Historic Whitehall Manor

I searched and searched and searched for the perfect place to get married. I was not satisfied with any venue until I arrived on the grounds of Whitehall Manor. It is located in the beautiful Northern Virginia countryside, just a short drive from Leesburg, VA. The grounds are well-maintained, and the manor hall is gorgeous. It is classy and elegant, yet offered the opportunity for us to marry outside, which we chose. The Whitehall staff was great to work with—I was a bride with many, many questions, and the staff never hesitated to give me an honest, quick answer. I had many communications with them via phone, in-person, and over e-mail. This close communication made me feel very at ease with them, especially as our wedding day grew near. Like I said, we got married under the arch at Whitehall and had an indoor reception. Whitehall is one of the few sites in NOVA that offers an indoor reception. I didn’t feel comfortable with an outdoor reception, under a tent, as offered by many other reception sites in the area. We used Whitehall’s catering, Celebrations Catering, which was outstanding. The service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend this location, albeit a bit expensive. It was worth the money.

My husband and I really enjoyed Whitehall Manor and also working with Douglas. He is very accommodating and his responsiveness was also very appreciated. Douglas will do whatever it takes to make your day very special. The food was great, and many of our guests claimed that it was the best wedding that they had ever been to. The professionalism of the team at Whitehall was nice as well and we felt right at home! I would highly recommend Whitehall to anyone looking for a wedding venue in the area!

We got married at Whitehall in October, and we could not have asked for a better experience. We worked with Douglas, and he was so helpful in all areas of planning our wedding. He recommended some awesome vendors to us as well. Whenever I had a question, I wouldn't think twice to email Douglas. He was very fast in responding, and usually provided more than just the information I requested. The manor house was beautiful. We received so many compliments from all of our guests on the cleanliness and the overall atmosphere of Whitehall. We could not have asked for a better place to have our wedding!

I couldn't be more thrilled that we chose Whitehall for our wedding. Not only was it gorgeous, but Doug was amazing every step of the way. We ended up also using celebrations catering (same catering as whitehall) for our rehearsal dinner and everyone loved the food both nights. In addition, every vendor that Doug recommended that we used was fantastic as well!!

Whitehall Manor was THE best choice we made for our wedding - hands down! When we went to visit the venue we knew instantly that this was the place... absolutely beautiful property with the perfect size ballroom for the reception. The catering was INCREDIBLE and it was as close to "all inclusive" as you can get when planning a wedding reception. Our guests continuously comment on how fabulous the venue was (especially the food) and we are proud to recommend Whitehall to anyone who is getting married. You will not be disappointed!

We just married at Whitehall Manor on August 7th. We are both so glad we chose to have our wedding there. We loved everything about Whitehall Manor! The food, staff, decor, and venue exceeded our expectations. We received tons of compliments about how great and beautiful Whitehall Manor was. Each time we visited Whitehall Manor, we were given delicious appetizers and treated extremely well. Douglas was such a joy to work with. He was extremely kind, helpful, flexible, and easy to talk to. With Douglas, the planning process went extremely smoothly. He was always there to answer our questions and help us. We wanted to get married outside and it started pouring at 2 on our wedding day. Our ceremony was at 5, but we still decided to try and have the wedding outside. It stopped raining, but continued to be cloudy up until the ceremony. We were really worried and stressed out about the weather. Whitehall said we could start the ceremony outside and then move it inside if needed. This really helped calm us down, since we knew there was an option of moving the ceremony inside if necessary. Walter, the personal waiter for my husband and I, did an amazing and incredible job. He was always there by our side and brought us everything we needed. He constantly checked to see if we needed anything. He was extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. On our wedding day, the appetizers and food were absolutely delicious! We received tons of compliments about the food. The bartenders, servers, and cleaning staff did an amazing job. Everybody at Whitehall Manor was extremely kind and helpful. Our wedding at Whitehall Manor exceeded all of our expectations. Our wedding was extremely magical and incredible. We could not have asked for anything more. :o)

Whitehall Manor is truly a wonderful place to get married. The scenery is beautiful and the catering is delicious. Doug was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the process. I would highly recommend Whitehall Manor as a venue for a wedding. Wonderful service all around.

This venue has been amazing for our wedding. The estate itself, is beautiful. Our guests loved the grounds and house. The food was great and the guests raved about how stuffed they were. Bottom line - our guests were loving every minute. As for planning, Douglas was available 24/7 and open to ideas or any hiccups that came up. He was clear and willing to help wherever he could. We dropped off all of our reception items on the day before the wedding - labeled as per Douglas requested and when arriving to the reception - everything was in it's place and looked amazing. On our wedding day, we had an on-site coordinator - Francisco. He was extremely attentive and did whatever he could to help us during the day. He was right there for us with drinks during our photo shoot - and he even gave us a sampling of the passed appetizers that we missed during the cocktail hour (because of the photos). Which was great for us because we were running around the entire time. The staff was there every minute to help or offer their assistance in some way. This reception venue has exceeded my expectations and I would recommend them above anyone else. There's a reason why they're so in demand.

Thank you to beautiful Historic Whitehall Manor for the impeccable job they did. This venue has historic charm and it's setting provides the perfect backdrop for fabulous wedding photos. Douglas was attentive to every detail from our first visit through the day of the wedding. He handled everything in a hospitable and friendly manner. He always responded to phone messages and e-mails pleasantly and promptly, too. The service staff treated us, our guests and the other vendors in a warm and welcoming way. The convenience of having both the ceremony and reception at one site is a definite plus, especially if you have a lot of out of town guests as wee did, and...the food was fabulous! Whitehall manor is the most beautiful venue to get married. All of my guests raved at the beauty and elegance Whitehall Manor had. The guests also said is was the most amazing wedding they had ever been to. It was raining the entire week before and the morning of my wedding so I could not get married outside, but the staff at Whitehall setup the inside and it turned out better than I could ever imagine... and I was able to take beautiful pictures outside when the sun came out! I recommend looking no further, Doug and his staff will help to make your wedding day complete and perfect.

In the beginning Doug was a little difficult to reach via email but that's because he prefers the phone and in-person meetings. Once we met and spoke, getting a hold of him was very easy and he was very responsive. Whitehall Manor is beautiful and we loved the decor, the scenery, and the ambiance. If you've never been, visit it. It's an excellent venue. (We should know, we considered close to 40 places.) Doug worked with us to get under budget and he was very accommodating. He also showed us exactly what we were getting for our money. As a matter of fact, Doug's customer service combined with the charm and picturesque setting at Whitehall made booking a no-brainer.The process leading up to the wedding was virtually stress-free. Meetings with Doug were productive and fun, and he worked around our schedule.The Whitehall staff was amazing. They took care of virtually everything involving set-up and clean-up. The service was above and beyond. The event captain took care if us, making sure we had enough food, and they even sent us home with plenty of food.One of our guests had knee surgery before the wedding, and the Whitehall staff took her to the couch so she could elevate her her leg, and they made her an ice pack without being asked. They made sure she was as comfortable as possible. Again, incredible service.We had a few people stay behind to help with clean-up and they told us that right after we left, the Whitehall staff had our centerpieces and leftover alcohol packed up and ready to go. All in all, Whitehall was excellent and the service was perfect. We would highly, highly recommend this venue.

