This was amazing place to have my wedding at! I would recommend this for any event, not just a wedding! Made my dream wedding come true x100! I couldn't have wished for better service and the food was amazing! The place is affordable for even a poor college student like myself who payed for most of the wedding!

For those looking for a unique and beautiful location for a ceremony and reception, the Grand Volute was a wonderful find for us. We were extremely happy with how our wedding and reception came together, due very much to the Volute's staff, who did an incredible job in a short period of time.

With guests coming from the across the state and country and late timing to meet a Naval schedule, the Volute’s ability to pull together our wedding so quickly was invaluable. Jan and Kent did an amazing job answering questions, leading the process, and coming up with nice touches we wouldn't have considered. More impressive is that they are so organized is that they were able to do so with only minimal time to meet with us.

Our wedding day was absolutely fantastic. My 91-year old grandfather who can have high expectations told my parents that he has been to many weddings, but ours was the most beautiful with the finest food. His comments were reflective of those that we received from many of our guests, without a single complaint. In fact, the consistent themes were "best food", "most beautiful", and many who appreciated a wedding with the reception at the same location.

We could have spent many months and expended much more energy trying to replicate what the Volute's staff has made relatively effortless--and we wouldn't have done as good of a job! From the bride’s entrance down the grand staircase, to extraordinary food and service, and an owner checking in personally throughout the night, we were afforded a day we will always cherish. This glosses over the beautiful ballroom lighting, integrated sound systems (no ugly speakers and cords), drop-down 15' video screens, the grand piano, bar service, bride & groom suites, etc.

For us, the most important aspect was not to think of it as just "our day", but to provide a wonderful night for those who have meant so much to us throughout our lives, and thanks to the staff of the Grand Volute, we hope we did.

I cannot say how absolutely wonderful our experience with Grand Volute Ballrooms was for our daughter's wedding! From our first consultation with Jan Herb to the final moments of the reception, we were treated wonderfully! With a MI winter wedding we wanted to provide the easiest and most convenient wedding celebration for our guests and so decided to have both the ceremony as well as the reception at Grand Volute. We could not have made a better decision! The event flowed like clockwork!
Our wedding party of 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen and 2 ushers was very comfortable in the well appointed upper "dens" designated for each. The staff, the venue, the décor, the pianist, the vendors offered in the package program were ALL wonderful....now, can we talk food?!...EVERY SINGLE table I visited, as the mother of the bride said, "This was the best wedding meal ever" :) Book them NOW!

I would strongly recommend any engaged couple who are looking for a venue to celebrate their wedding to contact Grand Volute first - and they won't need to look anywhere else. You will NOT be disappointed in your choice. Wow !!! The professionalism of every staff member, the decoration and ambiance of the entire structure, the quality of the food, the attention to every detail by Angela and Kent, THE STAIRCASE.....I could write a not-so-short book about our daughter's memorable and joyous wedding day.....and much of the credit goes to Grand Volute. As the bride's father, I can easily say that we had the very best possible experience with Grand Volute and I recommend them 1001% to any and all who have a need for a venue to celebrate a special day.

Our wedding was wonderful thanks to the Grand Volute! We looked all over the country to find the right place for this special day and once we found the ballroom we never looked back. It was the place that offered us everything we wanted and more...and even better...it fit our budget! Angela and Kent did everything to make our day so special. Every time we met with them, they were professional and friendly and did everything they could to make our day about us. The vendors they partner with are amazing, and we had to rely on their expertise a lot since we were not from the area. Every vendor that the Grand Volute recommends is top notch...from the cake to the food to the decorations to the flowers to the photographer. We were not disappointed in anything! We are so thankful for the Grand Volute....every one should get married there!!

Our daughter Sarah got married at the Grand Volute last Saturday - what a wonderful day! From the initial meeting with Kent McKay to view the facility and to start the planning process, it was smooth sailing all the way. Any and all of our questions and concerns were answered in a timely manner. The facility is absolutely gorgeous! The packages available made it possible so you don't have to hire and worry about all of the vendors. We had the wedding and reception all in one place - an absolutely beautiful venue! 1. The planning session were helpful and useful 2. The DJ Great 3. The wedding officiant phenomenal! 4. The food outstanding 5. The staff superb! 6. EVERYTHING made the day even more special. We were all very pleased with the Grand Volute and if we had any more children to get married we wouldn't hesitate to go there again!

