We have spent many of days in Fells Point, so when we got engaged it only made sense to look at venues in the area. We look at a few and many of them were newer and bigger, however, none with the charm or intimacy of the Admiral Fell Inn. As soon as we looked at the space and the outdoor pier we were sold. It was very easy to plan our wedding because they took care of a lot; from the food, open bar, linens, and candles. There were also many extras that were included, the cake (from SugarBakers!!!), a Roles Royce, the wedding suite, and free valet parking for our guests. I was a little worried when my original wedding coordinator left and I received an email from Kristina Yepes. I felt like I would have to start all over again from the beginning. But that was not the case. We met with Kristina and she immediately put our mind at ease. She took care of everything, right down to the details. She followed up with us regularly, worked with us on any minor issues that would arise and made sure they were taken care of immediately. She was AMAZING to work with and they are lucky to have her on board. Then we went for our tasting...yum! That is were we met Donna. Donna was one of the servers that night and we all just hit it off. We requested for her to be there the night of our wedding. And again, Kristina made it happen. Donna was my bridal attendant, and I must say, I have never felt so taken care of before. She definitely aims to please. I have so many guests tell me "the food is marvelous!" and "this is the best wedding I have ever been to." That is exactly what we wanted to hear. The goal for us was to relax, and to make sure our guests felt comfortable and had a ton of fun. The Admiral Fell Inn and their staff truly came through for us! They made our special day/night one that we (or our guests) will never forget! We are now just looking for another reason to throw a big party there :-)

Our wedding could not have been more perfect! Jill Jenkins, our coordinator at Pier 5 Hotel, was a God-send. She was personal, asked great questions, tended to our every need and want, and was instrumental in making our wedding the joy that it was at Pier 5. Especially, since we only called Jill and booked the location just 3-4 weeks before our wedding date! The view of the harbor at sunset was breathtaking! Every detail was exquisite from the wedding cake to the linens to the impeccable service. And, the cost was “eye-poppingly” inexpensive, too! We couldn't believe how much we got for so little money! Jill made sure to take care of everything and did it all with a huge smile and beautiful heart! Thank you so much--we could NOT have done any of it without you!

My husband and I had an amazing wedding at Pier 5! Lee Johnson was our point of contact and did a great job helping us plan our wedding. He was able to keep my husband's groom's cake a secret from him for me and it was so much more that I could have imagined!! Lee was also great at keeping me calm amidst all of the natural disasters that were occurring around our wedding day (an earthquake had hit on Tuesday and a hurricane was on its way). Thankfully our day was absolutely perfect! Our guests have all said what an amazing time they had and how beautiful it was!
Jill Jenkins was also amazing, she was one of our bridal attendants the day of the wedding. She put me and my girls in the most beautiful suite overlooking the harbor on one side and my husband and his guys in another suite on the other side. She and Donna (our other bridal attendant) provided us with everything and more that we could have needed.
We feel so blessed to have had such an amazing wedding that we will remember the rest of our lives!
Thank you so much to Lee, Jill, Donna and the rest of the staff at Pier 5 hotel!

We got married on August 11th, which was a Thursday evening, at Pier 5 Hotel. From the moment we went to see the venue in January, through and after the day of the wedding, the staff were extremely responsive and helpful. Our original Catering Sales Manager, Kelly, left mid-planning, and Jill took over seamlessly. I was worried about the transition but it was really perfect. Kelly and Jill were both very available to us for meetings, rehearsals, walk-throughs, etc.
We had our ceremony outdoors in the "Lighthouse Garden" which is a grassy area right on the water in the harbor. The set up was gorgeous, and the weather was perfect! Our reception was in the Harbor Club, which has panoramic windows overlooking Baltimore, so the view was spectacular.
The day of the event, Jill and other Pier 5 staff were there to make sure everything was set up correctly, guide vendors and guests, provide support to me and the bridal party...they were fantastic. They also provided me with a Bridal Hostess, Donna, who was by my side from right before the ceremony through the end of the reception and she was AWESOME and made sure I had everything I needed. She also prepared our bridal suite with candles, wine, beer for the Hubby, flowers, and all of our gifts so we didn't have to lift a finger!
Pier 5 also does its own catering and the food was wonderful. The guests all commented about how great the filet was, and also the salmon. In addition, the wedding cake is provided by Pier 5 via Sugarbakers, so it goes without saying that the cake was delicious! There is a DJ booth in the Harbor Club room high up accessible via a ladder, and only one DJ vendor is able to use that equipment, so we also used that company (Music Masters) for DJ services, and paid Pier 5 so really, food, beverages, ceremony, reception, hotel room, wedding cake, and DJ services were all provided by one vendor so that made things easier too!
I don't ever plan on getting married again (smile) but if I did, it would be at Pier 5. I can't say enough about how great they were and what a great experience they gave us. Maybe we'll use them for the kids' Bar and Bat Mitzvahs :)

Harbor magic @ Pier V really did an A+ job! Lee, was such a pleasure to work with. He wasn't our original planner however he picked up where the other had left off without a hiccup. He always had our best interest in mind and worked with all our requests! Lee took control the day of the wedding when the grooms cake fell, rebuilding and salvaging as much as he could as well as taking off, ironing and re-tying all the chair sashes that the rental company didn't bother to iron!!!! The entire staff as Pier V went above and beyond to make sure there were no worries on our big day and thateverything went smoothly. The whole process was smooth! Shout outs to Brionna and Ruth as well! Thanks everyone at Pier V for their handwork and making a memorable evening for me and my husband and our friends and family!!