Not only is Whitehall Manor is a beautiful venue in a very scenic location, but it has a fantastic event staff that is very responsive, flexible, and dedicated! The whole team was a dream to work with while coordinating my wedding. Doug always remembered the details of my wedding when I called and was able to accommodate several last minute changes graciously. He was even able to arrange for us to decorate the reception hall after the rehearsal since we made our own centerpieces. I have no reservations recommending Whitehall Manor to anyone looking for a beautiful venue with excellent service! Oh, and the food was wonderful too! We got complements all night, and the in house caterer was very helpful with planning meals for guests with dietary restrictions. We had a fall wedding, and there was no shortage of great locations on the property for photos - including a very cool old barn! Good luck and best wishes all engaged couples reading this review :)

I was blown away with Whitehall Manor from the minute we pulled up for our initial consult. The whole place is gorgeous, inside and out! The service was incredible every step of the way. Doug was extremely responsive to every email I sent even about the smallest details. I am an event coordinator and I was comepletly able to relax and have fun, not worry about a thing. The catering staff day of was exceptional. The food was incredible! The outdoor setting for our Fall ceremony and pictures was more than I hoped for. Everything was absolutely perfect!

As soon as we walked into Whitehall Manor and met Doug, we knew this was it - the reception had to be here! The setting is beautiful (especially in the fall!) and the Manor is magnificent. Throughout the planning process, Doug was always responsive and would promptly answer questions or concerns with courtesy and professionalism. He was a pleasure to work with and the planning was less stressful because of him. The staff were attentive and professional, they greeted us as soon as we arrived with drinks and hors d'oeurves for the wedding party. The food was phenomenal and we recieved many compliments from guests - we were also able to customize a menu that suited our tastes and budget. Guests were very impressed with the Manor and grounds and Whitehall provided us with our ideal experience for the reception - everything was close to perfect and we were thrilled with the outcome. Whitehall is certainly a top-notch place and deserving of the great reviews!

The perfect place to get married! I've always wanted an outside fall wedding and Douglas and the staff at Whitehall made this girls dreams come true! The moment my husband and I walked in we were greated with warm smiles and helpful staff. We delt mostly with Douglas; he was extreamly helpful, prefessional and fun to work with. Every little detail that we discussed was executed perfectly. Our big day went off without a hitch all thanks to Douglas and his staff

This was absolutely the most wonderful location we could have chosen for our wedding. Not only were the service, food and physical beauty of the venue excellent, the ease of combining catering and venue in one vendor was a huge stress relief. I was a bit worried that not having a choice of caterers would result in sub-par food, but the food was amazing...people are still commenting on it. Moreover, the director/owner of Whitehall and Celebrations Catering, Douglas Armstrong, was a great source of information and was a very helpful coordinator on the day of. Finally, all of this was very reasonably priced (better than most locations in the area) and gratuity and taxes are included in the initial estimate, so there are no surprises at the end of the day. A great experience!

I cannot say enough good things about my wedding at whitehall manor. as soon as we met doug we knew we had found our venue. It was a dream working with him and he was the perfect combination or organized yet flexible. It was the most beautiful wedding i have ever seen and more than i could have ever dreamed of. The food was amazing and our guests are still talking about whitehall!!!

On the day of our event, Historic Whitehall Manor was our Virginia Manor conveying warmth, elegance and charm. The perfect environment for our garden ceremony and elegant indoor reception. Impeccable service and attention to detail. Our guests continue to comment upon its physical beauty and the quality of the dining experience. The Celebrations Catering food was delectable. It was apparent from our first meeting that Douglas Armstrong managed Whitehall in a calm, warm, and engaging manner. He presented the property, catering and set up options with ease. Throughout the year leading up to the event I waited for some excitement, missed issue or rush of needed detail to surprise me. It never did. Any concern I presented was neutralized. I soon understood that Douglas was not only deftly organized but also an experienced wedding resource with solutions and contacts at his disposal. On the day, the Event Captain and his staff managed our wedding with aplomb. From the moment we arrived and throughout the night they were a finely tuned machine setting up and shifting gears. They assisted with any unforeseen concern while being virtually unseen. This is a well oiled professional operation managed and run by customer service professionals. We picked the right place.

Douglas, David and the rest of the Whitehall Manor staff were a true joy to work with. The venue is beautiful and we received nothing but compliments on the space as well as the food Celebrations provided. We visited numerous venues searching for the ideal space for our wedding. No other place we toured approached the quality of service Whitehall provided, even significantly more expensive venues. Our guest list offered a variety of challenges in terms of food restrictions and the catering staff was happy to accommodate our needs. I cannot recommend this business enough.

Whitehall Manor was the perfect place to have our wedding! We loved every minute of it and will have amazing memories and photos to cherish forever. My wedding at Whitehall was absolutely beautiful -- just what I had imagined. The setting was wonderful, the food was excellent, and the staff were all professional and courteous. Throughout the whole planning process, I was so thankful that I had chosen to have my wedding at Whitehall. Douglas could not have been friendlier or more responsive. When I wanted to have ice cream shipped in from Massachusetts for the wedding, he did not bat an eye. He also did an amazing job of placating my very opinionated mother-in-law. In the months before the wedding when I was under a lot of stress, I imagined what a nightmare it would have been to deal with an unresponsive venue and I was extremely grateful to Douglas.Just a note: if you are having your ceremony outdoors there in the spring, you may want to ask them to do something about the bugs. There weren't any mosquitoes, but there were a lot of gnats. The bug situation improved a lot after they sprayed the surrounding bushes.

The people at Whitehall are amazing. They help you through every step of the planning process. They are very responsive to emails and phone calls and no question is dumb or insignificant. The staff during the reception were very professional and provided five star service. Everything about Whitehall was elegant and beautiful.So many guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to.

Douglas and the Celebrations team did a Fabulous job! Easily one of our favorite vendors. My husband and I were extremely pleased how professional, easy going and accommodating they were. Doug was open to all our ideas and worked with us to make it happen. Doug is simply...AMAZING!! We absolutely loved him. He is personable, super friendly, smart, easy going and he just gets it. The grounds are beautiful and the space is amazing. All of our guests loved the venue and complimented us on our choice on this historic venue. You'll get that old historic look but you will also get some of the modern vibes as well. Celebrations did a great job on the food and service can't be beat. If you don't have a venue yet, we highly recommend HWM for you event!

Whitehall Manor was our dream wedding venue come to life. The manager, Doug was great to work with and always timely with his replies to any questions we had. The staff the day of was great, very helpful and professional. They have good discounts for Fridays/Sundays especially in the non-peak months. Very easy to work with.

Whitehall Manor was the perfect setting for my reception. My husband is from CA and I wanted all of his family and friends to be able to see Virginia at its best. Whitehall truly did that. Douglas is so fantastic to work with and would literally respond to my many emails at all hours of the night. So accommodating and he made this part of the planning process so easy. I could not have asked for a more beautiful venue for our wedding. The owners, the staff, everyone you encountered was helpful and friendly beyond that which is expected. I felt comfortable asking all manner of questions and was given a genuine and very helpful response to every one of them. The site is breathtaking, both inside and out and it is set up perfectly to do an indoor or outdoor ceremony. There are so many wonderful places to do pictures and the atmosphere and location are lovely, simple, yet elegant. There is not one thing I could have changed, the service was impeccable and everything ran so smoothly, even without an outside coordinator. You will not be disappointed!

