Custom Sewing by Heather

I hired Heather to help me design to and to create my wedding dress. I wanted something completely original and had a few ideas about how I wanted the dress to look. Heather helped me create my dream dress and it was more amazing than I ever dreamed. I am incredibly picky and Heather far exceeded my expectations! She was so patient and professional. I'd highly recommend her to anyone!

Heather did an amazing job on my dress, I could not be happier! I bought my dress off the rack and found out 4 days later I was prego, she worked with me and my dress fits like a glove and Im 20 weeks along! I would totally recommed anyone to Heather!

Heather was increible. She knew exactly what to do with every little concern I had. My dress is full and heavy with flowers covering the bottom and the train. Heather had a very unique idea to creating my bussel. To keep the look of fullness and flowers, she did a bussel that highlighted that area perfectly instead of the typical french bussel that would have made my dress look ordinary. She was informative, funny and listened to my concerns. The last fitting there was a slight issue with my sash and she took the time to do a quick fix in our appointment so that we could still leave with the dress and make our next appointment on time. She was very flexible and knew what had to be done.

My gown fits like a glove and was so excitied every time to go to Heather and try it on again. I can't wait to wear it on my day and would recommend and trust Heather with any alterations in the future. She knows her stuff!!!

I needed alterations made to my wedding gown, and Heather was absolutely incredible to work with. She responded immediately to my inquiry and invited me to come for a consultation. She seemed to understand exactly what my dream for the gown was and she was able to do everything I'd hoped for and more while still keeping the style/design of the gown the same; she did what I'm sure the designer themselves would have done.

I am getting married on Saturday and I love the gown now even more than I did when I first picked it out.

Heather did a fantastic job on my dress alterations and I feel very confident about my dress with only 3 months to go before my wedding. I am an 'out of town bride' and was only able to schedule alterations appointments on specific days and times. Heather was very accomodating to my schedule and will also be helping a few of my bridesmaids with their alterations. I highly recommend her services!

Heather is amazing! I had an all lace bridal gown with a key hole back. Not only did she do a flawless job on the key hole alterations, she also had to recut the lace trim to take it up & it looked as if it had never been touched! Contrary to what the wedding shop had told me, she was also able to sew in cups instead of me having to wear an uncomfortable bra or shapewear. The end result was perfect! My dress fit me like a glove & I was incredibly comfortable all day long!

My bridesmaids also visited Heather for their alterations on their bridesmaid dresses which also turned out beautifully! And 4 weeks after my wedding, my brother got married so I went back to Heather to get my bridesmaid dress altered in a short times notice!

I would recommend Heather to any of my family or friends for any type of alterations they seek!

Heather is amazing!

My gown fit me perfectly and my bustle was impeccable because of Heather. Not to mention, Heather is extremely kind and gracious with a level of professionalism that I appreciate very much. Very accomodating.

In addition to my gown, Heather took on my mother's dress only 3 days before the wedding and turned it into a custom fit dress just for my mom. She felt and looking stunning and was able to run around and mingle and dance with reckless abandon without any concern for her dress. This is all a huge thanks to Heather!

Heather is an absolutely wonderful person to work with. I would highly recommend her for all of your alteration services. Heather was my "angel" as I rushed to get alterations after receiving my dress only 2 weeks before the wedding! Heather is calm, confident, kind, and very talented: I had no questions putting my complete trust in her. She tackled taking-in, steaming, adding a sash, bra, and french bustle with ease in only 2 weeks time! My dress turned out just as I had always imagined it!! Thanks Heather!!

We bought off the rack wedding and bridesmaid dresses and had them altered to make all the sleeves and lengths match. Such beautiful work..the dresses came out perfect.

Heather comes to the rescue again! Will never go anywhere else. The second time around, I was the PA in another friend's wedding - bought a beautiful long black dress. Not as much needed to be done compared to my last alteration a couple of years ago - needed the bottom brought up a bit, the zipper fixed, and some hooks replaced in the back. Again, Heather was very reasonably priced, always a very welcoming feeling in her home, and the alterations were done very quickly and professionally. You've got a customer for life Heather! Maybe one of these years I'll have the pleasure of having you work on my own wedding dress! :)

Heather is absolutely amazing! My girlfriend recommended her after Heather did the alterations on her wedding gown and I couldn't be happier with my decision. Not only is Heather a truly wonderful person she is also great at her job. She did the alterations on my wedding dress as well as my bridesmaids dresses and some of our regular clothes as well. Not only is she a great listener paying special attention to individual body issues of each person in my bridal party but she also made great suggestions. Heather re-made an entire section of my sister's dress so she wouldn't be too "booby" as we call it on the wedding day. My dress fit me like a glove and I felt comfortable the whole night, actually I felt like the prettiest girl in the whole world who just happened to be comfortable as well.