We used harbor magic for our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. The food was AMAZING! Lee Johnson went out of his way to make everything perfect for us. I highly recommended any harbor magic hotel!
GUEST

We got married in July 2011 at the Harbor Club room. Everything was perfect. Working with Lee and Jill was great, they understood exactly what we wanted and made it happen. The food was delicious, the rest of the team was kind and attentive, the room decor was perfect and the view of the harbor is the best one you can find in Baltimore.
You will love it there!

We received top notch service from the very beginning to the end! The staff was able to customize our wedding and made all of our dreams come true! The location is beautifully and centrally located for off site activities! We loved and we give harbor magic 5 stars for excellence!

My husband and I can honestly say that we had the perfect wedding at Pier 5! Our planner, Lee, and personal attendant, Donna, were absolutely wonderful. They, along with the rest of the staff, went above and beyond to make sure that every detail was perfect. Our day was flawless, even with planning the wedding from out of state. We had a beautiful ceremony outdoors on the Lighthouse Garden, followed by a reception in the Harbor Club room. Our guests raved about the food, drinks, music, decor, and overall fun. Many commented that it was the BEST wedding they had ever been to! What truly made our day at Pier 5 and Harbor Magic so perfect for my husband and I was that we were able to relax and enjoy ourselves since the wonderful staff took care of our every need. The service was unbelievable. We couldn't be happier with Pier 5 and Harbor Magic Weddings! We truly appreciate their services and highly recommend Pier 5 and Harbor Magic weddings to everyone. Our special day could not have been more perfect!

Our daughter wanted to get married outside in downtown Baltimore near the Inner Harbor. We all chose the Lighthouse Garden at the Pier V Hotel. The event manager Lee Johnson was awesome! He made certain that everything was in order and the wedding started exactly on time. The chairs were set up as planned and they hung the pew bows on the chairs. Everything was beautiful. The cost was very reasonable too. A very nice touch was that lemonade and ice water were served as the guest entered the garden for a July Noon wedding.

My husband and I got married in June and had both our cocktail hour and wedding at Pier 5. We LOVED this venue! The staff was so great at taking care of all our weddings details. They helped ensure everything ran smoothly so my husband and I, our families and friends could simply enjoy. The cocktail hour and reception was on the water!! You simply can't beat the view. We looked at most of the Baltimore venues and Pier 5 actually has the best view the of the water. Our guests loved it! And with the sunset on the harbor we have some AMAZING pictures now. The food was also great. I loved the coconut shrimp at our happy hour and was so glad the Pier 5 staff saved me some to eat between pics and the cocktail hr. I highly recommend Pier 5!
GUEST

On June 3, 2011 we had our daughter's ceremony and reception at Pier 5 Hotel. This was truely a wonderful experience. It was stress free and very organized by Lee Johnson and his staff, especially Donna, the wedding assistant. The food was out of this world. Our guest said it was the best wedding they have ever attended.

Lee Johnson took over our wedding planning after our initial consultant left the company midway through the process. He quickly tied up all the loose ends very professionally and in a timely manner. About a week before the wedding I started having a lot of questions come up and would email him more than a few times and he would always respond within a few minutes or hours which I really valued at a time when things started to get intense just before the wedding. One of the reasons my husband and I chose Harbor Magic was because we wanted the 'all inclusive' type ceremony/wedding package where we really didn't have to worry about a whole lot. In doing this we wondered if our wedding would seem like a catalogue choice, especially since Harbor Magic did 7 other events (weddings and formal dances) the weekend we got married, but we still truly felt ours was perfect and unique to us. The food, service, decor, and event timeline were seamlessly executed to our exact specifications and we wouldn't change a single thing about our night. Day of the wedding, Lee was incredible. He practically bent over backwards for us....from mowing the ceremony lawn in his suit in the morning when the landscapers didn't show up, to negotiating with the decorator for the wedding prior to ours to leave up some of the decorations for us (very expensive floral arrangements) under the stipulation that Lee would personally take them down himself after our event, to securing an extra shuttle van for our wedding party photography session off site (we got married and had the reception at the lighthouse garden and harborclub room at sunset, but had pictures taken in fells point earlier in the day), to personally delivering a gift I wanted to give my groom (Lee took the gift from me while getting ready at Pier V Hotel, got in his car, drove to Admiral Fell to give the gift to my groom where he was getting ready), and also drove the second photographer to Admiral Fell along with him. The list could go on, but really, in sum, Lee never said no and when he said yes he made it happen instantly. I would highly recommend entrusting your special day to Lee and Harbor Magic if you're looking for delicious food, beautiful views of the water, and perfect service. In fact, when on our honeymoon, anytime my husband and I had ridiculously great service at our all inclusive resort, we would joke, "I bet Lee did that."
GUEST

Our daughter got married on May 28, 2011 in the Lighthouse Garden with a reception upstairs overlooking sunset on the Harbor. The photographs confirm our memories of a PICTURE PERFECT event punctuated by up-close and panoramic nautical scenery.
We worked with Kelly leading up to the wedding and Lee during the event. Both responded quickly to questions or concerns and were flexible and accomodating. Our suite of rooms allowed family, friends and bridal party to congretate in comfort and style. From hors d'oevres through Sugarbaker cake, the food was superlative. Several weddings took place throughout the weekend including two other events the same day. With the exception of our rehearsal running late, Lee juggled all with aplomb. Parking was always a concern, especially on a crowded holiday weekend. We tried to prepay but the self-parking concession was disorganized and frustrating. I wish we had budgeted for valet parking or found some tactful way to reimuburse guests with cash.
GUEST