My wedding at Whitehall was absolutely perfect and I thank Douglas and his staff for that. He even provided us with his private cell phone in case we really needed to get ahold of him. The staff at Whitehall is also incredible - they make sure that you are well taken care of the day of the event. They brought us champagne, fruit and soda while we were getting ready. And during the reception they saved a sampling of all the appetizers served during the cocktail hour! The food at Whitehall is also amazing!! We got so many compliments on the food and how delicious it was! The grounds and the surrounding view at Whitehall makes for a perfect wedding day! I highly recommend this venue!

Our daughter's wedding at Whitehall was everything we could hope for and more! Doug Armstrong always make you feel like your wedding is the only wedding being planned and he is always available to you, from the beginning of your planning to the moment of your wedding! The food was fantastic; the venue is spectacular; the staff was so very efficient and professional. Everyone we dealt with was warm and friendly and highly skilled and clearly enjoy what they are doing! These days it is easy to forget that there are people who know how to do their job and do it extremely well; that is not the case at Whitehall. I highly recommend Whitehall and will miss our time working with everyone associated with Whitehall.

As soon as my husband and I visited Whitehall for the first time, we knew we had to get married there. After we sat down and spoke with Doug, we were completely sold. We could tell immediately that this was not Doug's first wedding and that he would be able to provide us with the best service, and we were right. Even though Whitehall has multiple weddings every weekend, we never felt like just another wedding.I can say enough nice things about Doug. He was so knowledgable, honest, and open to any new ideas. I never had a problem getting a hold of him by email or by phone. If he was busy when I called, he would call me back almost immediately. Whenever we would tell someone who knew about Whitehall that we were getting married there, they would say, "Oh, Doug is great, isn't he!!" Yes, he is :)The food was exceptional! Before my wedding I was convinced that caterers make sure to make the tastings really good, but then on the actual day, something changes and the chicken is dry and the filet is tough. This was not the case with Celebrations. In fact, I think the food on our wedding day was better then the tasting. The bread was warm and everything was cooked just right!The staff was wonderful! Very professional - they did their job and were never in the way.

We had our October 2009 wedding at Whitehall Manor. If any of you remember, this was the coldest and rainiest weekend that month! I was planning on having an outdoor ceremony and the reception inside the banquet hall. However, we quickly had to change our plans once we realized that our guests would not be comfortable sitting in 45 degree wet and windy weather (let alone myself, hubby and the wedding party!)! Whitehall was amazingly accommodating and was very obviously experienced with these sort of last minute weather changes. The hall itself, is just beautiful as-is, so I didn't feel like I was having to compromise for pictures. All in all, it was a very cozy and warm indoor ceremony.I mostly corresponded with Douglas Armstrong, the site coordinator/manager and Senior VP of Celebrations Hospitality, Inc. (Whitehall's exclusive caterer). He was FANTASTIC to work with. Douglas was incredibly organized which made my job a lot easier. He always knew who I was when I called/emailed and he always rememberd the many details of our wedding planning. It was like we were his only wedding at Whitehall. Such personalized treatment really helps you know that you are in good hands.Whitehall's exclusive caterer, Celebrations Catering, was great as well. Douglas was also my main contact for this which kept it easy to communicate the needs of the reception. They were able to accommodate diabetic guests, and those with Gluten allergies and any other food allergies. On top of that the food was DELICIOUS!!! To this day, I have not tasted a filet of beef that was so juicy, tender and flavorful. Oh what I would give for another bite of that filet!All in all, the overall package at Whitehall Manor cannot be matched. It may seem expensive at first, but once you compare to other places (i.e. Belmont Country Club, Oatlands Plantation, Thomas Birkby House, etc.), you realize that you get the best bang for your buck at Whitehall: beautiful scenery, old manor house with antique charm, gorgeous banquet hall that comfortably accommodates 250ish guests (plus serves as a beautiful back-up location in case of inclement weather), delicious food, allows you to bring your own alcohol (this saves big bucks ladies!!), and fantastic personal service. Do the math and comparisons. Nothing even comes close!

Working with Douglas, and anyone else at Whitehall for that matter, was a pleasure. They were always very professional, yet also, personal. Douglas responded without out delay to all of my questions and concerns and always had an answer or a solution. Our wedding was everything that I wanted it to be thanks to the cooperation of Douglas and his crew. I would highly recommend Whitehall Manor for anyone's wedding.

Douglass and his staff did such a wonderful job helping us prepare for our wedding day! From the moment we booked Douglas was there to answer any questions (big or small) and made us feel at ease with everything. On the wedding day everything was beautiful and went off with out any problems. The ceremony was beautiful, the reception was fun and the food was delicious. We are still getting compliments from all of our friends and family about our choice. We couldn't be happier with how things turned out. Whitehall is exceptionally beautiful and the staff is very professional and are there to make your day perfect!

I would highly recommend Whitehall Manor to any couple that wants to choose exactly what the envision and never think about it again knowing that it will be taken care of. Doug was FABULOUS to work with throughout the entire process. Even after paying the fees and signing the contract, the service remained. Whitehall Manor is the perfect location for any bride who wants a picturesque setting, fabulous facility and amazing staff. We were so impressed with everything that we could not stop saying "thank you". First of all, the staff was phenomenal. From setting up to serving to just being helpful, the staff was second to none. The location and new reception hall aren't too shabby either! With a view of the mountains, tall trees, and beautiful landscaping, Whitehall is truly a treasure. No need to overdecorate here! Planning was easy here with Doug from Celebrations catering. He really knows what he is doing and makes the process very enjoyable. I would recommend Whitehall to any and everyone who is looking for a place to relax and enjoy the day stress-free!

Whitehall Manor, where to begin? First off Douglas was awesome. Every step of the way he indulged us and took time out of his valuable weekend to meet with us. The location was beautiful and the entire staff spent every second we were there making the event a one in a million day. Lastly the food, I am still getting compliments on the food three months after our wedding. Everything and I mean everything was delicious.

Whitehall Manor is an amazing venue for both the ceremony and reception. The staff at Whitehall did not miss a detail from beginning to end and was very responsive and attentive to our needs, questions, and requests. Nothing was missed. It is so nice to have one place where everything (food, tables, chairs, linens, etc) is done for you. That is Whitehall, and Douglas. The setting is lovely. We were able to decide up to an hour before whether or not to have the ceremony outside. Since it rained all morning they put a runner down the aisle and in front of the arch. Everyone was so efficient. And we had so many compliments on the food. We went to a tasting but when we got to making our choices there were some things we wanted that we hadn't tried and some special requests. Doug was very accommodating and had another tasting for us. We also had a guest with severe food allergies and that was handled as if an everyday occurrence. The event captain did a fantastic job of making sure we were taken care of and having everything run smoothly. Doug was pretty much available 24/7 and answered every question we came up with. I can't say enough good things about Whitehall, Douglas and his staff.

Whenever we mentioned to anyone that we were beginning preperations for our daughter's wedding and we were planning on 165 guests, Whitehall Manor was the name that kept coming up. We contacted Doug to inquire about his facility. We fell in love with the site, the elegence, the warm atmosphere, it was everything we were looking for. We went to a Celebrations tasting at Whitehall and that was it!!! Excellent food, beautiful venue, we couldn't go wrong. Doug was there for us whenever we called with questions, he had all the answers as well some great suggestions.The night of the wedding everything from the linens and china to the meal was spot on. The event captain anticipated our daughter and son-in-laws every move and made sure they were taken care of. All of our guests were very impressed with the dinner choices and quality of food. Everything was beautiful and better than we could have ever imagined!!!