The price was very reasonable for the amount of work she did on all of our dresses and she even schedules steaming so the bride doesn't have to worry about taking the dress to another place.

I am going to miss working with Saint Heather as we all call her now...until I buy some ill fitting clearance clothes and go see her again.

Heather is AMAZING! I had someone else first alter my dress and it resulted in being too short. So I took my dress to Heather to see if it was fixable, and not only did she fix it, but customized it so it was like no other dress, and it looks BEAUTIFUL! I couldn't be any happier. She turned a disaster into a perfect dress, made just for me :) I would and will recommend Heather to anybody needing alterations. She is a miracle worker!

I bought my dress at Belle Boutique and the recommend Heather to assist with my alteration and let me tell you I'm glad I contacted her. She is an amazing seamstress! She added a bussell to my dress that was gorgeous. She even color coded the strings of the bussell so anyone could assist me with my dress. She was extremely nice and very professional. She does great work and in a very timely manner. Thank you so much Heather for making my dress fit perfectly for my big day!

If I could, I would give Heather a 10/5. I originally had a relative do alterations on my wedding dress thinking it would save some money in the wedding process. After my dress was returned for the third time with visible mistakes and a bussel that would have fallen apart, I contacted Heather (referred originally from the store I bought my gown at) two days before the wedding. Despite Heather's busy schedule and my last minute emergency, she fit me in and had my dress ready the next day. Her work was amazing, my bussel was perfect and held up throughout the night and the price was extremely reasonable considering it was a rush. The second I left Heather's after dropping my dress off, I felt extremely relieved that she would fix my dress and I was absolutely right. Not only did she relieve the stress caused by the last minute emergency, I felt amazing on my wedding day and the dress that I fell in love with looked wonderful. Heather is extremely gifted and I would recommend her to any bride needing alterations.

Wow! Heather did an AMAZING job. I came in with my dress (from Bella Bridal- who recommended her). As soon as my dress arrived and I had tried it on- I realized there was SO much to be done to get it fitted right. My initial appointment w/Heather went great- I had to have material on the straps taken in, I had to take in the waist, I had to have cups put in- as well as having the bust area re-worked because it was all sorts of wrong upon opening it. Also, I had to have the bottom hemmed along with bustling (which by the way- the bustle was an entire job in itself). Basically, she did everything to make my wedding dress tailored to me and the end result was PERFECTION. It fit me like a glove- every single item I noted to her that I needed to see changed- she changed. I would recommend her to any bride who wants a seamstress who is talented. I do recommend her to any of my girlfriends who are planning their weddings!

I was referred to Heather Baldridge from a friend that had her wedding dress altered/designed by Heather and it looked fantastic, so I truly felt at ease letting her work on my dress.
I am pregnant and I was in a wedding when I was 32 weeks along. The place where I had ordered my dress (a non-maternity bridesmaid dress) ordered it a wee-bit too small in the stomach area and too big in the bust area. Also, I needed fashionable sleeves added to it since it was sleeveless and I preffered to have sleeves on it.
Heather was very flexible with scheduling me for fittings; the bridal shop where I got my dress had kept pushing back the arrival date for my dress and Heather had no problem re-scheduling sessions and she had my dress done in 2 weeks.
On the night of the wedding, I had SO many compliments on my dress and how it looked like it had been designed as a maternity dress! Heather did an awesome job altering it so it looked fashionable, yet comfortable for a mom-to-be :)

My review is long overdue! I first went to Heather for my wedding dress and she did a FANTASTIC job. She was extremely knowledgable, professional, fun, friendly, and flexible. A woman's wedding day is one of the most important day's of her life. Planning can be stressful, so it was great to know my dress was in such great hands and it was one big "To Do" I could check off the list and not worry about. She has since altered many bridesmaids dresses for me for other weddings I have been in, which were all various styles and yet again she did a fabulous job. I would definitely recommend Custom Sewing by Heather to anyone.