Our wedding was beautiful! We had a smaller wedding so we had our ceremony in the Ballroom. The staff was easy to work with, and anytime there was an issue the owner, Kent, was more than happy to assist in resolving the matter. My husband and I just got stuck in the middle of several changes at Grand Volute so we had many hiccups along the way, but they were all resolved in a positive and pleasant manner (I think that is the MOST important thing).

I would have given them a perfect score with the only exception being that I was not happy with how unprofessionally the first coordinator we had was when she left Grand Volute. She never notified us that she was leaving then when I tried to contact her with questions, I was told then (by the new coordinator) that she no longer worked at Grand Volute and that she would be handling our event. I just didn't think that was very professional of their employee.

Honestly, our wedding day was beautiful, things were handled well, and they really do provide the BEST vendors to you. We would readily and have already recommended this vendor to any bride and groom looking for a beautiful venue with great pricing and awesome...

This is an absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding, and is located well for outdoor pictures. The planning process is very straight-forward and the packages provided take a lot of the headaches out of the planning process. We will remember this day for the rest of our lives, and that is in no small part due to the wonderful experience we had with Grand Volute.

This wedding was planned in less than 4 months. The packages offered at the Grand Volute made the planning process so much easier. Vendors for the cake, centerpieces, and DJ were all provided. We had a staircase ceremony which was absolutley beautiful! Everyone was very accomodating and made sure this was everything we dreamed of. If you are looking for an elegant wedding/reception with and trying to stay within a reasonable budget, this is the place!

the staff was very helpful, and made the day beautiful, very easy to work with them, they have wonderful vendors for table arrangments, cakes, officiants (Brian Vanden Akker did a GREAT job); DJ, I would highly recommed them to anyone! As the mother of the bride, I wanted my daughter's wedding reception to be everything she dreamed it would be, but I didn't have time to deal with all the details. The Grand Volute took all my worries away. Kent McKay and his staff handled everything beautifully. I was worried about 200+ guests waiting too long for warm food and where the waitress was to clear plates. Kent and his staff had all my guests through the buffet line in 20 minutes and tables cleared quickly. The food was all fresh and prepared on site by Kent's staff. I received MANY compliments from my guests that the food was AMAZING and it was the best wedding reception they had been to, of which I totally agreed! I likened this experience to that of an all inclusive resort...pay one fee and everything is taken care of beginning to end. The dinner and tableware, the cake, the D.J. and the friendly and professional staff was to be commended. Every detail was taken care of and I was able to enjoy my daughter and son-in-law's special day, one that I will never forget. Thank you Kent!

Kent was phenomenal and so was the wait staff. I never felt stressed. Our vision came together wonderfully. Our pictures are gorgeous and we couldn't have asked for more. There was a lovely young lady with braces whose name I never caught but she was delightful whether cleaning the bathroom or service dinner. Kent went above and beyond. Through the chaos of pictures we were brought appetizers. Kent even got the maids of honor a plate of crab cakes because they had missed the cocktail hour. Anything we needed was taken care of for us. Our wedding day was better than we imagined and it was all thanks to a maravelous staff at the Grand Volute. Maybe some of our photos will make the website! Just kidding! Thanks Kent and staff!!!!!

My daughter and husband had their reception here and honestly we couldn't have had better service, preparation, planning, food, entertainment, and to top it off the price was right! We would highly recommend this beautiful venue for a reception. Jan was so helpful and patient and very detailed about everything. She truly is a professional and very knowledgeable about event planning. She made us feel like we were her only clients each time we met with her or called! During the reception Kent gave us exceptional service. He made sure our guests were taken care of and checked in with us throughout the night! Everything ran smoothly and timely! All comments we heard from guests were positive and everyone had a wonderful time and loved the venue!

Our hors d'oeuvres hour and reception at The Grand Volute could not have gone any smoother. It was perfectly executed and although our event was almost a month ago, our guests are still commenting on our wonderful wedding reception! Every person we worked with at The Grand Volute was kind, patient, flexible and made us feel important and valued. The service provided by our personal wedding consultant, Jan, was exceptional. She worked with us to appropriately schedule and plan each happening of the night. On the day of our wedding, we felt completely at ease and comfortable at our wedding reception knowing Jan and the owner, Kent, were overseeing the entire event. We would recommend The Grand Volute Ballrooms to anyone!