Whitehall Manor is beautiful. You will not find a better deal for you money. Their sevices included ceremony and reception site, but you're not required to use both in order to book it. They also provide catering and tables, chairs, and linens for your entire wedding. Once we booked them, and I realized I wouldn't have to hunt down tables and linens and a caterer, it made wedding planning so much easier. The food is amazing. Everyone loved it, and they were very willing to go get foods we wanted that they didn't make themselves. You have a choice of buffet or plated dinner. Along with a late night fare meal, who could ask for anything more?The other thing I really liked about Whitehall was we wanted an outdoor wedding, and they have a beautiful white arch for you to get married under. And if the weather is less than perfect on your big day, just let them know and they can move the weddings indoors, so you and your guests wont get soaked.

As a groom, I rarely use the words "elegant," "beautiful," "classy," and "fabulous," but I will make an exception in the case of Whitehall. From the beginning, Doug (the Director of events) made himself available to us via email and private cellphone where we could reach him anytime, anywhere. He made sure to take careful note of our needs (conservation-wise, and dietary), and made special exceptions to accomodate us. He even went so far as to deliver a Mango pie to our apartment personally to ensure we liked the recipe. He was an unbelievable asset.The grounds were immaculate on the day of the event. There was ample room for both bridesmaids and groomsmen to prepare, and the rooms were air conditioned (which is necessary when you're wearing a tuxedo and its 95 degree outside). We had several last-minute issues and Francisco, the event captain, handled every single one quickly and graciously. The service staff was courteous and very very high class. They even saved the bride and I a plate of pass-around hors d'ouvres since we were busy taking pictures after the ceremony and couldn't enjoy the cocktail hour. Our every need and consideration was taken into account.The layout of the Whitehall is another great reason to book this place. The grounds are well manicured but not overdone, with plenty of shade for guests on a hot day. There is enough room inside the banquet hall for a large band and over 100 guests. They can even do the ceremony indoors. There are several porches, all with comfortable seating and tables for those who want to take their drinks outside. There was plenty of space for smokers and non smokers, and plenty of places to sneak away if necessary. The food was amazing. We opted for a buffet and had a reasonable expectation that the food would be decent. They blew us away with the quality of food and food-related service. The chicken and meat were cooked to perfection, and everything tasted fresh. I thought that people had to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a party like this one, but I was wrong. Whitehall has extremely reasonable prices for unbelievable service, grounds, and food. Don't waste your time looking - Whitehall is the perfect combination of farm land and high society, of open skies and trees. Take my word for it - I didn't use to care about stuff like this.

We fell in love with Whitehall as soon as we saw the manor after pulling into the drive. The location is absolutely stunning. All of our guests loved the "secret" location of the estate. The lawn was excellent for the young children to run around and burn off energy. Everything about Whitehall was excellent. I only wish we could do it all over again!

If you have the opportunity to go to Whitehall then do it. I have not once regretted having my wedding there. It is a beautiful location and the staff is just amazing. I don't think there was even one complaint from the wedding guests about the service or the food. (Celebrations Catering owns Whitehall. You must use them as your caterer, but you won't regret doing so the food is amazing!)I had a fairytale wedding at Whitehall and loved every second of it.

Whitehall Manor was breathtaking. Doug worked with me and every aspect. He never said "no" and that was GREAT. He worked me to set up decorations and even came to my aid when I cut my finger on one of my glass centerpieces. The staff was great, the price was great, the location was great, the view of the mountains was great. Everything about this venue was amazing from the start AND we could bring out own booze which saved us thousands of dollars. This is a BIG PLUS. You can also design your food to work without your budget. You are not set to a specific amount like other venuse are. I would HIGHLY recommend Whitehall Manor who wants the perfect affortable wedding. Thank you so much Doug for everything. You were wonderful.

They were absolutely wonderful! Doug worked very closely with me on many details and had suggestions of his own. He was always willing to talk to me by phone, email, or in person. It snowed 6 inches the day before my wedding, and he called to assure me that he would personally make sure that the driveway was clear, that things went smoothly despite not being able to have a rehearsal, and that I was happy with everything. The setting was absolutely beautiful! I got so many compliments from all of my guests. The staff was wonderful on the day of the wedding - extremely attentive! I would recommend this venue to anyone - it was absolutely perfect!

Whitehall Manor was an exquisite location for the perfect fall wedding. Douglas was a complete gentleman to work with, and the site itself was breathtaking! Out of town guests from as far as Miami, Florida, were in awe of the magestical surroundings with the fall foliage and the beautiful hills and mountians. The catering provided by Whitehall was of exceptional quality, professional staff (all the way to the bartenders and waiters), as well as extremely reasonable in price. There was plenty of everything (from the appetizers to the main courses) to the point that we even brought left-overs home for those out-of-town house guests. It was the perfect location and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding away from it all (in feel) but not too far away from it all (in actuality)!

I stumbled upon Whitehall Manor after recommendation from a photographer. To say I was blown away by this site is a huge understatement. I immediately contacted Douglas and set up a visit. That same day we visited multiple site, but nothing compared to Whitehall. I called my parents that afternoon and asked their permission to book the venue. Since we were not able to sign a contract that day, I asked Douglas if we could set up another date for my parents to come out and he had no problem holding our date until that time. We booked Whitehall for our wedding and the planning took off from there. The venue gives such inspiration and is so beautiful that I knew there wouldn't be too much to do because of the already existing beauty of the property. I attended my first tasting in 2009. The food was amazing! I sat there with my brother and ran through the entire menu, but we could not make our selection because we really did love everything. During the tasting Douglas came over multiple times to see if we had any questions and to just check in on us. Even during a group tasting, I still felt that I was given personal attention...which I loved.Since we were unable to decide on our menu, we went to another tasting in the months leading up to the wedding. This time I had my mother, brother and husband with me. Their faces and comments were priceless during the tasting. They were all amazed with the food and the presentation. At the end of the tasting we were able to pick out most of the menu and also decide on table linens. In the few weeks leading up to the wedding I spoke with Douglas quite often. He was always very responsive to my emails and phone calls and I always felt comfortable making decisions. The venue the day of my wedding was PERFECT! Thankfully the weather cooperated and we were able to have our ceremony outside. With the Blue Ridge Mountains in the background, the blooming flowers, and the beautiful mansion behind us; it was picture perfect. From the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the reception, everything went perfectly. The staff was really on top of it and made all of my guests happy.I still recieve compliments about the Whitehall and how beautiful of a venue it was for the wedding. All of our family and friends from out of town could not believe that such a place existed. It felt like it was right out of a story book, and I am thankful that I can look back on my wedding and picture myself getting married on the lawn of Whitehall Manor. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face. Thank you to everyone from Whitehall for making my wedding day perfect. I could not have asked for a better venue and more beautiful location. AWESOME!

Whitehall is incredible! It is a beautiful venue run by a very professional staff. Doug accommodated all of our requests and was happy to make changes along the way up until the week before the wedding. He was incredibly responsive to even the smallest question or concern we had. Working with Doug was an easy and stress free process. We do not live in the area and he was always considerate of working with our schedule or facilitating phone/skype conversations to help the planning. All of the ease and professionalism that Doug showed throughout the planning process were mirrored in the staff on the day of the wedding. They were incredibly easy to work with, accommodated all of our requests and allowed us to focus on having a fabulous time. Our day of coordinator could not stop talking about how great they were in helping her setup and run the evening. In addition the food is FANTASTIC! We were fortunate enough to have great weather to allow us to have the ceremony outside, but we picked Whitehall in part because the indoor ceremony option is also beautiful. We highly recommend Whitehall to a friend and anyone looking for a beautiful venue with an incredible staff.

