I had looked at a couple of small bridal stores and hadn't found what I was looking for. I went to Gesinee's on a recommendation from a friend. They have a large variety and many of the dresses weren't my style but I ended up buying my dress there and I couldn't have been happier. I also thought for how beautiful the dress was we got a great a deal (under $1000). Frances helped us and she was fantastic! I didn't get my alterations there, so I cannot comment on that.
I HAVE to thank Claudia for her amazing job helping me find my wedding dress! She not only picked mine, but all of my bridal shower's dresses too! She has an amazing talent!! Gesinees made the whole process easy and I absolutely love my dress!!!
My wedding dress was amazing! however when it came in their where some beads loose and hanging off (which was fixed during alterations) but for what i paid and how long i waited (well passed the 18 weeks delivery time) i had expected perfection. other then that, it was pleasant for the bridal gown.
the bridesmaid dresses..... lets just say don't go there we had more issues then i thought possible it was not worth it.
I absolutely loved my dress and the customer service was great.
I found the seamstresses, Irene and Aurora to be so helpful. They made all the differences in my experience. They listened to what I wanted and worked hard to accommodate me. They were genuine about wanting to do whatever to make me happy.
I was not happy about the manager of the store; I had problems with the size ordered and expressed how unhappy I was that she ordered a huge dress for me. She did not investigate then follow through and get back to me.
It truly was Irene and Aurora that made me satisfied and made sure I did not take the dress until I was 100% satisfied.
Best wedding dress selection in the bay area. The first dress I tried on was the one I ended up wearing on my special day! They have great customer service.
I was really disappointed with Gesinee. I paid $1650 for my dress and then another $750 in alterations. They insisted that I order a size up because "the dresses are stretched out." This resulted in 3 round of very expensive alterations. Beyond that I ordered my dress in January and it didn't arrive until the first week of July. My wedding was the first Saturday in August. I was very upset by that. Beyond that all of my bridesmaids had problems with sizing and alterations like I did.
I loved my experience at Gesinee's! Everyone was so helpful and made me feel special. When I found THE dress they let me walk around the store and stay in it for 40 min bc I didn't want to take it off and wanted to make sure it was really the one! haha. The alterations ladies were really sweet and knew exactly what needed or didn't need to be done to the dress to perfectly fit my body. The dresses are such a good deal too. My Couture dress could have easily been over $6k somewhere else, but I got it for less than $2k. I know plenty of brides who recommend this place!
Gesinee's Bridal was about an hour and a half from my home but it was well worth the travel! My dress was gorgeous and the alteration team they have does an amazing job! I was so happy with my dress, my wedding jewelry, and my veil :)) They were always so nice and helpful.. And they had good prices!
Gesinee's took very good care of me. They made picking out my bridal gown a delightful experience. They guided me to the perfect gown, even though it was not what I thought I wanted. They helped me understand I was wrong and put me in the perfect dress :) And their selection was absolutely amazing! They also helped us find perfect bridesmaid dresses and a fabulous mother of the bride dress, they did all our alterations, and they handled every challenge I threw at them. I would definitely recommend Gesinee's.
I tried on about 29 dresses before I found my dress here at Gesinee's Bridal. Robin was my bridal consultant and she was so nice to work with. Some of the reviews for this place on another review site aren't so great and I simply don't know why. I not only found my dress here but I found my bridesmaid dresses here too and ppl are still telling me to this day that my dress was the most beautiful dress they had ever seen and my bridesmaids looked absolutely stunning. Give this place a chance, go in with an open mind knowing that you might not find something right away. I wanted to check out other places too but I ultimately came back to Gesinee's. Be sure to ask for Robin. I gave her gift and she said in all her time working there no client has ever given her a gift. You have to remember this is the person that is with you in the dressing room helping you try on 20+ dresses!
Okay service for alterations. A bit overpriced. Seem to give better prices for alterations if you buy your dress from them.
Yes, I found my dress here. But if I knew now what I hadn't known then, I wouldn't come back here. I got engaged in September; found the dress in October. After placing my order, I was told it would take 8-10 weeks to get my dress. It took them 4 months! My dress had a beaded belt that we wanted to make 2 inches wider. When I tried the dress on at my first fitting, the belt wasn't as it should be. They "apologized" and said they'd do a rush order. They're idea of a rush order is 3 months! The dress I bought was reasonable - but where they get you is in the alterations! DO NOT GET YOUR ALTERATIONS DONE THROUGH GESINEE'S. I paid half of what my dress cost in alterations! They will make YOU pay for THEIR mistakes! My advice is: bring your own tape measure and make sure a friend of yours takes your measurements prior to your pinning for alterations and after your pinning. Write these measurements down! If they mess up, there's no way to prove it! The staff at Gesinee's rush you, they don't take the time to ask what you're looking for- they're concerned with whether or not you plan to buy. If you're "just looking", you're not worth their time. The store manager is condescending and is so fakingly sweet! Buy your dress here if you want bad service and want to pay a high price for alterations.