I HIGHLY recommend Custom Sewing by Heather. I wanted a more modest neckline, a bolero jacket made, and a bustle for my wedding dress, material added to the bottom of my 4 bridesmaids dresses along with boleros for all of them, and one of my flower girl dresses taken in. She did it all and did it AMAZING. She is very busy but does her best to work around YOUR schedule. My dress & bolero looked like it came together - no one knew I had work done on it unless I told them. I don't know how many times at my wedding people said, "I LOVE your bustle!!!" I had 3 in town bridesmaids who ALL missed their appts with her one week before my wedding, and she still fit them all in! My out of town bridesmaids flight got delayed multiple times the day before the wedding, and Heather still made time to see her after rehearsal and the morning of the wedding. She doesn't just do it for the money (which is very reasonable I might add), she genuinely wants you to look good on our special day! One more thing, if you aren't 100% sure what you want, she is so helpful with giving ideas that work, and letting you know who wouldn't work as well. Call Heather if you want the BEST seamstress!

Heather did excellent work! She was extremely understanding with my busy schedule and worked with me to make my appointments at times that worked for me! I would definitely go back!

Heather did an amazing job with my alterations on my dress. I had a very full dress with a long train. Heather re-did the hemline so that it was a bubble hemline that flowed more with the dress. She did an amazing job on the bustle. My dress had lots of asymmetrical lines and she made the bustle look like it belonged with the dress. She was very good about finding times that work with the brides. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who is looking for dress alterations.

Heather is absolutely amazing!!! She does very high quality work & is wonderful to work with. She did an exquisite job on my dress & I couldn't be happier with it!!

Heather did a great job on my dress. She is decently priced and completed all of my alterations including a bustle for $190. She works from her home and does have a small dog in her house. She keeps it very clean, so no need to worry about do hair on your dress. She is also quick and completed my dress in a few weeks.

Had a bustle in my dress and it came out great...exactly what we had discussed. Cost $96.00, I guess I don't know if that's a good deal or not since I've never had a bustle put in anything before. Heather was very nice and knew what she was doing.

The only downside was that she works out of her home and the bathroom where you have to change is small and cramped and nowhere to really put anything. Also, she has one dog for sure and you have to walk through her hallway/living room for her to see you in your dress. So, if you've been trying to keep your dress as clean as possible, you probably gathered up a ton of dog hair/dander by walking through all of that. It did appear clean, but dresses pick up everything.

I would recommend Heather for alterations.

Heather was highly recommended on the knot.com and lived in my town (woodbury) so I contacted her. She was very nice and I could tell she was experienced, but at several times I had to suggest alternate ideas than what she proposed like for the bustle, etc. and if I had not said anything she would have done it the way she wanted, and I did not like it. To explain better, she would say this is the only way this dress can really be bustled, and I would say well what if you took this piece of fabric and did this or that and then she was like oh yeah why didn’t I think of that? I also questioned if I should get the dress taken in at all-it fit me really well but I was worried about it expanding. Sure enough, I spent my wedding reception yanking my dress up at the bust because it was really hot all day and I was sweating. I also did not know what the appropriate length of the gown would be and what would be too long/too short because I had never spent time walking around in a wedding dress. She tailored it to the length she thought would be good and I trusted her. Well I tripped (did not fall but stepped on my dress) several times walking down the aisle. Should never have happened with a professional! She was also VERY expensive. Like I said she convinced me not to have my dress taken in so all she did was take about an inch off the bottom and then she did the ribbons for the bustle, and it was like $350!!! Very nice lady but I would go somewhere else.

My experience with Custom Sewing by Heather was by far the worst of all my wedding vendors. I was referred to her by the bridal shop where I purchased my gown. I would never recommend her to anyone in a million years! She performed alterations on my bridal gown and two of my bridesmaid’s dresses. The alterations took easily four times longer than promised, and Heather would NEVER call any of us to let us know she was running behind. The bridesmaid dresses, upon completion, were an absolute mess! At the final fitting, one of them had lining sticking out from under the hem she sewed completely crooked – we had to wait in her porch while she corrected this (and still charged full price)! The biggest nightmare was my gown. She did not have my gown completed, despite my frequent calls, until TWO WEEKS before my wedding date. When I finally was able to come in for my final fitting, there was more wrong with the dress than I have time to repeat – including a large coffee stain on the bodice! I had to find another seamstress who could correct this botched work with less than two weeks before my wedding! One would think that with all of these issues, I wouldn’t be charged for the work. Heather charged me full price and refused to refund any of my money even after my second seamstress vouched for the fact that the gown had been completely mangled! The second seamstress was able to improve the look of the gown, but I still look at my wedding photos and notice the awful workmanship that couldn’t be corrected. Brides: do yourself a favor and stay away from Custom Sewing by Heather!!!

Heather is not only professional, welcoming and friendly, but does amazing work! Many of my clients have gone to her for alterations and all have been very pleased. The last thing you want on your wedding day is to be fussing with a dress that doesn't fit you properly. Great alterations can make your wedding gown go from great to outstanding. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