We had our wedding there on August 20th, 2011 and everything was absolutely wonderful! First, getting in touch with Doug Armstrong was also very easy; he was very responsive via email or phone. We didn't have any issues communicating what we wanted for our wedding and was able to accommodate some of our specific requests. The location is breathtaking and the venue is very well cared for. It really felt we stepped back in time and were transported to another place. On the day of the wedding, they set up the ceremony space quickly and the reception was set up exactly how we wanted to. The venue staff went above and beyond in servicing us (at least the bride and groom!) and were literally waiting on us during our photo shoot outside with appetizers and drinks. The dinner service was great and all of the public and private dressing areas had fresh flowers (their touch). We also had food and drinks served while getting ready. I would highly recommend Whitehall Manor for couples looking for something elegant and beautiful. All of our guests loved the venue and the food was great. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the cost, but I guess what you pay for and we were very happy with everything.

I fell in love with WHM when I first laid eyes on it and once I met Doug & Jose, I knew this was the place for our wedding. Doug made us feel extra special throughout the whole planning processes. He made us feel like we were his one and only clients. Doug was extremely flexible with all the special requests I asked for, such as bringing in Chick-fil-a lemonade & ice tea to be served during the ceremony as refreshment. We had an outdoor ceremony and it was absolutely gorgeous. Wasn't too hot because all the trees kept the ceremony area shaded, plus being up in the mountains made the temperature in the middle of May perfect! I just love the historic atmosphere of the estate, where guests could walk all around the inside & outside of the house, which made it have more of a home feel to our wedding. All the guests couldn't stop talking about how great the food was. I was too excited to eat but the food at the tasting was yummy!

Whitehall is a place that's private, rustic, and serene. It was a perfect size for an outdoor wedding, but had plenty of room in case it rained. Doug was absolutely awesome. He always answered my questions, no matter how small or how many, with professionalism. Everything was just how I wanted it, and the staff was amazing!

Whitehall Manor was the perfect place for our wedding! Everything about the place is beautiful and everyone couldn't believe the scenic views! We had our ceremony outdoors under the trees, which provided the perfect shading on an August evening! I had a lot of people say negative things about having an outdoor ceremony in August, but I knew it would turn out perfect at Whitehall. It was a warm, but not hot evening and everyone was shaded during the ceremony. There was even a nice breeze during the ceremony!The food at Whitehall (Celebrations Catering) is amazing! People couldn't stop complimenting our choice of entrees and appetizers! We did the buffet with plated salad and it worked out great! There was plenty of food for everyone and we even took home leftovers! Although plated food is just as good, the buffet is just the way to go!Douglas Armstrong is great to work with! He's always available if you need anything. Sometimes I think he actually lives at Whitehall because he's there so much! The team at Whitehall on the day of our wedding was great! Everyone was so nice, bar staff, wait staff, bus staff, event captain...everyone! I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I'm so happy we chose Whitehall!

We had our wedding at Whitehall in the fall and the scenery was beautiful - we couldn't have asked for a nicer location to have our wedding. The staff was wonderful and very responsive to our needs, questions, and concerns.

Douglas and the rest of the staff at Historic Whitehall Manor are simply AMAZING!!! From the start, Douglas was accessible and answered every single minutely detailed question that we had. We love his confidence and the fact that despite the fact that he sees wedding after wedding he still seemed excited about or day and what we wanted to accomplish on our special day. We booked the location in December and were married in August...needless to say we had a ton of questions during the 9 months leading up to our wedding day.The place is amazingly manicured, picturesque, super clean, and all around sweet!!! The ability to have the ceremony indoors or outdoors was critical to us as it was sprinkling rain up until our deadline. When my (then) fiancee' arrive on the grounds Francisco greeted her and told her it was going to be a great day for an OUTDOOR wedding. The rain went away and my wife enjoyed the wedding of her dreams. Francisco was also right there throughout the evening, seemingly every time we thought we needed something there he was, like magic. He was so very attentive to our needs. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional...from the rehearsal the day before to the return of our security deposit. I'll go a step further...at the en of the night Francisco informed me that we had 22 cases of wine/alcohol left over. We had no idea that we had ANY, needless to say 22 cases!!! The staff could have given us 2 bottle of beer and we wouldn't have known any better...but for them to be that honest with us speaks volumes for Celebrations, Historic Whitehall, Douglas, Francisco and the rest of the staff. Without hesitation Douglas and Whitehall Manor receive our highest recommendation for their exception service, responsiveness, and professionalism. Our family and friends keep telling us how beautiful the location was and our photographer absolutely loved it!!! When you select Historic Whitehall you've selected the very best. This was absolutely the most wonderful location we could have chosen for our wedding.

We chose Whitehall largely because their all-inclusive service eliminated the need for us to coordinate multiple vendors. Also, it's a beautiful place! During the planning process we worked with Douglas; given the volume of events he handles you would think he might be a stress ball, but he's cool as a cucumber and very personable. When it came to the wedding day, our event captain Francisco went out of his way to be gracious and accommodating. It was hot as blazes and he and the staff made sure the bridal party had cold drinks, snacks, etc. at all times. They set up escort cards, details, and other décor that I would have thought required a day-of coordinator. Any concerns or questions we had during the evening were met with an "Absolutely, no problem" and prompt action. Our guests were wowed by the venue and made sure we knew it. And while Whitehall's expensive, I believe the cost accurately reflects the value. Everyone wants their wedding to be unique - we did have some moments beforehand where we wondered if we were getting married at a "wedding factory", but when it came to the wedding day we were treated with such warmth and personalized service, we felt like the only people to ever get married there. When a venue runs as efficiently as Whitehall, the staff really has time to devote to you and your guests on your wedding day and that was certainly reflected in our experience.

The wedding and reception was beautiful. My emails were always answered, though sometimes it took a few weeks. It rained in the morning and they cleaned off all the chairs in the garden. Both myself and my husband were given rooms for us and our attendants to get ready in, we were brought fruit and water. My husband said the captain was wonderful. When we reached our table there was a plate of appetizers for us. He made sure we were the first to receive dinner. The waiters were attentive with the wine. People raved about the food. It was beautiful, a dream come true.My only complaint is that we were told that we could drop off a box of stuff that they would set up (escort cards, candy favors) but they did not set those things up.

We loved this place! We came for our consult during the winter and there was snow everywhere. When the big day arrived (in July) we were blown away by the transformation. Highly recommend to get married during the summer! Getting married under the trees with the most perfect breeze was a dream come true.The cost is a bit high but still very worth it. There is a price tag on every item, great and small, but it is hard to escape that. If you get married here, you won't regret it!

I had an outdoor ceremony and indoors reception in April It was absolutely beautiful!I will say that if you're a few months out from your wedding day, getting in touch with someone is a littley tricky since they are really busy. But a month before your wedding, the response is quick on everything! It was a great place to have our wedding and everyone loved the venue and asked me how I picked it. It's absolutely gorgeous out there. Doug was great to work with and the event captain, Francisco was also great. Everything went smooth as can be and there weren't any glitches! They've got this down to an art, so there really is no need to be worried about anything!

