Our wedding was unique, beautiful, breathtaking, personalized, etc etc. Lois was a great pleasure to work with. Worry free. The ceremony site is awesome for picture sake, not to mention quiet, serene... just so peaceful and romantic. Perfection. We wouldn't change a thing if we had to do it all over.

Lois, thank you so much for such a beautiful ceremony. Everything was perfect and we were very happy with how our wedding turned out. The photographs of the ceremony are amazing. Harmony Gardens is a beautiful place.

Lois was a wonderful person to work with, both generous and enthusiastic. Her process is simple, worry-free, and relaxed... something I think anyone planning a wedding could appreciate. She is very flexible, and likes to build a personal ceremony rather than a cookie-cutter affair. Harmony Gardens is beautiful and quiet, great for photos. All together, Harmony Gardens and Lois Heckman are perfect for those who prefer an intimate, personal, and low-stress wedding.

This site was perfect! Lois went above and beyond to help design the perfect ceremony just for us. We are so grateful and highly recommend to all future brides!

Harmony Gardens is absolutely a place to fall in love with! The pictures online are amazing, but in person, the gardens and scenery were incredible. Our celebrant, Lois, was very flexible in every way, even with last minute changes. She even sewed my son's button back onto his blazer. The lot is good sized for parking cars, and there's also a separate building for the guests to mingle in, or use the bathroom, or for the bride, whichever you choose. Also, for any guests who have trouble walking down a few stairs, there is a flat walkway to get to any of the 3 circles of the garden. My husband and I highly recommend Lois and Harmony Gardens to every couple getting married.

We planned a small wedding inviting only our immediate family. We wanted the ceremony to be outdoors yet still feel warm and intimate. We also had to take elder family members comfort and access into account as well. In our search we found an amazing celebrant, Lois Heckman and ideal place to have our ceremony. Harmony Gardens met all our needs and more. The gardens are beautiful and were still vibrant with color for our September wedding. With the clear paths, access to the site was not an issue for my grandmother and her walker. We were able to take photos after the ceremony at various garden locations including the platform with Adirondack chairs on the pond. Harmony Gardens was the perfect location for our special day.
In addition to creativity & sensitivity, Harmony Gardens does a wonderful job of putting together a wonderfully personalized wedding ceremony for their clients. I provide sound reinforcement for many weddings each year, and always look forward to seeing Lois officiate a ceremony; she is a consummate professional whose ceremonies are always a wonderful blend of sentiment and humor!
Lois Heckman's Harmony Gardens are absolutely wonderful. I photographed a wedding there in the fall and it was gorgeous! The site as designed by Lois and built almost totally by her husband Kent. They have a terrific sense of style to make the gardens very peaceful and inviting. David W. Coulter Photography
I am so proud of our new wedding site - Harmony Gardens... it's everything I always wish for when I officiate! It's not for everyone... but for some couples it will be perfect!
About Harmony Gardens - Wedding Site
Harmony Gardens is a gorgeous outdoor ceremony site. It is a unique and beautiful place for your ceremony.
If you plan a smaller wedding and you are looking for a beautiful outdoor ceremony site - Harmony Gardens is perfect. When your guest list is less than 50 people, hotels and resort venues may not be a good fit. Or if it’s just the two-of-you,
you still deserve a charming setting for this important milestone in your life.
1 ½ hours from New York City, 1 ½ hours from Philadelphia, and 45 minutes from Allentown or Scranton
The gardens consist of three grass circles each surrounded by beautiful shrubs and flowers and connected by pathways. The symbolism of three represents wholeness, unity, and inclusion, and circles are a part of all human cultures and
traditions. But most importantly - it just feels amazing to be married in this special place.
Our beautiful arbor and altar rock provide the anchor for the ceremony, and chairs are set in the circle.
Whether you are having a reception or party at home, at a hall or restaurant, or simply going out for a meal to celebrate, you may be having difficulty finding the right location for your ceremony. Perhaps you plan a bigger event later.
Whatever the reason, it can be difficult to find a beautiful outdoor ceremony spot. This is why we created Harmony Gardens.
There is plenty of support space, parking, rest rooms and a rain back-up plan. We've thought of everything you'll need to insure a wonderful wedding ceremony. We are pet friendly and environmentally friendly. Celebrant Lois Heckman is the owner and will be delighted to officiate for you, or you may bring your own officiant.

