Debby was absolutely amazing for the wedding I planned. The bride had a VERY specific topsy-turvy cake that she wanted. I passed that image around to several cake places, and Debby was the ONLY cake maker with a price that fit our budget, a quick response to my e-mails, and a taste that was also WONDERFUL. The cake was going to be the real centerpeice of the reception (aren't all of them though), and so when we saw it in real life and it was EXACTLY what the bride wanted, we couldn't have been more thrilled. Our guests all asked who did the cake, and I was happy to recommend Debby and Home Run Cakes, and I will continue to recommend and use her for any other weddings I plan. TOP NOTCH!

The actual cake was ordered from out of state, but she did a beautiful job icing it with really yummy buttercream frosting, and decorating it with some silk hydrangeas we actually just had laying around the house. She took the dusty flowers, cut them into little blossoms, and really made everything look awesome. She also made at least 5 different flavors of cupcakes that were really tasty and looked great, also partially decorated with the silk flowers. She was very responsive to our unusual requests, and very easy to work with.

First off I have to tell you this is probably some of the best cake you will ever eat! All of my guests are still talking about how beautiful and yummy the cake was! Debbie is awesome and you can tell how much she loves her job, by the end product. I will definitely use her again whenever I need cupcakes or anything else down the road. I had a picture of what I wanted in mind and I believe it turned out better than the picture. The price is really reasonable and she is able to make each layer a different flavor. Will definitely recommend her to others! Thanks again Debbie!

I work in weddings and this is seriously the BEST wedding cake I have ever tasted! She uses REAL ingredients, real butter, sugar, flour (not crisco and boxed mixes like every other baker) and her cakes taste homemade and delicious! She took our ideas and creatively captured the theme of our wedding in the cake design, even adding a few special touches to make it truly unique. She even helped me find a super cute cake topper which we love and will keep forever! And her prices are ridiculously reasonable for the quality of cake! I was thoroughly impressed and give the highest of recommendations!

They put WHAT in the cake? Crisco? ALUMINUM???
Not my cakes.
All my cakes are made from scratch, and that includes not just the cakes themselves but also the buttercreme frosting and the fondant. I don't use any high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oil (Crisco) in my home. I buy locally-produced
ingredients when possible, including eggs from cage-free chickens who live on a nearby farm. They taste SO much better because the chickens are free to roam -- and the eggs I buy haven't been sitting in cold storage for weeks!
And the frosting you get from jars or from the local grocery? That's not buttercreme. It's shortening-creme. That sickening sweet, leaves a slimy aftertaste in your mouth frosting is made from hydrogenated shortening -- not butter.
It's typically all shortening with artificial, clear butter flavor added. My buttercreme is just that -- BUTTER creme. Creamy and delicious, and made with all real butter. My fondant is also all homemade with real ingredients. (And actually TASTES good
too! Really!)

Do you deliver?
Yes! My cakes will be delivered FREE in the metro Columbus area. If you are outside of Franklin County (or farther East into Licking County than Pataskala, or farther North into Delaware County than northern Westerville), a small delivery charge will be added to cover fuel costs.
How much advance notice is needed for a cake order?
The short answer is, order as soon as you know your date! Dates book up even months in advance, so if you want to guarantee that I can get a cake for you on your date, please call to book as soon as possible. Even if you don't know a guest count, color scheme or event location, it's best to secure your date as soon as you have it, and the details can be worked out at a later time.
Do you require a deposit when placing a cake order?
For wedding cakes or other orders for 75 servings or more, the deposit is 25% of your total. This deposit amount is applied to your balance due.
Please note that after contacting me and discussing your cake, if you have left me your name, email address and phone number I will be happy to let you know if there has been another request for your date prior to booking the date you wanted, but unfortunately, unless you have sent a deposit, I cannot guarantee that a previously discussed date is still open.
What Makes Your Cakes Different?
Cake mixes are cheap and easy. I can buy enough cake mix to make two large cakes for just a few bucks. Unfortunately, the ingredients in those cake mixes are not good for your body. They are made to be cheap, and like many cheap, processed foods, they are made with hydrogenated oil. All of my cakes are from scratch, using all REAL ingredients -- real unsalted butter, organic/cage free eggs, real vanilla and flavorings, baking soda and powder, and plain cake flour. If you want a chocolate cake, I use dutch processed cocoa and/or melted Ghirardelli chocolate, depending on the recipe.
It's not as easy to start from scratch, but it's worth it. No, non-hydrogenated cakes can't be called "healthy" (mmm, butter...), but your body knows how to process REAL food. Chemical sludge? Not so much.
Just What is Buttercreme and How is Yours Different?
Those crisp, sharp frostings you see in all bakery cakes? That's not buttercreme. It may have artificial butter flavoring added to it, but it's usually made with 100% shortening mixed with powdered sugar. That slimy aftertaste that stays in your mouth after a bite of bakery cake? It's not butter.
My standard buttercreme frosting is a fluffy swiss meringue buttercreme. It is so amazingly yummy. It is light and fluffy, and not sickeningly sweet. This is what I use on all my cakes, even those that are covered in fondant. (The buttercreme is the "under layer".) If the cake isn't going to be covered in fondant, I will still use the meringue on the "crumb coat" layer, and follow that with a decorator's buttercreme, which is stiffer and holds up to piping well. It's still all butter - no Crisco, and still delicious with no greasy aftertaste.
I've heard fondant tastes disgusting, so I don't want it on my cake.
You're right -- most fondant is TERRIBLE. It tastes like plastic. That's because typically, it comes from a purchased tub and is so full of chemicals, it IS practically plastic. My homemade fondant actually TASTES good. I've tried pre-made fondant, and fondant at many weddings (I used to be a wedding planner), that were just unpalatable. Just so gross, all you could do was peel off the fondant layer. What a waste. Being homemade, I can make my fondant actually worth eating. My standard fondant is sugar and gelatin based, with natural vanilla extract. And so yummy, return customers ask for it on their cakes.