I loved everything about Whitehall from the moment I walked into the place. For one, the place is beautiful. Lots of nice places to take pictures, good rain backup for the ceremony, and I loved the fact that the catering was done all through Whitehall and the feel of the house was exactly what we were looking for. Douglas Armstrong is so easy to talk to and work with. He really cares and listens to what you want. He went out of his way to work with us with the many questions I had, being flexible on meeting with us and even giving us a tasting before we signed a contract to be sure it was the right place for us. Douglas was very quick with his responses even while he was away on vacation. The only complaint I can think of is before the event we had discussed serving ice cream later in the evening to be served when the cake was cut. The staff actually started serving the ice cream right after the dinner (before the cake cutting which was going to be a few hours later) and when my sister-in-law showed the banquet notes which stated 'ice cream at cake cutting' the staff felt really horrible about it but it was too late because half the guests had already been served the ice cream. I was a bit upset about that but thankfully only a few people knew what was supposed to happen.There was also some mix up with the tables and the seating. I noticed one table that had an extra place setting that shouldn't have and another two tables in the back there was a mix up with the orders. I only noticed this because I used to be an event planner myself so the small details really stand out to me. I was only urked by it because I had gone over the seating chart in great detail and had given them an updated copy even the day of the event. My groom and I were also first served a different meal instead of what we originally ordered even after the code for what dish we wanted were on our placecards. Not a huge deal, the staff member quickly brought us the right dish and were nice enough when we told them not to clear our plates so we could continue to nibble throughout the night. They even offered to keep it in the back so it would stay warm.At the end of the night the staff was nice enough to wrap up the leftover cake and fruit flower arrangement we had as well so we were able to take that home with us.Aside from those few small details everything else went very smooth. The staff was great, the food was excellent. All of our guests said it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. I only wish it could have lasted longer. I would definately recommend Whitehall Manor and Celebrations catering to anyone. They really made my wedding all that I wanted and more.

Whitehall was fabulous and flexible right from the start. It is a little pricey up front, but they are willing to work with their brides to find something that makes everyone happy. Their service was absolutely exceptional during our wedding; not a second went by that our needs weren't being cared for.

Our wedding was everything we wanted it to be, simple yet very classy with nature all around you. All our guest loved the venue and the ceremony was beautiful outdoors. All the staff was great and everything we requested was done. It was the first place we actually visited and there happen to be a promo going on so we got the venue at a very good price....we booked the very next day. They have their own catering...Celebrations, which was great. We went with the plated meal and it work out wonderful. Everyone I got feedback from said the food was great and it was warm when it got to them. There minor flaws with a few dishes and certain waiters that were brought to my attention but by the time I got to the event captin it had been taken care of. I would still highly recommend the venue and catering to anyone.

I would highly recommend Whitehall Manor. We wanted a daytime wedding in a beautiful setting with a room that had lots of windows to let the sun shine through, and Whitehall was the perfect place! We got so many complements about the venue. The quality of service at Whitehall is quite possibly the best customer service I have ever experienced. Douglas Armstrong is extremely responsive and very willing to adapt to your every desire. The food, which is catered on site, is delicious. The staff is incredibly polite and really made our wedding day flow smoothly. I hope I get to attend a wedding again there soon!

Whitehall is a beautiful place for a wedding. Many of our guests commented that it was one of the most special venues that had ever seen. It was so nice to have the ceremony and reception in one location and to have easy access to the beautiful grounds throughout the day. The staff at Whitehall are polished and professional and Francisco, the banquet manager, couldn't have done more to please us. Not having a choice of caterers we expected the food to be mediocre, but it was much better than that. We received many compliments from our guests.

The guys at Whitehall did everything possible to make our wedding what we wanted. I thought it was a little pricey, but I fell in love with the beauty of the place. The staff was also very attentive. Whitehall was the first place we looked at, followed by about 12 more. In my opinion, none of them could compare. I wanted to have the ceremony and reception at the same place and Whitehall provided beautiful grounds and a simple yet elegant indoor reception area. Only things that would have made it even better would have been a gazebo on the grounds and a larger/more convenient restroom for the bride. Although you do have to go with their catering (Celebrations), I had no complaints on their menu or our selections.

Whitehall was the ideal setting for my wedding. We had a ceremony outside followed by a cocktail hour and reception inside. It was romantic, classic, and clean. Everything I could want in a venue. Douglas was flexible with meetings and tastings which was needed since we did not live near the venue. I gave it a 5.0 out of 5.0 for value since you can make the menu to fit any budget, because you can bring in your own alcohol which saved hundreds, and because they do not charge gratuities. We loved our spring wedding!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Whitehall, and truly enjoyed our day- it was unforgettable! The best part is Whitehall has a FRIDAY wedding option, which allowed us to afford having our wedding at such a wonderful place! I knew we were in good hands from the time I walked into Whitehall and met Douglas Armstrong, who personally coordinated everything with us from the moment we signed up- as if we were the only event on his calendar! I don't believe there was one time I had to leave a message when I called Doug for wedding questions- he always answered the phone and sent speedy responses to emails. All of the necessities will be taken care of, while letting you have your personal touches that are so important as well, and when you have never been responsible for an event of this magnitude, you want to know that someone is thinking of the things that you aren't thinking about! It definitely helps to have the ceremony and reception in one place, AND that Whitehall includes the catering service- MUCH LESS TO COORDINATE YOURSELF!!! It certainly was a classy wedding, thanks to Whitehall's experience and knowledge, but afforded the ability to relax and have a lot of fun- no stuffiness! Whitehall itself is situated in one of the most naturally beautiful moutain settings, it has a great indoor ceremony option with plenty of big windows in case the weather doesn't cooperate for an outside event. HIGHLY recommend... our pictures with the Whitehall scenery turned out to be truly amazing- beyond our highest hopes for sure!

The venue is beautiful and the staff was very responsive to all my questions and requests. Perfect place if you're looking for a site that has a historical feel with all the modern conveniences. There is a lot of room for guests to move around and they really enjoy using the grounds on nice evenings. Overall a a great place.

I'm writing as the mother of the bride. My daughter knew she wanted her reception at a historical venue. Until recently we were unaware of Whitehall's existence and we live only 10 minutes from it! What a treasure! The reception was everything we'd hoped and planned for it to be. Doug was helpful and patient in answering our many emails before the wedding. The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. The staff was incredible the night of the reception. They were polite and attentive. When I was ready to pack up our things after the newlyweds left, I found that it was ALL already accomplished! Wow! With many beautiful local venues to choose from, I believe we made the best possible decision. Whitehall is immaculate, in a gorgeous setting, with a caring, professional staff.

I had my wedding here recently and the service was great. I would absolutely recommend having your wedding here. Douglas is a little bit difficult to deal with - you deal exclusively with him up until the wedding day. He is on top of things but the venue is somewhat set in its ways with running weddings. However, it must work for them because on the actual wedding day, things went impeccably well. The event staff was on top of things and went out of their way to make sure that the guests and the bride and groom (us), had a great time. They even brought us and our family drinks and appetizers while we were taking family photos. They also ran things perfectly on time and the food here is also very, very good. We brought our own alcohol and they served it, which was also convenient. The only complaint I have is that they forgot to give us our left over alcohol back, but we went back and got it later, which was a pain but we got it back in the end. Overall, for 75 guests, we paid about $10k for our whole shebang here (food, service, rentals, ceremony etc.). That’s not the whole wedding… but the Whitehall portion of it. I wouldn’t have changed anything though, everything was perfect and I would choose Whitehall again in a minute if I were able to pick again.

