Aaron and Heather Hawes perfectly captured our big day, and we could not have been happier with our choice! So here's the thing to remember: Aaron and Heather are lovely people. It's not something you forget over the course of working with them. It's easy to overlook the people behind the varied services employed when you're getting all of your details nailed down. They're good folk.

They spent 12 hours in our company on the day of, and plenty of time before in the engagement session and multiple conversations. Not that they were oppressively present by any means, as they are lovely people. These first steps are worth every bit of time and money; they gleaned a sense of who we are, what we wanted, and what they could do.

I'm of the opinion that wedding pictures shouldn't be static poses. I understand that they're important for posterity and grandma, but I know I didn't want my day to be, or be remembered, as a formality. We chose Heather and Aaron because they understood this.

This isn't the forum for extolling the virtues of supporting young artists or listing the manifold cultural, social, and municipal benefits that result, so let me say that work they did is framed on our wall not only because of our memories of the day, but for its aesthetic qualities. Our jealous friends that relied on their Photo-Hobbyist Uncle Bob aren't upset with their pictures by any means, but they definitely recognize a marked difference in quality.

And also, it's good to have lovely people around.

I am a makeup artist that specializes in wedding makeup and I have worked with a lot of photographers over the last 6yrs. My husband and I knew that we did not want the typical posed pictures. Aaron and Heather were amazing from the moment we met them. They really focused on who we were and were very artistic. For both the engagement pictures and wedding pictures they were flexible, professional, and fun. Aaron and Heather Hawes grabbed my attention the minute I saw their work--unique, personal, vintagesque, not cheesy. When we met, they just felt "right" and they weren't pushy at all like some wedding vendors. Throughout our long journey with them we have grown to appreciate their style, technique, and uniqueness. They are not going to take photos that look like your prom pictures; they capture the moments that are about you. Aaron and Heather are not your run of the mill photographers. They don't just take pictures they create art.

We booked Aaron and Heather from California for our St. Louis wedding. We loved their style, and after one phone conversation with them, we knew they would be perfect for us. They were super friendly and funny and were genuinely interested in getting a feel for our personalities and the kind of wedding we wanted. Heather even emailed me to see how the cross-country wedding planning was going. When we finally met them on our wedding day, we were so glad we'd picked Hawes Photography. I'm not usually super comfortable with having my picture taken, but somehow they made me feel relaxed. Elliott and I really enjoyed our pre-ceremony photo shoot, and every loves the images they captured of us and of the entire day. We could not be happier, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, especially if you're looking for a unique perspective to capture your wedding.

Wow! This was by far our favorite vendor that we worked with for our wedding. They were the first vendor we booked, and the best. My husband was a bit nervous about their prices when we first booked them, but by the time the wedding was over, he was telling everyone they were his favorite vendor. They were worth every penny we spent.

They were always very flexible with us and very efficient in their communication. Their helpfulness in general wedding matters was very much appreciated, too. They helped us plan out our timeline for the reception, they shuttled us to our photo location when our limousine broke down, and Heather even showed me how to cut my cake when I looked up at her with a confused look in my eyes. We've been joking about them truly being a "full service photographer."

We have not yet received our final images from them since the wedding was only 3 weeks ago, but we are 100% confident that they will be mind-blowing. We would highly recommend Hawes Photography to anyone (and keep in mind that they also do boudoir sessions and other specialty photo shoots...I couldn't afford it before the wedding, but will definitely think about it for our anniversary).

Working with Aaron and Heather was awesome. Before our photos shoots they were really helpful, answering questions we had not just about how the photography was going to work but general wedding advice as well.

The days of the shoots, they were fun to work with, made us feel comfortable and made us laugh. Our wedding was rather offbeat, and they ran with it, which was super important, so we felt lucky to have found them.

Sometimes they were a little slow in responding to emails--they are very busy--but always answered everything.

The packages are expensive, but we have no regrets about paying what we did--it was worth it!

Hawes is a very easy going, fun couple to work with. The quality of their work is exceptional and unique. Have found very few photographers that can offer the same!

I loved having Aaron and Heather do our wedding. They really made us feel comfortable and captured the feel of our special day. I feel like our personalities really came out in the pictures. We get TONS of complements on our pictures. Worth every penny.

The Hawes were awesome to work with. They survived a July wedding with us in 100 degree heat and a late bride. But they got some amazing photos that will be in our house for a lifetime. They create original photo book designs that are amazing.

My Advice: Inform any photographer of certain pictures that you are wanting, including the small details (even if you think that they will take anyway.) My wedding pictures are so different than everyone else that I know of that has gotten married....exactly what I wanted! They are so much fun to work with, & they are patient (especially if you have ADD:-), which can make all the difference in the world! They are worth every penny!

I had 3 months to plan my wedding (January 13th) and we wanted a "Financial Peace" budget that ensured we stay debt free after our celebration. Needless to say I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get a photographer. When I met with Aaron and his wife, they felt like people I'd want to have over for dinner, and that's what made me look at what they could offer. I knew I'd be comfortable having them in my circle on the special day, so then I took a risk looking at the cost. The Hawes were right up front with the pricing, and the value blew me away. Turned out they were the least expensive in town, and the photos on their site were the combination of traditional and journalistic photography that I wanted.
There was no pressure to purchase what I couldn't afford! Hallelujah! It's been 9 months since the wedding and I still go back and peak at all of the pictures because I LOVE looking at them! P.S. My husband is camera shy and never turns out photogenic, but somehow, Aaron caught only his best sides and they're all frame-able! Thank you!

Aaron and Heather were wonderful! I have received many compliments on my wedding photographs. If you want very formal, classic, posed pictures at the front of your church then you will need to ask for them. Aaron shoots in a very artistic, creative manner. I am thrilled with my wedding pictures!

this group of photographers were absolutely off the charts. they were very flexible to our busy schedules all the way from the engagement pics to the end. they had some very unique ideas for shot while not stretching to far from the traditional. we had so much fun with them. they were friendly, fun, imaginative, flexible, and were so warm and caring. they were more than we could have hoped for. there prices were unmatched by the effort they gave for us. i would recommend them to any one who wants a photographer that is above the best. thanks for all the hard work and fun that was put in to our special day. the pictures captured our true feelings of joy and happiness from beginning to end.