We held both our ceremony and reception at Pier 5. Our ceremony was in the ball room with views of the Harbor and we used Dale at JJ Cummings as our florist. The reception was held in the Harbor Club with amazing views of the Harbor. I can not express how grateful I am to Lee Johnson at Harbor Magic for making our night so special. While Lee ensured everything was perfect Dale, our florist, made everything beautiful.
Lee was an absolute pleasure to work with and this was the perfect venue.
GUEST

We held our ceremony in their Lighthouse Garden & reception in the Harbor Club. This is the BEST location for a Downtown Inner Harbor Wedding...hands down!! It is a beautifully unique location with details you cannot find anywhere else in the city! We had panoramic views of the harbor for every moment of our day, it was GORGEOUS! The sun was setting during our first dance. The photos are amazing! Even over a month after our day, guests are still saying it was the most fun wedding they'd been to! They LOVED, LOVED the food stations & cocktail hour menu; the DJ recommended by Harbor Magic was great with the crowd & kept people dancing all night; And I cannot say enough about the staff! Lee Johnson worked with us on making every detail happen, stayed flexible with our budget while we planned & gave us an amazingly perfect day! He personally made sure every decoration I made & planned for was set out just how I wanted...all while I was getting ready before the ceremony. I had nothing to worry about! The desk staff was great in dealing with special needs for some family members and our overnight suites were Amazing!! I would highly recommend them to all Brides!

My husband and I had our ceremony and reception at the Admiral Fell Inn. The hotel is in a great location with great views from the balcony. The wedding packages include lots of extras, which was a big reason why we chose this venue. Christina was a pleasure to work with and was always very responsive every time a question or issue came up during the planning process. She helped us create a fabulous brunch menu for our reception. On our wedding day, both Christina and Emily guided us through everything so that we didn't have to worry about anything at all! We had so much fun at our wedding as did all of our guests. Everyone keeps telling us how much fun they had at our wedding and what a great venue the Admiral Fell Inn was. All of the staff at the Admiral Fell Inn were wonderful!
GUEST

We recently had our wedding reception at Pier 5 hotel and our experience there was fantastic! The hotel is beautiful, the food was incredible, and Lee was such a pleasure to work with. From start to finish, everything went so smoothly and every detail we planned was met. We really could not have been happier with everything! Great experience!
GUEST

We had an absolutely PERFECT wedding reception held in the Harborview room. We were able to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the Inner Harbor while watching the sailing ships pass by and during the night, the lights of the city reflected on the water. This room has got to be seen to truely appreciate the beauty of it's unique location. Our guests were very impressed. I worked with Lee Johnson from start to finish. He made it all so easy. I really did not stress over anything. From planning, pricing, food tastings, cake tastings, venue decor, DJ, hotel rooms and a custom website, Lee handled it all and kept us within budget. My questions were always answered, usually within the same day if not the next. Our menu was filet mignon and chicken chesapeake. Absolutley delicious!! Many of our guests told us this was the best "wedding" food they ever had. The filet rivaled the best steak houses in Baltimore and the imperial sauce over the crab and chicken was superb. Butler served appetizers were also of an upscale quality and were abundant. The red velvet wedding cake was provided by the house bakery, Sugar Bakers. We used the house DJ services who emceed the wedding. He was professional but also a lot of fun. We had many comments about the reception feeling like a big party instead of the usual boring reception and that was the effect we wanted. The staff was great. Ruth was in charge of reception that night. She was always around and checking to see if there was anything we needed. Emily was assigned to take care of the bride and groom only. She was the BEST. On such a special day it was nice to have someone making sure your drink was full, greeting the wedding party upon arrival, showing them to the wedding party suite, making sure they had appetizers waiting, getting luggage to your room, packing up the presents, repackaging cake knife, cake topper and toasting flutes. She took care of it all. She was a bride and groom's best friend for the day. So helpful and so nice. I cannot say enough good things about the Pier 5 and it's staff. They truly made it a PERFECT wedding day.

We had our wedding for about 75 people at the Admiral Fell Inn in November 2010. It was a stunning, perfect venue. Our guests cannot stop gushing about what a beautiful, fun wedding we had. We chose the Admiral Fell Inn for several reasons: because it is such a unique, quintessentially Baltimore setting, and because they really provide a one-stop-shop. I didn't have to deal with 50 individual vendors for cake, food, chair covers, table cloths, lighting, etc. The AFI takes care of nearly everything for you, and Christina was a joy to work with -- very responsive, very patient with my constant questions. Though we only had less than five months to plan, she made sure everything went smoothly. We had our ceremony outside on the Bond Street Pier, and even though it was a little chilly, it was so worth it. The setting was stunning, and our photos are indescribably beautiful. So much better than a stuffy church or other indoor setting! The reception went perfectly. I had prepared myself for everything not to be absolutely perfect, but it was. The food was great -- the crab cakes were an excellent example of true Maryland crab cakes; the filet was tender and cooked beautifully. Appetizers at the cocktail hour were fresh, delicious and plentiful. The bartenders were friendly and knew what they were doing -- I never saw more than two people waiting at the bar at any one time. Donna, our bridal hostess, was amazing. She was so helpful and made certain that my groom and I had everything we needed at all times, without being intrusive. The reception began at sunset, and I'll never forget the beautiful lighting of the setting sun during our first dance and as everyone gave their toasts and began to eat. The space was set up perfectly for the size of our party. The cake, from Sugarbaker's -- the AFI handles the ordering, pickup, etc. of the cake -- was perfect, beautiful and tasty. Everything in the wedding happened when it should have. It went so smoothly, I still can't believe it. I can't think of one disappointment. We also had a brunch the next morning in the Stone Room, and it was the perfect way to say goodbye to all our guests, particularly those who needed to catch flights that morning. They could grab breakfast and coffee with us before dashing off the airport. And, perhaps most importantly, the AFI is dog-friendly, which meant our English bulldog could be part of the wedding from start to finish, even on the dance floor during the reception! It was a picture-perfect day I'll remember for the rest of my life, and I can't properly express my gratitude to Christina, Donna and the rest of the staff at the Admiral Fell Inn. Even the front desk staff were friendly and helpful! It was an affordable way to have a beautiful wedding with a very elegant, high-end, personalized feel.

