Hap's is one of those restaurants you walk into and know you're in for a special treat. Being a vegetarian and yet wanting to offer our guests a nice, traditional meal, the catering director worked with us and the food at our wedding was out of this world! We and our 100 wedding guests could've been eating on-site at the restaurant the night of our wedding instead of at the winery in nearby Livermore - the food is that good. I would highly recommend Haps if you're looking for a solid dinner the night of your wedding.
You can see my reviewof Deer Ridge regarding our venue. The food was Catered by Haps andROCKED and so did the service. So attentive! My only complaint was that they refused to serve my photographer's dinner while we were eating, because that way they'd be down when we were. They wanted to serve all the vendors after all the guests, and I had to personally request that they feed my vendors on time. But it is apparently industry standard, and since I didn't know this, neither of us could have anticipated it. If I had known beforehand, I would have given instructions on this.
But otherwise, they were extremely professional, attentive, and FLEXIBLE. We had a TERRIBLE experience with Garre and decided 3 months out from our wedding to cancel with them, surrender or deposit, and to book with Deer Ridge and Haps. So we had some pretty strict requirements we needed to be met (with regarding to service and food quality) and they met them and we so accomodating.
As a teacher planning my wedding during the school year, Hap's made my life really easy by scheduling appointments during my off periods and letting us wait to choose the final menu until the school year was out.
On the day of the wedding, the catering coordinator acted as wedding coordinator making sure all the vendors knew where to be and allowing me not to think about the details of the day. The food was excellent as well. We're still getting compliments from our guests about the entrees and the brie platter! We offered two entrees to guests - chicken florentine and portabella mushroom ravioli - and it's hard to say which was better as both dishes just melted in my mouth. I may be one of the few brides to have eaten a full meal at my wedding, but there was no way that I wasn't going to finish my plate it was just so delicious! The servers were wonderful as well - in addition to the great job they did during dinner, they made sure that my husband and I got something to eat immediately after the ceremony and as we were getting ready to leave they sent us on our way with some bottles of water. They were all so attentive to making sure that the guests were taken care of, yet they were not at all intrusive.
Haps Catering is the exclusive catering vendor for Deer Ridge Winery in Livermore. Their filet mignon and chicken florentine were divine.
