Reviews for Golden Sounds Entertainment
I'm sorry if other reviewers had a bad experience, but I had an awesome experience with Steve and Golden Sounds! We didn't use him for a DJ since we had a live band, but Steve was great with our reception lighting. The venue was gorgeous and he definitely threw in waaaay more lights than we paid for. Steve went the extra mile to make everything beautiful, from the uplighting to the gobo lights for the dance floor. Steve was there for the set up so we got to see him and thank him right before our grand entrance.
The entire planning process with Golden Sounds was great. Our initial meeting with Steve was cancelled last minute, but he went out of his way to meet with me while I was in town on Christmas eve (I'm from DC and was only in CA for the holidays). We met with him a second time before the wedding for a walkthrough of the venue. Steve was always prompt, extremely professional and responsive to all my emails and phone calls. The end product speaks for itself (I'll have pictures up in my bio soon).
Thank you, Steve!
Sorry to all the others who had problems with Steve, but my husband and I loved him! He did our ceremony and reception music and lighting. The ballroom was gorgeous with a fuchsia ambiance and he definitely kept the party going all night by making sure everyone was on the dance floor. Even my grandma danced the night away! He did a great job and was worth every penny! He was easy to get a hold of and returned all of my calls and emails.
If there was a way to give zero stars I would!! The "owner" Steve Wemmer, was THE WORST!!! It took me over 2weeks to get in contact with Steve after I had given him my deposit several months before my wedding. My wedding coordinator finally got a hold of Steve 2 days before my wedding!! I was freaking out!! I would call Steve from work and from my cell phone and he wouldn’t answer the phone. So after 2weeks of calling, I decided to go to a friend’s house out of the area and call from her phone. What do you know, he picks up!! I should have known not to use him, when he was a no show to our initial meeting at my wedding venue! He ALWAYS has a family emergency (his excuse for not showing up or not calling you back). I paid $350 for a custom gobo with my husband and my name on it and NEVER got it at my wedding!! I paid for a projector and screen, and the projector did not work! I paid for LED lights and I got the regular can lights! If I never see this dude again it will be too soon. If you’re stupid, go ahead and use him. But if you have any sense at all you will not!! I will post this comment on EVERY website that I can so that other brides will not get stuck with such a looser of a business as Golden Sounds Entertainment!!!!
My plan all along was not to have a DJ, and to use my iPod for music and our ushers as emcees. What we needed was the sound equipment. We contacted a few places, but all of them (except Golden Sound) would not let us rent their equipment without the use of a DJ. Steve came through for us and was so nice about it.
There was a little confusion at the beginning, that he wasn't sure if he was supposed to emcee or not. He came around a little frazzled asking for the wedding party names, dance songs, etc. We got it straightened out and he was very understanding that we had it all taken care of.
Not only did he allow us to use his sound equipment, but he also brought along a lot of lighting for the room. It was something I hadn't thought about at all, but it really made the room look more elegant and decorated.
Thanks for all the help!
Steve Wemmer of Golden Sounds Entertainment was our DJ/MC for our wedding. During the planning process, he was very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. He even met with us at our venue a few times to go over the lighting and room layout. We had researched several DJs and we ended up booking Steve because we liked his personality/energy and he offered us a great price for sound + lighting. At times, it was a bit hard to reach him by phone, but he always managed to get back to our messages. On our wedding day, he was very professional and did an excellent job setting up the lighting and sound equipment. The only reason we give him 4 out of 5 stars is because there were a few things that were on our schedule that he didn't follow or forgot (my FIL was supposed to give another welcome speech, prayer before meal, centerpiece game). But overall he did a great job and he got many of our guests on the dance floor, which was important to us. He made sure people were having a good time and played most of the songs we requested, except during the open dancing (I think he was judging the crowd and played what he felt was appropriate, but I would have preferred to hear some newer songs on our dance list). He was also good about following our do-not-play list. Steve is a very nice guy and he goes out of his way to try to make his clients happy. I would recommend Steve to any bride looking for a great DJ with good customer service.
Steve Wemmer is a scam! Brides, please do not make the same mistake I did and use him in your bridal planning. I had a wedding in July 2009. I signed a contract with Steve Wemmer months before the wedding- for lights and a dance floor only. He requested $1000 deposit in cash or check, which I gave him, and we signed a contract for the above. Afterwards, he never returned my phonecalls or emails. When I emailed him threatening to cancel my contract, he wrote back saying his dad was sick and he was sorry. Therefore, I felt bad about it and decided to give him another chance. We then scheduled a meeting at the hotel venue to go over the lighting scheme. I was living in SD then and have to drive to LA for this meeting. And he never showed! I called him many times and his phone wouldn't accept messages. I emailed him afterwards stating that I do not trust him and don't want to work with him. I asked for the deposit back but of course I have never gotten it. He never answered his cell phone or emailed me back afterwards.
I finally got a coordinator and she called him (using a different number) and he answered! He said he felt really bad about what he did and that he would definately give us back the money. He has not sent us anything and it's been a year now. We moved and changed our number and called him, and what do you know? He answers. He's quite surprised to hear it is us and my husband confronts him and tells him to give us back the deposit and what does he say? He says he's not Steve Wemmer on the phone! He says he's the "brother" of Steve Wemmer and yes, he thinks he remembers Steve telling him that "he sent a check 2 days ago". That was a total lie and we never received anything. I cannot believe this guy!
The reason we can't just show up to his office and demand the money is because his "office" is a room he rents in a building in Costa Mesa. He uses this room to meet clients and sign contracts, but he's not there regularly. We've showed up to this office trying to find him but he wasn't there that day. The reception people on his building floor didn't even seem to know who he was.
We are now in process of taking him to small claims court and have contacted the Better Business Bureau about him. Do not give your money to this man! Steve Wemmer and his 'Golden Sounds Entertaiment' is a total scam!!!
I strongly urge you to not meet with this company. Steve Wemmer the owner was the Dj for our wedding back in April. Everything went wrong that could go wrong. He didn’t have the line up for the bridal party’s entrance. Once we were announced in the reception room he could not find the song for our first dance so we stood there for a couple minutes before we had to just go sit and start dinner early. The night went on and nothing from our long list of songs me and my husband had put alot of thought into were played. Song requests were made by myself, family and friends and most were ignored. The music played was out dated and nothing even close to what we had discussed in our meeting.
He was rude and most of the guests I have seen asked if maybe be was on some sort of illegal substance. I am not exaggerating this in any way so please don’t make the mistake we did.
Last but not least he ended our party an hour early. He started announcing that the party was going to end an hour and a half early. When I returned from getting my comfortable shoes my guests were gone.
