For Heavens Cake

My name is Faith and I got married March 10th 2012. I have to say that I am not a avid reviewer, but in this case i felt it necessary as I can't show enough gratitude to "For Heavens Cake" especially the Owner Rick and his Wife. I am from Houston but Live in London with my English Husband. Living in England has left me stranded in the wedding Vendor Department. Booking a wedding is hard enough, but try doing it thousands of miles away! I never read any reviews from this Bakery beforehand, I just stumbled on it through theknot.com. I found their website was incredibly helpful and Ricks Response was almost instant. You would be surprised how many Cake Websites do not even list flavors on their websites. After weeks of blind searching online I booked a ticket to Houston to meet with 4 of the leading Cake Bakers in Houston. No where did I get the service that Rick gave me. He used to do Graphic Design so he was very helpful in my cake. I wanted a three tier cake that had the silhouette of the Houston Skyline, and London Skyline. When I showed him my sketches he noticed that the Houston one was outdated! ATTENTION TO DETAIL!!!!
Right then I knew he was the only man for the job. I put my complete trust in Rick and his wife. The Cake was delivered on time and the price was fair! They do everything by themselves so no worrying that a sub vendor might get lost or drop your cake! I absolutely cried when I saw my cake. He made what could have been easily been made to look like a children's Birthday cake into a Elegant piece of art art for my wedding!

I believe all these bad reviews are just written by Bridezillas! I asked Rick about them and he had no problem explaining each and every problem and how it was rectified.

The Taste! Oh My Goodness I'm not even a fan of cake and I could not stop eating it! We had Top Tier Amaretto with Amaretto Icing. 2nd Tier Butter Cake with Cheesecake Frosting, Bottom Tier. Bridal White with Cream Cheese Icing. The Amaretto did not stand a chance that was the first to go, along with the Cheesecake. We ordered way to much and I had the idea to put to go boxes on the cake stand. WHAT A GOOD IDEA! Every Guest took home 5-6 slices!! At the Morning after breakfast everyone skipped the bacon and eggs and went straight for the Cake!!! My Husband ate 5 Slices before 11am! Another Must know about this bakery is that the Fondant is made by Rick. and OH MY GOODNESS It's the first time I have liked Fondant! It taste like buttercream. No one peeled it off! He is also amazing at making buttercream look like Fondant! It was soooo smooth you could never tell it was buttercream!

I'm leaving some not so good reviews for other vendors but I can not in good conscience say one bad thing about this bakery. The showroom is beautiful, the cakes are amazing, the price is fair and the Owners are kind. Rick will pull over in his truck to talk to you when you are having a Freak out!

For Heavens Cake was the perfect baker for our wedding! They were able to do multi flavors like we wanted and the grooms cake was astonishingly beautiful! We got the best compliments on our cakes for the presentation and especially the taste!!! we liked them so much we used them for our bridal shower and will use them for future events for sure!

As with all of our vendors, we invested significant effort in selecting our wedding cake for our big day. We poured through reviews, narrowed the field down to 3 shops, and went on a mission to taste as much of their cakes as possible. Without hesitation, we hired For Heaven's Cake for their personal attention to our needs, their reasonably priced options, their creativity in customizing cakes to reflect our personality, and finally for the taste/freshness of their cake. As expected, Rick & Ana of For Heaven's Cake did not disappoint! The cake showed up at the venue right on time, looked spectacular and tasted even better! We wholeheartedly recommend them!

I highly recommend For Heaven's Cake, Rick was very responsive from the 1st meeting, cake tasting, via email, etc. Our cake arrived right on time, was decorated just how we wanted, tasted great, we received lots of compliments on it.

They did amazing! They went above and beyond with what I told them I wanted and the cake was sooo great and yummy!

Amazing, amazing, amazing...and did I say amazing? Our cakes were beautiful, fresh, and done exactly to our specifications. Meeting with the vendor was super easy, and convenient since we live close by.

At our initial tasting, they had several samples available to try, and we were able to choose the one we liked the most. My husband was also able to select a groom's cake design that TOTALLY reflected his personality.

On the day of the wedding, when we had our first bite of cake, we both were so pleased at the quality of the cakes. They tasted even better than our initial tasting!

Kudos to both Rick and Ana, and we would not hesitate to use their services in the future!

