I will be doing a more formal review under Caterer because as of June 2011, The Dubsdread won the contract from the City of Apopka. We first hear about this venue while making a last minute decision to change venues based on our growing headcount and other wedding hurdles me and my then fiance encountered. We decided that we wanted a venue where the ceremony and reception would be all in one. We first visited the Dubsdread of Winter Park but when the date was booked they referred us to there newly acquired contract. When we drove onto the property, our hearts dropped. It was gorgeous and felt like we went back in time. The trees, the exterior of the house, the 2nd floor bridal sweet. Amazing. Right now the pictures of the exterior do not do it justice. I highly encourage you to see the wedding photo albums out there to get an idea of this beautiful site and then GO VISIT!

I want to start off by saying that Highland Manor would have gotten a 5-star review from me had I been able to work with the wedding coordinator that was there during the last month or so before our wedding for the entire planning process. Unfortunately, that was not the case and it was a little unsettling that the Manor failed to inform us that a change had been made, even if it did turn out to be for the better. The previous wedding coordinator had not kept good track of our wedding details and we had to re-do the majority of our plans with the new coordinator, just a couple weeks before our wedding. Hopefully, the personnel issues are resolved at the Manor now, because it is a very nice venue that just needs good people working there.
Other than that, we were happy that we chose the Manor as our venue. The food is delicious, the ballroom is gorgeous with its giant crystal chandeliers and gold Chiavari chairs, the ceremony site options are lovely, and the bridal dressing room is spacious. It was a beautiful place to have pictures taken at; the house and the lush oak trees provided wonderful backdrops. We chose to have our ceremony underneath the huge oak tree in front of the house and it came out great in photos. Our guests raved about how pretty the place was and everyone thought the food was yummy (we offered a choice of herb-roasted chicken breast or grilled tenderloin of beef). The Manor has several wedding packages, some of which include a complimentary cocktail hour with open bar and passed appetizers. They were flexible when it came to which vendors we used and the decorations we wanted to put up. I would recommend Highland Manor to anyone looking for an elegant Southern feel for their wedding venue.
