GWMM was the first and only venue we visited. It's gorgeous by itself, so there's no need for a ton of decorations. We had our ceremony in the theater and our reception in the Grand Masonic Hall. Everyone who works at the venue is friendly and helpful. Radka, the facilities manager, is energetic and responsive. John and Abe on staff were incredibly helpful at the time of the wedding setting up tables and helping the groom and groomsmen transport beverages and decorations into the venue. As an added bonus, the married couple get to go up the tower for photos overlooking Alexandria. Many of our guests were locals who had never been inside the building but loved it and couldn't believe they'd never been. I can't imagine a better place to have a wedding.

This was my top choice for reception venues, and instantly became my husband's top pick after walking through the venue. The location was amazing. Many of the attendees had never been to the building, but they all enjoyed the spectacular architecture of the historic building. The observation deck was a favorite of attendees as well. Radka was extremely helpful, and we felt that the Memorial really made us feel like we were the only people that mattered for the whole week!

This venue is amazing! Many people don't even know they rent it out, but the prices are great and the building is wonderful. All of our guests were amazed at the venue. They are extremely flexible. You essentially rent the space and do whatever you want and use whoever you want!

The Masonic Memorial is truly a hidden gem in the DC area. Not many people even know that this place is available for public rental. You do not have to be a Mason to have your wedding here and the price is more reasonable than you would think. If you are looking to have your wedding/reception at a beautiful, unique, historical venue, then look no further....this is it!

The George Washington Masonic Memorial was our reception venue, and it was amazing - I can't say enough about how impressed our guests were. When we were considering options, we knew we wanted something a bit different than a typical hotel ballroom. The Masonic Memorial is a large and imposing historical structure in Old Town Alexandria, directly opposite the King Street Metro and Amtrak stations. We held the reception for 85 guests in the Grand Masonic Hall (located on the lower level, directly off the parking lot), and it is a beautiful large room chock-full of marble floors and pillars and understated lighting. The great thing is, while the reception took place in the Grand Masonic Hall, we also had access to the rest of the floor, which included a large kitchen and restrooms. We also had several stations throughout the floor, which promoted mingling outside of the Hall and made the space seem even bigger. There is a large free parking lot directly off the room, with a handicapped-accessible ramp. For a reasonable additional fee, the Memorial will provide guests with an opportunity to tour the upper level, which offers an amazing view of Old Town and DC. It was cheaper than many of the other venues that we looked at, and offered much more space, in a grander setting. 6-person wooden tables, long tables, and wooden chairs (looked like school chairs, but were easily covered by chair covers) are included in the rental cost. Fortunately for us, the Memorial wasn't on the bride beaten path, but I am sure it will be! Radka was easy to work with and very helpful, and the physical plant staff responsive (and set out tables and chairs according to our floor plan in advance.) It was a wonderful, wonderful event. Thanks to all of the Memorial staff for making it possible!

The George Washington Masonic Memorial was the perfect place for my husband and me to get married. One of the other reviewers is correct that you do not have to be a mason to get married there, but if your fiancee or future husband is a mason like my husband, it's even more meaningful a place to be married. We used the North Lodge Room for our actual wedding ceremony and then had the reception in the Grand Masonic Hall. The price was extremely affordable for the DC area and the amazing architecture. The views from the memorial are amazing, especially if you go all the way to the top. Since we were coming from out of town it was very important to us that we have someone who was flexible and willing to work with us remotely via phone calls and email. Radka did exactly that. Even better was the awesome staff that helped the night of the event to make sure everything went well and was setup. We used an outside caterer that had done events there in the past so they new the kitchen and setup well. If you are looking for a jem of a location, you definitely should check out the George Washington Masonic Memorial. You can see all the various rooms they rent out at http://www.gwmemorial.org/facility.php.

This was one of our favorite parts of the wedding. We wanted a unique and historical spot for our wedding. The pictures were great in this setting, and our guests really enjoyed the historic location. The people at the temple were very kind, and did not get overprotective about their spot. They allowed us to do tours of the top deck, and provided us with a kitchen for the caterer. We did have to bring everything in, but that allowed us to create our own setting. The price for the location was very reasonable. They said the max was 200, but our group of 125 was about as big as I would recommend.