I loved Whitehall. It is the perfect mixture of the old and the new and if you are looking for a historic venue that can actually fit a wedding in it, this is the place. They day of went off amazingly well with the team captain being on point with everything and the serving staff being very professional. My vision was made into a reality and Douglas did a good job of keeping things realistic and logistically feasible. Douglas who was our sales person and coordinator leading up to the event was very professional. He was also very responsive and knowledgeable. The two things that I would suggest for Whitehall are 1) don't have the sales person also be person helping you plan your day. Douglas seems to do A LOT of everything there and I can imagine it is very hard to keep every little detail in line while filling so many roles. I would have liked to have met with our team captain before the event to make sure he knew, in my words, the details of the day. 2) Weddings are Whitehall's business and they run it as such. I would encourage Whitehall to treat every wedding like it is the first wedding. On the bride side - advocate and don't be afraid to ask questions! However, I will say, they have done this a million times and they do a great job. They know their vendors, the business, the millions of ways to make what you want happen. Get in early because this place books up fast and it is by far, the best place I came across in my three months of venue shopping. And book your hotel blocks early - the two that ran the shuttle to Whitehall were booked 7 months before the wedding!

Whitehall Manor was the best. I had my dream wedding. The staff was spectacular, they made sure everything was setup before the ceremony and wedding started. They made sure I had a bite to eat since that usually doesn't happen to brides on their day. I loved the venue. Douglas the sales manager was really good and he will get back to me right away on any questions I had, he let me know when he was going to be away and gave me a backup contact. The day of the wedding Francisco was spectacular, I didn't even meeet him but my best man and husband spoke so highly of him and so did my mom. My mother being the mother of the bride was very nervous but after she saw how everyone was great she stopped worrying. Staff was very attentive and made sure I had the best wedding ever. Thank you Whitehall.

Whitehall was the perfect venue for my wedding the area surrounding the hosue is so scenic and picturesque we loved it. Since it's out a way swe did book a shuttle for our guests but that worked great! Doug was amazing to work with he was very accomodating and tried to make whatever we wnated work when possible. We only had our reception here as our ceremony was in a church but it was absolutely perfect I love the way the hosue lets a wedding flow from cocktail hour to dinner and dancing it was the perfect set-up! We used a lot of suggested vendors from doug and they were all amazing and since they worked there so frequently there were no snags! Whitehall is gorgous!

The name cards were all immediately thrown away, including some items that belonged to my mother and father. This was an extreme disappointment to my parents considering they are very sentimental and had wanted to hold on to some of the things that were so quickly thrown away.

We held both our ceremony and reception at Whitehall and we're so happy we did! The house and grounds are beautiful, the food was delicious and the staff (both organizers and day-of even staff) were very responsive. Doug was very easy to work with and he was very helpful throughout the planning process. Francisco, our event captain on the wedding day, was very thoughtful and efficient. Everything was basically set up before we arrived on our wedding day. The staff was very attentive, bringing us trays of snacks and drinks while we were getting ready and after the ceremony during our photography session. They even served kids first, so parents could help them and then enjoy their meal afterwards. Whitehall pays attention to the smallest detail and it pays off in a very well run wedding. Highly recommend!

we had both our ceremony and reception at whitehall manor. the venue basically provided everything we wanted: scenic historic manor house, new reception hall, great caterers and event coordinator, and friendly service. the grounds are well kept. we could not have asked for a better atmosphere for our outdoor wedding. douglas was very helpful during the entire process, and though he was slow at times in responding (during the spring wedding season), he did answer all of our questions. on the wedding day, the staff at Whitehall were prompt in handling all of our requests. all of our decorations were put out in the proper arrangement, and as far as we could tell, nothing went wrong. during the whole night, we were not bothered with questions or anything by the staff. everything flowed seamlessly. francisco, the event coordinator, was amazingly efficient. he reserved hor d'hoeuvres for my husband and i, packaged to-go meals for us, and helped box up all our things at the end of the night. in short, the staff really took care of us and our guests.

This place was beautiful. ALL of the vendors on their approved list were talented, creative, and worth the money! They all ranked about average for wedding costs in the DC area, but gave us service of the very best sort! Our photographer (Hill Signature Portraits), caterer, wedding cake (Taylor Made), florist (Holly Heider Chapple) and DJ were all from their list. The wedding planner/coordinator from Encore Special Events was only so-so and I don't think we needed her.

Whitehall Manor is a beautiful location for a wedding. It is a beautiful Georgian mansion with an event hall added on. It speaks of Virginia's beautiful mountains and the old plantations. The venue is perfect for an outdoor wedding. The manager, Doug, is easy to work with and very responsive to one's needs and desires.

My husband and I were married at Whitehall Manor in August, 2011. We were thrilled when we booked the venue, and felt like it was the right fit for us and our wedding after seeing many other similar venues in the area. However, I have to admit that I had moments of doubt during the planning process. The tasting luncheon left me feeling lukewarm about the food, and I was second guessing our decision to use Whitehall. We had to push back on Douglas at certain times to make sure that the ceremony and reception were exactly what we wanted. However, all of my doubts were erased on our wedding day. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say that I was wrong to doubt the food or the service. The food at our wedding was better than the food at the tasting, and turned out quite well (pleasing our foodie family and friends). The service that night was impeccable. My husband and didn't have to ask for anything. They anticipated our needs all night, and made sure that we ate and drank plenty! Everything I have heard from family and friends echos the same experience. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating to everyone. When all was said and done, my husband and I were very pleased with our wedding venue choice. I admit that my initial doubts were unfounded! Thank you for working to make our wedding a flawless evening--we greatly appreciate your dedication!

Whitehall is a beautiful venue, catering to both indoor and outdoor weddings, both small and relatively large. It is an historic building with a gorgeous banquet hall (actually a fairly recent addition to the building), perfect for both the ceremony and reception (if everything is indoors). I particularly recommend getting married here in the fall - the drive through Leesburg to Whitehall is absolutely gorgeous with fall color in peak display - however, any time of year is fine. I actually got married in Winter (November 30) and even though it was dark, rainy, and fairly gloomy, there are so many wonderful features at Whitehall - both indoor and out (I especially love the barns), that it doesn't matter what time of year your wedding is. Service overall was excellent. Douglas (manager) accommodated our various requests, and his day of staff were very professional, ensuring that both the bride and groom were fed and our thirsts quenched :). The only downside on the day was that the bartender was slow, so during our cocktail hour there was a substantial line for drinks (so I was told later). Douglas was generally responsive to our questions - we usually emailed; sometimes talked on the phone. He could take a while to get back to us on some things, but since we were late paying every now and then, I guess it evened out. I never had reason to question Whitehall's professionalism and was delighted with how everything came together. Value wise, we got a good deal - getting married on a Sunday on Thanksgiving weekend meant that we got their lowest booking rate. If you are booking over the summer period, you will probably pay a fair bit more, but it pays to check with them. Whitehall provide their own catering company - this can be a pro or a con. If you're fussy on your food, you may consider this a con (though, their food is very good and they provide a few tastings throughout the year), but if you don't want to worry about having to look for a caterer and your rentals, then this is like a one-stop-shop and certainly makes wedding planning easier. Whitehall are happy to customize their menus to suit your budget, and they encourage you to bring your own alcohol (without requiring a license).