My consultant was Vanessa and she was AWESOME!! She first asked what my budget was and made sure she did not show me any dresses outside of that budget. She was very knowledgeable of the products and very accommodating to my needs (bride) as well as my family.
The only problem I had with the shop is that they measure your bust, waist, and hips to determine the size dress to order. I'm usually a size 8 and I had to order a size 14! There are NO refunds or exchanges at this shop. Thus, after losing 25 pounds I obviously had to majorly alter my dress.
I also ordered my veil there which I regret. I paid way too much for it.
Something I did NOT know was that the Alteration Department is completely seperate from the shop. Service wise, they were "ok." The only problem I had was that my dress was NOT ready for pick up. Luckily I scheduled my dress to be picked up 4 days prior to the wedding. If it had been the day before, I would have been screwed. I did not recieve a call confirming my appointment nor informing me that my dress was not ready. Also, the price for alteration was outrageous. I only went with them because of their experiences with wedding dresses and I did not know where else to go.
Overall, so-so expereience. Future brides...go with caution.
My experience with Gesinee's Bridal was everything I hoped it would be. Jennifer was my consultant and she was amazing! I had brought 6 people with me and we were all treated like VIPS! Jennifer had my style down by the 10th dress which turned out to be The One! I love it, and I would wear it everyday if I could.
The alterations department was just as awesome. I had three appointments with them and each time it was a great experience. One appointment I was by myself and the ladies there fussed over me like I was one of their own, it was great :)
I liked Gesinee's very much. When I went for my appointment to look for my dress, our consultant (who was new and a bit shy) did a great job of pulling dresses that were similar to the styles that I said I liked. She also brought me some styles that were a little bit different to see if those were designs that I might like. I thought she was very receptive to my wants and thoughts. I had a slight alteration for my dress for the designer (there was a part of the dress that I did not want the designer to sew on the dress) and Gesinee's made sure that it was not included. The part I was most impressed with was their alteration department. While somewhat expensive, the ladies at alterations are very knowledgable and pinned my dress quickly, but just the way I wanted it. They know what they are doing!! All in all, I would go to Gesinee's again if I had to do it all over again.
I bought my dress and had alternations with Gesinee's.
Elizabeth was my consultant. I came in with an idea of what I wanted and she managed to work with my budget and idea. I believe I was in a room specifically for "Under $1000". She even asked ahead of time if it was okay that she helped me dress (you should really go down to your underwear for this kind of dress fitting... she helped me get into the bustier).
The store policy is no pictures in dresses until after you agree to buy, which is pretty common in other stores I went into. The manager that measured me didn't seem too friendly, but when I returned for my dress inspection/pick-up, she was sweet as can be.
From what I understand, you can either pay in full or initially 75%... but I think 75% requires tax. Be sure to clarify that with your consultant first.
I received a call for my initial fitting and it went just as I expected. My dress was huge, because I had to go a few sizes up (I have the a plus-size bust and average waist). I finished paying the rest of the dress.
The alterations shop is directly across the street from the dress shop. I was told to give 4-8 weeks for alternations. I called to make an appointment; they told me that they would have the dress waiting for me there and I didn't have to bring it over.
Tsui was in charge of my alternations and she was fantastic. She gave me an estimate as soon as I asked, and allowed the payments to be divided in 2 installments. In the first appointment, she took the dress in everywhere and hemmed the dress.
During my second appointment, the fit and length were perfect. She then measured the bustle and asked to come back in an hour so she could sew it in. I came back after a few errands, and she taught my Maid of Honor how to bustle my dress. I paid the second half and I left the dress there after the second day for bead tightening and steaming.
By the third day, I just came to pick up the dress; no fuss.
The dress needed to be taken in, hemmed, and bustled for $400 (most of my dress was multiple layers of organza). Total alteration time was 4 weeks.
Overall, my experience was very good.
Shopping for a dress was the least exciting thing for me, unusually as a bride. But they made the experience easy and had so many dresses to choose from. They were very accomodating to my family who had come along on the appointment. The alterations staff were a little quirky but did great work. My dress fit amazingly.
I had a wonderful experience with the people at Gesinees. Irene worked with me from the day we found my dress and for the next 11 months. She was a delight to work with. They have a great variety of dresses for all of the wedding party...wedding gowns from couture to casual, bridesmaids dresses of all kinds and also a surprisingly great collection of mother of the bride dresses. My only complaint is that they were a bit disorganized when it came to keeping track of our orders. They were having computer issuse which at times made communication difficult. But all in all I had a good experience there.
Gesinee's Bridal gets almost 5 stars from because the service I received initially and because of Mrs. Gesinees herself. I was able to buy the gown of my dreams thanks to her!