Rick Ballard was so easy to work with and was one of my favorite vendors for my daughter's wedding this past June. Rick traveled to a location in our area of town to discuss cake details. He brought samples for us to taste. He made notes of details that we requested on the cake. His prices are budget friendly. He would quickly respond to all of my emails and the cake arrived in time and looked beautiful and tasted wonderful. What more can you ask for!

We ordered 8 2-tiered cakes to be used as the centerpieces for each of our tables. We designed the cakes ourselves and they delivered the cakes and set them up to our specifications. Not only were they exactly what we envisioned but the taste was beyond delicious! It was a pleasure working with them and they were very accommodating!

I changed my cake from what I originally asked for and it came out just perfect! I highly recommend For Heavens Cake.

For Heavens Cake did our grooms cake for our wedding in October and it came out GREAT! I wanted to surprise my husband with a TN Titans helmet cake and it seriously looked EXACTLY like the helmet. It was SO realistic and the cake... omg the cake was top notch. They were very polite, had no issues at all, very organized and very talented. Recommend to everyone! A+!!

For Heavens Cake did my wedding cake and grooms cake. They are professional, responsive, flexible & everything you look for in a wedding cake vendor. They made two exceptional cakes for me and I strongly recommend them to anyone.

For Heavens Cake was wonderful. THey called, set up a meeting, we met with them and picked out a cake and was DONE!! This was by far the easiest vendor we met with throughout the entire wedding process. I had so many compliments on how wonderful not only the way it looked but how good they were! I had many pictures taken of the grooms cake becuase it was a ice chest with a trout hanging out! Everyone got a kick out of that since my husband is a big fisher. I just want to thank For Heavens Cake for making my cake decisions so easy. They gave us exactly what we wanted and they were at the venue looking un-touched! Would def. recommend them to ANYONE!!! Rick did an amazing job on our cakes. They looked exactly like what we ask for and tasted amazing!! Everyone at the wedding said the cake tasted and looked wonderful! Lots of compliments!

Overall they did a good job for me. they gave me what i asked for using only my ideas and my requests and a pic of my wedding dress. they did the best they could with what i gave them. i should have been given some feedback on the final touches of my cake...But the Groom's cake was fabulous!! My husband wanted a 1965 mustang gt red with stripes. and that's what he got!!! Great job.

We won a two tiered cake at a bridal show. They were so friendly and attentive to our wants, even though we did not have to pay for the cake. To our pleasant surprise, the cake tasted delicious and showed creativity for the Alice and Wonderland feel we wanted. Thank you again!

For Heaven's cakes was amazing, My fiance and I canceled an order with our original baker because of unprofessionalism. I contacted Rick when I found him on the knot and and he gave me a quote through email on what I descrided to him I wanted. My Husband and I made an appointment to meet with Rick at his store front location and were amazed by the cake displays as soon as we walked in. Rick was amazing we got taste tests on flavors that we requested. I decided to switch the cake I wanted and brought him a picture of the groom cake and the Wedding cake. I chose a 3 tier wedding cake with the bottom tier being chocolate with FRESH strawberry filling and the top 2 teirs being white cake with a rasberry filling. the grooms cake had extreme detail and was a red velvet cake with cream cheese filling and chocolate icing.

When the cakes were delivered to the reception, my bridesmaids went and took a picture of them for me to see, they were perfect they matched the picture exactly to the tuxedo chocolate covered strawberries on the Groom's cake.

Everyone was dying to taste the cakes when they saw them. The flavors were amazing!!!! the chocolate with fresh strawberry filling was absolutely to die for!! Rick did an amazing job.

I was completely and totaly impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of For Heaven's Cakes. I recieved gourmet cakes for my wedding at reasonable prices. If you want good cake at a good price and the quality to go along with that then i suggest you use For Heaven's Cakes they were amazing!!

For heavens cake did our engagment party and wedding cakes. I was amazed at the detail and time put into the cake. They are very flexible considering i changed my mind like 3 times and are very helpful. I was 100% satisfied with their services they provided for us. And if that werent enough the cakes were delicious!

