Hollow Creek Golf Club

I can't begin to explain how wonderful everything and everyone was at Hollow Creek. Susie and Sarah were amazing and worked very hard to make sure my day was perfect. If there were problems that occurred, I was not aware of them and was able to enjoy my day to the fullest! I explained to them what I had in mind and they went above and beyond my expectations to create the most perfect wedding day. My guests also enjoyed the day and are still complimenting the classiness of the venue, excellent food, and exceptional service.

We chose Hollow Creek because of the beautiful venue and the extremely helpful staff. We were completely happy with our decision and wouldn't change a thing.

Everything was awesome!! Susie was a delight to work with on every aspect of the planning! The food was sososo delicious and the staff was very accomodating! We received many compliments! The capacious reception hall has no columns or walls to obstruct the views! The bathrooms and preparation rooms are clean,spacious and even pretty! The grounds are well kept and the views are beautiful!! This was a wonderful venue for this special day!

Susie and her team at Hollow Creek are wonderful! We hosted our entire wedding there, from the rehersal dinner, ceremony, to the reception. Susie is so thorough with her planning and so accomodating! She does not miss a beat and made sure the day was exactly what I wanted. The food for both the rehersal dinner and reception were unbelieveable! The ceremony was like a scene from a Disney movie! Every girl has a dream as a child on what their wedding day will look like. Susie and her team found my dream and made it come true! Thank you Susie!!

Susie and Alyssa were great to work with. I had a very detail oriented DIY type of wedding, with many things to set up. They took on the challenge of setting everything up with ease, and even with rain moments before our ceremony on our big day, they were easily accommodating to our guests and myself (and all my bridesmaids who occupied the bridal suite all day long). Thank you so much for making our special day AMAZING, it was a beautiful and amazing reception and ceremony venue, with incredible FOOD. I received nothing but compliments from ALL our guests. I had an amazing experience at Hollow Creek. From the very beginning my husband and I absolutely loved the venue because Susie (the event coordinator) was willing to work with us. We had encountered so many places that required us to pay for a minimum number of guests and Susie was the first to say we only had to pay for the number of guests invited (which was awesome).
The communication was awesome and Susie and her assistant Alyssa were extremely helpful. Susie even called me the evening of our rehearsal dinner to inform me that it looked like it might rain and that she was prepared to set our rehearsal up inside if needed. When I didn't answer she also texted me and sent me an email to make sure I would receive the information!
The food at the venue was absolutely amazing and all of my guests complimented it. We had several guests with specific requests for food and they accomodated their every need.
Finally, the venue is absolutely beautiful and we thought all of the staff was awesome. Everyone worked well together and I would absolutely use Hollow Creek again!

All in all a positive experience. The coordinator's assistant was great. The venue is beautiful, the food wonderful. Responsiveness from the coordinator was a little lacking at times. Day of details faltered a little (ceremony chairs not being set up correctly first time around, grooms cake being taken away to get cut when we asked it not). But those things got fixed quickly and were minor in the grand scheme. Great value for the money, especially compared to other venues in the area.

Hollow Creek Felt Like Home
Hollow Creek was the perfect setting for our wedding in October 2010. In looking for a reception site we wanted to feel like we were at an old estate, but could not afford the price. The look and feel of the clubhouse and courtyard at Hollow Creek were the next best thing we could ask. An outdoor ceremony in their newly renovated courtyard and indoor reception on a Sunday afternoon were perfect. PROS - Location, service, food CONS - Lack of decor in...

I have been a bit torn about whether to create this review because it was very "on and off" for me; there were many pros and cons. Sometimes I was happy and then other times I was fuming.
Let me start off with the things that I like/love about this establishment:
The grounds are amazing, the mountains are a beautiful backdrop despite the housing development surrounding the golf course. The food was good! Very good. And they were very accommodating with my special food needs. I am vegan and wanted to have a large portion of the food vegan. The chef was very knowledgeable and polite and they didn't even charge me a bunch extra (if any at all) to alter their set menu. The prices were reasonable if you chose the $45 plated menu (in the wedding industry standards, I mean). Location is easy to find, and has plenty of parking. The indoor decor is great and so is the outdoor landscaping. The main room has strong colors, so you would have to be careful that your wedding colors don’t clash. We picked a fall theme, so it went perfectly. Even the bathrooms are pretty! The outdoor patio where our ceremony was held is beautiful and it overlooks the lake. On the day of, everything seemed to go well. Later on I heard some things that unnerved me which I will address below, but on the day, I didn't notice anything BIG and Susie and her assistant were great on that day with springing to action when needed.
Now for the things I don't like:
Again, the housing development turned us off a lot. Other venues that we considered have mountain views without houses obstructing the beauty. There is a sports bar and a golf shop downstairs from this venue, so unfortunately foot traffic spills out, and golf carts are constantly driving around. During the ceremony, it was under control as far as I could tell, but just prior to the ceremony, a few guys smoking had to be asked to move away. It is just a liiiittle bit tacky to have such a nice wedding venue in the same building as a sports bar and a golf shop in my opinion. But it wasn't enough to make us choose a different venue. The food was served to our guests very late (again, I didn't notice because there were a million things going on involving us), and many of the plates were cold. They switched my pre-planned itinerary in order to stall for the fact that the food wasn’t ready. Reportedly one table complained that the food was so cold it was like it had been in the refrigerator! There was also some confusion with the salad plates - some guests were told not to eat their salads until the bride and groom arrived (and we never asked them to do that nor would we want our guests to stare hungrily at a plate of food while they waited for us!). I also heard from a few guests that their server was rude and seemed clueless when asked specific questions. The worst part is the general issue with responsiveness. When we were considering Hollow Creek along with a few other locations, Susie politely emailed me every week or two to see if I had made a decision. I took that as a good sign. After we paid our deposit and signed the contract, the dynamic changed. On several occasions, my emails went unanswered. I had to follow up via email or phone calls. Sometimes when I would call, she would immediately say she had to call me back, without even asking what the call was about. And my call was never immediately returned it sometimes would take a day or more. It is a scary feeling that you are now locked into this venue and the date (of course you have already ordered your save the dates or invitations, and maybe even sent them out), and the event coordinator is hard to get in touch with. Furthermore, sometimes I felt like she was annoyed by me just calling or emailing - I could tell in the tone and even got that feeling in person a few times. Sometimes she was right on point and I was very happy and felt confident, but then for each time that happened, I had an experience where it was a struggle to get information. The final straw that made me decided to give Hollow Creek a lower rating then I had originally planned, was that when I voiced my concerns to Susie after the wedding... big surprise.... there was no response. No apology, no explanation, nothing. And that is the taste left in my mouth with this venue, and it has been characteristic of the whole communication experience with them. It’s such a shame because there are so many good things. I would not recommend this venue to any friends of mine. As a matter of fact, at this point I would deter anyone if they told me they were considering it.

