NONA, NONA, NONA!

Few people are truly rock stars at what they do, and Nona falls into this category. When my husband I first met with her to discuss flowers for our wedding, we brought in some photos from the net of initial ideas we had, and she expanded upon them further with beautiful suggestions.

Because we would be standing in front of large windows for the ceremony, she talked us out of using an arch in front of it because a structure in front of a structure would look jarring. Instead, she suggested that they tie kiwi vine and flowers around the windows to frame us! I was BLOWN AWAY when I saw them at the ceremony site!

And I don't even know how to get started about our bouquets. Let's just say, the moment I saw them, I screamed, "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME! OH EM GEE!" (in a positive manner, of course.) My bouquet had gardenias, which smelled absolutely divine for days afterward. I really need to find a good photo of it to put up, but please have a look at the photos I've uploaded of the kiwi vines and bridesmaids' bouquets.

You know from previous reviewers that she is reasonable with her prices, and she even talked me out of getting flowers for our reception since it took place at a Chinese restaurant and everyone would take them off their lazy susans anyway.

Nona surprised me - her designs were so fabulous! The coverings she designed to hide some mirrors looked so lovely and really created the tropical atmosphere I wanted. My bouquet wasn't quite like the picture I gave her, but no matter, it grew on me throughout the night. She was very nice in that I didn't really have centerpieces - I only ordered some orchids and palm leaves to decorate our hotel's floating candles so I was able to decorate 20 tables for only $90 - and she didn't express any prejudice. Plus, she was accommodating in that I added an aisle runner about a week and a half before the wedding. I really appreciated everything she did and the flowers made a huge difference in making everything looked so tropical.

Nona was amazing from the start. In order to get a better feel of what I was looking for she pulled up a picture of my wedding dress and talked me out of getting a very colorful bouquet because it would have overpowered my dress since it had beading in it. She was so right, everything was exactly how she explained. I wasn't sure what flowers just knew I wanted purple and for the colors to be soft and compliment and not overpower. She gave me exactly that. I loved the bouquets, boutineers and corsages.

I've known Nona for several years now and attended several weddings where she was the florist. I am always impressed with the pieces she creates. From the bouquets, altar pieces, pew decorations to table centerpieces -- her designs are beautiful, artistic, refreshing and customized for the bride and groom. Some florists carbon copy weddings and after awhile, it becomes overdone. With Nona's work, you can see the quality and know it's from Nona but it doesn't look or feel like something she created without care.

Her pieces lasted throughout the day (even the super toasty Bay Area ones).

I am looking forward to having Nona's creations for my wedding.

Nona and her staff are awesome! They will work within your budget to give you the look you want. I loved my bridal bouquet and LOVED the floral arch which I received lots of compliments on. She is good about recommending ways to cut costs such as where to buy cheap glass vases (Ikea) and what time of the year you can get certain flowers at lower costs.
