Gilda's Place of Bridals
From the first visit to the last, I was given the full attention of the sales women helping me. They were so honest with all the dresses / accessories / shoes I tried on - that I was confident in the choices I made. On the first visit, I had requested dresses without corset backs, without any glittery details and I didn't want strapless... they brought me all the dresses they had that met the criteria. After trying them all, they asked if would be willing to try just 1 dress outside the criteria... I figured, I'd gone thru so many dresses, it wouldn't hurt to put on one more... I was in love! I ended up with a strapless dress, with a corset back, and a small glittery detail on the front and back. I could not be happier with my dress! Gilda's was amazing to work with and so helpful with all the other details - even recommending a photograpther
I had a wonderful experience at Gilda's. The day I found my dress, I had just about had it with trying on dresses and the owner (Sue) encouraged me to try one more on. Well, of course that ended up being the dress I picked. It was significantly lower than my budget (score!), came in on time and alterations were included.
I also ordered my bridesmaids dresses through Gilda's and I was no easy client! I had chosen a discontinued dress in a discontinued color and wanted to change the fabric to taffeta! I was nervous that when they came in, they weren't going to be right, or there was going to be some type of problem. Well there wasn't, everything went smoothly and alterations were also included for my girls! The seamstress there actually made my flowergirl's dress (for a very reasonable price) and it came out amazing!
The only reason I gave them 4.5/5 for 'responsiveness' was because occasionally I called during normal business hours and nobody answered the phone and I had to leave a message, wait for a call back, etc. And with 'quality of service', the only hiccup was the day I went to pick up my dress it wasn't ready (they were still pressing it) and I had to come back an hour later...other than that, they were absolutely fantastic and a pleasure to work with! Sooooooo patient, very honest and wonderfully...
Vendor response to review
Jackie: In response to your cons, unfortunately sometimes we are with customers and are not able to pick up calls at that very moment. On our voicemail we ask you to leave non urgent messages and we will return them as soon as possible usually within 48 hrs and if urgent to call back. In regards to the dress not ready for pick up, we schedule pick-up times and ask that if you choose to come in any earlier to call in advance first. There are times we have many weddings in a single weekend and are not able to accomodate earlier pick-up times than scheduled. We thank you for your review and will continue to work on improving our customer needs. It was a pleasure to work with you and we wish you a very successful marriage.
Sue the owner runs a phenomenal business with her Mom Connie and Louisa the seamstress whose work is prestine. They are so friendly professional kind and really are special. They made our experience one that we will never forget. We can't thank them enough for their devoted service.
Their dresses are of the highest quality and my family and i will be sure to return for not only bridal wear but for the unique styles and quality of product that they carry. We love them and can't stop talking about their service. A must place to visit to find that special dress you are looking for and for an experience you will not forget and will treasure for years to come.
In short the 5 reasons to make this your vendor are professionalism, dedication to making you feel special, kindness, craftsmanship, and exceptional service with an individual spin.
I have been to Gild'as before and knew for my wedding I would go back. However Gilda's closed for a bit and I was extremely sad it was right after my engagement. I bought a dress at Running of the Brides and had no idea who I would trust to alter it...until I heard that Gilda's was re-opening! I brought my dress in, and though I didn't buy it for them, they were more than happy to alter it. And did a fabulous job! It was not an easy skirt to hem, and it was not an easy bustle to make. The woman working on the dress would not quit until it was just right, and it came out perfect! I ordered all 6 bridesmaids dresses from Gilda's and the alterations came out just as good, in most cases the girls only had to go for one fitting!
I had a dress that I had purchased elsewhere... but I needed the zipper changed into a corset back.
I brought it to Gilda's & within just a few days, thay had changed the back... matching it perfectly. It looked as if the dress was created as a corset.
They also did some minor alterations for me, (moving straps, creating a bustle) that came out just perfect.
I looked and felt beautiful on my wedding day.
I was an out-of-town bride and they were extremely accomodating! My maid of honor and I went in 3 days before the wedding for our final fitting and they were able to have everything perfect in time. I had complete trust in their work and my dress was more beautiful when they were done then I could even imagine! They fielded my phone calls and worked with me and my bridesmaids to get everything ready in time. And I was able to even rent a petty coat. They also told us where to go to have my dresses preserved and clean after the big day.
It was a really great experience!
I don't know what anyone would go anywhere else besides distance, but this place was a life saver. I had done the usual, David's Bridal and checking other local bridal boutiques and found nothing in my price range that didn't resemble either an 80s throw back or a pilgrim smock. Gilda's staff were so helpful, honest and professional. They were able to take a size 12 dress off the discontinued rack (I just fell in love with the beading and cut of the dress) and alter is down to a size 0. You would never know that the dress was not made to fit me. They were flexible with their scheduling for fittings, and so reasonably priced that my bridesmaids bought their dresses there and my mom got her dress there and has since gone back for special occassion dresses. If the dress doesn't fit, they make it fit perfectly and will tell you honestly which styles they feel flatter your figure. My bridesmaids were able to buy their dresses from a cancelled wedding (their loss our gain) for only $50 with a $25 alteration cost which only 2 of the girls had to pay since they were 2 piece dresses and fit better than the one piece. The color was perfect for our wedding so it was lucky that this happened, but the regularly priced dresses are still cheaper than everywhere else. And after you shop, there is a Portuguese restaurant 2 doors to the left that has cheap eats and very large portions--you'll want to share!
These ladies are a true gem to a bride looking for great service, great prices, and incredible quality. My gown was a corset back and from the time I ordered it until the wedding I lost 60 lbs. The last month before the wedding they had to alter the dress once each week and there were no issues. The quality of their work is above average and you can tell that they take pride in their work and it is not just a money making business, it is a passion.
Very great suits. Little expensive but worth it.
Gilda's was very pleasant to work with. Tried on lots of dresses and came in many times. They were helpful every single time. Alterations were great as well.
My dress was amazing and the service was great!
First of all, I had a small budget, but I had a particular dress in mind. Figures it was way over one or 2 grand everywhere I went! I heard bad things about Davids bridal, and I wanted to stay local if I could. When I walked in there was a pretty good mix of sale or discounted dresses. They weren't damaged, I guess it was just "last season" or whatever. I went through - and there was my dress!!! For under $300 ! I was so happy until I put it on. it was 3 months till the wedding and the bottom didnt fit - I had to lose weight - fast! The girl didn't think I could do it (the owner did) so I put my money down and started working out! I went for my fittings - these women were so great! They are Portugese - like me, so I felt so at home! They have a beautiful selection of veils, although mine was being handmade, They let me pick out the veil most like the one I was getting and put it on with the dress to make sure it looked good.
These women NEVER treated me any less or gave my any less service than the women who were paying full price for their dresses. I recommend them HIGHLY! If you are in or near Fall River, you'll love the local feel - with a nice wide open space and plenty to choose from! When I bought from there, they were doing lay-away. I believe they still are.
Oh did I mention they had to alter the dress and my wedding was LESS than 3 months away when I finally found my dress? They did it with a smile!