Over all, it was a good experience. We had our ceremony and reception there. We had the staircase ceremony(around $1400) and the cheaper summer reception (around $8000)
Good points:
1. They did everything.
2. Staff was super nice.
3. They wanted to make everything perfect for us.
4. It was nice having most of the services bundled together, we didn't really have to worry about anything.
5. The food was great. They worked around special diet people and babies.
6. When we had an issue with tables, they fixed it right away.
7. They made me seem really special every time i called.

Negative/mediocre Points:
1. Our officiant was offended because he waited 5 minutes to start the ceremony (we were missing quite a few people) and someone at the venue told him that starting a wedding late was unacceptable. There wasn't another wedding planned, just a party that was like 2.5 hours later.

2. They never gave our dj our song list. He had to call me himself the day before the wedding and ask why we never turned one in.

3. When I spoke to our wedding planner, I was told our reception would last until 11. What I was not told, is that the dj package was only 4 hours, they allowed him to go on an extra hour, but then informed us at 9:30 that we would either have to pay for the extra 2 hours or he would shut down. The party was kind of dying down at that time anyway, so it wasn't too big of a deal.

4. Everything is an add on fee. The dressing room, more drinks, snacks, which i expected, but I was told to have a bowl of chips put out at each table a few hours after dinner for a 100 person wedding, it would be $400. It seems like they charge an awful lot for the extras. It is great that they do everything for you, but you will pay more than you initially expect.
5. The people who were renting the other side ballroom walked through our ceremony to get to their room to set up. While it was going on. I know that isn't their fault, but it was...

When my wife and I were trying to decide how to do our wedding and reception we went in with the highest standards. She wanted our big event to be a fairy-tale. I don't believe I have read a fair-tale that turned out half as good as our wedding and reception. Kent at the Grand Volute was the point man of all point men. He was quick with answering questions, very easy to work with (he had to deal with us, my parents, and her parents), and I knew our event would be perfect because of him. All details were planned out and went accordingly, the food was some of the best I have ever tasted, the staff was amazing, and our friends said they had the best time ever at our wedding!

The Grand Volute is a professional and beautiful wedding venue! The level of service and attention to detail is top-notch!

Our wedding was in the spring and so we were able to get in on their winter package. Along with being far less expensive, they hooked us up with a DJ, a 4 tiered cake from Mira Bella, decor from Decor Elegance, and delicious food. They also helped us find an officiant. They are expensive, but not only do you get the venue, you get a planner, and the wonderful owner to make sure everything goes smoothly. Our planner was Jan Herb and she was just lovely. She helped us organize our thoughts and was very flexible with our wishes. The owner Kent was just wonderful during the actual wedding. He helped us whenever we needed something, and was always making sure everything was just the way we wanted it. He was very professional and a big help to have around. The DJ was awesome, he made sure he had the pronunciation correct for everyone's names, and always told us what would happen next before he announced it to the crowd. He also made sure to keep the party going as we had a lot of people on the dance floor

Basically this venue is beautiful, professional, and if you get in on their winter package you definitely get your money's worth. The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't always respond quickly to emails, so if you need to ask something it is best to...

We were excited about Grand Volute because they had an all-inclusive package that was supposed to make planning easy (food, dj, centerpieces, cake, etc.). There were a lot of hidden and unexpected costs that we were unaware of, and the "package price" wasn't a very accurate estimate. For example, they include a 4-hour dj package, but when you finally sit down and time everything out, you need an extra 2 hours for a normal 6-hr reception, and 2 extra hours ran $300/hr. There were several other similar things that just added up that weren't "included". The owner quoted us one price for the ceremony, and then charged us an extra $500 and he was not willing to be flexible with us on the price at all, even though it was his fault he misquoted the cost. We had a lot of issues with communication and several of their vendors (pianist, dj, officiant) were not prompt with calling us back (with the exception of Decor Elegance and Mirabella Confections). Our experience with Decor Elegance for the centerpieces was awesome and Mirabella Confections (who provided our cake) did a great job. The planning process was an absolute nightmare, but the wedding day and its execution went very well. We had an awesome time, and everything turned out beautifully. The food was incredible. In the end everything worked out, but I wouldn't recommend this venue to a friend because the the preparation process was absolutely ridiculous.