Pier 5 was a great place to have a wedding. We truly enjoyed the experience that we had. I was looking for a place that could pretty much handle most things without having to involve a lot of different vendors, which worked well. Because the hotel worked with Sugar Bakers, the price of the cake was included in our package. This saved us a lot of scheduling to make sure the cake was delivered. All we had to do is pick our flavor and design and it was taken care of. Additionally Pier 5 worked with specific DJ's and they turned out to be really great, we had awesome music and they kept the play list to what we provided. Lee was fairly easy to work with, he was always very responsive to ever question/email. The catering staff did a wonderful job setting up the room and the meal was excellent. They were even able to cater to a few Gluten Allergies. I would highly recommend the Pier 5 Hotel for any event.

Our wedding at Pier 5 was beautiful. We got married outside on the Lighthouse Garden, and had the reception upstairs, in the Harbor Club Room. Everything was perfect and we couldn't have done it without Christina Hagan, our coordinator. She was amazing and helped keep us on task and stress-free! Communication was excellent leading up to the event during the whole planning process. For the day of, I had a bridal assistant, Emily, who was in training but you would have never known. The whole staff was excellent.
GUEST

Heather Johnson was great to work with. She always answered my questions in a timely fashion and I felt so confident that the day would go off without a hitch. I was right! Everything was beautiful and so fun. All our guests have said that our wedding was the best they'd ever been to! Thank you Pier 5 for an amazing venue and catering. The food was so awesome.

What an amazing night! This was absolutely the exact and perfect location for a New Year's Eve wedding and definitely a night to remember, for everyone in attendance. As soon as I saw the location I knew I didn't need to look any further. Christina was great, super flexible and helped me with every last detail. I put everything together in a little over two months and found it challenging to coordinate with family coming in from out of state and making ALL these decisions big & small but she never flinched. Her suggestions were thoughtful and most importantly she helped me do it all within my budget. The way they package everything together right down to the cake made it easy for me to plan in one place with one vendor. The food was fantastic and I heard many compliments on the appetizers during the cocktail hour. The view of the water and downtown made for a very romantic and chic feel. The staff was professional, super attentive and friendly. Donna in particular was assigned to me for the whole night which I found to be a nice detail and she took care of absolutely everything! I was so happy to see her the next day when she helped with the brunch we had in their stone room in the basement. very unique. The fireworks were just spectacular from the balcony and the rooms very romantic. Ours the night of the wedding had been arranged with champagne, rose petals, our favorite beverages and candles everywhere. Everyone had a great time and they thought of everything. I will never look at Fells Point the same way and can't wait to go back for our anniversary!
GUEST

We always wanted to have our wedding on the water at an affordable cost. Our evening was absolutely wonderful. Everything we asked for was done to the last detail. Special thanks to Heather, the catering services manager. She is such a pleasant person to deal with. And she's always on top of her job. The location was fantastic, the food was great (guests were already telling us that during the reception) and the rooms were comfy, clean and modern. The only downside is that if you have guests spending the night it may get expensive quickly between the room rate and the parking. After the wedding we went downstairs to Pizzazz and kept the bar busy for another couple of hours. We had breakfast with most fot he guests at the same place in the morning. Everything was just so convenient and magical. We hope one day one of our friends get married there so we can go back and have a great time again!!!
GUEST

We worked with Melanie throughout the process, and she was always responsive and professional, as were the other staff working during our reception. The food was exactly as it was at the tasting.
GUEST

The Admiral Fell Inn and their staff were amazing! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, making the day a success from start to finish! I would recommend this Hotel and Venue to everyone! The staff was very accommodating and took the extra steps to make this day a memorable one. The food was served promptly and was delicious.
Lee, John, Alexis, Emily, and Ted were ready and willing to take on any task. Thanks so much!
GUEST

The Admiral Fell Inn is an exceptional location for a great wedding ceremony and reception. The staff were friendly and got everything right. The view is beautiful and it is in scenic Fells Point. Food was great, parking easy.
GUEST

Pier 5 did such a wonderful job on the reception. It went without a hitch(that i'm aware of). Now the only downfall to the hotel was that our room had no hot water. Nothing like dancings and sweating in a wedding dress and then going to take a shower and finding out there is no hot water. We went upstairs at about 11pm or so and by the time it was fixed at 2am we had already gone to bed. They offered to move our room but lets be real who wants to wake up at 2am and change rooms when they are leaving in the morning around 6am?
GUEST