My dress was beautiful and everything I ever wanted it to be... Ashley was the first girl who helped me when I walked in with no appointment and she was great. Very friendly, honest and professional. I got my dress with her help that same day. As much as I loved my dress I can't say the same about the other staff. I didn't catch their name/s but a few ladies were quite snooty and rude- especially the older lady with dark brown short hair and she's a little on the bigger side. Too much to go into detail but basically she has an attitude problem. Also, I think I was measured incorrectly (I did not gain any weight in the 3 months since ordering my dress- I work out 3-5x week, I eat right)- upon my first fitting my dress was waaaay toooooo small. I was measured again and told that I had gained not even an inch on my hips. I was either measured incorrectly or was advised an incorrect size because I do remember the day I ordered my dress the size that was recommended for me was a 1/8 inch smaller around the hips BUT the measuring lady told me I would be fine. Whatever the case, they handled it pretty well and gave me the floor model of the same dress they just had to fix the beading and spot clean and steam clean it...it looked great and I'm happy they had the floor model available. Not too happy with the service though. Ashley was great tho!
The only positive thing I can say about Gesinee's is that their prices on their wedding gowns are very reasonably priced. I shopped around Burlingame and found "the one" but for way more. It was $700 less at Gesinee's.
I can't say my experience at Gesinee's was a positive one. The staff seemed really clueless.
They were having a June promotion, if a bride purchased her wedding gown by the month of June then she would receive a free veil. This was clearly stated on their website and was also told to me by the consultant who was helping me. As I was paying for my dress, they rang up my veil and tried to charge me for it. HOLD UP, they told me that I would get a free veil during the month of June. Apparently there was $150 limit on free veils and I was responsible for the rest of the balance if my veil was more (I didn't know the veil the consultant showed me cost $300!!). Since I wasn't told about the limit they knocked off a hundred bucks but I still had a balance due. Strike One.
My wedding gown came with straps, so I had asked my consultant if it was possible the manufacturer could make my gown strapless. She told me it was possible but for a fee, which I was fine with. 2 weeks after I had placed my order, they call and tell me that a strapless option wasn't possible and that they would place a credit on my account. I decided to just use the credit to go towards the remaining balance on my "free" veil. Strike Two
Last weekend when I went to pick up my wedding gown, they told me the credit on my account went towards my veil already, therefore I still had a balance with them for my veil. BS!!! I had to deal with Gesinee's manager who did not look friendly nor was she accomodating at all. I explained to her the situation and she was trying to tell me otherwise. I showed her my reciepts and clearly everything was itemized. My reciepts showed the fee for the straps including the discounted price for my "free" veil. Apparently no one recorded it on their notes. To make a long story short, I didn't have to pay that outrageous balance.
The unfriendly manager gave me a card to their alterations center with no instructions on when to take my dress in and where their center was located. I had to ask her about what to do. It's not everyday a gal like me gets married. She offered to help bring my dress to the car, but all she did was chuck in the backseat while she went to have a cigarette pretty much in front of me. A little unprofessional don't you think. Couldn't she wait after I had left or go somewhere else? Strike Three.
All in all, I don't plan on taking my dress here to get altered, I've already had a couple bad experiences with Gesinee's. I guess you really do pay for what you get.
My dress was beautiful. Alterations were great. They consultant that helped my when trying on dresses was great. The store manager was rude. I had some trouble with the dress having a flaw and she basically kept calling me "hun" and saying sorry. I ordered it a year in advance in case there were any problems. I had to continue following up because she would never call when she said she would.
Long story short: The one star is because my dream dress was $700 cheaper here than it was at Papers in Petals in Burlingame. The service blows; they promise you one thing but then do the other. I found out they never did a hollow to hem on my dress so they overcharged me on something they never done. It wasn't worth the effort or gas to drive all the way back to dispute. All in all you get what you paid for.
I have only given them 3 stars based on their service and prices for alterations. My dress was amazing and affordable, it was made by Casablanca and I am still in love with my dress, wish there was a reason to wear it again. But the alterations were almost as half the cost of my dress, this was quite shocking and disappointing. We of course still had it altered, but very pricey in my opinion.
I had a wonderful time at Gesinee's. I've been to about four bridal Salons in the bay so far and this one by far had the hugest inventory for every price point. It was the first place I went to after getting engaged so I didn't appreciate this at the time.
I think your experience will depend on who your consultant is. Ask for Teresa. She is great and down to earth. Never pressured me to buy anything I didn't want to. I tried on some Jim Hjelm dresses there and Gesinee's is one of the few places in the bay that carried them.
The salon is huge. I haven't ordered from them and don't have any experience with that yet. THeir alterations service i believe is a tad expensive and they no longer charge for additional appointments!
what can i say about my experience here?
nothing good that's for sure! if i could leave zero stars, i would...
let me start by saying i am overweight - yep - ive got a little more jelly than most girls, but hey - what can ya do?? hahaa
so i arrived for my appointment and described what i was looking for (strapless, lace, kind of "grace kelly looking" and the consultant brought me everything BUT what i was looking for
i specifically said "no halter" and guess what she brought me?? HALTER! oh my...
so i'm a steet 14 - which translated to the consultant's pensive look as if to say - how am i going to find a "fat sized bride size" wedding gown... and i'm sure other gals my size have learned - most sample dresses are a sized 8 or 10 - which really means a street 6 or somewhere in that area...