My husband and I got married at the Grand Volute Ballroom on New Years Eve 2011 and the staff was AMAZING!!! They made sure everything ran smoothly and took care of everything for me. I did not have to worry about decorations, food, clean up, NOTHING! they really helped my wedding be as stress free as possible. I absolutely loved it here!

The Grand Volute is an absolutely awesome place to have your wedding and reception. I was initially attracted to it because, it is beautiful, but I also wanted my ceremony and reception in one location. Kent was our correspondent and he was wonderful! We didn't need a wedding planner because he was just on top of everything and made sure we had every last detail. We kind of wanted to do an unorthodox wedding (we were married on the grand staircase, had our dog be our ring bearer and had a dessert reception) and Kent and his crew went out of his way to accommodate us for the wedding that we wanted. I never had to worry about a thing from the Grand Volute's end for our wedding. The service was efficient, the food was delicious and the staff was very nice. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone! Thank you again Kent!!!

The elegance of your facility including the grand staircase, the ballroom with soft lighting, the bridal party table, and the presentation staircase took everyones breath away! Add me to the list of super satisfied customers! WOW! From the planning to the big day, Mary Ellen and the entire Grand Volute Ballrooms staff made sure everything was perfect. Honestly, I am pretty picky and a little controlling (could be a tragic mix for wedding planning!), but Grand Volute Ballrooms made sure I was happy, at ease, and that everything was done exactly how I wanted. The food was OUTSTANDING, the venue was BEAUTIFUL, and the staff was PERFECT! Throughout the entire event people were coming up to us saying how "amazing this place is" and how they "wished there was somewhere like this where they got married." What the guests don't know...I came up way UNDER budget. Not only is this place perfect, but it is super affordable!

My husband and I got married at Grand Volute Ballrooms on Friday April 15, 2011. Everything was absolutely amazing from when we arrived at the venue, through the ceremony, and through the end of the reception. All of our requests and specifications were granted and followed through with by the staff from beginning to end. The facility was everything that we needed and more and was set-up just as we wanted with so much attention to detail. We loved our table decorations from Decor Elegance which were included in the package that we purchased. Lisa was very adapting to the style and look I was going for and even found some special ribbon just for our event that matched the overall theme of our wedding. The cake through Mirabella Confections (also included in the package) was amazing in style and in taste!! We did have to upgrade on the package to get some design put onto the cake but it was definitely well worth the extra cost. We absolutely loved the officiant (again, included in the package through the Grand Volute). Ken was very personable, professional, had a good sense of humor, and knew how to take charge when needed. Finally, the DJ included through the package (Complete Music) did a fabulous job getting a feel for what we wanted and getting our guests up and on the dance floor...without being cheesy with those silly novelty songs like the chicken dance or the hokey pokey. The food through the venue was amazing as well. We had the beef tips with potatoes and carrots and thought the taste and presentation was superb. We also added appetizers to our package and (although we didn't get to eat any as we were out on our party bus with the wedding party :)) we were told that they were amazing!! Mary Ellen was very responsive and attentive to all of our needs throughout our planning process and through the end of our event. Kent McKay was great as well, being at our reception to make sure my husband and I were happy with everything throughout the evening and that our guests were properly taken care of. Everything went exactly how we wanted it to. Thank you Grand Volute for such a beautiful experience...one of the best we will have in our lives!!

Grand Volute is AMAZING!!! My ceremony and reception were absolutely perfect. All of my family and friends have told me it is the best wedding they have ever been to. I am so pleased with the results of my daughters wedding reception. When we sat down with the photographer he asked what she wanted her wedding day to be, she thought for a minute and said Perfect! There was not one thing that went wrong, Karen and her crew were on top of everything, it went so smooth and fast. She truly had her perfect wedding and we were really impressed! We have heard nothing but great things about the reception! My daughter wanted the chair skirts/sashes and I was against it but it was her day and when we seen them all set up-it really made the room look more elegant-very nice touch! The hanger steak for dinner was so good, lots of compliments on that also. I would not hesitate to tell anybody about our experience with the Grand Volute-a real treasure, we are very happy!

The Grand Volute Ballrooms was an amazing place to have our reception. I am sure weddings can be easily accomodating as well. The food is excellent, the service is accomodating and Kent and Mary Ellen will go above and beyond to get what you want for your big day. Do be aware though that both love what they do, so you need to be careful about how you make a suggestion. Also, be sure to ask if there is another wedding the day of your event...this is where things can become tricky and frustrating. Overall, our wedding day was very memorable and all guests walked away happy. I would reccommend the Grand Voulte to anyone I come in contact with.

