding dress. The price will vary considerably and the only way to note value is to try the dress on and see how it fits. Would you ever have a wedding gown delivered at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon to wear down the isle at 2pm, without trying it on first? Of course, you wouldn't.. Would you call a DJ service and have them deliver a sound system (and an unknown Dj) at 5pm on a Saturday evening, to perform at 6pm without knowing what will arrive. I would recommend an in studio demonstration and meeting of all services to be rendered, not just a "coffee meeting".Have these presented to you at your time of your meeting: Can you choose your DJ from those available or, is he/she chosen for you? Who is the entertainer and how much experience does he/she have? Can you see them actually working at a wedding reception, either live or by DVD? What does the equipment sound like? What does the equipment look like? What kind of lighting and how is it controlled? Can you choose your lighting or is it selected for you? What are your options for music? Ask them to play some of your favorite songs and see how readily available the selections are. When is the balance payment due? Avoid the pre pay policies. Is gratuity manditory? Avoid the manditory gratuities?