I cannot say enouph wonderful things about Pier 5. While they may seem a bit pricey for the bride on a tight budget, it is absolutly worth it!!!! So professional, polite, and willing to go the extra mile to make you special day magical! I give it 5+ stars!!!!!!
GUEST

I would highly recomment Harbor Magic to plan your future event. We are the groom's parents and we were planning a rehearsal dinner from Illinois. Lee Johnson was our contact for everything. We held the rehearsal dinner at Fell Point Inn in the Stone Room. We couldn't have been happier with the excellant food, the fabulous and friendly staff and the overall appearance and set up.
The wedding was held at the Pier 5 Hotel and was equally wonderful.
I can't say enough about the staff. They were fabulous.
They were always right there to help with any need that you had and to make sure that everything was excellant.
GUEST

We owe a special thank you to Samantha, Ted and their team at the Admiral Fell Inn for helping us to enjoy our wedding day on September 23. Samantha was incredibly approachable and helped us make decisions that would benefit all of our guests. While Mother Nature delivered a less than perfect day, the Admiral Fell Inn team helped us problem solve to have our wedding in the ballroom and scouted beautiful rooms inside the hotel for pictures. The food was incredible and each of our out of town guests left having a wonderful experience in Baltimore. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

I am soo glad we pick Harbor magic pier 5 it was amazing i enjoyed everything pier 5 had to offer .

I recently had my wedding and reception at the Pier 5 Hotel. Reception was in the Harbor Club room. Everything was excellent. The food was better then it was at our tasting. We had several staff taking care of us throughout the night making sure we had everything we needed. Although I had a new coordinator in the last couple weeks, Lee Johnson made everything work out just the way I wanted it! The hotel was clean, the staff was polite, and was always one step ahead.

The Pier 5 Hotel is a wonderful place to get married! My mother and I worked closely with Heather (the wedding coordinator) and she made my dreams come true. EVERYTHING went off without a glitch! They provide a "planner" of sorts the day of the wedding that helps the bride and groom throughout the day. We were told where to go when and believe me when I say that was an immense help. The whole day was STRESS-FREE! The staff is friendly and the waiters and bartenders were all extremely professional. The location is just magical. We had our ceremony in the Lighthouse Garden which is located overlooking the harbor next to the hotel. It was breathtaking!
GUEST

Heather is absolutely amazing to work with, she helped me plan my dream wedding. Pier 5 is gorgeous and I def recommend the harbor club! It is wonderful for an evening wedding!
GUEST

Our wedding for 80 people was held at the Admiral Fell Inn this past weekend, and it could not have been better! Christina, Emily and the entire staff took care of every detail and accommodated every request, including a vegetarian menu and custom alcohol requests. Our guests were as thrilled as we were with the quality of the food and the quick and friendly service. The room is perfect for 75-100 guests. It was too cold for us (40 degrees on March 26th!), but you also have the option of holding the ceremony outside on the pier. Our Admiral Fell package included a Sugarbakers cake, guest favors, gift bags for those staying at the hotel, and two champagne toasts. Thank you Admiral Fell for a fantastic day!
GUEST

Pier 5 was absolutely amazing. Heather worked closely with me and my husband the whole time during our planning- no matter how many times we may have bugged her ;-) the day of the wedding, everything was absolutely wonderful. Lee checked in with me to see if there was anything I needed- and at one point even brought me a mimosa!! The wedding ceremony and reception were beatiful- the venue allows for spectacular pictures. Everything during the reception was great. There were no complaints from any guest, and everyone said the food was delicious! We didnt get to eat, so Ruth made sure that we had a meal sent up to our room for later. Everything was perfect for our special day!!!
GUEST

My husband and I had our reception here on July 4th of 2009. It was amazing. Leading up to the event, the coordinator was always quick to respond to emails and calls. Pier 5 also set up a wedding website for us, which was one less thing we had to worry about! Our guests LOVED the hotel-- the whole ambiance in the place is just so modern, clean, and fun. If we could do it all over again we would choose Pier5 again!! :)
GUEST

We had our wedding reception at Pier 5 in the Harbor Club. It was a wonderful night and everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the view was amazing, the DJ from Music Masters kept the dance floor full. I would highly recommend Pier 5. Lee Johnson was wonderful to work with. Lee was very responsive to our needs and paid attention to detail.

We just got married here 2 weeks ago. We were able to book excellent deals for everything because we booked 14 months in advance and the inn also had a great deal of specials going on. We hosted the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception here. A great deal of our guests also stayed here. When we were looking for venues we really wanted a place that was a "one stop shop"...the Admiral Fell Inn was definitely this. We were able to take care of so many things all with one contract. They even have a deal with Sugarbakers so the cake was included (and was wonderful). Although we did at times have differences of opinion with some of the planning staff on the day of the wedding everything came together so wonderfully. All of the specialized wedding staff (banquet manager, bridal butler, etc) were wonderful and really helped to have everything run smoothly. On that note, Donna the bridal butler, was a dream come true! She helped to make sure myself and my girls were never dehydrated, hungry, or without a smile on our faces. The food was wonderful. Many of our guests could not stop talking about how perfectly cooked the filet was. Overall, the AfI was a wonderful venue and it really helped our vision of celebrating Baltimore come to life.
GUEST