Mary Ellen and everyone at Grand Volute were so professional. From the beginning of our planning Mary Ellen was so sweet and we always felt she wanted to make this day special for our daughter and son-in-law. She had many suggestions and ideas for things we would have never thought of. She told us she would do as little or as much as we wanted her to as far as hiring a florist, photograper, printer, etc. We appreciated that the night was planned out almost to the minute. After such a hectic day, I finally felt we could relax and truly enjoy the party. The food was excellant as was the wait staff. We received (and still are nine days later) so many compliments regarding the venue, the employees and the food.

The experience we had at the Grand Volute for our daughter's wedding was over-the-top! From the first time we set foot in the Grand Volute until the moment we left after the reception, we were treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism. Planning the wedding from over a 1000 miles away, I needed to rely on Mary Ellen's expertise and she was always more than helpful. Her knowledge and experience proved to be right on and our whole experience went beyond our expectations. The food was exquisite (we're still receiving rave reviews from our guests), and the servers were all so helpful and professional! We especially loved the way the Head Chef paraded the groom's cake around to all the tables so that everyone could see the fantastic job the baker did! All in all, we would highly recommend the Grand Volute and their wonderful staff for any event that you want handled as if it was their own event!

Being an overwhelmed bride and stressed to the max arriving at the grand volute, I was quickly reassured that everything would be just fine. They were very attentive and had everything set up as far as drinks and snacks in the bridal lounge and grooms den before we even showed up. The were always out of the way, but around when you needed them. It seem everything just went according to plan and turned out just how we imagined and hoped it would. It created a great memory for me and my husband which we will always be able to share. I am so thrilled with my choice of having both the ceremony and reception at the Grand Volute. It was so easy for people to go from one room into the next instead of having to wait around or find the next place they need to be. As dinner was served all the waiters we well kept and came out in a orderly fashion. Food was way beyond expectations and super delicious. Hopefully not for my husbands sake but if I ever were to get married again there would be no doubt in my mind where it would be at :). I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and as I told Kent the night of our wedding when all of it was said and done, it turned out absolutely perfect!

My reception was absolutely breathtaking... what a beautiful venue!

We booked in during the "off season" so that we could take advantage of the specials, which really helped us out. It included a discount and the use of gorgeous centerpieces that we "personalized" to fit our wedding. Just lovely.

THE STAFF
Mary Ellen is part of the package at Grand Volute offering suggestions based on her extensive experience in the industry. We were given multiple creative ideas as well as contacts that we used and loved. She is very organized and covers all of the small details. It allowed me to sit back and enjoy my day without worry.

Kent is VERY accomodating and thoughtful. He really makes you feel special and comfortable with the venue. We went to set up a day early and he heated the entire ballroom for us just so we would stay warm.

The waitstaff is unbelievable and so professional. We had a plated dinner and they were awesome to watch! In addition, ths staff lit all of our candles and performed some other "finishing" touches on the wedding day before guests arrived so everything was ready to go.

THE FOOD & DRINKS
In one word, this food is AMAZING. We had a plated dinner and served Boursin Chicken. It came out hot and steady. Even my husband and his "beef eating" groomsmen went on and on about the chicken. We had several compliments.

We closed the bar down for one hour during dinner. If I had to do it over I would close it down for half hour during dinner and do last call a half hour earlier than we did. Many of our guests took off around 10:45-11:00pm, so the last hour of drinking was not used like we anticipated.

LOCATION
Since the location is a little out of the way, we served a late night snack so that our guests would have food prior to taking off for the evening.

We also took advantage of the free shuttle that is provided to guests who booked at Hampton Inn & Suites on 28th Street. (Arrangement with the Grand Volute) This worked out perfect.

OVERALL
My reception was my favorite part of the day. I can't wait to get pictures back to see the gorgeous hall again. I recommend that all future brides meet with Mary Ellen and strongly consider Grand Volute! You won't regret it!

This was the most beautiful wedding! I was very pleased with the overall product and the service of your waiting staff (who were excellent). I have heard from many guests that "It was one of the most gorgeous wedding/receptions they had ever attended!" The food was also a perfect 10. I (the Bride) went up for seconds...how often does the Bride even get to eat!!!