FAQ for Harmony Gardens - Wedding Site
Three different size circles…
Choose one, or use all three in unique ways. They are connected by grass walkways. For example: the groomsmen might wait in one circle to enter from the side, the bridesmaids in another – entrances can be made from the side gardens of from the main entrance to the center circle. Talk to us about this and other ways to use the space.
The gardens are brimming with flowers in season, ornamental grasses and shrubs, trees and a water feature.
Two restrooms (handicap accessible) and an air-conditioned lounge directly across from the ceremony site
Access to guest rooms in our home for the bride (and bridesmaids) to change on-site if needed
Electricity at site, and convenient parking.
A rain plan – your ceremony will be on the on our veranda, which will be set up appropriately
Seating for up to about 35 people.
Eco-friendly (chemicals never used in our gardens, we’re organic all the way… recycling and reusable approach is encouraged)
Complimentary ‘water service’ on warm days – we provide pitchers of our great well water and glasses – no bottled water/plastic to dispose of
Pet friendly, too! Let’s talk about that.
Tips for outdoor wedding ceremonies...
Outdoor wedding ceremonies are very popular, and for good reason. There is nothing more delightful than being in the beauty of nature to celebrate your marriage. However, weather issues are obviously of the upmost importance when planning your outdoor ceremony.
I always feel that it’s the ‘in-between’ weather situation that is the hardest to deal with. If it’s raining then there is no question that the ceremony will move indoors. If it’s beautiful out, than the ceremony proceeds. It’s that threatening situation that causes the stress. And the bride, or the couple together, has to make the call. My own concern is always my PA system, which is of course, electrical and not exactly rain-friendly. I don’t mind getting wet, but don’t want my sound system damaged or anyone electrocuted! The same is true for the DJ’s or musicians on hand.
Here are some tips for successful outdoor wedding planning:
Rain plan - have a good one. Think it through. Picture yourself getting married in the indoor (alternative) location, and then figure out how to make it great. Candles, flowers, rugs, all can cozy up a less-than-perfect spot.
Umbrellas or blankets in baskets – this is a favorite trick of mine. If it’s a late in the season when it could possible turn cold – have lots of lap blankets available. You can borrow them from friends and family, roll them up and tuck them into some baskets to dress up the situation. Remind your guests on the invitation to dress appropriately for the season. Have shawls for your bridesmaids.
Tents – Although its unfortunate to have to pay for something you may not use, if budget permits, reserve a tent in advance. You just can’t get a tent at the last minute.
Check where the sun and shade will be at the time of day and time of year – there’s nothing more uncomfortable than having the sun shine directly into your eyes as you are trying to watch the wedding ceremony, and the same goes for the couple and attendants. Sometimes simply moving to a shady spot or changing the orientation of the chairs and alter site can make a world of difference.
Wind – Flower arrangements can blow over with a gust of wind. I love the iron stake type hangers that hold flower baskets, they really resist the wind. The baskets can be removed after the ceremony and brought into the reception.
Can everyone hear? Sound outdoors dissipates. For a wedding over about 40 or so guests, your officiant should have the use of a sound system.
Water and beverage station – for summer weddings have something available for your guests while they wait in the heat.
And finally, a couple of small points – I do not recommend using an aisle runner outdoors, especially in grass or an uneven surface. And women, watch those high heels – they can be very troublesome on grass as well!
I hope these ideas help you as you plan an outdoor wedding. And finally, your attitude will go a long way in helping you and everyone enjoy your outdoor wedding. If you simply come to terms with the most basic fact of life – that we cannot control the weather – and go with the flow, you’ll be fine. In the end, you will still be married, and that’s something to celebrate!
