11/08/2008

Harvey wong was very nice and helpful, he was very responsive and responded extremly quickly to all emails sent as well as had recomendations for rainy weather , he even ronded back his hours that he was there , we were there 40min late to the ceremony he was there 40 minutes early, the only recomendation is to have a list of pictures you want and somone to make sure there is somone to keep track of what has been taken already

About forever's moments

I’m a digital photographer easing into the profession available for weddings, commitment ceremonies and other social events in and around the San Francisco/East Bay Area.

I take the pictures, edit them to optimize color and exposure (or erase a crasher), put them on a CD, and give them to you to print and use as you choose.

Ideal if you don’t want to pay extra for prints, negatives, packages, or albums. Also perfect for smaller or limited-budget celebrations, and informal occasions and gatherings.

For more information and to view my work, please visit my website at http://wongpix.com.

About me:

Although I have been active in photography for over 20 years, I have only recently adopted it as a true profession. So, I have been a professional photographer for five+ years, and an amateur photographer for 20+ years. I’m not sure what that means, except that I used to do it for free for friends and now I’m charging for it for strangers. However, the quality and care are the same. I treat every event as if it was my best friend’s wedding. I guess that’s what one could call the personal touch, and I guess that’s what I provide.

P.S. I think my work speaks for itself; I prefer not to impose on my clients by soliciting reviews and endorsements from them. That’s just the way I do business. If you require reviews and/or endorsements, my apologies. I can provide references if they are important to you.

FAQ for forever's moments

What primary photographic style do you identify with?
Photojournalism
What do your packages include?
Digital Files, High Resolution Images, Proof CD of All Images
Do you have liability insurance?
No
Do you offer special techniques such as hand-coloring or toning?
Sorry, nothing fancy.
Do you have experience shooting in various lighting situations?
General indoor and outdoor lighting.
Is your media preference film or digital?
Digital only.
How many photographers do you work with?
Normally just myself, although I can contract with associates.
Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?
Absolutely.
Do you sometimes book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?
Rarely, but in any case never to the detriment of an assignment.
Do you have a replacement photographer in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
Yes.
What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?
Camera, flash, lenses, tripods, stepladder, Swiss Army knife (you never know).
Do you bring back-up equipment to the event in case of malfunction?
Yes.
Do you charge hourly or full day?
Hourly.
Are you available to shoot extra hours? If yes, how much do you charge for extra hours?
As long as I do not have another assignment scheduled, I am available for shooting overtime (or undertime, for that matter) at the same hourly rate. If you decide after five hours you don't need me for the full six hours, that's it; the clock stops.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Maybe 1 or 2.
Do you charge for travel?
Not unless it involves more than an hour one-way; then there would be an additional charge of $25/hr. (prorated).
How soon after the event are the proofs ready for viewing?
2-3 weeks.
In what format are the initial proofs offered?
CD and website.
How long can the client keep the proofs?
They're yours.
Do you retain the copyright for the photos?
We share the copyrights; you and I are both freely able to use the photos in any way we choose.
Do you reserve the right to publish the photos?
We both have equal rights in publishing the photos.
Do you provide the digital files and/or negatives (or copies of the negatives) to the client?
That's what I do.
Will images be available for viewing online?
Not only available for viewing, available for downloading.
What kind of albums do you offer?
THAT I don't normally do.
When will the client get the final album?
Digital photos will be available in 2-3 weeks.
Additional Advice
My quote includes a CD of all the photos I take, which I have edited to optimize color and contrast, and saved as high-resolution JPEGs. You can see the image quality from the albums on my website. (These are not samples; they’re the full assignments.) As with those jobs, I will also make the photos of your wedding available on my website for family and friends to be able to freely view and download.

I prefer not to deal with prints and to just let you handle that part yourselves. If you insist, I can provide prints, and will simply charge you whatever it costs me to get them printed at Costco (my preferred photo lab) plus a 10% handling charge.

I normally don’t charge for travel time unless the location is more than an hour’s drive away. (I’m based in San Leandro.)

What else can I tell you? I’m easy to work with, adore kids and animals, have a good sense of humor, and don’t panic if things go wrong. I’m friendly and patient, but will take charge when I need to.

It's a good idea if you have a list of "must-have" shots written down, so we can just check them off as we go along. Also, since I work alone, it would help if you assigned me an "assistant": someone who won't be in most of the formal shots, but who can identify people and help in organizing and rounding up people for group shots. It's a big relief if there's someone I can turn to other than the two of you, since you'll be busy with other matters. It's not essential, but it will take a load off your shoulders. Remember, don't try to do it all yourselves; DELEGATE.

Regardless of whether you pick me or someone else, that is the most important thing I can tell you: let people help you. To be honest with you, I just got married myself recently, and I was originally just going to do it all myself (including taking the pictures!). Fortunately, as the day approached I realized I couldn't multi-task my own wedding, and asked several family members if they could help; and it would not have gone off if not for them. So don't be afraid to ask for help from your friends and family; indeed, seek them out and recruit them. That's the one best piece of advice I can give you.