ok i get it - it's not the bridal store's fault that i cant try on the size 8 dresses, but my annoyance was more in her treatment of me than the availability of dresses
so she found a maggie sottero dress (finally) that fit my criteria - but while zipping me up she says "youre gonna need a girdle" um ok - thanks - like i already didnt know that!
so then i ask her to see how a mantilla veil would look - she looks at me and asks "oh what's that? a new designer?" WHAT?? how does a consultant at a bridal salon NOT know what different styles of veils there are?
i couldnt wait to get out of there - which apparently she couldnt either b/c i didnt put a deposit down on the dress i tried on...
i dont recommend spending any time or money here - the service was horrible and you can find a beautiful wedding gown elsewhere, somewhere else where the staff is courteous, helpful and knowledgeable.
like i said - if i could give zero stars i would, but i'm stuck giving one star - and even that is generous
Very helpful, lovely environment, friendly staff, dresses of all types and cost, and I would definitely recommend their services. However, the prices charged by their alterations department were disappointingly quite high.
Ask for Kendra to help you. She's delightful! I thought I wanted one thing for a dress and she listened to me and my reactions to what I thought I wanted and went off and found the perfect dress for me that I wouldn't even have considered. Couldn't have been happier! Plus, she's so nice and lets you have privacy.
Gesinee Bridal was actually the second bridal store that I visited. The first bridal store, which was located in Campbell, CA and about 15 miles from my home, the sales rep had no clue about bridal dresses, unprofessional, and didn't have any customer service skills.
I was extremely happy and thankful to have found my wedding dress at Gesinee Bridal. Irene was the sales rep that assisted me and my mom. She is so nice, professional, has great excellent customer service, and knows her job well.
Even though Gesinee Bridal is located in Concord, CA (about an hour away from my home), my mom and I were willing to drive the distance becuase of the excellent service we received from Irene and the rest of the staff.
Not only did we purchase my dress, but we also found my mom's beautiful Mother of the Bride dress!
Overall, we were wary of the bad reviews we had read about Gesinee's but they had a dress that I loved so we bought it from them. The alterations went very smoothly. I worked with Barbara from start to finish- she runs the alterations department but I was lucky enough to meet with her the first time I went in to look at dresses. She was not pushy and gave me the privacy I needed when changing. She was super nice and the groom's mom liked her so much that she bought her dress there too. I can't vouch for any other employees but Barbara was great. If you go, definitely request her.
After spending almost $20,000 I would have expected better customer service. When the MOB dress I had already paid for was unavailable I was offered the sample and told I would get a discount. Never saw the discount.
This was my first stop on my hunt for the perfect wedding dress. I had a lovely time and my bridal consultant was sweet and friendly and helpful. Although I did not end up purchasing my dress from this store, I did find the dress I wound up purchasing at it! I had a lot of fun at Gesinee's Bridal, and it certainly was a great kick off to my wedding planning adventures.
Eh...I didn't actually go into the store because I already had my wedding dress(es) and we were only purchasing bridesmaids dresses here.
I had issues with customer service by phone. They lost one of the order forms, whenever I called, they act like they couldn't find my file.
In the end, we got a wonderful dress..I guess, really no thanks to them. They were late, needed alterations and their pricing was rediculous!
They didn't give us the promissed discount...hm...well nothing else to say about them.
love my dress and the service I obtained there...would recommend
The first time I visited Gesinee's was to purchase my wedding gown. I had a wonderful consultant, Elena and a fantastic experience! I was extatic about my gown and so happy I had gone to Gesinees. I purchased my gown and even received a thank you from Elena for buying my gown there. I was so pleased with the service I was provided with however, every other trip after I had purchased my gown wasn't quite as pleasant. Several months later I went back to Gesinee's to look for gowns for my mother and grandmother. I was so surprised by the poor service we received...this time we were matched with a different consultant. I felt like she wasn't really wanting to help us and wasn't listening to what we were saying we were looking for. She kept pulling gowns way out of our price range and got upset when we asked her to clip the back of the gowns (her job). This was neccessary as all of the gowns were around a size 14 and my mom and gradmother are both very pettite women. My grandmother purchased a long evening gown at a very reasonable price, but my mom found her dress at David's Bridal in Pinnole.
The one thing that really upset me was when I went in to order a swatch of my bridal gown so that I could make sure my shoes were the right color. I went in and paid my $5.00 for the swatch. They let me know that it would take about 4-6 weeks, which was still plenty of time before the wedding. My credit card had been billed immediately, but after 8 weeks there was still not fabric. When I called the lady told me that I had already called about the swatch and that they would let me know when it came in. I told her I had never called about the swatch and she continued to tell me that I had. Very frustrated I hung up and waited for a call from them telling me when the swatch arrived. Three months after my wedding date, I decided I would call about the swatch that had still yet to show up! When I called the lady said, "Oh do you still want it?" I said yes, I did pay for it. She said she would call me back. When she called me back she told me they no longer made swatches out ofthat material. Needless to say she did credit my account the $5.00 I originally paid.
