Greystone was absolutely my dream venue. My wedding would have never been the same if we didn't do our ceremony there. We didn't do the reception because it's only open until sun down which wouldn't be enough partying for us. THIS IS AN AMAZINGGGGGGG VENUE!!! YOU HAVE TO SEE IT to really take it all in. My only comment is that there are a TON of rules associated with doing an event there and it books up FAST.

We couldn't have picked a better spot than Greystone.
This is a perfect location for weddings. We have so many beautiful pics.

Great site, this was one of our choice of selection.
But we needed a bigger location. This is definiately a awesome site fo wedding.

Greystone was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and exactly the backdrop we were looking for. Since it is a city-owned property/park, they are very strict on what can and cannot be done, such as no candle-light allowed and we must be done by 8pm, etc. That didn't deter us however and the wedding was wonderful - couldn't have picked a better place. Barbara was very knowledgeable about the grounds and gave us a tour then was there for the final walk-through. It IS very difficult to get through to her though - it would sometimes take 3 or 4 phone calls before I'd get answers back. Booking took a lot longer than anticipated and even getting a receipt to confirm our day was indeed booked took a while. When you're depending on the venue being booked before you could go forward with plans, this puts everything else on hold. Overall I'd certainly recommend Greystone - just prepare to be persistent.

Greystone has been used in numerous movies and has been the site of political events and celebrity weddings. We were able to pick our own caterer and had use of several parts of the grounds. They also only have one wedding per day. An absolutely beautiful site to get married. Our guests were thrilled. I could not have been happier.

Greystone was exactly the setting we wanted for our big day -- a very European feeling, quiet and elegant. The flowers were in bloom for our April wedding and the garden was perfect. We had our reception at the Courtyard, which was lovely. (There is huge construction going on right now up the hill next door, which is visible from the poolhouse, so you would want to check on that progress before booking that area. They only actually do construction during the week, but it's not very attractive right now.)
You do have to bring EVERYTHING in -- every chair, fork, glass, etc. as well as generators for the caterers. You have absolutely no access to the indoor area. I agree with previous post about Barbara being scattered. (Just get everything in writing.) But all the park rangers you have to deal with are awesome, especially Steve. They help you out so much on the day of the wedding, and help your guests, too.
If you have an afternoon wedding in the garden, think about getting parasols for guests, since the sun is very strong and the garden offers no shade at all. The park ranger said that usually if you don't offer parasols, guests end up going to their cars and getting their rain or golf umbrellas for shade, which ends up looking hideous in pictures!
I recommend Greystone highly. I hope we can afford to have an anniversary party there one day!

The day we were engaged, we were up at Hearst Castle. We wanted to get married someplace that evoked a similar feeling, but Hearst Castle just wasn't feasible for us. Little did we know that this hidden treasure, which is just 10 minutes from where we live, would be the ideal background for our perfect wedding. Most people who live in L.A. don't even know it's there! Our guests were completely enamored by the setting. The Mansion, which was built by the Doheny family, has a bit of a dark history, but that just adds to its allure. Everyone there, from the coordinator to the park rangers were quite helpful and willing to work closely with our full-service caterer. The place is a historic site owned by the City of Beverly Hills, and for that reason there were a few rules (such as no candles, no animals, etc.) by which we were quite willing to abide, since we are deeply respectful of the beauty of this gem. If you are seeking an outdoor, English garden type of wedding, Greystone is worth visiting!

+ you will get GORGEOUS wedding photos at this place - the grounds, landscaping and variety of scenery are all wonderful for photography+ plenty of parking+ not a bad value given the zip code- difficult to book- you will need to get your own caterer and rentals - and there's no in-house kitchen- the party has to end by 9:00 pm on Sat, 8:00 pm on Sun (big bummer unless you have an after-party planned)- strict rules

We fell in love with the Greystone from the first time we saw it... such an amazing, goregous fairy tale place. I could go on and on about how wonderful it is... but I'll let future brides know about the few pitfalls.Plan around the weather! Our wedding was in July and it was very hot! We knew it was a risk, so mercifully our ceremony was short! Also plan around the limited bathrooms there are at the Greystone so your guests are comfortable. The Greystone has pretty strict rules, nothing that upset us or that we weren't willing to sacrifice, but potential brides need to be aware of the restrictions. Barbara is extremely friendly, helpful and willing to work with you if you have something special planned, but there are many rules they won't bend. No candles! The cost is GREAT, but because there are no kitchen facilities you'll pay more for your caterer, so be aware. If we had to do it all over again we'd choose the Greystone again, absolutely. We love this place and would make many sacrifices to be in that amazing place!

This is the most beautiful outdoor location (IMO)! I was lucky to have unexpected beautiful 75 degree weather on my Dec 2nd wedding. I had my ceremony in the Formal Gardens, which was in full bloom with white roses lining the garden. It makes for beautiful pictures with the large fountain in the backdrop. I had my reception in the Pool Area, which can accomodate 150 people. This area is the most practical to have the reception since there are decent bathrooms and easy access to the huge parking lot. I was able to have the reception under the stars with just a couple of heat lamps for the guests.
The cons of the place is definitely the administrator, Barbara. She is a total scatterbrain, I had to constantly ask her the same questions over and over (because I always got different answers). Other than that, its super reasonable in price (I paid under $3K) to hold my ceremony and reception there. The other cons are that receptions have to end by 8pm and no candles are allowed.
The site is wonderful for someone who wants the freedom to hire any caterer, alcohol provider, any vendor that you'd like.

You will feel like Royalty in this extraordinary European style mansion. They have a very spacious garden with a large fountain for your ceremony. Reception is usually held in the Mansion courtyard. There is a view of the city during your cocktail hour. There is plenty of free parking for your guests. The best part is that the price is very reasonable considering that it is in Beverly Hills. The only draw back for some couples is that you must end your event early. They do have strict rules, however their site manager is easy to work with and very accommodating.
They only include the location, however Event Professionals can assist you with an all inclusive catering package which will includes all party rentals, food, cake, bar (byo) staff, reception coordinator to ensure a stress free catered event. You will need a dance and possibly a generator if you are having a band. Our company can assist you with all your planning needs at a reasonable price.
One of the factor for us when recommending a facility is that it is not complicated or stressful for the couple to plan. Even though this is historical location, we love that it is easy to set-up.
The video “We belong together” by Mariah Carey was filmed here.
Greystone is a great location with tons of shooting spots. very pretty and quiet location. If you can afford it go for it.
Beautiful location that is used in many of my favorite films. I shot a meeting for the Association of Bridal Consultants there in August 2008. You can see the images from that event here http://rmcphoto.blogspot.com/2008/08/association-of-bridal-consultants.html