The scenery is amazing! The chef is amazing! Olga (who managed our event that day) is amazing! A great place if you don't mind the 45+ minute drive outside of the city... we needed a place that could hold potentially 200+ guests and that’s hard to find any closer to DC without paying big, big money and getting a “hole in the wall” kind of ballroom. My only advice is to hold your ground in regards to what you want (as far as the ballroom set up goes)… they’ll eventually come around. Also, they tell you in the beginning, as well as advertise on their website that they provide “a Special Events Coordinator to manage all the details the day of your wedding” but we found them backing down, at the last minute, about putting place cards at each place setting (rather than at a place card table) and folding napkins in a nonstandard fold… luckily we had a wedding planner to step in and offer her assistance. I would absolutely recommend Hollow Creek Golf Club to everyone and anyone though! They were still very, very accommodating and handled the stress of the bride (and heat – 115 degree weather that day!) very well.

Susie Chalk and the staff at Hollow Creek are AMAZING!!!! She was responsive to my e-mails, even made calls after business hours before the wedding. Food was delicious, grounds were very well groomed, new patio renovations are fantastic, a GREAT place to have your wedding!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Hollow Creek and it was fabulous! I was a nervous wreck becuase our outdoor wedding was scheduled to start at 6pm and at 5:30 it began to rain. The staff there (particularly Sara and Austin) came in and told me that they were watching the weather and that it would clear in 30-40 mintues. They cleared the patio of all the chairs and decorations until the rain cleared, 40 minutes later just as they had said. During the rain delay they began the cocktail hour and made every effort to accomidate my guests! Once the rain had cleared they reset the patio and the wedding went on as planned. The reception turned out equally as great! The room was set us just as we had discussed and eveything looked fabulous. The food was great and recieved many compliments from my guests. All in all I thought that Hollow Creek did an incredible job for my wedding. I would highly reccomend it to anyone who is looking for a beautiful wedding location and top noch service.

They were great! It's a beautiful location and they were happy to accomidate whatever we wanted to do. The day of thier A/C broke in one part of the building and they brough in fans and were doing everything they could make us comfortable.

Hollow Creek was an absolutely beautiful place to get married. Both the ceremony and reception sites were beautiful. The food was great all of our guests really enjoyed it. Everyone who works there does a great job of making you and your guests feel taken care of. I would highly recommend them.

I highly recommmend Hollow Creek Golf Club as a wedding venue. The site is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the wedding staff members are professional.

First of all, Hollow Creek is a beautiful venue and it is not ridiculously expensive as many of the others we looked at. We had both our ceremony and reception there and could not have asked for a more beautiful venue. Our ceremony was held outdoors over looking a small body of water and the golf course. With the arch they have decorated in flowers the site could not have looked better. The inside is gorgeous as well. Bonnie Swanson is the event coordinator at Hollow Creek and I could not have asked for a better person to work with when planning the wedding. She always returned my phone calls promptly and had answers for me whenever I needed them. She is open to doing anything you want there and does not try and make you do things “the way they are done” as some of the reception sites we looked at did. 2 days before the wedding my Dad had an issue with the beer we had chosen and Bonnie went out of her way to correct the problem and at the lowest cost she could. On the day of the wedding she was there, working with my coordinator to make sure everything ran smoothly, and it did! The room looked beautiful, they had set up the linens and chair covers for me. The food was super yummy, yes I made sure I had time to eat it! There was even some sun coming through a window in another room that was going directly to my eye and one of the wait staff stood in that room, ALL through dinner, holding up a piece of paper so the sun was blocked. Nobody could see her and I didn’t have the sun blinding me! I can’t say enough good things about Hollow Creek. I highly recommend this beautiful, yet AFFORDABLE, reception site.

My husband and I fell in love with Hollow Creek Golf Club as soon as we went in for a tour with Bonnie. The place is soooo beautiful, and not to mention the prices were so affordable compared to every other place we had looked at for our wedding. We loved the fact that we could have our ceremony outside and our reception inside in the beautiful ballroom with the French doors. The whole place was beautiful, and not to mention how much we enjoyed working with Bonnie, so was a sweetheart, and so flexible, and easy to work with. Our wedding was beautiful, everything was prefect, I could not have asked for more. Even though the planning part took a year for us the night of the wedding was the most amazing day/night of my life. All the planning was worth it, and if I could do it all over again I would still pick Hollow Creek for our wedding site.

Hollow Creek is a wonderful, relaxed and beautiful venue for your wedding. The food is top class and the event staff are great, especially Susie. You can't go wrong, one of the best locations in the Middletown area by far.