I have been to Baltimore many times, and had never heard of the Pier 5 Hotel until I started looking up wedding venues on the Inner Harbor and there it was. It was the perfect location for our wedding of 90 people. I knew I definitely didn't want a boring ballroom, and the Harbor Club was absolutely perfectly with it's panoramic views of the harbor and a wraparound balcony for guests to enjoy some time outside.
The Pier 5 Hotel, and Heather Johnson specifically, is responsible for making our wedding day the most magical experience that we will cherish for a lifetime. From the moment we met Heather, we felt completely comfortable and confident in her skills and the dedication she would provide to us in planning our special day. Heather is certainly in the business for the right reasons -- because she loves "love" -- and that is evident in the special care and attention and constructive feedback she gave to us. Heather was extremely detail-oriented and made sure everything was planned according to a specific time line.
At the very beginning of the planning process, she was a little slow to respond at times, but when you think about it, she is planning a zillion weddings. You have to remember that although your wedding in six months is the most important thing in your mind at the time, Heather is likely planning 50 weddings before yours so you can imagine how busy she is. Rest assured that when the time comes for you to get the special attention, you definitely will! It helps to be extremely organized yourself so you can just hand things over to the hotel a couple days before rather than expecting them to put things together and figure it out on their own.
I even had a number of last minute changes and cancellations that Heather was able to accommodate. I really feel like she cared about our wedding, and even when she had a personal emergency, she stayed around to make sure we were okay, before leaving. The cocktail hour appetizers and reception food was absolutely fabulous (we served filet and crabcake)! I heard from a number of my guests that the bartenders were wonderful as well.
I definitely recommend the Pier 5 Hotel and Heather Johnson for anyone who is looking to get married at a unique venue on the water.

Pier 5 was great for our wedding reception! Beautiful room overlooking the harbor and the food was delicious! Staff did a great job. Everything went perfectly. I would definitely recommend it.

My wedding at the Pier 5 was amazing. The food was great, the location is perfect, and the catering managers were incredibly helpful in making sure I had everything I needed.

The food was great and the staff was very friendly, but they forgot some of our small details such as offering guests black napkins and removing tip jars from the bartenders.

The Pier 5 Hotel was very accomodating when it came to negogiating price. We were married on a Sunday, so we had some more leverage than a Saturday wedding. However, with the economy in its current condition, there are plenty of opportunities to get what you want for a good price. The sales manager we worked with was very responsive, but he did not give you the feeling that he truly cared about you and your wedding. Anything we asked was answered in a very businesslike manner with little assistance. If you have the choice, pick the female sales manager, we worked with her for two days before the wedding, and she is phenomenal. When making reservations with the hotel for your wedding party make sure you look online and check AAA costs, so that you can receive the lowest price for your out of town guests. The hotel was not the best at keeping up on these costs, and we found it quite embarassing to have some guests of the hotel getting lower rates than our party. Overall, the day of the wedding was fantastic. The Pier 5 staff was extremely attentive. We were even surprised by the suite that we were upgraded to for our wedding night.

Used the Bond Street Pier for our ceremony and the Admiral Fell Inn for our rehearsal dinner. Beautiful venues for both. Rooms at Admiral Fell Inn very unique. Hotel great location for food and shopping, but a bit crazy at night for older family (lots of bars/ parties).

Our wedding at Pier 5 was perfect. The Harbor Club is an amazing space to hold an event - all your guests will enjoy the beauty of the room and the gorgeous view of the Inner Harbor (even on a rainy day!). Heather Johnson is the Catering Sales Manager and is very good at her job. She knows exactly how to execute a successful event. Heather not only set up our day just as we discussed, but was also flexible during contract negotiations. Our guests were raving about the food, the music was great, and our cake was delicious - we had a truly wonderful day. My only complaint is that Pier 5 was very often slow at returning emails and phone calls - sometimes requests went unanswered for weeks. If you're handling all your vendors alone, this can be frustrating, but just trust that the event will turn out perfect in the end!

Catering Sales Manager was very helpful. Food was good. And a historic location to boot.

Pier 5 had a gorgeous view and we found the service to be excellent throughout the reception! They even upgraded us to a huge suite with a jacuzzi and bar!

We stayed with the Inn for our wedding night. The room was adequate, but no view. Any extras for romance (flower petals, champagne, etc.) were very pricey. The morning brunch was yummy, but costly as well.