Overall Gesinee's is a great place if you get a good consultant! They provide brides with a huge selection of gowns within all budgets! Good luck!
The service was great and the staff listened to what I had to say about each dress. They never brought me a dress that was out of my price range. The only downside was that they were in Concord and I live in SJ but it was worth it for the service.
I went to Gesinee's twice before going back to purchase my dress. Each time I went in my consultant listened to what I said and pulled dresses accordingly. They never showed me anything above my price range or that was in a style I didn't want to try. They were extremely helpful in ordering my dress and veil and great turn around time.
This is the bridal store from hell! I will tell every bride out there - do not shop here.
They do not care about customer service. They bullshit you and lie to you.
They lost my initial bridesmaid order, and didn 't care.
My wedding dress came in crooked and they have the nerve to charge me to straighten it out in alterations.
Once they have you money - your screwed and they don't care what happens.
We were a little hesitant about going to Gesinee's with some of the negative reviews, but having such a large inventory, we decided to make an appointment anyway (for bridesmaid dresses).
I'll give them one star, because they actually do have quite a nice selection.
Some of the people who work there are quite lovely. Others can be quite...abrasive. Downright unpleasant actually (mostly the people who check you in at the front door).
But my low score has to do with their incredibly disappointing response to a problem filled transaction. Long story short, every time there was a problem or a delay, that was out of our control, we would have had no idea, and no way to fix it, if we weren't constantly checking in. In fact, if we hadn't been so diligent (both bride & bridesmaids), I suspect we wouldn't have bridesmaid dresses in time for the wedding, even though they were ordered 7 months in advance. The whole experience was so, so disappointing. And so, so stressful.
My first experience with Gesinee's was great. Terry was my consultant, she didn't show me any dresses above my price range and was really helpful. So when I returned to purchase a couple months later, I didn't expect my experience to be different. Boy was I wrong.
Terry wasn't there, so I got stuck with this other woman - probably mad because I insisted that Terry get the commission. She really didn't want to help me try on dresses. She did the measurements and ordered the dress, which had gone up in price by almost $200. I felt a little stuck, because I really liked that dress.
When my dress came in, it didn't fit! It was too small up top by about 1-2 inches, but fit perfectly around the waist. The same lady that helped me visit #2 made me sign a document that said I gained weight, and she remeasured me really loosely to show I wasn't the same size, etc. Luckily, Barbara from alterations was there and we talked about the alterations that could be made - don't want a bigger size because then the rest of the dress would be too big, etc.
The alterations were a bit pricey - maybe could have gotten a better deal if I had shopped around, but I like what they did - changed the back to a corset to make it more form-fitting and took the dress up at the waist to preserve the asymmetric tiers in the skirt. You really couldn't tell the dress had been worked over at all and I got a lot of compliments on my dress, especially from my husband!
Truly a mixed experience!
They were great to work with. We gave them a our budget and they helped us find the perfect dress. Delivery was super fast.
I enjoyed working with Gesinee's Bridal - everyone there was so helpful! Rosemary was so insightful and helpful to work with when purchasing my wedding dress! And the people in alterations were very helpful as well! I am so glad I worked with all of them and had the most GORGEOUS & STUNNING wedding dress I had ever seen! Thank you for making my experience so easy!
Gesinee's gets a bad rap on some review sites and I don't know why. They were great with me. I went to many high end bridal shops and had worse service than I received at Gesinee's. They are priced right, they are well established, and they have tons of dresses. Try them.
I knew the dress I wanted before I walked into Gesinee's. The bridal consultants were absolutely adorable and helpful. They made me feel so beautiful. I was kept informed every month on the status of my dress order - it was a rush cut. The dress needed significant alterations because I am only 4'7" and use a powered wheelchair for mobility. Gesinee's alterations department were amazing. They worked with me at each fitting and offered creative solutions to make my dress the most beautiful and awesome bridal gown.
I also had a bad experience with this store. They called and changed my appointment time, then when I arrived NO ONE greeted us even though there seemed to be at least 8 people walking around who worked there. When we were finally greeted we had to wait another ten minutes before anyone would meet with us.
The lady that helped me was nice but not helpful. There was another sales girl walking around who was so obnoxious and loud and could be heard throughout the store. I found my dress elsewhere.
I went to Gesinee's Bridal to look specifically at Watters dresses. I was ten minutes late for my appointment because of traffic. When I arrived I had to wait for fifteen more minutes until the consultant who was supposed to be helping me, finished with another client. So thirty minutes after my appointment time I got to talk to a very young woman, who could not have been more than eighteen (in fact she looked younger than that) and with a very very bad cold. She was sniffling and sneezing.
