General Rental Center

we only rented a round silver cake stand, which was very nice and looked great. it was about $15-20, and it was the only place in the area that had that type of stand, so that was great.
they were very easy to work with and had a good variety of stock, but their "showroom" was not displayed very well at all. i bet i would have rented some other things if i had seen them set up or displayed for their uses, much of the stock was just packed in boxes and/or not available to conveniently see.

Overall, we had a horrible experience working with General Rentals. We called six months before our wedding and place our order for 150 chairs, an archway and put a tent on hold in case it rained (our ceremony was outside). When I first called (as I was planning from 2000 miles away) I was looking on their website and was asking about the archways - what they looked like since they listed three different kinds but didn't have any pictures listed on their website. The man I was speaking with could not describe them, he kept saying, 'oh, they're nice, they look nice, but that was all'. General Rentals also told us that we could 'hold' the tent and closer to the day of our wedding if the tents were being rented, they were going to call us and let us know we either would have to pay for the tent or release it.One month before our wedding we stopped in town and went in to confirm our order. Another woman was there and she was very upset with her order. At first we thought she was being unreasonable, little did we know we would soon be in her shoes. We confirmed our order for chairs, an archway (which they didn't have at the moment and still couldn't describe other than 'nice'), and a tent. They were having problems finding our order in a stack of other orders and eventually did.Three days before our wedding we stopped in as we received a call from Kathy the previous day, but when we called her back, she did not answer, nor did she call us back. We went in and she told us she did not have a tent for us. A wedding in WI in July has a possibility of rain - and it was predicted for that weekend. She never called us and in June everything was still confirmed. General Rentals never called to let us know they rented our tent away. The day before our wedding we received another call from Kathy about our chairs. We had reserved 150 chairs and reserved a set up and take down (six months earlier). We were asked what time we wanted the chairs there - when we told her 9am she said they had to be somewhere at 10am and it wasn't going to work. Finally she agreed that yes, we had asked for a set up and take down and they were to provide it. The only positive thing I can say was that the chairs, once set up, did look nice.Overall, our experience with General Rentals was terrible. We recommend anyone getting married in the Watertown area to have their rentals from anywhere else. Being a small town in the country it is hard to find a place to deliver to, however it is worth it. We ended up renting a tent from the local Lion's Club that was three times cheaper, they were friendly, efficient and fast. Luckily the sun came out and we didn't need the tent that day. The cost was ridiculous and the professionalism was incredibly lacking. Be sure to avoid this vendor.

We got everything we wanted in terms of party rentals for the wedding, but they were a little pricey.