My husband and I ordered a grooms cake from For Heaven's Cake. The cost is much cheaper than other area bakeries. The staff was very responsive, polite and caring throughout the whole planning process. I heard great things about our Red Velvet / Cream Cheese selection (though I never got to sample the cake!) We were a bit disappointed with the overall design of our cake however. We requested a 3D armadillo, and the end product looked more like a huge oval cake with a head & claws stuck in on dowell rods. That said, we had a separate vendor for our bridal cake that we could not get out of contract for - but were able to select For Heaven's Cake for the grooms cake at the very least. I made the decision because of how rude the other vendor was, and I do not regret this decision. For Heaven's Cake's service made up for the overall quality of design, and I'd just suggest better communication on your wants/needs before hand... ictures/sketches, etc. so that expectations are met. The quality of cake in terms of cake was excellent (so I hear).

The cake was amazing. I do have to say they called me a lot because they did not right down my order correctly but besides that it was great!

The wedding cake was extremely moist and fresh. We could tell that it baked fresh and not frozen which was important. We chose a three tier cake and it was absolutely stunning! We were not at all disappointed.

They did our bridal cake and groom's cake. Groom's cake looked great! My bridal cake looked good, but the design is not exactly what I expected. (I even provided a picture prior to our wedding date) The taste was great as well on both.

We worked with Rick and Anna, and I don't regret it one bit. They do not have a store front and met us in Starbucks around town. I'm sure this keeps their costs down. They were really easy to work with. The cake tasted good. I'm not sure it was great. It was good, but to be honest, I don't really like cake in general. They were very flexible and would make anything we asked for. We selected a design from their portfolio but tried some new fillings.

My favorite part of working with them was their communication. Three days before the wedding the special filling we requested could no longer be found, and they called me to choose a substitution. My husband was miffed about it, but I really didn't care. The day before the wedding they called again to confirm everything was all set. I loved that they stayed in touch and were proactive. They did not take up a lot of my time. They got to the point and solved problems. It is exactly what you want when you are three days from getting married. They are solidly professional.

I see the other reviews are more "eh". I should say that we almost didn't have a cake. We just didn't care. Our design was simple. White with dots, a ribbon. I had a great topper that was the real decor. Their price was the best. If these are your same criteria for a cake, then this is your place. If you ever uddered "dream cake" then maybe not. For what I paid, I think it was great. In looking at the photos no one said anything about the cake looking bad, though no one said it looked good. People did think it tasted nice, again good, not great.

Rick and Ana were a very loving couple with great vision. They were very excited to do our wedding and groom's cake and they agreed to all of our requests for swirls and sports logo. On the day our cakes arrived, they were less than fantastic. My cake was the wrong color and the grooms cake was not even close to the sketch drawn out at our meeting, we were really disappointed. I wish they would have not over booked their weekend, so they could have spent a little more time making our only wedding cake/groom's cake much more presentable.

I met with this man and his wife for a cake tasting and their cakes were great. I looked at all their pictures and were amazed at their talent. They were the cheapest company around so I hired them for my wedding. I showed them a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like and they said no problem, they could make an exact replica of the cake. I show up at my reception and was mortified!! My cake was LIME green instead of a sea foam green, the tiers were noticeably crooked and uneven, the satin ribbon around each layer was falling off and didn't even connect in the back. The chocolate flowers atop the cake were off centered and hideous!! This cake looked NOTHING like my picture. After we got back from the honeymoon I contacted them and told them that I wanted a refund on my wedding cake. He agreed and I got the refund. His excuse was that you can't compare a fondant cake to butter cream and "what do you expect when you're dealing with July heat". I was appalled!! I asked all these questions at the cake tasting and none of them posed to be a problem at that time. I have had photo books made of all my wedding pictures and didn't even put a single picture of the cake in any of them because I was so embarassed and disgusted with how it looked.

This is a husband and wife couple who work from their home, the wife doesn't even speak English. This company misrepresented themselves and their company. They showed me a picture album of cakes to get ideas from claiming they were cakes that they had made when they weren't. They were other cake bakers' images. The two designs I chose for my cake from their picture album did not look anything like the ones on the cake they actually delivered. The tiers of the cake were supposed to have ribbon tied around them with a bow to the side, the ribbons were cut in pieces and wrapped around and were falling off as opposed to just putting one long string of ribbon around it. Oh yeah and the cake was cracked and tilted when they delivered it and was almost on its side when I arrived to the reception! On the groom's cake, the colors were wrong and the design was nothing like what we duscussed. All of the colors on both cakes were bleeding and running together, everything was a total disaster. They had all the designs and colors on the contract that they gave us and still couldn't get it right. Please don't trust them with your dream wedding cake because you will be severely disappointed. I am now working on getting a refund, we will see if they call us back!

