Emily is amazing!! She made our pictures so beautiful, by knowing how to catch he best light, knowing what was visually appealing, and having us naturally be rather than stiff posing . She was super professional, but still fun and full of life. She made us feel really comfortable in front of the camera. She helped me think of all the little things that I didnt even realize that I would want pictures of the day of, I had a lot of requests and she knew what was realistic and how to make sure I got what i wanted. I would highly recommend Gem-Photo to any Bride. Emily is in the Bay Area and our Wedding was in San Diego and she was happy to travel. I can re-live my wedding day through our pictures and that is just priceless. Em, you are awesome and a premier wedding vendor!!

I had a GREAT time having Emily shoot my wedding! She was professional and fun and we has such a good time! My husband was not looking forward to pictures AT ALL: engagement or wedding. She sat with us and hung out with us and made us both feel perfectly at ease. We both really enjoyed our time shooting pictures and they came out fabulous. I highly highly recommend using Gem photo for your wedding or any event!

Emily Scott -- Gem Photo is amazing. I knew her as a friend before I hired her but the reason I chose her was the quality of her photography. As I looked through her blog and her website I fell in love with her style and her ability to capture the beautiful moments in life.
Emily is incredible to work with. She did both our engagement and wedding photos. We are still getting compliments on the engagement pictures -- they truly captured our personalities and our love for one another. She has a beautiful way of putting you at ease and letting you know that you really are the most beautiful couple in the world! I felt that gave me the confidence to just relax and have fun with the pictures.
By the time the wedding came I felt completely comfortable with Emily, camera in hand, so our pictures were amazing! I hardly noticed her at the reception but she was always at the perfect place at the right time. I have been to weddings where the photographer was obnoxious and in the middle of everything, but Emily is a true Ninja...we never saw her coming. :)

Emily Scott, with Gem Photo, was absolutely wonderful! Our pictures are beautiful. One of the things I most like about the pictures is that they really capture our expressions. We had a huge bridal party and she was able to creatively capture all of us. We have had so many compliments on the pictures. Also, Emily is a joy to work with. Emily @ Gem Photo was by far the most beautiful blessing for our wedding. Emily arrived early to get a lay of the land and she shot some amazing photos of all the set-up! Emily captured so many beautiful images - all the small things that so often go unnoticed! She also drove to the hotel to capture images of me before I met my soon to be husband at the alter....she not only took amazing pictures in the hotel, she took the time to stop and pray with me....what a gift! Once the ceremony began, Emily captured everything and everyone! One of the most amazing things is that she melted in to every situation - shots at the alter while taking our vows, toasts, praying before lunch, swinging in the tree, cutting the cake, kisses and more kisses with my new husband....and finally when we drove off! We can't say enough wonderful things about Emily! She was so quick to reply when I contacted her too - also helpful, she included a link to her site to view her pictures and a clear&clean price quote which described all the services we would be paying for! It took us all of 5minutes to reply with a YES please ink us in for our wedding! Emily exceeded all our expectations - We were in tears when we received our wedding pictures from her - they were absolutely amazing! We can't thank her enough for what she did - she captured the most specail day of our lives! Five stars all around! From the bottom of our hearts...we thank you Emily!

My name is Emily.
Some people call me Em.
Some of my favorites call me Em the Gem.
Photography is my passion and my calling. I love the way a good photograph makes me feel. Looking at a photograph is a time machine that takes me to a different place. Where I am reminded of love and hope and happiness. Gem Photo exists to give
that gift to others.
I studied Sociology at UCLA. I love people. They fascinate and motivate me. I love meeting new people and finding out what makes them smile. I get excited when other people get me. I love making people laugh, and a lot of times I will resort to
anything to make you laugh for a photo. Be warned.
I feel deeply and express it in everything I do. I am drawn to emotions. I am drawn to colors and fashion and soft light.
I love shopping at thrift stores, finding treasures amidst the clutter, and seeing new beauty in old things.
I love the history there. I love that the photographs I take become a part of history. I love to tell a story.