We just had a wedding on October 22, 2011 at the Admiral Fell Inn and overall had a nice experience. However we do have some "Buyer Beware" issues. But first, the positives: The AFI is in historic Fell's Point, Baltimore, and provided atmosphere, shops, and restaurants for our guests staying at the hotel. The hotel itself has colonial charm and is nicely decorated. The rooms are somewhat small, and there is only a wardrobe for clothing, but hey--we coped. We had our ceremony at the Bond Street Pier, 2 blocks from the hotel and is a public grassy point on the more industrial part of the Baltimore harbor. (Extra fee, waived if inclement weather--make sure it's in writing.) But we liked that! The reception was at the AFI, and overall was a nice affair. Many of our guests made a point of telling us how much they enjoyed the food. (We had a complimentary tasting for 4, 4 months earlier and the choices are nicely varied.) There is an outdoor balcony, at the reception site but as it was a bit chilly was not accessed. We had 115 people and the main room is adequate, but a bit tight for the 12 tables, plus DJ, plus dance floor, plus cake table. There are 2 adjoining rooms where the 2 bars, gift table and candy station were set up. They also were used for the cocktail hour and were set up nicely. Their wedding package included: Complimentary rehearsal the day before, complimentary use for 3 hours of a Rolls Royce. We had a silver RR with uniformed driver which was very nice! It also included the wedding cake, done by Sugerbakers which was beautiful--we added ribbon and floral accents. The cake was delicious! Also complimentary gift bags with Baltimore-themed items--saved us from supplying those for guests. Nice touch! The bride's room was half price the night before the wedding, and the bride and groom were not charged for their room on the wedding night. The day-of coordinator did a good job, but with a LOT of prep from us. There was a "bridal hostess" who did not arrive until 3:30 (for wedding at 4:30) and was of limited assistance.
We also had a breakfast for guests on Sunday morning and it was nice, but very pricey. I would probably not do that again.
Now for the negatives: The coordinator that we worked with for 4 months, left (or was laid off or fired--not sure) so we had a new one with 2 months to go!! We essentially had to start over as there was no hand-off from the old coordinator to the new one. She just had a folder with the initial contract, and some emails.
For the final 2 months, we experienced multiple emails, phone calls, and a lot of frustration trying to nail down the details. As mentioned above, on the day of the rehearsal and the actual wedding, she did a good job, which was much appreciated, but it required a ton of work on our part to make her look good. WE did the work and passed on the instructions to her. I have to be honest, it was stressful for us and I never felt confident things were going to be attended to. (Maybe her style? Not sure)
The billing and accounting at the AFI is a NIGHTMARE! They tried on several occasions to ignore already-agreed-upon discounts, and added costs not agreed upon. Their billing system is IMPOSSIBLE to follow and therefore IMPOSSIBLE to know what you are actually being charged for. (My husband is a finance person and he couldn't figure out the billing). He went over things with the coordinator's supervisor, and (surprise!) she hadn't added in everything and so the bill was actually higher than what was sent to us. There was even an additional day of parking added on to the bride's room charge which we did not notice until after it had been charged to our credit card. And at the last minute, they actually added in some charges that they (oops-sorry) forgot to include! This was 48 hours before, to the tune of $500, and had never been mentioned in the whole time we were under contract. We agreed to pay half, though we probably shouldn't have agreed to that. On top of everything, they add a 22% service charge, plus some other vague fees. So just be forewarned--it's a fun place for a wedding, but will cost more than you think it will.
Recommend for a wedding? Yes, but make sure you get everything nailed down in advance and be prepared for $$ increases. Have a cushion.

So let me first start by saying I had a beautiful wedding. The outdoor space and the upstairs reception hall are gorgeous and you can't beat the views of the harbor. That being said there was a lot that should have been done that wasn't and for the price we paid - the day should have been perfect. First the ceremony space had old dog poop on it and my mom had to ask to have it cleaned. Second the microphone didn't work for our outdoor ceremony so no one could hear it - also we had a cellist who Heather(the coordinator) assured me wouldn't need a microphone - definitely did. Third everything was really last minute on there end - I had reserved seating for some of the family members and those cards weren't placed on the chairs until 5 minutes before the ceremony (doesn't do much good if everyone is already seated!), we had so much trouble figuring out where to get ready since the rooms they promised us weren't ready until 3:30pm which is when we planned pictures (Heather knew thats when we were planning to head out for pictures so it wasn't a surprise). Fourth we had to ask for appetizers to come out while we were taking pictures during the cocktail hour and then our day of coordinator told us she would wrap some up for us since we didnt get a chance to eat much of them and when we got to the room after the reception there was no food in sight. We had a ton of leftover cake which the staff helped themselves to rather than seeing if we wanted to take any home with us, as well as our sparkler favors! Finally we went out after the reception for about a half and hour and when we got back the room wasn't fully set up and the day of coordinator just let HERSELF and the MAINTENANCE GUY in with no regard to the fact that it was our wedding night!!!!! And the she had the nerve to take our flower arrangements home with her! Granted these were all little things - but when I called to discuss it with Heather she was like "what do you want me to say I thought the wedding was perfect". No sincere apology which probably bothered me the most.
Just so everyone can see that this is an honest review - the food was GREAT! The upstairs balcony was such a great addition and the cake was amazing. All in all I had an amazing day despite the issues that happened with the staff.

Had a great wedding overall, but the behind-the-scenes stuff annoyed me at times. For example, I was told that we would have the bridal suite at 11am and when we arrived, we were told that someone was already there and would not checkout until 12. When we had our makeup artist arriving at 11:30. Also, did not seem very organized at times. But the venue was absolutely beautiful and the food was great.

I booked the AFI, based on the location and having attended weddings there in the past. In the end, our wedding was amazing (due to the location, food/drink and good weather), however it was an incredibly frustrating process, and would only recommend to an orgainzed individual or provided they didn't use my main contact, Kristina. Thankfully, my job requires that I'm a highly detailed, organized individual managing many moving parts, one of which is producing events, so I was able to manage and micromanage Kristina, to help her focus on the details of my wedding. I provided multiple detailed emails, hoping a written record of items would help clarify any confusion/provide her with a point of reference, however she either didn't read them or didn't care b/c I had to follow-up with her then rehash my email. She was difficult to get a hold of, often unavailable. We didn't receive our final bill until two days before the wedding, and even the bill was confusing, never indicating the final amount due - which I was told to figure out myself. She assured me several times she would be available for our wedding rehearsal, however the day of, informed me she had a conflicting tasting (for a wedding that wasn't occurring until December) and wouldn't be available, never offering an alternate individual. The day of, there was little coordination, leading to mass chaos and my fiance and I had to end up coordinating much of our wedding ourselves. Thank goodness for Gene Michael (I believe is his name) at AFI, he stepped in when necessary assuring the band at the neighboring wine festival didn't interfere with our ceremony. Heather, my day-of bridal attendant, was incredible, as a saving grace!