I met with them and they were very nice and professional. I gave them a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like with a few minor changes. They were very confident that they could make a replica of the cake in the picture, I had no worries. When I showed up to my reception and saw the cake on my cake table, lets just say i was crushed. I didn't let it bother me that night but the cake was hideous, the tiers were not level, the ribbon around the tiers didn't even meet up in the back of the cake and was extremly crooked. The roses on the top of the cake were off centered and tiny, nothing like the picture I showed them. I contacted them as soon as I got back from my honeymoon and demanded a refund and he did agree to give me a refund. I explained the differences in the cakes and he said "well, it's really hard to compare fondant with butter cream" and "well,when you're dealing with July heat." There is no way that these people made the cakes in the books they show you. My cake was a disaster and I am warning EVERYONE against using them for your cake.

We chose For Heavens Cake in April 2011 for our wedding cake and we warn you from making the same mistake. We met in person with Rick (owner) twice and finalized all details on how we wanted the cake decorated exactly one week before our wedding. When we entered our reception, we were horrified to find the cake was nothing like we had specified in our written contract. The color, flowers and design were all incorrect, it was as if we received the wrong cake. When calling Rick afterwards, he blatantly lied and said we changed the order 2 days before the wedding. Why would we change the order so soon before our wedding to a design that didn’t match the rest of our decorations? We filed a small claims suit and got a refund from Rick. Search for reviews (Yelp and projectwedding.com) on this place, and you will find we are not the only people who had this problem (I wish we saw these reviews before making our decision). DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE BUSINESSMAN!!

We met with Rick & he kept getting the name of the couple wrong, he got the name of the venue wrong, & he wrote down the wrong date. Two hours before the ceremony we found out that the cake was not even at the hall. We were promised that it would only take four hours to bake one & have it there on time. At the time of the reception the table for the cake was empty, the photographer was not able to take proper pictures. The cake finally arrived at 10:45 p.m. the photographer was leaving at 11:00 p.m. We have our pictures of the setting up of the cake. The pillars are crooked, some of decor that he put on there is falling off. We picked out a certain set up out of his portfolio, he said he could do that for us & that was not fulfilled. The icing was whipped & we asked for buttercream. We did not even keep the traditional cake top because it was not what we asked for. We asked for a refund of the cake, Rick said they are not willing to budge on that. In our opinion this was handled very unprofessional.

The owner of this company is named Rick. When we set up the tasting he seemed very professional and able to make the custom cake I asked for. I will say that the samples of cake given to taste were very small and should be alittle larger for couples. I paid my deposit and left their store very excited about my wedding cake. Two days prior to my wedding Rick called to double check my order and to ask about the shade of PINK. I told him watermelon was the shade of PINK that was my color. My wedding day arrived and I was not able to see the cake until after it had been delivered. For of all it was coral and a very very ugly coral at that. Then half an hour after being delivered the top layer of the cake fell off. I had a topys tervy cake each layer was not the same and was not straight. Even though I was told they could make the cake I ordered it was not the case. There was not a person near the cake it was sitting alone on the dinning room table awaiting the reception and it fell. I was not told anything of the cakes problems till after the ceremony. When I finally saw the cake I wanted to cry. It was horriable. After returning from my honeymoon I contacted Rick and he was very very UNPROFESSIONAL. He said it was not their fault the cake fell and the color was exactly what I had said. He googled the color and that was what his computer came up with. When I told he needed to refund some of my money he stopped talking to me. BEWARE THESE PEOPLE ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND CARLESS. He never refunded me anything and never spoke to me after I told him how unprofessional he was.

DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME. RUN FROM THEM AND TELL ALL THE BRIDES YOU KNOW NOT TO USE THEM.

Delivered the wrong cake and won't work with us for a refund.

I wasn't told until my wedding day, after the cakes were made and delivered, that Rick has never worked with navy blue fondant before. He also failed to test it out before making my cake, and then tells me it is not his fault that it turned out aqua. Very unprofessional, I am surprised he is still in business. I want to save other girls from what I went through.

I officiated a wedding in June where For Heaven's Cakes provided the Bride's and Groom's cakes. They did a fantastic job. The sister of the groom was also celebrating her birthday on the same day and I was really impressed with the small birthday cake they provided in the shape of a grand piano. They were very professional on their set up and the cake presentations were great.
