Fort Washington Florist
Fort Washington Florist provided all my floral needs for my wedding on May 17, 2013. Though not near my church or venue (Saint Benedic'ts in the Bronx and Greentree Country Club in New Rochelle,) I decided to use this vendor following a recommendation from a close friend. All I can say is, everything was absolutely gorgeous-- my bouquet was stunning in its simple elegance, and my guests are still calling me a week later to let me know how beautiful my table centerpieces were and how they are still doing well and looking beautiful in their homes (we had the guests take their centerpieces home). Betty was so helpful and accommodating, I really couldn't have asked for more. One example: I forgot to provide her with a vase for the memorial table flowers a week before the wedding, and instead of asking me to take the trip down to bring it to her during that crazy week before the wedding, she actually picked it up from me at my place of employment! I can't recommend Fort Washington highly enough for the beauty of their work, the freshness of their flowers, and for the courtesy and professionalism of the staff.
I would have given them a 5 out of 5 starts but we did have some hiccups in the end. But first let me begin with what I loved...
The shop owner Betty~ so adorable! I walked in asking for some craziness that I coudln't explain and she was able to show me immediately what I had in mind. She assembled a centerpiece for me within minutes and it was exactly what I wanted.
The price quotes are amazing. Hard to find lower prices! I had beautiful tall, large white calla lillies, with willow branches and small calla bouquet. Also the vases for the centerpieces were large (and included in price).
The flowers were absolutely gorgeous and everyone who took home a centerpiece said the Calla Lillies lasted so long!
Here are the hiccups...
I has asked for 2 tall vases with willow branches to serve as my stands for the alter. Instead I got a larger version of my centerpieces (which did include a few willow branches). I wasn't thrilled with not getting exactly what I asked for. But I will say the arrangements were beautiful and may have cost more than what I had paid. In the end it turned out well.
My other issue came when Betty called me the morning of my wedding (as I'm getting dressed) to say there was a miscommuniation that led to an argument with someone at my venue. It was about flower set up~ which in the end resolved itself. My only issue is that I had to hear about it so the whole morning I was anxious and had my poor groom making phone calls to figure things out. I didn't have a wedding planner and perhaps that's where I went wrong. But either way, her call to keep me abreast of the situation but it actually did more harm than good.
Aside from these 2 issues I thought they were absolutely fantastic!
The place to go if you're having a wedding in northern Manhattan. Betty is a very experienced and professional florist who takes great pride in making sure every order that leaves her place is perfect. Expect good value, no-frills service - this is a neighborhood place with a committed regular clientele, not a designer boutique. Betty is warm and friendly, but also a no-nonsense businesswoman - hesitant brides-to-be will be steered towards roses and hydrangeas, so it's best to come with pictures and a clear vision of exactly what you want. Once your plan is agreed, Betty will make sure you get exactly that - on time, to budget, and not a petal out of place.
Betty is the greatess. My flowers were amazing. She came highly recommended and I would surely use her again.
Mrs. Betty and Her team made the flowers for my wedding and they were just beautiful. My bouquet was big and beautiful and my bridesmaids loved theirs. Brides it's very affordable and she will make you very happy
Betty is the owner and is extremely nice and super reasonable. I had beautiful centerpieces and bouquets for myself and the girls. I was a bit disappointed not to have the hanging candles that I had requested 3 months before the wedding and not having the flowers for my cake, but she did an amazing job with everything else and gave such a great deal that I will still recommend her and use her for any future events.
My Matron of Honor recommended Betty for my wedding based on her past experiences working with her on a number of work events. When I spoke with Betty on the phone for the first time, she was extremely friendly and this continued during our first meeting..It is clear that she is loved by and has long-standing relationships with those she serves in the community... When we met, I brought her pictures of flowers that I liked, and our dresses, and she took that vision and expanded it exponentially. She then made sure that her vision was in line with what I wanted. My husband and I were married on the Atlantica Yacht around NY Harbor. My bouquet of red roses (and those of my bridesmaids) were full and healthy. I also loved the rhinetone accents in them. Our rose centerpieces with lights in them were also elegant and just the right touch for our venue. Aside from the beautiful flowers, you get to work with a beautiful person and her prices cannot be beat! You will not be disappointed! :)
I LOVED THIS FLORIST! Betty was wonderful and worth much more than the cost. She was so sweet and flexible to my taste. I loved her and will go to her for any of my other flower needs. The flowers in my center piece were gorgeous and the bouquets were so beautiful. It was great!!!
Betty the manager, completely took care of us. She helped us make it as beautiful as possible while still staying within our budget. She completely listened to what I had to say, and gave me exactly what I wanted.
As I was in the store for our first consultation, people kept coming in and thanking her for her wonderful job! It was as if she planned it.
When the day came, they were in and out without us even seeing them.
Excellent quality and a wonderful price.
I miss the true vendors like Betty that were genuine and cared what we actually wanted.