On the other hand there were a few issues with one person specifically in the management staff. Thier professionalized attitude sort of "went out the door" at the reception. This was not brought to my attention until after the wedding of course as I was the Bride. But we thought we had already addressed these requests in previous meetings. For example, the ballroom got very hot...even the guests who were just sitting at the tables were "very warm" and complaining. Apparently parents requested that the air conditioning be turned up to cool the room down some. This, in my opinion was not a "out of the question" request. There were other requests made during the evening that were not unusual which were treated as if "we were asking for too much".

This is a wonderful venue establishment. If you are interested, make sure to go over some of your detailed requests and get it approved in writting before the event!

I would tell every bride everywhere that this is the place to have a reception. The staff was very personable and attentive and provided all we asked for and more. The food was absolutely amazing and I have heard from everyone that it is the best food they have ever had at a reception. The dessert buffet was a HUGE hit and all desserts were raved about. The setting was beautiful and the layout gave everyone plenty of room to move about. It was nice to have a venue that would take care of absolutely everything for us. I felt very taken care of from the beginning of the planning to the end of the reception.

The event went flawlessly. All guests raved about the food. "Best ever reception food". The venue is first class. The staircase made the ceremony special. All the staff were professional and courteous.

The Grand Volute and staff are wonderful. Mary Ellen, wedding coordinator at the Grand Volute, is very helpful. She brought up things that I would have never even thought about. The venue is beautiful so you don't have to go heavy on the decorations. Our wedding day could not have been more beautiful or perfect thanks to The Grand Volute.

Our August 29 wedding was perfect thanks to both Mary Ellen and Kent McKay,
we had the pleasure of working with both of them. We knew what we wanted the ballroom to look like and with their suggestions and our ideas the ballroom looked magnificent. They made sure that every detail was taken care of no matter how big or small it was.
The food was amazing, and the serving staff made sure that everyones needs were taken care of. We had many compliments on how great the food was and how beautiful everything looked.

Our Wedding was August 22, 2009 and it was absolutely perfect! The Grand Volute was beautiful! It is the complete package for any wedding and we highly recommend it!

The staff was very professional and went above and beyond to make sure that everything was flawless! Mary Ellen was outstanding in making sure that everything turned out perfect for our special day! She has such passion and creativity for what she does, which makes it that much easier on us Brides... because being the bride can sometimes be stressful. Mr. Mckay took care in making sure that our day was great, and he saved the day by fixing our wedding dvd.

The food was delicious, specifically the marinated steak, which is what we had. Soft, tender and cooked perfectly and served with a rich portobello mushroom sauce.

The organizers at the Grand Volute were open to new ideas and had their own creative suggestions. Our wedding had a wilderness theme and they let us borrow some unused decorations for creating a masterpiece on our cake table.

Another benefit to the Grand Volute is the elegant decor of the young building. Being only a couple of years old, everything is beautiful and well maintained. From the grand staircases which includes the detailed railings, to the exquisite chandeliers. The whole building is a photographers dream.

The Grand Volute was also very accommodating. We had separate rooms for the bridesmaids and groomsmen, so we could all get ready before the wedding and leave our belongings until the reception later. A nice little nook in the entryway for leaving gifts and signing the guest book. And, we also took full advantage of the dual bars for serving drinks.

Overall, the Grand Volute was an outstanding place to hold the reception for our wedding. We could not have asked for a better experience.

I would highly recommend Grand Volute Ballrooms as a wedding venue. We were extremely pleased with the level of service and recieved many compliments in reguards to atmosphere & food. We were told serveral times that food was some of the best that they had ever had at a wedding.

In many instances I felt that the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we had a perfect night (which we did!)

As an example, I have a brother-in-law who has done an ice sculpture at everyone of my family's major events. I was concerned about Grand Volute's willingness to accomodate him. However, I found not only did they allow him to do his ice carving, but they helped coordinate everything that he needed (which was vital seeing that he lives in Orlando, FL).

It's the small little details such as the one above that I believe seperates Grand Volute from the mediocracy of most other wedding venues.