I told her what I was looking for, but she said she could not show me only Watters styles, I had to choose a price range. I chose the mid-range ($1000-$2000) since I believed that's where most of the Watters style fell into. Then I explained what kind of style I was looking for - a V-neck sheath or a V-neck A-line dress, no strapless gowns. I brought photos of the dresses I liked, together with their Watters id numbers (I was thorougly prepared after weeks of online research). The yound lady did not listen to me, neither did she look at the photos, then went off to look for dresses and told me I could look through all the dresses I could see. I rifled aimlessly through many dresses and found several that I liked. I pulled them off the rack and took them to my dressing room. After a while the consultant brought a number of strapless gowns, several halter necks, and no V-necks. Yes, they were mainly by Watters, but not any of the styles whose pictures I had tried to show her.
She helped me try on a few of the dresses, while sneezing and sniffling all over them, all over the clips with which she clipped me, and over some of the accessories for the dresses. While I was trying on dresses, my sister who had come with me, went off looking for more dresses that fit my requirements. My sister was more helpful and found better dresses than the supposedly trained and qualified bridal consultant! The consultant was very pushy and after each dress, she asked me if it was a Yes or a No. So I had to decide on the spot whether I really liked the dress and she should leave it for me to look at, or she should take it back. My sister brought a number of dresses that I liked and found some of the styles that I had come to Gesinee's to try on!
After what seemed to me no time at all, the consultant informed me that the appointment was over. I was so surprised and asked why. She said that each appointment was an hour and a half, and I had arrived half an hour later, so my appointment was only an hour. I protested saying that she had kept me waiting more than fifteen minutes after I had arrived only ten minutes late. She said that that's all the time I had and I could make another appointment and pay the appointment fee ($45) if I wanted to come back and keep trying dresses on. Needless to say, not only did I not find what I was looking for, but I never considered going back to Gesinee's Bridal!
I was hesitate going to Gesinee's Bridal because of so many bad reviews on different websites but I went there anyway because it was the closest place to carry the brand Watters. It was actually a good experience, the sales assoc. was helpful and patient, however, I had to wait over half an hour for my consultation even though I had made an appointment. The store is actually larger than it looks from the outside and they seperate their dresses according to price. It was a bit more expensive than what I originally thought but if you pay the whole balance that day then they don't charge you sales tax. First consultations are free but afterwards they starting charging, I think it's $35. I'm still waiting for my dress since I just ordered it last month so I have yet to write a review about that.
I wasn't really impressed with Gesinee's. My BMs and I went to try on some dresses for them we had in mind. We were introduced to a young lady who was supposed to help us. However, while we were browsing for dresses, this other older lady all of a sudden took over and was throwing dresses at us that weren't even something we were looking for. On top of that, she was almost snotty and seemed annoyed we couldn't find the dress styles we liked. I kept looking at my BMs going, "who is she?" We ended up leaving and thanked the young lady and out of respect, thanked the older lady as well. She never even looked up to say anything to me or the rest of my BMs. Quite rude...
Had great dresses good prices, but not the most knowledgeable staff. The alterations were very expensive it was more than my dress. I felt like i was lied too. wouldn't recommend them
The place has a wonderful selection and are very helpful in allowing you to try on what ever you want. They brought me my dream dress and I loved it so much! I got all of my bridesmaids dresses here too and they dyed my shoes and did all of the alterations.
I had heard horror stories and was worried about coming to Gesinee's Bridal - but I am glad I went anyway. I was not charged for anything frivolous or over the top charges: I did not pay to try on dresses, i did not pay to have my dress pressed and ready for pick up and I did not pay to store the dress there. I visited the store twice and tried on a lot of dresses and my salesperson was wonderfully patient carrying dresses back and forth and giving suggestion and doing whatever I asked. The second time I went back, I had a much better idea of what I wanted and they helped me find the dress. As a matter of fact, they didn't have the exact dress, they had a *slightly* different version that was $400 cheaper - totally worth it!!!
When it came time to decide the size of my dress... first I got lucky because I tried on my size (in regular clothes I am anywhere from an 8 to 12, but with the gown I was a size 14 - a perfect fit. I don't understand how the numbers work, but I know they are different than regular clothing). Second, they showed me a size of recommended sizes per body shape/weight/height and ultimately it was my decision (they did not force *anything*).
When I went for my fitting, I was worried that the seamstresses would try to tell me what to do: not in the least. I insisted that all I wanted was to add a "bustle" - i did not want to hem the dress (I wanted to wear heels that were high enough - big mistake on my part). The point is, everyone at Gesinee's was very professional and they listened to what I wanted and did not force anything down my throat. I *highly* recommend this Bridal shop. In addition, if you don't want overly expensive gowns, SAY SO when you walk in and they will take you straight to the second floor. Lots of dresses around $1000. THANK YOU GESINEE's (by the way, I got married Dec 30, 07 - so I am writing as a 100% satisfied costumer, a month after the wedding)
I absolutely loved my wedding dress and thought it was beautiful for the price! I also bought my bridesmaids dresses here and was happy with that. The only complaint would be the inconsistent quality of service. The lady that helped me choose my dress was great! But, our experience when we went dress shopping for my mom was not as good. Overall, their selection is pretty good and the prices are decent.
