Fish-i Weddings

Sigh. I have literally never written a bad review, but I really feel compelled to write my first now. We chose Fish-i to do our wedding video based on positive online reviews and a good financial value. From the first contact with Jason, his emails struck me as casual to the point of unprofessional, but I hoped that his work would be different. On the wedding day, I had no complaints - the videographers were mostly out of sight. We didn't regret our choice to work with Fish-i until we saw the first draft of our 35 min highlight video. The video looked like an amateur compilation of footage, focusing mostly on the photo shoot prior to the wedding and leaving out key portions of our ceremony, toasts and reception.*

I asked for lots of revisions, and Fish-i grudgingly agreed to make them. However, the second version was barely better - containing duplicate and cut-off shots, incomprehensibly low sound during toasts, strange selections of unflattering footage (i.e. a woman's behind for 10-15 seconds), while leaving out some of the best footage of family and friends (as we discovered once we viewed the raw footage DVDs) from the ceremony and reception. I asked for more revisions to try to get the video to a watch-able state. Many of the revisions were made, but the so-called "final" version is still very disappointing. I plan to find someone to work with the raw footage to make a new video, since even our most complimentary family members have noted that the video looks quite "unprofessional" and "amateur."

Make sure you know what you're getting before you decide to work with Fish-i. Read the contract very carefully, because they will later tell you that it is limited to "2 soundtracks" (for 35 minutes!) and will tell you that fixing their own mistakes goes beyond the scope of the contract. To be fair, Fish-i did not charge me anything additional for additional revisions - but, had I known what the final product would look like, I would have found another videographer.

*Only when viewing the video, did I discover that the videographers left 1.5 hrs before the end of our wedding, missing several friends' meaningful toasts and our sparkler exit. Had they mentioned they were leaving, we would have asked them to stay, and offered to pay extra - but, they didn't tell anyone they were leaving. As a result, the end of our wedding video is constructed out of photos, defeating the point of hiring a videographer.

Fish-I Design & Video were wonderful to work with from start to finish. At the beginning they took the time to get to know a little of our personal taste; and on that day, they captured great and memorable footage of both our ceremony and reception that we would treasure for the rest of our lives. Through out the entire production phase of the video, we were able to view different drafts and provide our opinions. This was great because it ensured that the finish product would be exactly what we wanted. Hiring Fish-I Design & Video for the most important day of our lives was a great idea and we will continue to use them for any other future events.

Finding videographers for our wedding started out as a frustrating experience. We were given lots of excuses about why they didn't use hd (the technology isn't ready, really?) or why it would cost us 2x as much if they did use it. Others tried to impress us with dvd menus or cheesy graphics. Enter Jason & Arik. They were straightforward, honest, and most importantly, professional. Jason made it a point to follow-up with us at several points during our planning process and reached out to our photographer to introduce himself. They made it a point to be unobtrusive during the wedding, yet managed to get all the important shots and even show off a few dance moves. We got our first preview of footage three days after the wedding! I really couldn't be more pleased with the experience.

Jason and Eric are excellent to work with. Very professional, accomodating, enthusiastic and creative!!! We are so so happy to have chosen Fish-I Design & Video as our videographer.

Fish-i was the BEST wedding vendor that we used!! These guys are cool, professional and are soooo good at what they do!! Our video was perfect and everything that we wanted. The thing that was so amazing and what our guests later told us was that you didn't even know that they were there filming!! Some videographers are in everyone's face and totally obnoxious, not these guys and they still got the best shots!! They created an amazing product and were also totally fun to work with!!!