Everything was so easy and wonderful. The guys are great, and they know weddings and dinners. The manor house and grounds are simply gorgeous!The guys who own Whitehall also own the catering company, so they take care of everything for your reception! You can also choose to have the ceremony on-site, outside with a pretty arch.

This venue is amazing, spring, summer and fall. I wouldn't suggest winter, because we are dealing with Virginia and part of Whitehall's beauty is that you may have the cermony outside. They were very professional and made sure everything was taken care of and we were informed of every little detail. Every email sent was responded to in record time and they took care of us until the very very end.

Historic Whitehall Manor provided a beautiful setting for our outdoor ceremony and a romantic setting for our indoor reception. Having the whole manor to yourselves and your guests was a must after attending so many weddings where you could hear the reception going on next door while the bride & groom were saying their vows! Our guests absolutely raved about the food and we're still getting compliments 6 months later on the food, venue and service. If there was a problem they were VERY quick at getting it taken care of. It sometimes took a little while to get a response in the beginning stages of our planning, but they were on the ball as our wedding date approached. As for the value for the cost...well it's a wedding and weddings are expensive. However, if you're flexible they have several ways to help you reduce your costs, and they are VERY comparable to anyone else in the area...and like I said you get the whole property to yourself! They truly worked with our budget and we were told by many what a beautiful wedding it was. They were even helpful if you need any suggestions with other vendors. If you are a picky/choosy bride who may even change her mind on a few details at the last minute then this is the venue for you because they will bend over backwards to help make your dream come true! All in all it was a perfect day that the staff of Whitehall Manor made come true, what more could you ask for?

Whitehall is a beautiful spot but it is pricey. It makes life easier that they have their own catering service and they handle everything - the food, the linens, the china, and the chairs. The food is good and actually was better at the wedding than at the tasting. We got married during the low season but that means a lot of our planning was happening during high season for Whitehall. This can slow them down on responding to questions and email which can be a little nerve-wracking as your getting ready to write large checks.

Our wedding at Whitehall was absolutely beautiful! I would do it over again in a heartbeat. However, there were a few minor things that I would mention to those considering Whitehall...firstly, we booked for a Friday in April (April 30), which saved us a LOT of money. The person we were booking with tried to persuade us that a Saturday in May would be preferable as the grounds would look better...one day later. Hmmm. Secondly, they do a ton of weddings there--which is great, since the staff know exactly what they're doing (our staff the night of was extremely efficient and gracious). The downside is that it can feel a bit impersonal in the months leading up to your wedding. Also, I noticed that a lot of people mentioned in their reviews that the food at their wedding was better than at their tasting, while we had the opposite experience. The food was still good, though. Another small issue, possibly also due to the number of weddings they host, it felt somewhat formulaic. I didn't feel there was a lot of room for flexibility--and there very well may have been, but it wasn't encouraged. It was also tricky to keep track of payments (I'm not an organized person and did not have a wedding planner), as they did not send a reminder for the last two payments or the damage deposit. And lastly, though this is not under their control, the closest hotels are in Leesburg, which means out-of-town guests will have to drive (we addressed that issue by booking the courtesy shuttle offered by Comfort Suites, which worked out really well). All in all, as I said, our actual wedding was lovely and perfectly wonderful, and the best night of my life. The grounds were immaculate, the weather was gorgeous, and everyone thought it was just perfect....though the planning process wasn't 100% problem-free, I don't regret choosing Whitehall for a second!

Before our wedding, our contacts at Whitehall Manor were responsive, professional, and easy to work with. I would have given them much better ratings. However, there was some confusion about the end time of our event that was not discovered until a week before our wedding. At that point it was too late to make changes to all of our other vendors, so we ended up ending the reception half an hour before our rental ended. When our wedding day came I was quite disappointed by the service at Whitehall. When we went outside to take pictures nobody brought us food or drinks there, although it was my impression that they would do so and did do so for other reviewers. I then found out the event captain did not have a timeline for our event. I had previously been asked to confirm the food and beverage timeline and also send our DJ timeline, and apparently the event captain didn’t have either of them, and did not contact Doug who I know does have them. I didn’t want to ask someone to leave the reception to go get it out from a car, and I figured they must at least have the food and beverage schedule that Whitehall had suggested and I didn’t make changes to. However, I quickly realized otherwise when there was no champagne for my mom’s welcome toast, which had to be quickly altered to a welcome speech instead. From there the groom and I had to constantly watch the clock. I had to literally walk into the kitchen to tell them when we wanted to cut the cake. My mom missed the last dance to ask them to track down the sparklers we dropped off the day before. Packing up my mom’s car didn’t even go smoothly – they informed her she also had to take many cases of alcohol after they had already helped her load all the flowers in her car. They helped her rearrange, and then the next day when she picked up the supplies we had dropped off before the wedding an entire box was missing, so she had to go back there again to get it. I expected much more based on reviews and personal recommendations. Things that did go well that day on Whitehall’s part: great food and a beautiful venue. When my mom talked to the person we had been communicating with before the wedding afterwards, he was defensive and insisted there was no way they didn’t have the event schedule. I attended a friend's wedding there three years ago and watched the staff quietly tell her they were five minutes behind schedule and ask her what she'd prefer to do to adjust the schedule. I really don't know what's changed since then. I’m not impressed, its prices are in line with other venues in the area, but it certainly didn’t live up to its great service reputation when it came down to the big day.

Whitehall Manor is my favorite venue in the area to work with. They have delicious catering, wonderful professional staff, and elegant furniture and decor built into a private location with a manor house and gorgeous landscaped grounds. Ceremonies held both indoors and outdoors are wonderful, and they can let you decide and adjust at the last minute if needed. I've coordinated several weddings there, and couples and guests alike have been enchanted with the experience. I highly recommend holding your wedding or event at Whitehall!

Working with Doug at Whitehall is always a phenomenal experience. Being a wedding planner, we are always looking for the tiniest details to fix and ensure the bride has a perfect day. At Whitehall, they pay the same attention to detail and make our job very easy. The food is superb, the service is 5-star, and the venue itself is breathtaking. It's secluded, historic, beautiful, functional, has plenty of parking, and best of all can fit all of your guests in one big room. If you're still looking for a wedding venue I recommend you take the drive out to beautiful Bluemont and check it out!

Whitehall manor is on my shortlist for favorite venues in the DC area. The staff is exceptional, the food is incredible and the venue is unmatched. Doug and his staff make dreams come true each and every time they have an event there. The staff is attentive, efficient and will ensure you have everything you need to make your day perfect. I recently used Whitehall for my own wedding and it was so easy to work with them from "the other side". I can not say enough great things about Whitehall, the location, the staff, and the experience of having a wedding there or performing there. I always look forward to and get excited when I work with a couple who is having a Whitehall wedding!

We have been working with Whitehall Manor for many years now and the experience is always rewarding. First and foremost, the location films beautifully in every season and always looks fantastic in the video. Secondly, the staff is always friendly, helpful and courteous to our teams. One of my favorite aspects of Whitehall weddings is the swing for two; the photographer always gets shots of the bride and groom sitting in it together and it's really fun to put the actual swinging shots into the video! The outdoor ceremony location also allows for a great shot for the processionals, which isn't always the case in many outdoor weddings. The food at Whitehall is always spectacular and the locations in and around the building for beautiful photos and videos are limitless. I have a great shot of a bride and groom kissing in front of their rustic barn, where their shadows are kissing on the wall behind them. It's a great memory for me and for our bride and groom, and it happened at Whitehall. A wonderful location for a wedding!