I had a horrible experience at Gesinee's. At first they acted like they were doing me a favor to show me dresses, even though I had an appointment. The saleswoman was helpful in finding flattering styles, but she was very, very high pressure -- she reminded me of a car salesman. I felt bullied and was so glad my mom was there to say that we weren't going to buy a dress without thinking about it overnight. And when I didn't buy a dress at that first appointment, the saleswoman bad-mouthed us to another sales clerk before we were even out the door! (As if THAT would make me come back to buy a dress!) They have a huge selection, but it's not worth the high pressure sales tactics. Thankfully, there are many other (nicer) bridal salons.
Horrible Experience With Gesinee's
I will admit that their selection is great! And I was pleased with their service at first even though their forceful sales tactics were a bit intimidating.
Long story short -
I found the dress of my dreams there. I came back with my maid of honor to try it on for a second opinion, she loved it, so we ordered it. The first problem was that the agent gave me the completely wrong lead time and I ended up waiting over a month longer for my dress than originally planned.
The second problem was that when my dress FINALLY came in, my mom flew down from Washington to go with me to pick it up and they ordered the wrong dress. The manager tried to tell me that it was the right dress, then when she realized that the clerk put the wrong "vendor id" on the order form she tried to tell me that I was responsible for verifying the order. I told her that there was no way for me to know what their vendor codes were.
So, once we got that resolved they were able to rush the order for the correct dress. And I got it in the time frame that they said they would get it to me. BUT... they told my mom that they would "compensate" me for the error (especially since my mom had FLOWN in for the occasion), whether it be discounted alterations or purchases, etc.
Yeah, they didn't. When I went to pick up my REAL dress the manager was running out, never acknowledged me and never came back. The new clerk that was helping me didn't even know what had happened.
I was livid. Their errors and lack of customer service turned what shoudl have been a great experience into a stressful one.
So here's my complaints
-Gesinees promised me a delivery date BUT was two week late!
-THEY CHARGED MY DRESS TO THE WRONG CREDIT CARD: despite an email I sent confirming the CC and a phone call in which I gave all of the information, they charged THE NATIONAL BRIDAL CARD I had applied for and planned to use for future use. I discovered the charge 10 months later, after my credit had been destroyed!
-I NEVER RECEIVED AN APOLOGY FROM THE OWNER WHICH I EXPLICTLY ASKED FOR. The administrative aspect of this business is seriously dysfunctional! STEAR CLEAR OF THIS PLACE!
1) When I bought the dress they told me my dress would be in my hands by a certain date (which was one of the major deciding factors in why I bought the dress, as my wedding was only 2 months away). When that day came and went I of course called and was rudely informed that it would be another two weeks and that I must have misunderstood when my dress was going to arrive. I told her I hadn't and that I would never have agreed to receive me dress one day before my wedding which is what they were saying would happen in the best case scenario. After my mother made a fit they agreed unhappily to rush the shipping for free.
2) So my wedding day passed and one would think that the drama with Gesinee's would have as well. But alas... 6 months pass and on Christmas day I receive a phone call from a man who claims he is calling in regards to the $65.00 I owe to Gesinee's Bridal. I thought for sure it was a scam because 1) I had paid for my dress in full with my dad's credit card 2) I never made any charge for 65.00. Nonetheless I called Gesinee's a few days later and described the phone call and gave all of the information the man on the phone had given me. After checking her records she agreed that I had paid in full and that she would check into it and give me a call back. Well I never did hear back and the situation slipped my mind until 4 months later I apply for a lease and find out I have 1000.00 I owe to the NATTIONAL BRIDAL ASSOCIATION. I was shocked and told the lease agent it must be fraud. After a week of research I discovered that... GESINEE'S BRIDAL HAD MADE AN UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE ON THE NATIONAL BRIDAL CARD I HAD APPLIED FOR, DESPITE AN EMAIL CONFIRMING THE CREDIT CARD I WANTED TO USE AND A TELEPHONE CALL IN WHICH I GAVE THE CREDIT CARD INFORMATION AND NUMBER! Oh and the reason it took 8 months for me to find out was because they (GE MONEY BANK/ NATIONAL BRIDAL ASSSOCIATION) were sending notices to my childhood home (not the address I put on the application).
There were so many dresses for all budgets, and all of them were top notch. The help I received was tremendous.
My experience was Gesinee's Bridal went like this... The first time I went in there to try on dresses I had a really nice lady assisting me. She was helpful and listened to me about what kind of dress I wanted. She didn’t push over priced, ugly dresses on me. Turns out she picked out the most perfect dress for me. I couldn’t wait to get laced up and show my mom. I knew it was the perfect dress for me. I didn’t buy it at the time as my mom wanted me to look around some more. But no other dress compared to the one I found at Gesinees.
So a month later I went back in to try it on again to make sure I still loved it. The only problem was that the nice woman who helped me before was on a leave of absence. So they handed me off to this loud, rude, obnoxious woman with big hair and red lips. She was pushy and impatient. She forced me to try on other dresses that were not at all the style I was looking for. After trying on 2 tacky dresses, I asked if I could just try on the one I liked so much. I tried it on and I was still so in love with the dress.
