Ed and Sue were absolutely wonderful! They kept the entire wedding party on track the entire day, from before the ceremony, during the ceremony, during the reception and even after the older guests had left so we could continue the celebration. We received many great comments from our guests on the unique ideas they brought to our wedding and reception. One guest even requested their contact information and hired them for her daughter's wedding. I would definitely recommend First Day Entertainment for all your music and wedding planning needs.

I guarantee you, theirs won't be the lowest quote you receive. You just can't get this kind of consistent quality for a budget price. They are simply the best on the central Gulf Coast. FAQ for First Day Entertainment

What is your usual attire?
Tuxedo unless specified otherwise.
Do you offer live sample performances or CDs?
No. Each performance is unique in and of itself for our clients.
How much time do you usually need for setup?
We are onsite 3 hours before if doing a reception and ceremony. 2 hours if reception or ceremony only.
How much space do you usually require?
We normally ask for 10x10, but can set up in less - depending on the equipment requirements and specifics for the location.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
We don't charge travel within 100 miles of Pensacola. Travel beyond that area is based on the distance, time required to be there, etc. All of that is built into the final price quoted for our services.
What music genres are in your collection?
50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, Acoustic, Big Band, Classic Rock, Classical, Country, Dance, Folk, Funk, Gospel, Hip Hop, Jazz, Motown, Oldies, Orchestra, Pop, Punk Rock, R&B, Rock, Soul, Strings, Swing, World
Do you have liability insurance?
Yes
Describe your DJ style:
Creative - designed to embrace the personality, cultural, and familial elements you wish to bring to your wedding.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
No. You may request as much as you wish.
What is your usual attire?
Our attire is determined by the level of formality dictated by your event. Most events we wear a tuxedo, but we have a variety of other attire - from casual to formal available.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
No. Except in rare cases where the song is not available publicly, we do NOT require you provide us with ANY music. We prefer to obtain the music ourselves so you don't have anything else to worry about.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We collaborate with the top DJ's across the US, Canada, UK, New Zealand, and Australia. However, when you hire First Day Entertainment you will get Ed and Sue Spencer.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
We don't have a limit for how little time we will DJ for someone.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
We typically insist upon it. For destination weddings, we talk by phone. Making sure we're a good fit for your event is important to us, and it should be to you.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
We have performed for a variety of ethnic and international events - and given proper time to plan, we can accommodate most any ethical or cultural request.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
Yes. And you may put as much music on it as you like.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes. We require only power for most events, and in some cases, we don't even require that.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We offer a wide variety of services. It's best to let your imagination run wild and just ask. If we can't make it happen, we'll do our best to help you find someone who we can work with so it can.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We prefer to be onsite 3 hours before a reception/ceremony combination and 2 hours before a reception or ceremony only. We do this so we can insure that if there is any issue it is addressed before you and your guests arrive.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
No. We ask for a 5x8 area, but can perform in less if we know in advance. We work very hard to meet the limitations of the location and still provide the best possible experience for you and your guests.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
No. With the exception of charity events we don't use a banner or signage of any kind. Even our business cards are out of sight.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
Yes, we have spent considerable time training to perform as a Master of Ceremonies. Something that is rather rare in the DJ industry. However, we do NOT typically talk between songs unless absolutely necessary.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
There are a variety of ways to motivate a crowd and it's always best to determine this on a case by case basis. Please feel free to discuss this with us when you call.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
We do not take breaks, and do not require that you provide us a meal. If you DO wish to provide us a meal, we ask that it be packaged so we may take it with us. We prefer to maintain our focus on the performance and your reception.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
We don't take any breaks so this isn't an issue. However, if you opt to use both our services and those of a band, we can fill in during the band's breaks.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
We have never missed an event. In the event that we were hospitalized, we can reach out to our network of DJ's to find a highly trained replacement. Keep in mind, this means our guarantee kicks in - we refund you 100% AND pay for the replacement DJ we send.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
No. And for certain extremely complex events we may block out 2-3 days before to insure the best possible performance for you.
What is your overtime rate?
We don't charge overtime. EVER.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
Travel expenses are calculated on a case by case basis. However, there are no travel charges within 100 miles of Pensacola, Florida.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
We typically ask for a 50% deposit to secure our services, but we have offered alternative financial arrangements when necessary to meet your financial limitations.

Do you provide any additional services?

We can either provide, or make recommendations on most any service you can imagine. We've helped couples find cigar rollers, unique venues, and many other services. We can provide some additional services like lighting design, and we help with the onsite communication between your wedding team to insure the success of your wedding.



What is the one question every bride should ask her vendors?

What can you do to make my wedding a success? And once they've answered - tell them to prove it. To provide client contact infomation, video, photos and other proof.



What is the most important thing to remember when hiring vendors?

Every company will give you a list of questions to ask. But you should dig deeper and alwasy think about WHY they're telling you to ask these question. NEVER be afraid to ask even more questions and find out the differences between the various wedding professionals you're considering.
