Grand Gourmet

I agree with the other reviewers. Grand Gourmet overall is a terrific caterer. They are a little flakey, and work on their own schedule, but if you have patience, and are comfortable leaving all the details in their hands, you\'ll be fine. The food was incredible. The food at the wedding was just as good as the tasting. And boy is there a lot of food. We had about 90 people, total cost of a little over $8k. 4 Passed aps, crudite, sit down dinner with sorbet, wedding cake and a closing station of sliders and french fries. What ever you do, DO the sliders! We had several phone calls the next day asking who the caterer was because they wanted to order the sliders! No joke, they were that good. Our guests were very impressed. Overall, being a control freak I was a little nervous, but the day of- Grand Gourmet was on top of everything! I don\'t have a single complaint about the day of. I would absolutely recommend them.

Felix was wonderful, though a little tricky to work with (not the most responsive at times). The food, however, was wonderful, and i received many many compliments on hoe good everything tasted! He was flexible and patient and really really easy to deal with. My husband and i are looking for an excuse to work with him again!

Felix has a really great catering company, and restaurant, Nini's Bistro, located in New Haven, CT. The food is exceptional, and he was very willing to work with our budget and our tastes. For about $85 a head, we were able to have 6 passed appetizers, stationary crudite and cheese tables, a salad course, a sorbet course, 3 entree plated dinner (filet, chicken, salmon) and a huge dessert spread featuring a chocolate fountain. Three days before my wedding, my chair cover company had cancelled our order because they had run out of covers- another story in itself- but one call to Felix, and within an hour, he had located the same style for a comparable price and took care of picking them up and his staff assembling them on the chairs.

Overall, it was a great experience, and I would recommend his company, but there were a few small problems worth mentioning. As part of our contract, we were supposed to have been given a "picnic basket" with goodies to snack on later in the night at the hotel, and a bottle of champagne. Well, our bartenders gave us the champagne, but the basket never showed up. It's one of those things that you realize in retrospect that you never got, but it's the least of your concerns at the end of the night! We caught several of his servers stealing things from us- flower vases, wedding favors, and bottles of water we had at the door for our parting guests. Also, we had kept a Calphalon pot in the kitchen to hold the flowers, and the head chef said that he would keep an eye on it. It vanished by the end of the night and Felix has yet to return the phone calls I've made to him in hopes of locating it. Even after tipping him 25% at the end of the night, you would think that he would have the decency to own up to not finding it...