The room and view were fantastic and the price was great but the service on the actual wedding day was disappointing. The hotel staff seemed to have no idea what the time line of events was supposed to be, even though I'd gone over it with the coordinator several times. I felt like I needed to direct the reception - an impossible task when you are trying to visit with guests and enjoy your reception. Very often throughout the night hotel staff were asking me what should be done, and my poor DJ was at a total loss as he was relying on hotel staff to direct the reception. The cake cutting was supposed to take place at 9:00 - at 9:45 (15 minutes before the reception was supposed to end) I had to tell the staff to start the cake cutting. Dinner was supposed to be over and the dancing should have begun prior to this, but that didn't happen. We ended up having to pay almost $1500 to extend the reception an hour so that people had a chance to dance. I felt like the hotel should have extended the reception free of charge because they had screwed uo the timing so much. The food was also disappointing - I had eggplant rollatini and the eggplant was missing and the pasta was so tough it was almost impossible to cut through. While the price was good (though I realize now that I got what I paid for), I would have selected this venue if I'd know how stressful the reception was going to be - I thought everything would be taken care of. On a positive note, none of my guests seemed to notice and many told me that everything was great, but I was kind of left with the feeling that I didn't get to have nearly as much fun as I'd hoped too...
I wasn't expecting perfection at all but unfortunately I wish I could go back and re-do the reception. It was stressful and disappointing - not what a bride wants after several months of planning. I had contacted the hotel after the wedding to let them know I was disappointed in the lack of direction at the reception, and all I got was a "thanks for the comments."
I also do not recommend this place at all if you plan to have more than 75 people. It was billed as able to accommodate 120 at 12 10-top tables - I had 110 and had 12 tables and my god it was so packed I could barely make my way through the room.

We chose the Pier 5 hotel for the PERFECT view and overall feeling- it was exactly what we wanted! But the further we got into it the more disappointed we got with the level of service. There were times that phone calls and emails were not returned (I wasn't calling every day!) and for a bride trying to plan this was very irritating! I realize that they are busy during the wedding season but some communication would have been nice. It was very expensive but we paid for the amazing location so we were happy in the end. If I had to do it all over I wouldn't work directly with their event planner again, I would hire someone to deal with that.

Such a disappointment. All the planning on our part and so little cooperation on the part of the hotel. The positives, beautiful hotel and grounds, menu great choices, cake from Sugar Bakers best we could ask for. The food was presented perfectly and all enjoyed it. Lee helped in many ways when he saw problems evolving the day of the wedding.
Here are the negatives: 1. The ceremony held outside had a picturesque setting but Pier 6 had a concert later that eve and blared music throughout the ceremony. We had been promised this would not happen because Pier 5 had a relationship with them and they would not play during the ceremony. Our harpist could not compete with this, nor could anyone hear words spoken by the bride and groom or the readers. This was 2 hours prior to the concert. 2. Heather who was the coordinator was extremely slow in responding to questions and did not keep her word on many requests. 3. The food service was extremely slow, although food good, took over 2 hours for all to be served. 4. Poor lighting on outside terrace, 2 lights were broke, attempted to fix after my requests, never done. the 2 bars were set up there. 5. Lighting in room was blaring bright all night, apparently they were not working properly and no one could fix. Ruined the atmosphere 6. Bathroom on main level for guests was unkept and we needed to ask for it be cleaned 4 times.
This is a once in a lifetime event, The staff at Pier 5 needs to remember that. Very poorly organized.

I had my rehearsal dinner here...don't do it!!!
After a really good and responsive intial customer service the day of my rehearsal the service was terrible. I had issues with food allergies which we had discussed and I was told to wait until the main staff "felt like coming to talk to me" and that if I were that concerned not have my guests eat. I'd like to think I am low key but shelfish allergies that require epi-pens for guests I take seriously. The front desk clerk also let me know, in front of guests, that our party was not their priority.
Later in the evening, I asked for a copy of the bar bill and was given major attitude for even asking to see a copy rather than just being charged. The main guy in charge of the bill told me "I hope you know you're going to have to wait awhile," and complained I was making him do work. He showed me by making me wait for over an hour for the bill. Then he gave me a total only and would not break it down for the bar. I found the total to be way more than I had expected and when I asked them to explain they said it was a standard bill in line with a 4 hour open bar. Since we had a cocktail hour, and wine and champagne was included with our dinner I found that really hard to swallow. I am lucky and my Mother-In-Law was paying. She said it wasn't worth the stress and more important to be with our guests since she was paying I left and we just paid as she asked. If you're not as lucky as I am don't go there.
The facility was beautifull, we used the Stone Room. The waiters and the bartender were very friendly. When the chef came downstairs to talk about allergies he spoke with one of the guests and was apparently very nice and assured us the food was safe. for everyone to consume.
To me it did not make up for the upper level staff treating us poorly.
Pier 5 gives you everything you want in a waterfront Baltimore harbor event - gorgeous outdoor setting for your ceremony where guests can enjoy a beautiful view of the Baltimore Harbor and historic ships and light house right on site; beautiful outdoor setting for cocktails and several options for a fun and high-energy reception. The staff does an amazing job of handling all of the day's details with an efficient, friendly and professional manner.
Breath taking views to wonderfull staff. Harbor Magic has it all. One stop shop for the not so intuned. A different look for the different type of events to be held at any venue.