We bought the dress from the woman who was the least helpful. What upsets me is that she probably got the commission on the dress too. She took my measurements and insisted that I order a size 20. I am size 14. I was very hesitant about ordering it so big. She reassured us over and over again that because of my bust size I should get a size 20. She is the expert right? So we ordered a size 20. When the dress arrived and I tried it on, I almost died. It was strapless and when I tried it on and stood up straight the whole thing fell to my ankles on the floor. It was so big and that my mom and the girl assisting had to hold it up for me to look at. I was so upset that the woman would suggest I order something that would have fit 2 of me.
We let Gesinee's take care of the alterations. They had to completely reconstruct my dress. They had to cut a huge section down the back and remove it. Then sew the dress back together. There was so much unnecessary, left over material that I could have had another dress made. Then the best part was I that I was charged $500 for the alterations. I was completely offended and upset that there “expert” would suggest we order a dress 6 times larger then I actually was. Then they charged us $500 to fix it. So my $1,250 dress just turned into a $1,750 dress. But what I was going to do?? My wedding was in a couple months. So we paid it. My mom even talked to Gesinee herself about us being charged so much for something her employee talked us into. It didn’t matter. She didn’t give us any kind of a break. Instead she showered me with fake compliments on how much weight I must have loss. I was never a size 20 to begin with! Then a week before my wedding I went in for my final fitting. I will give the girls who did the alterations kudos for doing a great job. It was a big job and they completed it in a timely manner. Also I hadn’t decided if I was wearing a veil or not. The girls there convinced me that a bride isn’t a bride without a veil. I picked a nice shoulder length veil that could arrive in the shop in a matter of days. I picked up my veil 2 days before my wedding and went home to try it on. IT WAS THE WRONG VEIL!!! They ordered me the wrong veil. This one was waste long and had three tiers with white ribbon. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? It was too late to get another one! So I used it. Luckily it looked beautiful with my dress.
I personally did not have a good experience with Gesinee's Bridal. I still tell my friends to check it out for themselves. But I tell them my story and warn them before they commit to buying anything from there. I hope my story helps future brides!! Good luck Ladies!!!
I found the perfect dress and they gave me all the time and attention I needed.
I had Jackie help me to pick out my wedding gown. What a wonderful place!! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helped me pick out my perfect wedding gown (from Sincerity Bridal!). I could not have asked for better service!!
This was a horrible experience. A perfect example of one of those bridal shops where everyone that works there is totally condescending and pushy. They look at you like you're a leper if you arent going to spend at least $2000 on the dress. They charge a fee to try dresses on, even to the bridesmaids!
The place is small and gets really crowded, it is best to try to book an appointment during a non-busy weekend.
I never thought I would end up buying my dress at a bridal store in Concord since I lived in the city. But the dress I really liked - a Maggie Sottero one, was shown at one of their trunk shows. So I drove all the way out there one weekend to check it out. That was actually 14 months before my wedding.
I brought a picture of that Maggie dress with me and when I asked them if they had it, they took it off of the shelf for me. I tried it on and loved it, but of course I had to try on other dresses as well. The lady told me that if I bought the dress that day, she would give me a 10% off truck show discount. I really liked the dress and would probably get it regardless. It's nice to have a discount, so I bought it and I stopped looking at dresses at the stores and in the magazines.
3 months later, they told me that my dress came in but my wedding was another 11 months away. I didn't want to bring the dress home because I didn't want DH to "snoop" around my closet. So I asked if they could hold the dress for me until it's time for my first fitting. 5 months after that, I went in for my first fitting and I ordered my veil during that trip. Another month later, it was my 2nd fitting and I tried everything on. It was perfect and I brought the dress home.
The whole dress-shopping experience there was a very pleasant one for me. I have heard mixed reviews about Gesinee's, but they were very nice and courteous to me every time I was there. If you can, try to go on a weekday. Weekends tend to be crazy at the store.
I ordered my bridesmaids dress here and was pretty unhappy with the experience. The sales person was rude and didn't seem interested in helping us -- or even being there. Compared to other bridal stores, this was one of the worst. To make matters worse, even though the bride emphasized over and over again which dress she wanted to order, the store got it wrong. Luckily, the store gave us a discount, but still.
The one good thing: after another place screwed up a different friend's wedding dress order -- that is, the dress never arrived -- my friend was able to purchase the same exact dress off the rack at Gesinee's. So the store came through for her.
The dress prices had a great array in terms of cost and luxuriousness. You could choose a less expensive dress or go into the more expensive section and still have a good selection. The staff was helpful and freindly. My only complaint is that the alterations cost over $400 which I thought was ridiculoud cosidering I bought a $400 dress. And there were no payment plans or anything....and you had no idea how expensive the costs of the alterations would be until the dress came back. I was caught quite unawares with such a large alterations bill and I felt very stuck. I would recommend this place to those who dont mind a little extra cost here or there but I couldnt afford that.