Now, I would have a harder time believing a review if it was all positive, and in Grand Volutes case . . . . the biggest negative that I could come up with is location. My biggest concern with location is that there is not a well recognized hotel option within the city of lowell ( at least not one big enough to accomodate approximately 75 out of town guests). My concerns were laid to rest when Grand Volute organized a shuttle service to the Hampton Inn and Suites (Grand Rapids) approximately 15 minutes away. In addition, through a business deal I was able to decrease the cost of the shuttle service based on how many guest would be staying at the Hotel. For example, if I had 50 rooms booked over night, Hampton Inn offered to pick up the cost of a 60 passenger shuttle. All of this based on the suggestion provided by the Grand Volute staff. It was nice to know that my guests were taken care, especially after a night of drinking!

Once again, I can not speak highly enough of my experience with grand volute and would recommend considering their venue for your reception needs.

I would highly recommend this venue to everyone! Mary Ellen and her staff are excellent and my wedding wouldn't have been perfect without her help! The venue is just gorgeous which means very little decorating its ellegance is beautiful without decor as we did. The food was awesome and numerous guess came up to talk to me and said the food was great and the wait staff was always checking on you to see how you were and if you needed anything. The head waitress was awesome and also needs to be recognized for her outstanding promptness to all the events at GV. Like I said you will be very happy with this venue!

We were among the first to book with The Grand Volute before they even opened for business. We had some challenges working through early planning stages. Take the time to go line by line through the details, and say what you want. They are very accommodating to your needs, but you have to ask for what you want or need.

The food was GREAT! We did a buffet and I must say the steak was AMAZING and so was the 'Beverly Hills Mac and Cheese'!!

The space is huge and it made for a GREAT party!

My daughters wedding was beautiful. Kent went out of his way for us, for example he met my husband very early in the morning to give us my daughters veil because we had left it in the dressing room and we needed it for the hair dresser. The food was outstanding and very well presented. I heard from many of the guest that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Kent and his staff were just wonderful.

Grand Volute Ballrooms was an excellent venue for my reception, for the place you get a lot for your money. There is no other ballroom like it in the area as far as I'm concerned. Kent can be a bit of a perfectionist, but he knows what he is doing and makes your day run super smooth. The food was really great, everyone loved it, and the service staff was awesome. I would recommend this place to everyone. Beautiful!

The whole experience at Grand Volute was exellent. The food and service was first class and they accommodated us in every way possible. They also coordinated the wedding to make it a flawless event. They had the name and numbers for other services associated with the wedding such as hotels, florist, officiant, and entertainment. Our wedding was terrific and very enjoyable. We had no problems. I would definately say it was worth the money.

My wedding was May 23, 2009 and it was fantastic. The GV was a beautiful and impressive venue. The staff was friendly and the service was great. Mary Ellen is sweet and very supportive. You can tell she has lots of experience working with brides. My cake was a disaster! Mary Ellen and the staff there took it and fixed it up so well that I got compliments on it (it tasted good but was pretty ugly when it arrived). She was helpful in giving suggestions on places to take photos. My pics are awesome and so original and unique.

I was thoroughly pleased with the Grand Volute Ballrooms. You only get one wedding day; you should choose the best. I did!

Fantastic facility. Offers the option of one Grand Ballroom or a divider to split the ballroom in two. Projector screens, player piano, catering, table setting, table coverings, chair covers, sit down served dinner or buffet style, desert buffet, largest dance floor in West Michigan, sound booth and much more. Great staff will creat a unique atmoshpere specifically for you. I cannot stress how much the place fit my every need and how emaculate the facility is.

There are so many wonderful things I can say about the Grand Volute Ballrooms. They worked with me with all my special requests. The place was beautiful! They worked wonderfully with my budget and Mary Ellen was such a big help! I had my wedding at Grand Volute in November, and it was amazing! Kent and the staff were very accomodating to fit our needs, as we had a different culture wedding. "Magical" The Grand Volute by far is my favorite place to shoot on a wedding day. Being only a mile away makes "The Grand Volute" my home court, and I feel my business is blessed to even be referred by such a classy venue. The staff goes out of their way to make every wedding special for the bride and groom. The staff has never let me down as a vendor, and with over 10 weddings on their property since its opening I believe I have seen them at their finest.

The Grand Volute has done a tremendous job establishing great package deals and catering to the needs of each bride/groom. They food is always timely and the staff is very friendly and accomodating to all guests and vendors.

This is by far, one of the best places to have a wedding ceremony or reception! From the carpet to the crown molding, this place has got it all!
